Kensington Gore's Diary: Another Year Closer To Death

Rate this book
Kensington Gore is Hammered Horror's last great writer/directors he describes himself as an iconic leg end. He's a fiery flamboyant character that some might find scary and shocking. He's old school, controversial, a little offensive and so NOT PC! His diary, Another Year Closer To Death, offers us a privileged glimpse into his life as he struggles to get his last great horror movie off the ground. He fights to come to terms with old age and being dumped on the movie scrapheap. Most importantly of all, his attempts to keep his beloved wife Marge, a former movie siren, in the lavish lifestyle she is accustomed too. Another Year Closer To Death is at times a touching, gritty, very funny and comedic look into the life of an old dog that refuses to be taught any new tricks and just will not lie down. With a foreword by LA's hardest working horror actress, Maria Olsen http: //www.imdb.com/name/nm1864017/ Maria said "Kenny's book, Another Year Closer to Death, will appeal to everybody at some stage of their lives, perhaps while they're waiting for a hanging jury to decide their fate, and is a stunningly funny romp of a read!" "Reading Kensington Gore is a bit like standing naked in front of a mirror; it leaves one both amused and frightened." Said top horror actor Bill Oberst Jr http: //imdb.to/WpwDCK Kensington's grandson Wayne said "Kensington Gore's life is like a sit-com but without the laughter track." "WARNING! If you read this book you might very well die laughing!" Kensington Gor

Kensington Gore is the infamous Hammered Horror film director, that according to myth and legend fake theatre and movie blood was named after.

One of Horror's most shocking founding fathers Kensington Gore has always courted controversy with some of his banned classics "The Mummy's Ring" "Kiss of the Spider Monkey!" and The Human Caterpillar!"

That are soon to be turned into books, with a unique first for books "Director's Commentaries!"

After a twenty year break, and reports of his death being somewhat exaggerated, he's back writing and directing.

His latest film might have you hitting the Road to Hell, he's trying to get a distributor for his Werewolves Of London. Also he works in radio and TV.

Kensington owns his own publishing company where he works closely with up and coming writers. He does a lot of work for charity, that he doesn't like to talk about.

And the rest of his life Kenny, as he is known to his friends, is working on his eagerly awaited biography "The Whole Gorey Storey!" Though it might not be finished until he is.

His diaries are a mix between Anne Frank, Adolf Hitler and Adrian Mole! And as about as funny as all three put together.

Bloody funny.... :-)

Kensington Gore is a semi-retired horror film director with a penchant for puns. Though I often found myself giggling and guffawing at his wit and witticisms, this is actually a deeper interest story ... a snapshot of a real man living a real life (though strictly I'm unsure how much of it is actually made up).

Poignant at times but always captivating, Kenny's struggle to cope with family issues, his running battle with his nemesis, and his unending desire to make that "one last epic horror" film make this much more than merely a diary full of double entendre (or just out-and-out entendre), but a time capsule of the life of a man who refuses to give in or give up in his dreams and ambitions.

Many of the instances of real-time events (such as Wimbledon, the Jubilee and the Olympics) had me thinking, "I remember that!" and/or agreeing with the unique view of the author.

This is not a book for the young or easily offended, but if you're open minded, have an interest in humor or behind-the-scenes detail, this is definitely one which I would recommend.
