A grimoire hidden in the basement. A parasite ring devouring my magic. Two covens and their hellhounds in a race to hunt me down.
You’d think with all that going on in a witch’s life, she’d have more important things to worry about than turning a profit at the farmers market festival, yet here I am. But hear me out, if my revitalized cider farm makes some money, that means my bills are paid, and if I’m not forced out of my farmhouse—which has been pretty good at keeping me hidden so far—I can focus my attention solely on unlocking the curse plaguing my family’s spell book.
Pretty straightforward, right?
Apparently not, because even though I’ve been diligent about keeping a low profile—besides occasionally flirting with that lumbersnack of a shifter, Arthur Greenwood—someone has a grudge against me and my cider business.
With each attack, I’m forced to delve into the magic I left behind, the same magic that gives those covens and their hellhounds the means to track me. If Sawyer and I don’t find this rogue spellcaster quick and force them to lift their hex, I might not have a farm—or a grimoire—to save.
Whatever the outcome, they picked the wrong hearth witch to mess with.

The Cider Hex is the second of Misty and Sawyer’s adventures in this novella series, Homesteader Hearth Witch.
The 2nd book in the Homesteader Hearth Witch series of novellas, this one finds Misty getting ready for Redbud's fall festive, which is kind of a big deal. Its an even bigger deal, because she is quickly running out of cash, and the results of the festival can make or break her apple farm.
Unfortunately, someone in the little town is angry at her. She doesn't know who, or why, but they are causing her trouble at every turn, including hexing her storage barn!
Its a race against time to figure out who the culprit is before the wipe out all of her supplies and ruin her farm.
Features: 🍏 A crafting circle with witches and a gnome.
🍁 A fall festival with a cider contest.
🍏 A talking kitty familiar that's adorable.
🍁 A very slow burn romance with a bear shifter lumberjack (lumbersnack as the crafting circle calls him Lol).
🌟 Overall, this book was a lot better paced than the first one. Loved the cozy settings and sweet townspeople. The mystery was fun to figure out and learning more about Sawyer's past was interesting. Just wish that these books were a little bit longer.
Going to read the third one in the series next. At least since they're so short, I can knock one out in a day or two. 🖤
I am officially IN LOVE with this little town and these characters. Brandi was freaking annoying but I understood her desperate actions at the end, Flora was my fierce gnome queen and I cried at the end for Ricky and Joe. Love all the hobs but still... Also the chemistry between Meadow/Misty and Arthur had me kicking my feet muuuuuultiple times. They are SO cute!! Definitely my new favorite cozy series.
Usually the “cozy” type of books can get a bit boring, but this series has managed to make the plot exciting, sweet, heartfelt, and on your toes for what will come next. The slow burn sprinkled in as well is 😘🤌🏻
This is the cutest little book, perfect follow up from the problem with pixies! I’m so in love with Sawyer and Arthur is still such a hottie ✨ Can’t wait for the next one.

Misty Fields (her alias since her real name cannot be revealed, lest her magical family find her) is magically marvelous! While running from her powerful magical family with the stolen fam grimoire so she can break the curse (by other witches that is stealing her family’s magic and possible their lives) Misty is struggling to survive on her own.
With a cast of zany, loyal acquaintances who adopt her against her will, she reluctantly becomes one of a close knit magical community as she battles to make a safe haven for herself and others on her homestead, within her new town.
As Misty, magical kitten Sawyer, and her hobgoblin family work to make delicious items to sell at the fall festival so their farm survives and thrives, Misty encounters a series of disasters that are too coincidental to be accidents and realizes she has been hexed.
Furious, since all she has done is attempt to get along and help others, Misty is determined to hunt down the hexer. Of course, she does keep running into a handsome helpful lumberjack who seems smitten with her, but she resolutely avoids him, since she must save her family - noooo time for romance!
When Misty does eventually find the offender, with the help of her new pals, it is not a surprise, she deals with the offense in an unexpected and surprising way, can’t wait to see what happens in Book 3.
An entertaining read, full of surprises and sweetness and a bit of spice and an absolutely worthwhile read
I loved the second book of the Homesteader Hearth Witches series just as much as I loved the first, if not more actually. It was everything cute, cozy and magical! Not to mention funny, I was cracking up reading this book.
This was a short read much like the first but, let me tell you it’s packed with a really good storyline. Just because a book is short it doesn’t mean it doesn’t have substance. Misty, a witch, is still trying to settle into her new home in a new town without really forming any attachments. But, she has a whole form with the cutest like pixies and hobgoblins and a very sassy cat, Sawyer. And she’s determined to make a living using the farm and try and figure out who’s cursed her family’s Grimoire at the same time.
She doesn’t really get a say in the whole not forming attachments thing though. This little town and it’s close knit community pushes their way in regardless if she wants it or not, it’s really charming. On top of all this she’s becoming friends with the older ladies in town and they are a hoot! Constantly pushing her towards Arthur, a shifter lumberjack who is super kind and sweet.. the angst and slow burn there is intense. There is zero spice but, there is tension and I really can’t wait to find out more in the next book. Happy reading all!

A great book! The author continues the world-building and adds more depth to some of o the characters. Also adds more characters. I'm jumping right into the next book!
Amazon synopsis: Apparently not, because even though I’ve been diligent about keeping a low profile—besides occasionally flirting with that lumbersnack of a shifter, Arthur Greenwood—someone has a grudge against me and my cider business.

This is my second Kat Healy book and the second in the Homesteader Hearth Witch series.
We catch up with Misty and Sawyer who are trying to revitalize the cider farm. As Misty hides in plain sight she suddenly becomes the target along side her farm. Cue the feline familiars, mischievous mushrooms, troublesome toads and rascally reptiles but are the animals friend or foe??? You’ll just have to read to find out!!!
My favorite quote was, “Beware the stag man who hunts in the forest deep. His arrows never miss a maidens heart to keep”. Sadly our dearest lumbersnack Arthur was just a footnote in this quick adventure. I know we will be hearing more about him via the town gossip and Kat’s third installment, Sourdough Troubles.
Can’t wait to continue getting to know the characters and find out if the coven and hellhounds are any closer to finding Kat and the stolen grimoire.
Thank you to the author, Kat Healy, and Booksprout for the opportunity to read this book.
Misty has settled the fairy folk who live in her orchard and garden. Now she has to focus on the reason for her running away from her family, except first she needs to get enough money to keep the orchard and its fairy and human inhabitants going. So bring on the Fall festival and its market stall for selling apple butter, baked treats and cider. With the help of the hobgoblins and a very handsome supernatural carpenter apprentice, Misty must prepare her goods, make sales, and find out what those black mushrooms are before it’s too late!
Another truly wonderful cozy fantasy adventure with great character development all round. Love the combinations of attitudes and activities, the brewed potions and delicious sounding edibles!
I have to wait for book 3 and 4 as they’re not out yet but I’m really looking forward to them!
This entire series is beautifully written! Easy to visualize the characters and the scenery! I want the “I’m not a familiar” familiar cat! He is so adorable! There are shifters and Other magical beings that I love! I want a birdhouse now set up with cotton alls and fir for fairies to live in all year! I’ve named the little white spider in our kitchen Mrs. White because of the one in these books! Mine has all 8 of her legs though! The spells are really wonderful! I craved apple butter and cinnamon rolls while reading these books! Pages flew by and I thought about these people long after I put my device on its charger! I will read everything this author writes! 5 stars! Each book can be read as a stand alone but you’ll want more at The End!
This is the second book in the series and is as delightful as the first.
Misty Fields (yeah, yeah..., great fake name for hiding out, right?) is lying low (or at least trying to) on a farmstead while trying to earn money through her apple products, employ her hobs, bond with her kitten (not her familiar! Yet), and amass what she needs to confront the cursed grimoire under the floorboards, and do it before the witches she knows are after her can find her.
Anyways, the story is wonderful. You learn a lot more about Sawyer and about familiars in general. The conflicts and the resolution work very well. I eagerly await the next book in the series.
Second novella in the series is all about the fall festival and getting the cider and apple butter and cinnamon rolls all together ready. There is a mishap with a hex and more of the love interest Arthur popping up in this book.
Transitioning from the first pixies book to this book I was really hoping for more of an introduction to the Cider Mill and the Apple farm in general. I thought there would be more introduction to the Hobs. I do like the cozy romance vibe from Arthur's character. He isn't forced on Misty and it seems like more of a innocent budding relationship. Still waiting to see what's going on with the Grimoire
This is just a fun series to read - really, light and enjoyable reading with characters that are fun to read about. This is the second in an on-going series - that I can't wait to read the rest of.
Kat and Sawyer are busy trying to save the farm when things go a bit awry.....(wink) and all the fun begins (and adventure).
Ready for the next installment of this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a suspenseful mystery that will keep you reading until you find you are on the last page. There are some twists and turns as Misty is trying to find out who put a hex on her farm she is desperately trying to make a profit on. The characters are well developed and likeable. You can feel the frustration and overwhelm Misty is experiencing via the authors detail. I would definitely recommend a series and this author to others. It's an awesome read.

This was a fun and well-paced story, with excellent character development and a great plot to pull the reader right into the story line. This was exactly what I needed as I immediately liked Misty Fields who was trying so hard to make her farm sustainable and to break the curse she is under before her enemies catch up to her. The events easily held my attention and created emotional attachments to the main character and her friends so that I cared what happened to her. The story is definitely worth your time to read and enjoy!
If you need a fun, light, quick palette cleanser from reading, this series is it! I was in a rut and no books I picked up we’re doing it for me until I started on the first book of this series. I wasn’t hopeful because the rut was SO BAD; but oh man was I wrong to doubt. Between the laughs, the easy going plot that kept me guessing, the banter between characters; this fantasy small town series was just thing. I’ve been blazing through them…. On to book 3!
This is the second in a wonderful series, I adore the world the author has created and the characters and the magical creatures that inhabit this book from cute familiars to tricky toads and so much more, I'm have been drawn in to this world, love getting to now the characters and I eagerly await the next book .

I enjoyed the second book of the series greatly. The mystery was entertaining and I really enjoyed getting to learn more about the main character and side characters. One of the things I’ve really enjoyed about Kat Healy’s works is that the side characters are all really cool and getting to learn more about them this time around was great. Looking forward to book 3!
Quick and fun read. Book 2 follows Misty/ Meadow as she juggles fixing up the farm, preparing produce to ask at the festival and working on the grimoire. Love all the quirky side characters especially adorable Sawyer.

Yet again, Kat Healy pulls me into the warm hug that is the Homesteader Hearth Witch series! This, just as the first book, The Problem with Pixies, was such a cozy read. Quick, light, and fun! I am dying to learn more about 'Misty's' past. What exactly happened to her family, and what is our beloved Lumbersnack hiding? Will we discover the secrets behind the dreaded family grimoire? I just adore Misty's growth since moving to a small town. The adjustments she has made. Her maturity in dealing with all of it, even the drama of our sneaky little trouble maker. The community she is building for herself without even really trying. It's beautiful and natural. I love how Kat developed these relationships to Misty. Nothing is forced, it seems genuine, and each characters personality shines through. Bravo Kat Healy on another wonderful book! 👏
It's a well written and very sweet series so far. It definitely has a cozy vibe and is one of those books that makes the world seem a little bit better. Only gripe is that each book is super short. They definitely need to be longer so I don't finish them so quickly!
This series has fulfilled my cottage core dreams, it was truly hard to put my tablet down. I am so excited for the next books. If you're someone who loves a good witchy romance, a cozy mystery and all around Hygge vibes then this series is for you. Definitely recommend!!.

This was good. The bad guy was predictable but the why of it was a surprise. I loved the characters relationships with one another building and this is probably the first sewing circle I’ve ever wanted to join. Overall, it was an excellent installment in the series that I will certainly be reading more of.
A scorned woman, and her unwilling companion toad, wreak havoc on Misty’s farm, including her Cider, apple cider Vinegar and her entry for Best Wassail in the Fall Festival. But the scheme is foiled by a pair of cats, Arthur and Ame. Simple fun and humble togetherness are hallmarks of the author’s work.
Such a fun story. Misty had no idea what she was in for when she moved to Redbud and her farm. Fortunately she has the help of the hobs and pixies who live there, and Sawyer. And who knew that a jealous witch could cause such havoc.
This series keeps getting better and better with each book. The reader gets paranormal characters, humor, mystery, touch of romance and well developed plot line. Can't wait for the next book.
This second installment was well written and kept me coming back for more thanks to the entertaining characters. I can't wait to see what Kat Healy has in store for us next.

Enjoying the series! The characters feel like friends that you can’t wait to see at the next sewing circle, and you know they’ll have your back even at the witching hour.
I'm enjoying this series immensely. When the hobs and Misty decide to sell their goods at a festival in order to support the homestead, things get complicated. I love how the community works together. And I love the flirtation of Misty and Arthur. The addition of Sawyer adds an adorable interest.
