Sophie has been attacked by demons, destroyed a nest of vampires, and lived through the death of someone close to her. Now she and her friends have been rescued by the Society and taken to a secret island base to train. While they desperately search for leads on where Akeldama may be holding Lilli prisoner, Sophie tries to keep Tristan at arms length. She doesn't need anything to distract her from finding her best friend, or so she tells herself. Then the unthinkable happens. One of the Society's own has betrayed the Guardians, selling their secrets to the demons and attacking them where they should feel safest. In the end, Sophie's greatest enemy could be her own fears, and she faces a decision that could push Tristan and her friends away forever.

Once again we find the main character, Sophie and her friends trying to survive a whole new world that they have found themselves in. At the beginning of this book they are just feeling safe but throughout this book the team finds themselves in more trouble than they could imagine. It's hard to tell more without giving things away. This is a very slow read. It's not a large book but it took me five days to read it which is not normal. There are times when the author skips around a bit from thought to thought which would throw me off the train of thought. I adored Aidan's character once again. His hot head attitude and comments made him my favorite so far. Jackson once again doesn't hardly speak which got weird in the first book and now this book it made him feel like he was just a muscle headed boy who just was like a bodyguard. I wish he would do more in the story. Some of the plot you could tell what was going to happen before it did. Not all of it (like the very end) but at the attempt of trying to be mysterious and bum bum bummmm, it fell short. When the information is finally revealed I as a reader was like, "noooo you don't say" with as much sarcasm as I could get. This book is very transparent. So all in all I give 3 out of 4 stars.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review via Lovers of Paranormal as I have agreed to review book three in the series, this being book 2.
This was a good continuation from book 1 in the series. You really do have to read them in order as they continue straight on. This book was better than the first in as much as it flowed better and didn't leave me with so many doubts and confusions. Just one - Sophie' s name in her previous life...huh?? Which is it, am I missing something?
The plot moves quite quickly and keeps you on your toes. I have to admit to mild frustration in the final arena scene but will keep that to myself. The characters are believable and well rounded in most cases.
Sophie and her friends are safe for now on an island until he friends start getting harmed. They discover that someone has betrayed them. They travel to Greece to find a demon who can lead them to Lilli. They crash on the island that used to be home and fight the Demoness. Just when then when they thought they had won, her right hand demon tells them they were played for fools and she is stronger than ever. He has to possess Sophie and led them to the Rift. Sophie finds herself at war with her feelings and Tristan cant stand to be near her. They are in for a adventure.

I started to read it with very low expectations, thinking it was just some bad book written by a beginner, but I am very pleasantly surprised. After the first page I was immediately hooked. This book had all the right elements of slow burning romance, suspense and magic. I LOVE the book, and I dare say it became one of my favorite books. It's so damn addicting. The details and creativity surprises me. It's really hard to write a good book that is liked by people, and I say this as a person who writes and whom aspires to be a professional writer. I'm amazed by how good it is. Touche!

Rating 6 of 10
This book is the second in the Guardian series. It is a bit slower paced than the first book and maybe a bit more focused on Sophie's inner torments. I pretty much liked it thought. So why the lower rating? I will admit I struggled reading it. It took me way too long to read it and there were places where I thought I would not be able to finish. But this not authors fault, it just the book hit my only trigger when I read books - sexual abuse. When was mentioned that a girl was raped I had to press on to continue reading. When Morgan's attack happened... I just left the book to rest for a few days and considered giving up. I am happy I didn't thought. It was a good read and I would have been really sorry to not see how things turned up. There were some interesting twists in it, thought I realized who the traitor is much sooner than they. I thought it was pretty obvious. Sophie is confused in this book, a bit lost. And even if we saw some of her inner struggles maybe even more insight would have been nice. Her brother's death was barely mentioned and I was sort of expecting her to still try to deal with it. I sort of lost sight of Tristan and Jackson in this book. Especially Jackson. He was like some sort of a decor there, a non important, secondary character. I happy I didn't had to read about Morgan's inner demons now. I am happy of it as I might not have been able to handle it but I am not sure if it was that good for the character's development in the other's readers eyes. She does have some new demons to handle, we just didn't saw them. And I am in love with Aiden. That boy is so sweet and kind. My favorite character for sure. Altogether I liked the book. Never expected that demon in the end and I am really curios what his agenda is. Would love to read the next book.

Where to start. I can't really write anything without giving it away. I enjoyed how it continued straight on from the last, the growth in some of the characters, and the none stop go go go.

After the cliffhanger ending of Awakening, I eagerly opened Sacred, hoping that it, being a sequel, would not be disappointing. It wasn't. From page one you're dragged right back into Sophie's story, where emotions are running high, secrets abound and deception lurks in the shadows. Each character has their own part in this story, even the missing Lilli. Tristan is my favorite, after Sophie, and his devotion to her is a sweet spot in the middle of such a dark narrative. This book is so fast-paced, I was actually upset. I wanted it to keep going! Mrs. Long is truly a force to be reckoned with in the YA world.
I thought this series couldn't get better, but Samantha totally pulled this out of the bag.
Thank you to Ms Long for kindly providing me with a copy of Sacred to read and review for this blog tour, along with book #1 Awakening!
The gang of 6 are back and are finally taking in their destiny.
They've finally come around to the idea of Demons, Vampires & all things that go bump in the night, are actually real and its their job to protect the humans from these creatures....their the Guardians!
I'm glad to see the characters to of grown more, Sophie seem to have grown as an independent woman, she seems to take things head on and seems to be building her courage up alone....not sure this is a good thing with the impending fight looming....
The friendship between them all is growing, there bonding, becoming as one! This is great!
There were definitely some heart-wrenching moments of grief in this book, totally made me cry.... if you've read Sacred, you will know what I'm on about.
After everything these guys get thrown at the, they never give up.
They always go back for more!
The ending!!! What The Actual Douche!!!!!
Why oh why did you have to bring in the heavy guns!!
I can't wait for the next....there is a next one right?.....Right???
I was given a free ebook to read in exchange for an honest review (Lovers of Paranormal group).
Sacred is Book 2 in the Guardian series by Samantha Long.
AND........I just jumped off the cliff that the author left me hanging on at the end of this book. I mean SERIOUSLY. This woman knows how to write a cliffhanger and leave you salivating for the next book in her series.
A lot of times when there are more than one book in a series, the series either gets better.....or dies off. In my opinion, Sacred was even better than Awakening. And I really liked Awakening.
Sacred picks right up where Awakening left off, with the Guardians kicking demon butt and taking names. And also trying to prevent the demon goddess Akeldama from unleashing hell on earth. Literally.
And it would have been a shame for Samantha Long to end this book normally right? I mean, we HAVE to have another book in the series. Well, Ms. Long didn't disappoint. If you read Books 1 and 2, now you're going to be sitting here like me, anxiously awaiting book 3.
Great book, great characters.....so glad I was given the opportunity to read this and discovered this amazing author in the process.

Once again, Soph and her friends experienced more challenges, they have to survive every battle they encountered. There are times when the author skips around a bit from thought to thought which would throw me off, like what I mention in book 1 as well. However, in this book, I've know more about Aidan and I absolutely loved his hotheadedness and that usually trigger when Morgan is involved. This book (in terms of romance) focused more on Aidan and Morgan, Sophie and Tristan. Jackson and Lily was not heavily mention, and Jackson doesn't have much scene in it. It was like he was a 'background' until then ending where he was reunite with Lily. I wished Soph would kick some asses in the next book, she has been rather passive in this book except for the whole human torchlight thingy and still doesn't really make an impact. Good luck to Sophie and her friends!
Oh man, and the ending, I loved twist and although this isn't a mega mind blowing twist but I still love it. I can't wait for the sequel especially the progress of Soph and Tristan.
I was given this ebook for an honest review by lovers of paranormal and the author Samantha Long.
I really enjoyed this book! It started off the first chapter reviewing what happened in book one in short form WHICH I LOVE BY THE WAY, and then just gets right down and continues the story line! This book I have to say though, was a little bit confusing, my head is still kinda muddled up because of it. This book almost seemed bi-polar in the way that it was written. There would be times when she started writing what seems to be a major part of the story, only to pull away literally right away! It kinda drove me a bit nuts. The ending of this book wasn't nearly as bad as the first one though, no I'm going to jump off of this cliff see what happens in the next book... no she actually give a teeny tiny snit bit of information on the next book before she ends it, leaving the readers to be excited for the continuation of this series.
Overall a very good read and I can't wait to read the next one whenever its released!
I was so excited to read this sequel especially how the ending of Awakening ended.
I actually skipped to the ending so I'll know how it ends and well I was right that it would have been that kind of ending, it actually made me want to weep but then reading this would be worth it and I'll just need patience till the next book of the series.
Sophie experienced more challenges but I'm rooting for her as I continued to read Sacred. I like that the story is straight to the point but it is also very complex that it made my head spin. I loved these characters each more than the last. What I loved most about them is their friendship. Their bonds to one another is really important despite the arguments they seem to have. It's suspense was actually killing me and I just had to continue reading it even if I wanted to stop and when I got to the ending there was that unexpected twist and I wanted to scream in frustration.
Now, I have to sit and wait for the next book of this series.

Sacred is book two in the Guardian series. I recommend starting with Awakening. The first part of this series is a can't miss and has essential back ground information. This book starts off when the first book ended.
A very well written book that will keep you hooked from the first word until the last word and leave you begging for more!
Rescued by the Society Sophie and her friends are back and training. Sophie is focused on her search for her best friend. But the Guardians are betrayed by someone they trusted and are no longer safe when demons start attacking them. In the end Sophie is forced to make a decision that can alter her life and her friends lives forever.
This ends in a cliffhanger, (I'm beginning to love those more and more) but she ends this book with a twist that I didn't really see coming!
If you enjoy paranormal books or want to try one out, I would highly suggest this series.
This was a well written exciting read, action packed it hooked me until the last page. I'm looking forward to the next in the series and finding out what they have to deal with next. One thing to mention is that this is the first time their agaes are mentioned...16..I thought they were older than that.
This book was provided by the author through the LoP group read to review program
Finally, a sequel even better than the original! I read Awakening, which is the first book in the series, and I really enjoyed it. But I have to say that Sacred is definitely my favorite out of the two. I couldn't put it down. It had so much action and suspense, and best of all, a twist you won't expect. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for something new and exciting to read. Absolutely loved it!!
Samantha has done it again! Her characters are well thought out and the story line is amazing. The bonds between the characters are so touching, even though they may not always get along they have a wonderful friendship. Akeldama may give them hell but their friendships will keep them strong in the battle to save Lilli.
We have learned why this group of friends is bound together and the destiny they are entrusted to fulfill. There is loss within the group and personal heartbreak. There is a major battle that was a little lacking and a choice that was made at the end of the book. Really looking forward to how book 3 will continue the story.
This book was a fun, fast read! I loved the characters, the way in which they have become friends and their common goal of saving the world. I felt like I was a part of all of the action as I was reading this book and am looking forward to the next book to see what happens to the 6 of them next! A must read - add this to your TBR list - you won't be sorry!! Enjoy!
I loved the first book and this one was better as the next phase on their journey begins. It's one of those series where you just have to find out what happens and then what happens next and all the why's and wherefors in between. You will resent those times where have to put the book down because your mind is continually trying to work out the plot.
You just can't not fall in love with some of these characters. They are my new bezzie fantasy friends, and I can imagine all the fun with demons etc.
I love second books in series - - You get so much more in depth with the characters. More personal views, more backstory - all of that. This book did not disappoint. Sophie and her friends are taken to the secret island base to train, but all she can focus on is rescuing Lilli, that is until they are betrayed. Someone leaked the location to the enemy - now all he!! will beak loose and who knows what can happen.
