Born and raised in the granite state of New Hampshire, Troy is a lifelong and avid reader of comic books and novels (mostly in the fantasy, sci-fi and adventure/thriller genres). The ongoing serial storytelling methods of comic books and television has always fascinated him and provided inspiration for his writing. He’s always had a love of creating and world building and dreams of someday seeing his creations expressed across all media: books, comic books, movies, TV and even toys.
When not writing, Troy can be found outside hiking, kayaking or out back at the bonfire with beer in hand. Don’t expect to bother him during football season, especially when the Patriots are playing.
I want to like this series, there are so many things going for it. I can't help but feeling, though, that the author misses the forest for the trees way too often. Despite having many things in common with the main protagonist, it is very difficult for me to identify with them, or like them. They unfortunately come across as small minded and whiny way too often. It seems like the main character just spins both of his time and energy feeling sorry for himself, and leaves me wondering why he is the protagonist. So much of the writer's time is spent exploring minutia, which has its place in the setting of a story, but it often feels excessive in this one. I keep coming back to this story, but too often I find myself wanting to set it aside because it is tedious or unexciting. It feels like the writer is trying to hard to build tension or express the feelings of the main characters, but maybe it's something else.
That said, there is a lot to be said for the story, that makes it far superior to most of the writing I will find on Kindle unlimited. I actually want to keep reading the story, and have taken the time to leave a review. Most of the things I find on here will lose me after half a chapter, so perhaps I am being too critical. I guess you could say I feel like this story could be so much better, so easily, and I keep wanting it to be. I'm hoping that it won't end up disappointing me in the long run.
The continuity errors finally got to me. The worst was when they took the spatial bag from Piper because the story needed the family to split up. In earlier books, Piper had to go with them because only she could use the spatial bag. This is the most egregious, but far from the only issue with the author keeping his story straight
Really did enjoy this book. The fight scenes were a bit drawn out for my taste. I do think the author can do so much with this series, and I will read the next book. After all, it's tough being in charge when you don't want to be in charge, be a parent, have guants as neighbors, nosey elves, and still have to find time to sleep.
I love Troy’s books always a great tale but sometimes it feels like they just fight all the time. I like conflict it causes growth but sometimes there’s not much growth. Overall a good addition to the series. I do look forward to figuring out what’s really going on.
One of the few books which get better over the series, the first two were VERY fighting oriented without a lot of story and characters. Now the story unfolds and promises to become a "real story", let's see what the 4th book brings
There aren't enough updates on Kelly... just sayin' it's a Brady family thing but she's rarely mentioned. There are so many troubles focusing on Clan Brady and it seems impossible that they'll survive. Limited food, limited equipment... untrained humans, limited training. Impossible!
Loving the book and the detail that Oshood puts into the storytelling to give you a more in-depth understanding of the characters and their actions. Heading to Book 4!
