Sometimes love is more than tragedy or bliss. Ambitious 22-year-old Lexie Waters is intent on taking the advertising world by storm. When she's offered the soon to be open position she's been vying for at a swanky advertising agency, there's only one last summer separating her from dreams of corporate success. Still bitter from catching her boyfriend cheating, she heads out for a night of fun to see her favorite band, Devil's Garden, but fun turns into utter embarrassment when she insults the enticingly confident lead singer, Van Sinclair. Van is intrigued by Lexie's ability to resist his charm and secretly obtains her cell number. Shocked but eager to get to know this captivating rocker, Lexie accepts Van's invitation to see his next show, which requires an overnight stay. The overwhelming feelings that follow take them both by surprise, and with two months left before starting her sought after new position, Lexie joins the tour. As she's catapulted into the world of groupies and wild parties, she questions Van's commitment to her. So what happens at summer's end when time runs out?
Romance author by night, pharmacist by day, Amy Gale loves rock music and the feel of sand between her toes. She attended Wilkes University where she graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. In addition to writing, she enjoys baking, scary movies, rock concerts, and reading books at the beach. She lives in the lush forest of Northeastern Pennsylvania with her husband, six cats, and golden retriever.
I loved the chemistry between the characters and it made me want to take off and go on tour with a band. Very well written. Being with a rocker isn't all it's cracked up to be, but what is? If you love hot rockers and fantasize about what it would be like to be with one, this book is for you.
I was provided a copy of this book by the author through Crazy Daisy Book Whore's blog on Facebook for an honest review.
Okay I had to give this book three stars because it just lacked a whole lot. The idea and story were pretty good but there were too many cons for me to make a real connection with this book. I will start off with the things that did not click for me.
I found myself really hating the female lead Lexie. She is a little to whiny, selfish, self absorbed and sometimes an outright childish bitch. I did like somethings about her like who she was when she was around Van, but sometimes they were a little suffocation when they were together. I liked that she had a very strong will to use her degree and try to make her career work before dropping her life for a man she just met. Having said that I hated the way her career played out. It just didn't work for me and neither did the way she acted at work. Another thing that did not work for me was the pace of the book. It seemed to dwell on insignificant things rather than where the story would eventually head. It jumped from one thing to the next pretty fast and the only real thing that went in depth was...well I will get into that during the pros ;).
Van Sinclair is the epitome of rocker when we are first introduced but then his rocker persona quickly shits from manwhore to love sick puppy. Which don't get me wrong is nice when it is executed properly, but after a first meet he is hooked. It never really elaborated on why he was so drawn to her other than he wanted what he couldn't have.
Okay okay okay...enough of the cons because those just drag me down and I really hate to harp on things...now time for the pros.
The sexual chemistry between Van and Lexie as awesome. I loved the sex scenes as they were very believable and were written pretty well. I do think a little more description wouldn't hurt them, but they are pretty steamy the way they are. There are quite a bit of steamy sex scenes between them. I do love the devotion that Van shows toward Lexie and the one she shows towards him when her head isn't shoved up her ass. I liked that Van was very protective of her and wanted to keep her safe. I also loved the friendship between Jenna and Lexie and how it grew throughout the story. I did like the fact that Devil's Garden band wasn't your typical drug, sex and alcohol band and the members seemed to be okay. I am definitely a fan of the way it ended.
If you like rocker romance then this book is right up your alley. I just didn't connect with it, but that doesn't mean that you won't. I looked at some other reviews of people that really raved and loved it, but it just wasn't for me.
****4 ½- Fab Debut -Stars**** ~I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review~ ~this review contains minor spoilers~
“First time backstage?” “I’m sadly a backstage virgin.” I breathe slowly, trying to steady my pulse. “Not many of the other girls I met today can say that, judging by the things they were saying to me.” He flashes a wry grin. “Nothing like what you said to me of course.” “I’m not a use-me-and lose-me groupie.” I press my lips into a hard line and cross my arms. He smirks. “These girls come half-naked to our concerts with the hopes of banging a rocker for the sheer purpose of bragging rights. Now, who’s using who?”
Well, that was not at all what I expected. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it just took me by surprise. For a rocker book, it was a lot tamer than I'm used to, not quite so dark, dirty, and edgy. I still liked it, quite a bit actually, I just didn't fall head over heels in love with it.
Stay or walk away? There’s no way I can walk away from him, I’ve really known that from the beginning. No matter what the rational part of my mind tells me, I’ve been his from the first time those emerald eyes locked onto mine.
Lexie has just finished college and has landed her dream job. Before she takes the advertising world by storm, she's ready to spend her last summer of freedom living it up. Fresh off a breakup with her cheating ex, Jesse, she heads out with the girls to celebrate graduation at a concert of one of her favorite up and coming bands Devils Garden. Back stage passes bring her face to face with lead singer, Van Sinclair.
“Hey babe, want a drink?” My muscles tense and my jaw clenches. Sure, first they ask you if you’d like a drink and the next minute you’re walking in on them screwing another girl. No thanks! There’s no way I will be sweet talked into sex, no matter how enchanting this rock star is. “Listen, I’m not your babe and I’m definitely not sleeping with you!” I shout. Oh my God, did I just say that out loud? My stomach knots as I replay the words in my mind. I really need to establish some control over the filter between my brain and my mouth. I’ve just insulted the lead singer of one of my favorite bands while backstage at his show! Am I insane?
After insulting Van and adamantly resisting his charms, she never expects him to want to talk to her again-but he does. Secretly obtaining her cell number, he wastes no time contacting her again and inviting her too another concert....which involves an overnight stay.
I hope you’re not mad that I hacked your cell phone. I just don’t want tonight to be the last time we talk. My entire body trembles and my stomach twitches. As usual, my insecurities dominate my mind. Why would someone like Van Sinclair want to get to know me better? Sparks fly and they're both surprised by the connection they feel. Van has never been in any kind of a relationship before and having recently been cheated on, Lexie is understandably insecure. But they both want to see where this could possibly go, so Van invites Lexie along on tour. She's got several months before her new job starts, so she takes the plunge and goes for it. Thrust into life on the road and surrounded by groupies will take some getting used to, but she wants to spend the time with Van so she adjusts...mostly. But Van living the life of a rock-n-roll god causes her to question weather or not he could ever really be faithful or committed to her. What happens in the fall when she starts her new job and he continues on tour without her but still surrounded by lots and lots of half-naked temptation, not to mention the fact they live in two separate states? How can you make a relationship work when you already have so much working against you?
The rational part of my brain is telling me this relationship will most definitely turn out to be a train wreck, but my heart doesn’t care. From the day we met, a fire ignited inside of me. My body quivers and I become breathless every time he’s near me. It’s a unique experience, probably something I’ll never encounter again. It’s an undying passion flowing through every pore in my body.
My only real problems with the book were 1) It's told entirely from Lexie's POV. I'm one of those people that likes to get in the head of both main characters, it helps me connect to them better. As such, I never really got a full grasp of Van. He was sweet, funny, super-sexy, and romantic as hell, I'll give him that, I just wanted to know him better if that makes sense. 2) I am not a real big fan of insta-love and this skated that line. 3) Lexie came across as kind of immature, her 'voice', so to speak, seemed very young to me. She leaned heavily towards the over-dramatic and tended to drastically overreact to situations. I did, however, love Jenna. She was a snarky bitch who took control but was loyal as hell to those she loved and held close. And the ending was just the sweetest thing ever, I loved it. I would recommend this book to those who love a sweet romance. Fab debut for Author Amy Gale, I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next.
“My world changed the moment I met you. I never knew what was missing. Everything’s better when you’re here and nothing’s right without you. I never feel as good as I do when you’re by my side or as bad as I do when you’re away from me. So far it’s been a blissful tragedy.

Blissful Tragedy is a book by Amy L Gale. This is the first book I have read by this author, and as always, the excitement of something new is high. Breathless is what Lexi feels while gazing up at Van Sinclair singing on stage at a Devil’s Garden concert. She is attending with her sister, Sydney and her best friend, Brooke. They all have passes to get backstage after the concert. Once she lays eyes on him up close, in the flesh, she immediately blurts out that she is not a groupie and she won’t sleep with him. She thinks she has totally blown their first meeting, but she seems to intrigue Van, so they go for a walk to get to know one another. Meeting him is an experience she will never forget, and she cannot stop thinking about him. He somehow manages to get her number and daves his to her phone, and textes her as she is drifting off to sleep. “I hope you’re not mad that I hacked your cell phone. I just don’t want tonight to be the last time we talk.” Van sends her a ticket to his next show and tells her he wants to spend some time on the beach to get to know her more. The standard of this book is extremely high, the characters are easy to follow, the story an addictive one. I am really excited to get to know them more. This build up is incredibly alluring and ultimately intoxicating. Their first kiss on the beach is sultry, with a promise of things to come. The kiss is so potent, it leaves Lexie weak in the knees. She tries to keep it light, thinking that an inevitable broken heart is in her future. Lexie doesn’t have faith that their fledgling relationship can progress into something meaningful, as Van is always on the road and infidelity is a very real risk. She does not want him to use, then lose her. (Borrowed that line). When Van invites Lexie to tour with him for a few months before she starts work, she is wary. But her excitement and craving to be with him far outweighs any hesitation she may have. Life on a tour bus is..... cozy. But behind the scenes with the band at concerts is ethereal. It is an amazing experience that Lexie will cherish always. Van is Rock God personified. His allure and hotness is magnified when he is onstage. Lexie has a hard time containing herself. Sexiness just oozes off him and she simply cannot get enough. Lexie worried about the meet and greet with fans after each concert. Can reassures her she is his only. The fans are just that, fans. The author’s depiction of these characters is brilliant. It is honest, no holds barred thrilling and believable. It feels just like I would imagine it is to be in the thick of the world of rock stars and celebrity life. But the fairytale is not without it’s villains. Between a clingy ex and crazy groupies, Lexie and Van’s road to bliss is bumpy and full of roadblocks. Lexie loses the plot and goes animal when she catches Van in a compromising position on the bus after a gig. She questions whether she made the right decision in going on tour, whether she can handle the constant temptation being thrown at Van, or whether she can trust him. But when she asks herself if she can walk away, she has her answer. After Van promises that nothing happened with the groupie and would never cheat on her, she knows that she cannot be without him and lays that experience to rest. “You’re different. Everything with you is different. If anything ever happened, I wouldn’t be devastated. I’d be ecstatic to spend forever with you.” The chemistry between Van and Lexie is lascivious. You can practically feel the intense longing they feel for each other in the air you are breathing. Like you share that air with them. Reading their story is simply a divine experience. “I’m dying to go where no woman’s ever been before.” “It wouldn’t be the first time you’ve done that.” He lifts my chin and sucks on my bottom lip, taking my hand and leading me forward Their loving is frenzied, drunk on passion as they constantly explore one another. Their rapture with each other only increasing, sizzling off the pages in ecstasy. Van and Lexie head to Van’s house for a break from touring, and Lexie falls in love even more. Van’s house is a picture. It is isolated, roomy and there is nobody but them. She especially loved the porch swing. Curling up with Van and a coffee is LExie’s idea of bliss. “Make your decision, but remember, whichever bed you make is the one you have to lie in.” Now it’s time for Van to face the firing squad. Lexie’s parents. It goes surprisingly well, with Van holding his own. Lexie’s parents can see the love they have for each other, as well as the determination to be together, so accept Van into their daughter’s life. Serenades and sexiness is Van Sinclair. He creates such an unquenchable thirst in Lexie, that she is hopeless without him. Then she pulls a Yoko. The band has an almighty row over Van’s decision to honour his promise to Lexie and in doing so, missing out on the performance that could launch their career sooner than expected. But all ends well and band decisions in the future will be discussed with everyone. Juggling both their careers and their lives together is proving difficult. “My world changed the moment I met you. I never knew what I was missing. Everything’s better when you’re here, and nothing’s right without you. I never feel as good as I do when you’re by my side, or as bad as I do when you’re away from me. So far it’s been a blissful tragedy. I love you, Lexie, and I’ll love you forever. I promise you much more bliss and much less tragedy. Will you marry me?” What a fantastically epic book! The intensity was there from the very start, and just kept increasing until the blistering end. I had a feeling I was in for a treat with this story. Let me just say that this book went so far beyond my hopes and expectations, I just do not know how to describe it. I could not put it down. The kindle becoming an extension of my arm. Amy L gale cast a spell on me. Blissfully Tragedy, a true treasure. This book had more than it all. Romance by the tonne, drama bountiful, ecstasy aplenty, and so much more than I can possibly mention in this review. I am just blissfully joyous that I found Amy L Gale. And now, I am blissfully awaiting her next marvel.
OMG. I'm glad I made it to the end. In the beginning the dialogues were rather stilted, it gave the impression the characters were reading them off a script. The dialogues became more authentic at around 40 % of the book. The last straw for me to almost quit reading was after having read loads of cursive inner monologue of our female lead professing her deep and all consuming love for her "gallant rock god" (quote) only to cause a dramatic scene the moment he has to decide between a one time chance for a prestigious gig for his band and the obligation to turn up as her arm candy for her sister's wedding. I read to the end just to find out how she managed to dig herself out of that hole again. And again it was her miraculous boyfriend who quit his mates for her. Sorry, but the whole affair reminded me of teenage dreams about Prince charming. And the male MC was as realistic as the proverbial Prince on the white steed.
Blissful Tragedy is a rock star romance with a Romeo & Juliet ambience. This rock and roll romance captures the essence of life on the road. Lexie & Van have undeniable chemistry with intense love. Character's are engaging & keep you entertained. A novel brimming with sexy, sassy, dreamers, blended with innocence all rolled into one stormy read.
So I really, really love me some Rock Star books (I mean hello Rock Star) and I thought ohhh this is going to be good. If you are into insta-love, and romance than this is your book. The story is well written and flows nicely but it was a different read from the Rock Stars books I have read in the past. It focused more on the couple and not the ugly of stardom.
Lexie Waters recently graduated from Lakeview University with a business degree. She has landed her dream job in an advertising company that starts after the summer. Lexie is also recovering from a broken heart after catching her boyfriend, Jesse cheating on her. She goes with her sister Sydney and her best friend Brooke to Devil Garden’s concert in her school. After meeting Van Sinclair back stage and having a genuine heart to heart talk, they both walk away knowing there is special about each other.
“I hope you’re not mad that I hacked your cell phone. I just don’t want tonight to be the last time we talk.”
“I’m not mad, I’m flattered….and technically its morning.”
“You are most definitely not a groupie Lexie.”
Lexie agrees to spend the summer touring with Van and his band. She becomes friends with one of the bandmates Marcus and his wife Jenna. Jenna helps Lexie deal with the ups and downs of being in a relationship with a rock star. These two girls are fun to read about. They take the time to get to know one another and help each other while standing on the side lines. Of course things are not easy being on the road, including watching groupies throw themselves at Van. Lexie struggles with her insecurities and trust issues due to her past relationship. So this is where I thought I really wanted to hurt her, at times I felt she was immature and was not as giving as Van was on their relationship.
I loved Van he knew what he wanted, and that was Lexie. Van was so understanding, caring, loving and attentive to all her needs. He put his time with Lexie first and did not always give into the rock star life. He knows what Lexie has gone through and he made sure she knew what he wanted.
“I think I am jealous because I’m not sure how you feel about me or exactly what you want out of our situation.”
“I want you and only you and I want you all to myself. That’s how I feel and exactly what I want.”
Of course there are bumps along the road for the couple. It is hard to put your girlfriend first when your band is the only family you know. I really was hoping this couple would not break up and they could balance their relationship, even under public scrutiny.
“It looks like I won’t be able to make it to Savannah. Lexie are you there? Please say something? I promise I’ll make it up to you. If it was only me I would blow it off, but I cant let the guys down. They depend on me.”
“Well guess what? You let me down instead. I left my family, my friends, my life to travel with you for months. I would drop anything for you, I’d do anything, and you can’t even keep your word to be here for me the one time I ask? If I can’t count on you what do we have?”
We watch this couple fight to stay together, and when the summer ends Lexie is left with having to choose between her heart and her dream job. Lexie is a strong person and this decision weighed heavy on her because she worked so hard to get this far in life. The couple has to decide what is the best for them, and try to make things work. Neither one is willing to walk away from the other. Now you have to ask yourself, will Lexie give up her dream or will she follow heart? Will Van want to have a long distance relationship or is he willing to let her leave her dream and watch from the side lines? I will tell you I was not sure what to expect at this point because Lexie worked hard to get this position, just as she fought for her and Van. You read how hard it is for her to come to the right decision for her. I felt a pang in my chest because either way you put it she knew she had to give something she loves up.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Blissful Tragedy is the first Novel from the Break Out Author Amy L. Galeand she has truly hit the ball out of the park with this one. Right from the start the tale of Lexie and Van swept me up and without me even realising it I had read for 8 hours straight, going along with their roller-coaster of a story which has me rooting for their relationship right from the start!
Lexie is a brilliant, well thought character that I am sure a lot of young women can emulate with. She has just walked away from her cheating ex, who she gave everything to and got nothing in return other than false promises and excuses, his ultimate betrayal leads to her finding him in bed with another woman. Wounded but not broken she now has the Summer to herself and is going to favourite Rock Band - Devil's Garden, in concert. Her best friend, Brooke is her rock and is pushing her to get past her cheating ex who has let her heart in tatters but even though he is arrogant enough to think she cannot do any better than him - he is in for one Hell of a Surprise. Lexi cannot believe she has scored back stage passes to the concert, a gift from her sister, Sydney who is going to be married in a few months. As the trio (Lexi, Brooke and Sydney) go to the concert to have a good time, little does she know that opening her mouth before thinking what she's saying, is going to open up a world of possibilities with the one man she never thought it possible to catch his eye.
Enter the Sex God Front Man of the band known as Devil's Garden - Van Sinclair. Van is one fine specimen of a man with the drop dead sexy body which drives women wild! He has the hardest......abs going and one hell of a manhood that plenty of a woman has shared during his many one night stands, for him Love doesn't exist because beneath his charm, charisma, confidence and love 'em and leave 'em attitude lies a man who is wounded, a man who doesn't let people in because he feels they only want him for his fame, his looks, his status. When he meets Lexi at a backstage event he is instantly drawn to her, but she makes it clear she wants nothing from him - who is this woman? From that moment on Van sets out to do what he always said he wouldn't - Fall in Love. But will it all end in heartbreak?
With Lexi's New Job looming and the Tour ending just what does the future hold for them - that is the Million Dollar Question - But just who is going to give?
I really enjoyed this book and if this is how good Amy L.Gale is at writing in her first book, I truly look forward to see just exactly what is to come next and into the distant future. Her attention to detail is brilliant and the sex scenes are realistic, unlike others within this Genre. An all round 5 star book that will heat up your evenings and hook you leaving you wanting more. This is a stand alone novel but there is room for so much character development and you can easily see how this could turn into a series......There are so many scenarios I would love to read about the future of the different characters, the extension of certain plot lines and just where certain people end up.
Ambitious twenty two year old Alexis Waters, everyone calls her Lexie has just recently graduated college with a degree in business and accepted a position with an advertising company to start at the end of summer. Also added into her life she just recently caught her boyfriend cheating on her. To help get her mind off of things Lexie's friends take her out to see her favorite band, Devil's Garden a night of fun and meeting the band is what Lexie needs. That is until she meets Van Sinclair and insults him, no way is she going to be sweet talked into sex, no matter how enchanting a rock star he is.
Van Sinclair lead singer of Devil's Garden, oozes sex appeal, he's also talented, confident. Van's not to keen on the Lexie blowing him off, no woman ignores Van Sinclair. With Lexie standing her ground and refusing Van he's even more determined to have her. Van secretly obtains Lexie cell phone number and decides to make contact to break down her walls little by little.
Lexie finally succumbs to Van and decides to live out a wild fantasy and tour with the band for the summer. She might as well enjoy herself for the summer before real life takes over and she joins the work force. What Lexie was not planning on was for her heart to become involved, she swore off men this was only suppose to be a little fun with Van Sinclair. Developing feelings for Van was not in the cards and her life just became more complicated by all of this. Added to that mix is also a bunch of groupies, and the touring itself can be stressful. What she also was not expecting was Van had falling for her as well, he found someone he could have a serious relationship with and he would do anything from losing her. Van's become tired of the groupie sluts and one night stands.
"I want you and only you and I want you all to myself. That's how I feel and exactly what I want."
Can two people who are complete opposites and come from a different world, make an impossible relationship work?
Will Lexie let Van in her life and learn to trust again, or will she have her heart broken into pieces all over again?
I loved Van he's not your typical rock god, he was sweet, caring, and a down to earth guy. Lexie at times I wanted to scream at her for her ways, at times she was selfish always putting herself first and a bit whiny. When she finally decided to let her guard down, her softer side appeared and she became the girl you could fall in love with.
Blissful Tragedy is the debut novel for Amy L Gale, I think she did an excellent job. The story has passion, love, turmoil, and also thrown in some sexy rock gods. If your looking for a sweet fun read I would definitely check this one out, another plus it's a stand alone no awful cliffhangers.
"My world changed the moment I met you. I never knew what was missing. Everything's better when you're here and nothing's right without you. I never feel as good as I do when you're by my side or as bad as I do when you're away from me."

As a fan of rockstar stories I couldn't wait to dive into this story. From the very beginning the author seamlessly interspersed and vividly depicted the life of a rock band and the issues they deal with from groupies to juggling their personal lives with musical obligations. These scenes were realistic and drew me completely into the story. The music aspect of the story gave us glimpses of each band member and each is as compelling as the next and has me hoping we'll see more from the other unattached band mates in the future.
This book focuses on the caring lead singer Van whose childhood involved one loss after another, which has him grabbing on to the woman of his dreams and doing whatever necessary to keep her on the road with him and in his life. Van is a wonderful hero who I'm still dreaming about. He said everything a woman wants to hear and is super sexy and loyal to a fault. He fought to protect Lexie, and considering her numerous poor choices, his strength and support was a sight to see. Van was compassionate and just wanted to be loved. He was scared of being left alone and I ached for the sadness that occasionally crept into his demeanor.
With such a wonderful hero, I wish that the heroine could've lived up to the high standard Van set. From the very start I found Lexie immature with a tendency to overreact. She expected to be the center of Van's attention which put his career in jeopardy and added extra roadblocks to their happiness. She was cheated on by her previous boyfriend which made her extremely untrusting which is unfair to Van as he repeatedly proved his loyalty to her. She doesn't take seriously the creepy behavior of her ex or an individual at her new job either which put her in jeopardy and forced Van to save her over and over and left me frustrated by her even more. Her naïveté is rewarded in the end as it allowed her to finally reach her HEA with Van in a quickly wrapped up conclusion.
We got a lot of inner dialogue from Lexie which showed her immaturity, along with her constant hair twirling, as well as a lot of insecurity and pettiness. Unfortunately we didn't get too deep into Van's head beyond his feelings for Lexie and a brief glimpse into his childhood and how that's affected him today. As he was the more likable character I wish we'd spent more time with him and getting to know more about him separate from Lexie. A lot of time was spent instead on super steamy and varied sexual encounters between Lexie and Van which almost overwhelmed the story at times. I could understand their desires running high as desperation permeated their time together on tour but would've rather had them get to know each other better in other ways too outside the bedroom. Ultimately this wasn't a bad story, but because of a weak heroine I was left frustrated and a bit disappointed. Thankfully, there was the wonderful Van to keep me turning the pages and to continue my love of rockstar stories!
Lexi has just graduated from college, landed a great job that she will start at the end of summer, and found her boyfriend cheating on her. Her friends take her to a Devil's Garden concert to cheer her up, and afterwards backstage she surprises the sexy lead singer Van Sinclaire with her blunt exclamation of her intent to talk about music and not sleep with the band. Van is intrigued by her, and by the end of the evening has obtained her phone number. They begin to text and talk and soon are both infatuated with each other. Lexi goes to another concert on the tour and when their sexual chemistry enters the equation, she agrees to go on tour with them for the rest of the summer until her job starts.
I enjoy a good "rocker meets and falls in love with fan who stands apart from the other fans" book, and this one had a lot of elements that I liked. I liked that Lexi was focused on making sure she didn't get swallowed up by Van's lifestyle and kept her own independence and career goals as a priority in her life. I liked that Van was sexy, respectful, and tried hard from the beginning to be a good partner in the relationship despite some of the temptations and lifestyle expectations of in his profession. I also really enjoyed some of the supporting characters, especially Jenna and Marcus. That said, I didn't fully connect with Lexi. I felt that she was a little too impulsive at times and would react in extreme ways before taking the time to try and understand or work through a situation. I know in some cases she has a history that would make certain things challenging for her, and she eventually would get to the point where she was making the thoughtful decision. I found her regular hair twirling to be a little odd because it really didn't seem to fit with her character and confused me a little sometimes.
Van and Lexi had great chemistry and the scenes with them together were very steamy. This is not erotica, so there are some phrases like "caressing his manhood" to contend with. Most of the time those scenes were well-written and still maintained the proper sexy feel of a passionate couple, but there were a couple instances where some of the language was incongruent with a hot rocker and his girlfriend engaged in what was supposed to be hot passionate sex.
I also found some of the dialogue a little choppy and felt sometimes that I was being told how much they loved each other and why, but wasn't really seeing it or feeling it completely. Overall, I enjoyed this book and would read more by this author in the future.

¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪ My Review of Blissful Tragedy by Amy Gale Let me start by saying that this was my first rocker romance, so I was not really sure what to expect. It also threw me off a bit that the main character’s name was Lexie and my step-daughters name is Lexi so at times I felt like I was reading about my step-daughter, which was weird. I got over that eventually and the book was no longer awkward to read. The story was almost like a Romeo and Juliet type of love. She fell in love with a bad boy rocker and her parents didn’t approve. She wasn’t as naïve as Juliet though and didn’t care what her parents thought she was going to be with him anyway. I really thought it was interesting how she ended up going on tour with him. That must have been an awesome experience even if they were in cramped quarters while on the bus. I am sure that could become a headache quickly, but when they were stopped they stayed in the most luxurious of hotels. I am not sure they did much sight-seeing at all, though. Some bad choices were made on both Lexie’s part and Van’s. Lexie could overreact at times, and Van didn’t have his priorities in line or know how to be a part of an effective relationship. Of course, these things are common in all relationships. I love how the author made this book so realistic. Even if Van was insanely rich, the author didn’t let the reader know. Sure they have luxurious hotels, but they didn’t stay there long. They made many trips by plane, but that doesn’t mean that he is insanely rich. I like how the author didn’t rub this in the reader's face. I don’t mind knowing that someone is a billionaire, but it shouldn’t be repeated throughout a story. There should be some mystery! Overall, this was a great experience for my first rocker boyfriend book! I would have preferred them to be a bit older. I guess I am just old, but I really liked this book and I definitely suggest this book to anyone that enjoys reading rockstar romance and don’t mind the characters being in their early 20’s. The book was edited well and the story flowed perfectly. There were not many times (only one I think) that I was left wondering what happened or what was left out. The story was perfect and had a perfect ending. Oh, I saw the twist coming with her dream job at the advertising firm. Didn’t know it was going to be THAT bad, but I knew something was fishy! Thank you for the awesome read! <3
I was extremely excited to start reading this book. I'm obsessed with rock music and I loved the concept of including it into a book. Rock star romances are amazing and such good reads. I knew by the first paragraph that I was going to fall in love with this book. It caught my eye and attention. Amy Gale did a phenomenal job writing her debut novel!
Blissful Tragedy tells a romance story about a young woman named Lexie and the lead singer of Devil's Garden, Van. Just by his name you can tell he's a rock star and irresistible. Lexie meets Van backstage of one of his concerts and he immediately falls for her because she isn't a groupie and she's different from all of the girls he has ever meet, and that must be a lot of girls because he's rich and famous.
Lexie doesn't care about the money or the fame. She cares and deeply loves Van with all of her being. Van is her rock god. Van wants nothing more than to have Lexie join his band and him on tour for the summer. Of course she agrees, who wouldn't?
Lexie and Van get so close while on the tour. Lexie experiences the rock and roll lifestyle and falls deeply and passionately in love with Van. She tours the US with him and lives life on the edge. Van changes as a person. He no longer sleeps around with many women. He's completely committed to Lexie and she's the only girl he can ever see himself with. She's the only one for him, his forever.
But, what happens when the summer ends? Is Lexie going to pick her career or Van, the only guy she has ever truly loved?
This rock and roll romance was one of the best books I have ever read. I connected with the characters emotionally and felt like I was right there in Lexie's shoes, living the life every girl dreams of. This is one book that I would love see turn into a movie and I know one day Amy Gale will have that opportunity. This is such an amazing and well told romance story.
I recommend this book to everyone that loves rock music and loves rock star romances. I fell head over heels in love with this book and I know this book will be on the Amazon Bestsellers list soon.
I wish I could rate this book with a million stars, but Amazon and Goodreads won't let me go above 5 stars.
Lexi Waters just graduated from college and landed a dream job in a big time advertising agency that will begin in the fall. She is also recovering from the betrayal of finding her boyfriend in bed with another girl. There is no way she will stand for this and quickly dumps him. As a graduation present, Lexi’s sister Sydney gets front row tickets to Sydney favorite band, Devil’s Garden, for the two of them plus Lexi’s best friend, Brooke. Not to mention that they all have backstage passes to go meet the band!
Backstage, the boys from the band have groupies hanging all over them. The lead singer, Van Sinclair, is drop dead sexy. But Lexi is done with men for now, she is going to put her career first, focusing her time to be successful and climb her way up. Then Van Sinclair notices her. She’s smart, sexy, speaks her mind straight out and he can’t seem to get enough of her. He seems compelled to see more and more of her and eventually asks her to go on tour with him and the band.
As much as Lexi’s brain says that she hardly knows this guy and it’s a bad idea, doomed to end in a bad way, her heart wants her to say yes. She thinks it’ll be a great summer thing and why not? She’ll get to spend time with this wonderful man and see parts of the country she has always wanted to visit before putting her nose to the grindstone. Plus she will be able to get away from the ex who still wants her back. But what happens come September?
This is not really my genre and I was skeptical, but it was recommended and I went ahead with it. I feel like it’s my dirty little secret, I’m not a romance type of reader. I like more action. But I couldn’t put the book down! Yes, it was a bit predictable at times and not quite realistic, but I love the way it was written. Gale is very good at descriptions, I could see everything. I was drawn into the book from the beginning. And there were enough steamy scenes to fog up the windows. It’s a fun little read that’s great to escape into for romance lovers or someone like me who just likes to take a break from the darker, more complex books. Have I mentioned that I couldn’t put it down? Seriously, finished it in one night. Highly recommended by me.
The story Blissful Tragedy by Amy L. Gale is a new adult romance. This story begins with Lexie at a concert with her best friend and her sister. She has the job she wants with an advertising agency and if she could just get over the bitterness of finding her ex-boyfriend cheating her life would be wonderful. Having backstage passes to meet the band seems like a dream come true and a great way to forget her troubles. Van Sinclair is the lead in the music group Devil’s Garden. When he meets Lexie the last thing he expects is to be insulted. Lexie is utterly embarrassed about what she has said however that doesn’t seem to matter to Van. In fact he gets her phone number and calls to invite her to the bands next concert. While this is very sudden, Lexie takes a chance and goes. They both have the same attraction to each other. Lexie then takes the next step and as she has some time before she starts her new job, she goes on tour with Devil’s Garden. Both Van and Lexie know that come summer’s end she has to leave to go back and start her new job. Can their romance survive the long distance between them?
This is a wonderful story. The characters are one of the best things about it. Lexie is so independent and speaks her mind when something is bothering her. Van is a very sexy man who is very confident about himself however finds his feeling for Lexie something that is all too new to him. The band is a family and they take care of each other. Lexie’s family cares about her and doesn’t want her to be hurt as they put stereotypes on Van and the members of his band. There are misunderstands and confrontations like in any family unit. The story is first rate. It is really about what you would do if you fell in love and wants to be with someone who had a job where they travel and it doesn’t fit in with your plans. This can test even the strongest.
I highly recommend this book if you love rock bands, hot band members and a romance that burns up the pages. This book does have adult language, drug usage and a lot of hot and steamy love scenes. I would recommend this to anyone 18 years of age or older.
The story of Lexie and Van is a story of love. It shares with us the story of finding out that who you end up with is not always who you thought it would be.
Lexie has just suffered a bad breakup with her boyfriend. The last thing she needs right now is a relationship.
Van is making his way in the music industry. As part of a band he lives the life of a rock and roll star. Touring presents Van with the opportunity to see a different city every couple of days and share in love his fans have for him.
A night out for Lexie with friends leads her to a chance encounter with Van. Words are spoken, sparks fly and then the night ends. Or does it?
This is where our story of Lexie and Van begins. They start as friends and soon realize that they have an intense pull towards each other. Feelings of longing and lust, confusion and hesitation, jealousy and insecurity all come into play.
The characters physical attributes and emotional sense are laid out to us so in detail so there is no second guessing left to the reader. Though I did not feel an emotional connection with the characters in this book I did feel compassion towards Van and how a love he never expected consumed him. The band members and their families play a prominent role in this story and I found them to each hold a unique personality trait which enhanced the storyline.
We follow Van and Lexie as they navigate their way through a loving, somewhat tumultuous relationship. We watch as they fall so desperately for each other. As they question their feelings, their temptations and as they fight the battle of jealousy and separation.
This is a fast moving story of what happens when love sneaks up on you. When you find love with someone you least expected to. It shares with us the fear of insecurity, the longing of desire and a yearning for the future.

4.5 ROCKIN STARS!
I love a good rock star romance that is naughty and sinfully delicious! Blissful Tragedy fits that bill! What happens when you meet the hottest and sinfully delicious rocker who wants you and will stop at nothing to have you?
Lexie is a recent college graduate, newly single after dropping her cheating ex-boyfriend, and has one last summer to hoorah before she sets out to work in the real world. While attending a concert, she meets the delicious Van Sinclair, rock star god. She feels an instant connection and he to her that neither can seem to break though she does try to deny him but who could resist his charm?! So what is a girl to do? Van invites Lexie to spend the summer with him on tour which she accepts. As she joins him on tour, they try to figure out life and what they want. They have one summer to make a decision. Lexie has her dream job waiting at home and Van is never with the same girl twice. These two couldn't be more different if they tried. As the real world starts to settle in, can they make it the distance?
As these two try to navigate groupies, long distance, love, lust, complicated feelings, jealousy, temptations, betrayals, insecurities, and the real world, will their love be able to sustain it all? Or are they destined for tragedy from the start?
I LOVED this book. It was amazing. It had drama, angst, some dirty talk, and down right naughty scenes. I loved Van. He was so yummy, sweet, and bad ass. There is nothing more sexy than a rocker or CEO. Yes, they are totally different but it something about the power they yield over people that gets your blood pumping. Oh and the chemistry between these two... OFF. THE. CHARTS.!
This is my first book by this author and certainly won't be my last! :)
Sydney, Lexie’s sisters scored front row seats and back stage passes for her, Lexie and her best friend Brooke as a college graduation present. Lexie ready for the next step in her life after receiving a job offer that is the envy. The one thing is she doesn’t start until after Labor Day so she has the summer off.
Van is the lead singer for Devil’s Garden. He’s relationship averse and with women throwing themselves at him at every turn, there’s really no reason to change his ways. That is until Lexie walks back stage after a concert at her university. He tries to meet her, instead she puts him in his place, letting him know in no uncertain terms that she’s not interested in the behavior of the groupies he was sitting with. Her behavior only intrigues him more. He brings her a beer and asks her to go for a walk. The just talk, getting to know each other.
Before it’s over, she’s invited to another concert in a neighboring city. Things quickly heat up as they find that they only want to be together. Van invites Lexie to join the tour bus. Where Lexie goes against her need to over-analyze decision and agrees to go.
I enjoyed the book but it seems to focus on the bedroom which distracted from the story of everything these two needed to overcome to be together. There were also some inconsistencies in the writing for example halfway through the books she starts picking at her nails yet the entire first half of the book her nervous habit was to twirl her hair. There was also a scene where the bedroom where she’s moves her strap off her shoulder, except she had worn a strapless dress that evening. Obviously, these aren’t big issues but I found them irritating. I look forward to more books by the author as I think her writing will continue to develop in the future.
Ambitious 22-year-old Lexie Waters is intent on taking the advertising world by storm. When she’s offered the soon to be open position she’s been vying for at a swanky advertising agency, there’s only one last summer separating her from dreams of corporate success. Still bitter from catching her boyfriend cheating, she heads out for a night of fun to see her favorite band, Devil’s Garden, but fun turns into utter embarrassment when she insults the enticingly confident lead singer, Van Sinclair. Van is intrigued by Lexie’s ability to resist his charm and secretly obtains her cell number. Shocked but eager to get to know this captivating rocker, Lexie accepts Van’s invitation to see his next show, which requires an overnight stay. The overwhelming feelings that follow take them both by surprise, and with two months left before starting her sought after new position, Lexie joins the tour. As she’s catapulted into the world of groupies and wild parties, she questions Van’s commitment to her. So what happens at summer’s end when time runs out I really enjoyed the story of Lexie and Van, I will admit I'm a sucker for a good hot sexy rock star and the band mates, but that being said,I have also read a lot of Rock star books and this is definitely one of my favorites to date! I feel instantly in love with the gorgeous Van, and really enjoyed the slightly sarcastic Lexie and know from the first time they meet they belonged together! Author Amy L. Gale brilliantly wrote about life on the road as a rock band, ups and downs, sex, drugs and rock and roll! And let's not forget stalker ex of Lexie's and then add in the groupies and fireworks begin! I definitely would recommend this book to everyone who loves to get lost in the world of rock stars as it is one of the best! I will definitely be reading more of the talented author Amy L Gale!
Alexis Waters thought she had it all until she caught her boyfriend cheating on her. Now alone she, her sister and best friend go to a concert of her favorite band, Devils Garden, and have backstage passes. That is where she meet Van Sinclair, lead singer of Devils Garden. She catches Van’s eye and they go for a chat. Van sneakily puts his information into Lexi’s cell phone and texts himself her number. Later that night he sends her a text and she is shocked that she is getting a text from THE Van Sinclair. Once they start communication he asks her to come see him at another show. She goes and then he asks for her to go on tour with them. Since she has the summer off , while waiting for her dream job to start, and is smitten with Van she decides to join the tour. The tour isn't all fun and games. They had some up and downs along the way. Two months go by and it's time for her job to start so she leaves Van and the tour. Her dream job starts off promising but her boss seems somewhat off. In time all answers are revealed but what about the questions. Will Lexi keep her dream job? Or will she stay with Van? Will Van give up the band for Lexi? Van and Lexi have a great relationship although each is plagued with inner turmoil. It made it interesting to see how things were going to happen between them. The title is Blissful Tragedy so I thought they would have good times and then something tragic. I'm not going to say it did or did not happen but when it was explained I could see why this was the chosen title. . There are 3 words used throughout the whole book that I loved! No it's not “I love you” although that was used. Van used the words “ Walk with me” as he held out his hand to Lexi. From the moment they met to the end of the book. I feel little things like that help round out a book. Great read!
Blissful Tragedy by Amy L. Gale was a great read! It is the first book I've read from this author and it definitely won't be the last! The story follows Lexie Waters, a recent college graduate, and Van Sinclair, lead singer in Devil’s Garden, in their journey of finding love.
Lexie who just recently graduated college, just landed a great job at an advertising company. She won't start until September so she has the entire summer to have fun. When Lexie walks in on her boyfriend in bed with another woman, she's completely done with him and men in general. One night, Lexie, her sister, and her best friend go to a Devil’s Garden concert and have a blast. With her sister scoring backstage passes, Lexie is anxious to meet the band. When she meets Van, sparks fly and the attraction she feels towards him make her blurt out that she's not a groupie and won't sleep with him. Little did she know, she would steal his heart with that one sentence...
Van Sinclair is the lead singer in Devil’s Garden. Growing up in foster care has made him not trust anyone. He doesn't do relationships at all, always on the defensive with women because they all use him. That is until one night, when he meets Lexie and it changes him forever. The instant connection he feels, makes him want to try. But will Lexie’s dreams and his ruin any chance they have? You'll just have to read it to find out!
Overall this story was a wonderful debut, even though it was a fast-paced, insta-love read. I feel if it would have had a little more depth, it wouldn't have felt so rushed. The characters were great, I especially loved Jenna and her sassiness. The chemistry between Van and Lexie was amazing, and the sex scenes were steamy! I'm really hoping that the other bandmates get stories as well! Ms. Gale did an amazing job and I am looking forward to reading more from her!
This is the debut novel from Amy Gale and she has done a great job. It begins with 22 year old Alexis Waters (Lexi). She has recently graduated from college, landed a great job at an advertising firm and oh yes discovered that she has a cheating boyfriend. She is coaxed by her fiends to go out and enjoy a fun filled evening to see their favorite band. She has no idea what the evening has in store for her. She is not only watching the hottest, sexiest band Devil's Garden but the lead singer is the most handsome, talented man she has ever laid eyes on. The girls end up backstage and Lexi decides to distance herself from the womanizing band. She doesn't get far when she is pursued by the lead singer Van Sinclair. Van has never met a woman he couldn't woo, but has certainly met his match with Lexi. He has started to feel that all woman are just using him and begins to think that a relationship in not in his cards. This all changes with that intense first meeting with Lexi. She is sexy, confident, funny , smart and refuses to fall all over him. Van begins to pursue Lexi relentlessly. She begins to realize that he may be sincere and really genuinely interested in her and she decides to take a chance. She begins to truly see him for the wonderful man that he really is. It is a whirlwind romance that is going to test their love, trust and faith in one another . Is possible to overcome all these obstacles and find true love under the bright lights of stardom or will everything begin to crumble around them. This was a fun, sexy read with well written characters and a great story line. I am looking forward to reading more of Amy's work! Very nicely done! I was gifted this book by the author for an honest review. ~~Michele McMullen~~
I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review. Alexis (Lexie) Waters is a fresh out Lakeview University, waiting to start her dream job with an advertising company. She has the summer free to travel and do as she pleases. After finding her ex-boyfriend having sex with someone else, Lexie is not interested in men. However, that changes when she, her sister and college roomie go to a Devil’s Garden concert with backstage passes. This is where she gets to meet Devil’s Garden lead man and extra hottie Van Sinclair. They talk and find that there is chemistry between them. They talk and text and finally give in to hot steamy sex. Van really tries to pursue Lexie, he even suggests that she come on tour with him, to spend the summer. She hesitates but eventually gives in to her feelings, knowing that it has to end when she starts her job in August. This book is not without angst… Jesse comes back in the picture “to see you and talk some sense into you. I had no idea you turned into some groupie whore?” This earns him a severe beat down by Van. Van is attacked by a groupie that follows him in to the bus and Lexie finds him, Lexie’s family (mother and father) think he’s the epitome of trash, and he ditches the band to come to the wedding of Lexie’s sister. There is a back story with Lexie and her new job/boss, you will have to read the book to experience that, because it would spoil the plot if I told that part of the story. Overall I really enjoyed this book. It’s not like the typical rock and roll books I have read. The sex scenes were hot and steamy, perfectly timed. The main character is Lexie and her future life. It takes you through the emotions of love, hurt and challenge. I give this book 4 stars.
Amy Gale is just popping onto the writing scene and she is doing it in grand style. BLISSFUL TRAGEDY is Amy's first book and it is awesome! She is definitely one to watch and follow. Her passion for writing steamy, hot romance is apparent in BLISSFUL TRAGEDY.
I know that every girl has been *star struck* by a rock star at some point in their life. Swooning every time their music comes on the radio. Pretending you are the one they are singing to at the concert. For most of us it is only a fantasy, but Lexie gets the opportunity of a lifetime.
Lexie has just graduated from Lakeview University and is looking forward to starting her new life. She has already accepted a job offer in advertising: a dream come true for her. Her life seems to be perfect, but.....then she finds out that her boyfriend cheated on her.
This is not how she expected to spend her last summer before starting her new job. Her friends intervene and coax her into attending a rock concert featuring their favorite band, Devil's Garden. Little did she know that her life was about to change.
The lead singer, Van Sinclair, is dangerously sexy, hot, and gorgeous! The total trifecta! His one flaw is his ego. When Lexie gets the opportunity to meet him backstage, she doesn't swoon or fall all over him. The meeting was awkward, but he was intrigued and asks her to attend his next concert - out of town.
The romance starts to heat up between them and Van invites her to join him on his tour. Their chemistry is off the charts. Join them for all the fun and romance they experience, along with the ups and downs, to see if they are able to overcome the obstacles in the way of their happiness.
Blissful Tragedy is one of those stories where your not sure about reading it but your glad you did because it is a gem of a read. I love rocker stories so this one intrigued me right from the start. You have all the elements of a crazy love story because you have the rocker then you have the girl and then you have all the groupies and drama that comes with being with a rocker.
Lexi is young and smart and ready to take the advertising world by storm by getting her dream job and doing whatever she has to do to keep it and prove herself. She is excited to share her news with her boyfriend but finds him cheating and decides she is going to have one more fun summer and move on to newer things. So she goes to see her favorite band playing. While she is there rocking out to the group she meets the lead singer Van and lord have mercy is Van gorgeous but he is the lead singer and Lexi knows he is trouble. But once Van meets her he knows he needs her like he needs air to breathe.
Van meets Lexi at his gig and when he sees her he is intrigued by her but when he goes to get to know her she is distant and stand offish. Van is determined to get to know Lexi so he does everything he can to get information on her and gets her cell number. He calls her and they start talking but Lexi is leery about what Van is asking and that is to spend the summer touring with his band. Lexi isn't so sure but she gives it a go and what she and Van find will define who they are at the end of the summer.
Will Lexi and Van make it through the groupies and the drinking and the partying and the gigs night after night? Or will they say goodbye at the end of the summer.
