First off, this collection of poems needs to be cherished. Rosa Lane’s modern day take on Emily Dickinson is beautifully crafted, reimagined, and wrapped in a neat little bow with spice that will keep you rereading this collection over and over. I met Rosa last March at a local bookshop where she read her poems from this collection alongside another great poet, Betsy Sholl.
My favorite part of this collection is that Rosa does not hold anything back.
I was the youngest audience member and it was wonderful.
I had to look up a lot of the words in this collection, mostly due to the higher level of sophistication, and I wanted to understand the meaning behind the words in the context during Emily Dickinson’s timeline.
