Marianne’s healing journey is evidently rooted in so much self-reflection and mindfulness. It is a testimony to the incredible strength of community connection, and the importance of being able to appreciate it. It takes gratitude to bring moments of peace and clarity among chaos. It is up to a lot of little, previously insignificant moments to propel those who have experienced a serious loss forward. I haven’t experienced such an intense loss, but I feel more prepared knowing that grief is not always a solitary experience. Human compassion is often overlooked in today's increasingly pessimistic and online-rooted society, so this book is an important reminder of the huge impact that human togetherness can foster. It is a dedication to ourselves to be more mindful of how we show up for others when they need it. I best grow through challenges in my alone time, but I think Marianne’s perspective has a place in everyone's life, including mine. Beyond tragic accidents, the people we surround ourselves with are a dictating factor in the outcome of our own lives.
