Saving Her Soul

Rate this book
A Most Inconvenient Love

Nothing interesting happens in Yarensport, a sleepy community on the sleepier planet of Qahrain. Not until the Temple announces a new priestess has been assigned to oversee the souls of thousands.

Farmgirl Sulim di’Graelic isn’t devout. Yet when she attends Priestess Mira’s first sermon, she swears she’s had a religious experience.

Love at first sight. Infatuation in its finest form.

When Mira saves Sulim’s life during a violent invasion, it feels like fate. When she follows her heart to the Temple, it can only be destiny.

Yet Mira pushes her away. Because it’s inappropriate. Because Sulim is human, and Mira belongs to the long-living sorcerer class, the julah. Death will inevitably tarnish their love.

A Romance that Defies Death

Mira Dunsman, the incognito daughter of the High Priest, knows that Sulim is her soulmate. But giving in to love isn’t as easy as defying the tenets of the Temple and ruining her career to be with her intern.

She will outlive Sulim by thousands of years.

Yet when Mira and Sulim finally bow to fate, they’re set on a path of passion and heartbreak that will define Sulim’s whole life… and crater the rest of Mira’s.

Unless some powerful friends find a way to save Sulim’s soul from eternal rest.

They must hurry. Death waits for no one – not even love.

SAVING HER SOUL is set in an alternate universe of CROSS//. It is a standalone fantasy romance starring Sulim and Cairn in another possible timeline.

Hildred M. Billings

Hildred M. Billings is the epic fantasy pen-name for literary and lesfic romance author Hildred Billings. Although all of her stories have WLW relationships at their heart, it was paramount to separate fantasy from contemporary literature and romance - thus, she crammed her middle initial in there, and is forever grateful that her mother didn't name her Margaret Diane instead. Margaret D. Billings just doesn't have the same ring.

A long time lover of all things fantasy, Hildred got into the genre when, at the tender age of 11, she discovered her mother's cache of first edition Anne McCaffrey novels. Since then, she's spent untold hours reading works like A Song of Ice and Fire, His Dark Materials, and The Kushiel Trilogy. She is also an avid gamer who enjoys fantasy RPGs and action-adventure works. She grew up with The Legend of Zelda and graduated to The Elder Scrolls as an adult. She likes character heavy fiction that tells a bigger tale than the action itself.

Even when writing fantastical fiction that tests the boundaries of the universe, Hildred wants all of her stories to have, at their heart, a relatable emotion that can speak to most of humanity.

Currently, she lives in Portland, OR, and spends most of her time daydreaming about what her characters will do next.

This is not a short read... but it's worth every one of its fifty chapters.

This is a tale of finding your soulmate, even if it's against expectations and societal wants.

Of finding love when it isn't needed, wanted, convenient, or anything other than fate/Void-driven.

Of making the most of the love you share with your human soulmate, whose life span seems nothing more than a ripple on the surface of the lake of your long existence.

This is a fantasy love story that will grip you, break you, before finally glueing your fractured heart back together with a joyful hope.

After receiving an email from one of my favorite authors that her new book was available, I jumped at the chance to read it! This story of very different from the usual. A sapphic fantasy romance that is quite the book at over 700 pages long. Not that I noticed it as I was reading. This story hooked me in from the beginning and I became quite ensconced in Sulim and Mira’s story. The world building is fascinating. There are so many places and people and societies and it just flows beautifully and cohesively. Our main couple is well fleshed out from beginning to end. They grow and develop naturally both separately and as a couple. Finding your soulmate, the love of your life, in a way that goes against everything you are taught and yet. Yes and yet. It’s a beautiful story. Interesting. Engaging. Captivating. Highly recommend!.

Soul mates

This is a sci-fi romance that is just WOW. I really don't care for sci-fi but since Hildred wrote it I just had to read it. This book takes you through the life of Sulim and Mira. They learn that they are soulmate and their love for each other is so strong that they are willing to be together no matter what people say or try to do. They fight for their love and with the help of a mothers love for her daughter. This story takes you through lots of emotions and you hope for love in the end. Trying not to give away to much but this will be a story that I will remember. Yes to more stories of their lives thank you.

A tear jerker for sure but there’s a happy ending. It is a long one, but I finished it in a day and half. I enjoyed reading the book but I could see where there could be parts where others could get bored. This isn’t an action packed story in terms of fighting or battles. I’d be interested more in how Lady Joiya intends to keeps reincarnating Sulim and if she will always come back to Mira when she turns 20? I loved how the author foreshadowed things as well. There’s no spice either, it’s more so fade to black. This didn’t bother me but I know it might others.

It was an interesting novel. Ms Billings out did herself in this story. I admired Sulim for her love with the priestess Mira. A love against all odds and time. Talking about fiction, this definitely defines scifi. Recommended. Although it had over 700 pages. A tear jerker with a happy ending.
