A key to paradise isn’t the same thing as entry.
After a tumultuous childhood, Roy Fernsby now runs a quaint London coffee shop that his friends frequent, cycles on Sundays... and keeps his distance from romantic relationships. Though Roy’s charming and well-liked, being single suits him—if only because it helps him avoid the sting of abandonment. Besides, Roy likes his life exactly as it is.

Then, a lawyer in Hawai’i calls Roy to inform him that he’s just inherited a beach house in Nalu from his grandparents. There’s just one problem: a former foster child, Roy never knew he had grandparents.

Roy doubts this newly discovered “family” ever cared about him. But a tropical island—complete with a beach house inheritance—beckons. He takes a chance and flies to Hawai’i, expecting to stay a week and sell the beach house. Fast. What he isn’t anticipating is the resentment and painful childhood memories that resurface as he uncovers the roots of a close-knit family he never knew he had. Why didn’t any of these folks, whom everyone adored, look for him?

Then he meets Amy, a former New Yorker and single mother who works as a snorkeling guide. Though the pair are from opposite worlds—literally—and neither is looking for a relationship, their connection is instant, and they’re soon spending a lot of time together.

Roy tells himself that Amy’s only a nice distraction, even as he falls for her. But Amy has her own secrets... and a hidden agenda that involves Roy and his beach house.

As Roy grapples with life-changing secrets regarding his past, he must make difficult decisions about his present: Can he embrace his roots and let go of resentment? Can he trust Amy? Can he stay and seek the truth about where he belongs—no matter the cost to his guarded heart?

This novel was such a joy to read. Sometimes you have no idea who family is, whether biological or not.

This novel follows Roy Fernsby and his journey to find a family that he never knew of. When he finds out he has inherited a home in Hawaii, he had no idea of his grandparents. He has been a foster child for years who eventually found a forever home and brother. He leaves London and his coffee shop and journeys to Hawaii. He wants to go and sell the home and go back to London.

He finds clues from his past and meets a neighbor. Amy is a single mother with a young son. His quick trip turns into something more than he ever managed and takes him places to discover more about his past.

Full of charm, hard decisions and bonds that bind people together. The scenery is breathtaking. Hawaii is on my bucket list.

Thank you Suzy Approved Book Tours for this enchanting novel. I look forward to more of this authors work.

TITLE: EIGHT WEEKS LATER
AUTHOR: GT London
PUB DATE: 03.08.2024 Now Available

I love a good love story with mystery and secrets about a found family in a beach house setting in Hawaii. The story is about Roy living in London, who suddenly discovers that he just inherited a beach house. While there, he not only unlocks the keys to his new home, but also discovers much about his painful past in some unexpected turn of events. This book had everything I loved - the charming characters, the beautiful setting, and a well written story that was hard to put down.

Whenever I read a book and I get chills all over, for me, this means that I’ve just experienced All. The. Feels! Eight Weeks Later did this to me!

Any author that can do this to me automatically becomes a new favorite author.

I so rarely read contemporary or romance but decided that because of the locale of Hawaii’i, I might enjoy it. Well, the locale WAS everything and this book was a love story to Hawaii’i.

And then, in addition, we get a wonderful MC - Roy, an amazing beach house, and a mystery of Roy’s family that he didn’t know he had. Throw in the cat Cheddar, and the dog Curly, and the cute kid, and a little romance, oh, and coffee beans… And you end up with a beautiful story. Mahalo to the author!

I loved learning about the culture of Hawaii and even though I’ve been there a couple of times, I learned more in Eight Weeks Later than the entire 3 weeks I spent on the islands. I can’t wait to return later this year and truly try to immerse myself more into the culture.

*Thank you so much to the author, G. T. London, and to Suzy Approved Book Tours for the gifted copy and for including me on the book tour!*

Good start but quickly becomes just a fluff read that is predictable. Could have been a nice short story but as a book it was alot of wasted time filled with build up after build up to get to the happy ending you knew was coming

Eight Weeks Later is a heartfelt search for family and meaning, across oceans and continents. Roy, a former foster child, is living a solitary, quiet life in London when he learns he’s inherited a beach house in Hawaii from grandparents he’s never known. Amy is a single mom, working as a snorkeling guide. As their lives intersect, both are provided a needed connection, but there are still secrets waiting to unravel. I enjoyed taking this journey with both Roy and Amy, as they discovered that home is less of a place, and more about the people we love.

This book was an easy, quick, read because it was hard to put down. The protagonist Roy, adopted as a child, grew up thinking he had no family after his mom dies and his father and stepmother gave him away. When he finds out he has inherited a house in Hawaii from his maternal grandparents, this is where his life changes for him as he embarks on a journey to find out who all his family is, where are they and all the why’s. His life it is about to change…. You decide if it is for the better or worse. Suffering from detachment disorder, trust is a big issue. The book has emotional and family heritage in it with some mystery intertwined. I would definitely recommend this book.

EIGHT WEEKS LATER was a nice departure from the typical romance books I have read. This one has plenty of mystery and secrets mixed in to keep things interesting. The author also does a fantastic job of detailing the beautiful setting of Hawaii. As Roy unravels the mystery of his biological family, there are quite a few twists and turns. If you are looking for something a bit different, I can highly recommend this one!

Many thanks to Mavitae Publishing and G.T. London for my gifted copy.

First, I have to say I loved this book. I liked the fact that it’s told in first person and that the main character is male (Roy). I liked that we dive into Roy’s feelings as this book gives us romance, found family, and even has a mystery with a few twists. I don’t see how anyone cannot love a setting of Hawaii for this book or the fact that there are pets involved.

Eight Weeks Later…finished in one day. I was immediately sucked in with the story line and the amazing location of Hawaii. Only thing that would’ve been better is if I was reading this book holding a cocktail in the warm tropical sun! Author G.T. London had written a heartwarming story about love and the importance of Ohana.
Roy arrives in Hawaii with questions and a short timeline to get them. He was adopted at a young age and is shocked to learn he had grandparents and that they left him their family home. Hawaii is nothing like his hometown of London but the sunsets, the food, and the people are making his trip most pleasant.
Roy goes through photos and talks to the locals to try and get information about his mother. If his grandparents knew he existed why didn’t they come for him? How did his mother end up in London? As the days and weeks pass Roy will make friends and start to enjoy the laid back community his family is from but it’ll take much longer than he expected to get all his questions answered. When Roy walked through the gate of his grandparents home he had no idea how his life would be turned upside down. He will be dealt with some hard truths but these discoveries will help him discover who he really is.

Roy was in and out of foster homes until he found his forever home when he was nine. He lives in London and owns a coffee shop. One day a lawyer informs him he has inherited a beach house in Hawaii from his grandparents. Being a foster child, Roy never knew he had grandparents. Roy decides to go to Hawaii for a week to sell the house and take his planned vacation to see the world.

When Roy goes to Hawaii, he finds a house on a beautiful island with a gorgeous view of the beach. He begins to wonder why his grandparents never tried to find him. What ensues is Roy's search for information about his family while confronting his past.

Then Roy meets Amy, a snorkeling guide and mother to young Sean. There is an instant attraction but because of his abandonment issues, he tries to keep her at arms length. He starts falling for Amy and her young son Sean. But when secrets are revealed can he trust her?

Eight weeks later has wonderful characters and I adored Sean and Cheddar the cat. The beautiful descriptions of Hawaii, the animals and food had me wishing I was in Hawaii. It is a story of secrets, romance, suspense, relationships and family.

I enjoy stories involving life changing events and the found family that results from them. Set in Hawaii, the author includes a list of words that are found throughout the book and their meaning in the beginning and I liked reading those first so I didn't have to stop in the story to look them up. It's an interesting novel filled with intriguing characters and lots of growth and development. Roy and Amy had so much to learn about each other and I loved the beautiful happily ever after that their lives became.

REVIEW: Surprisingly something significant happens nearing the end of this novel that catapults it to a 5 star 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 read for me!

Emotionally wrapped up in “Eight Weeks Later”, G.T. London grabs my heartstrings and once again ties it up with a pretty little bow! I loved it!

Leaving behind his coffee shop, “Pages and Beans” Cafe in London, Roy is on his way to Hawaii after finding out he inherited a beach house from grandparents he never knew he had. On a quest to find out anything he can about his childhood and family, he is facing strangers he’s not sure he can trust, a beautiful woman who he is immediately smitten with and the choices he is confronted with as his history is unfolding.

Roy is in a hurry to return to his life in London but is delayed due to the truths he is unraveling and how desperately he wants to find his family, its legacy and how he became a foster child.

Finding the people closest to his grandmother, Claire and Aunt Melina divulge truths and guide Roy to his “ohana”.
Amy, Roy’s friend is so much more than that. She has a few secrets of her own that grasp Roy by the heart. On his search for another name in his Aunts diary, Kimo and his family become affluent in his new life. Between Roy’s discoveries, the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands and his own drive to finding the answers that so remotely affected his upbringing has him staying longer and digging deeper to hopefully bring his life to a full circle.

“Eight weeks Later” has deception, secrets and love all while encompassing the Hawaiian heritage and what is behind the word family “ohana”. G.T. London did such an amazing job with character development and sharing with us the beauty in Hawaii and its culture.

I highly recommend this novel for anyone who enjoys contemporary fiction, family, romance and some suspense, it really has it all!

G.T. London, the Author of “Eight Weeks Later” brings up two questions: “What is Home?” and “What is a Family”? In this beautifully written book, the author introduces us to Roy Fernsby, who has adjusted to the live he is used to. After his mother died in an accident, Roy went to several Foster Homes, and finally found a family that showed him love and security. As an adult, Roy owns a quaint coffee shop in London. A laywer from Hawaii contacts Roy with startling information that Roy has inherited land in Hawaii, that had belonged to a grandmother he never knew he had. The thought of a tropical island and a beach house has him very curious. Roy wonders why none of this family looked for him sooner.

The Genres for this book are Contemporary Fiction, Suspense, Mystery, Family Drama and Contemporary Romance. The author vividly describes the islands, scenery, and colorful and dramatic characters. I love that there is a cat with a strong personality, and a dog that gets into mischief. Roy is ambivalent about staying or going home, but many of the neighbors, welcome him as family. There are secrets within his family, that caused danger for them. Someone is tampering with the house, and things are getting broken. Roy falls off a ladder that he doesn’t realize is broken. As he investigates, he learns of mysterious disappearance and threats.

Roy tries not to have any romantic attachments because of his early abandonment issues. As Roy is trying to find his family identity and his own, he realizes many things. There are twists and turns, and some shocking moments in this story. I highly recommend this story for others.

It was so nice to read Roy's story and discover his past along with him. I enjoyed getting to see Dasia and Luke again a bit. (From Second Chances and Then Some)

Roy was adopted as a young boy. Now he's found out that grandparents, he didn't know he had, left him their beach house in Hawaii.
When he goes there to assess and sell fast, he starts to find out about his family and the mystery of it.

I loved this amazing cast of characters (don't tell but Aunt Melina is my fav). The ones who help Roy find his true ohana and become his ohana are just wonderfully fleshed out and bring so much joy into his life and made me smile.

Eight Weeks Later is a story that's told in the first person narrative Roy, a man who believed he had no family after a rollercoaster childhood in and out of foster homes. But then he gets a phone call telling him that he's inherited a home in Hawaii from his deceased grandparents- relatives he never even knew that he had. What follows is Roy's journey through connection, self- discovery, and letting go of the past in order to hopefully move forward into his future. Sad, but hopeful, Roy's journey brings readers into beautiful Hawaii and inspires second chances, forgiveness, and discovering the truth.

I wasn't sure about this book at first because of the writing style, but the story proved me wrong. It was an interesting tale that I did not see coming as it unfolded. Some major twists and turns while the main character Roy finds himself. And his story is a sad one, with a rough childhood. The romance is sweet and slow, but not descriptive. For those that like closed door, this is along those lines. This book has some hard topics that it dives into but watching the mysteries unfold and the discovery of a heritage is one you won't want to miss. Lastly, the description of the places Roy visits (and even the food and architecture!) were my favorite parts, as well as anything to do with Aunty Melina. The best part to me though, which was minor to the story, was his coffee shop: Pages and Beans Cafe. Who wouldn't love a book themed cafe?!?

This was an enjoyable story with a few twists and turns. It definitely kept me guessing. It only lost its fifth star due to some painful cheesiness! It was just a bit overkill for my liking. I now want a holiday in Hawaii, I could do with all that sun and warmth. A great read for a cold and damp December!

Roy has been raised in foster care and was finally adopted. So when a lawyer calls and tells him he inherited a house in Hawaii, he is flabbergasted. He had no idea he even had a family!

Roy is a character which I fell for right from the first. He is a bit rough around the edges but he gradually begins to loosen up (who wouldn’t in this beautiful state!). I love how his plans change the longer he stays and how love just might be in the cards.

I love a good family mystery this novel has one of the bests! PLUS…the great setting of Hawaii!

I love when characters from one of an author’s books show up in their other books. It was great to learn more about Roy’s life past and present and his story was intriguing. My heart ached for the time he spent in foster care plus all the losses he suffered as a child and later discovered as an adult. The Hawaii setting was spectacular and Cheddar the cat was an added bonus!

With found family, second chance love, small town vibes, a lush Hawaii setting, and a foster child all grown up, this novel takes you on a journey with the MMC Roy from the past to the present, while paving the way for a beautiful future. I enjoyed this book so much! The layered story web that G.T. London created kept me intrigued with Roy’s mysterious past and eager to discover what the future held. I rooted for him, while also perched on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next! Also, I loved all the family dynamics of this book, particularly Roy’s relationship with the Hawaiians and a little boy with a beautiful momma. Great read!
