If you could live forever, what would you choose to live for? I chose love... A silent guardian, Alexander has walked the corridors of time in pursuit of an end to a haunting prophecy. Born on the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous,Torie is the illegitimate love child of Han Solo and Daenerys Targaryen. Rescued by Gandalf shortly before her home planet was destroyed in the last days of the Clone Wars, she was raised in relative obscurity by her foster parents, Severus Snape and Pippi Longstocking. At the tender age of 113, she inherited the best little whorehouse in Texas and is rumored to be bringing Sexy Back. A self confessed chocoholic, she's been engaged to Willy Wonka despite gossip surrounding a lifelong affair with Bruce Wayne.
And clearly, she practices delusion on a daily basis.
The truth is, I'm just an overgrown kid with a vivid imagination who loves to write and share my crazy with the world. My future plans include, hopefully, buying a lovely Scottish castle and convincing Queen Elizabeth I that I'd make a fab addition to the Royal Family.
Three years ago, I finally got my 'brave' on and submitted a wee story about true love, honor, friendship and the magic within us all. That story was Timeless Night, the first book in a five book series I've named New Camelot. Since then, I've been lucky enough to have published Timeless Desire (Book 2 of New Camelot), Beauty and The Feast (A New Camelot Thanksgiving Novella) Ties That Bind (The Cloie Chronicles I), Fractured Fantasies (Valentine's Venom), Fractured Fantasies (Volume 1) and Fractured Fantasies (Volume Two). Volumes 3, 4 and 5 are coming soon!
This is a story that challenges everything you thought you knew about the legends of Camelot. It's not a retelling of the same, dusty story about a sword in a stone. No. This is a story of love, adventure, action, and secrets. It brings the legends of Camelot to 21st century Los Angelos. Torie James is amazingly talented and captures your attention from the first page. I highly recommend this book and look forward to the sequel, Timeless Desire.
WOW! Torie can build worlds and make you live through Bri's emotions. Here is a heroine I can relate to, sassy, sarcastic, independent... let's just say if she was at the dinner party I'd trade my shrimp to sit next to her!
Back to the book. What if everything you heard about Camelot was a myth to hide the truth? What if there was more to the story? Follow Alexander and Sabrina as they find each other and discover who they really are. Find out the truths behind the mistakes that lead them into their newest quest. Leave what you learned behind, this isn't your grandfather's Camelot.... Explore New Camelot and fall in love all over again.
Prepare for an adventure that is far more than you bargained for. With rich, vibrant, and wholly human characters (seeing how their not quite human) it will enthrall and delight you at every turn. This is not your usual supernatural snack nor is it your standard tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. In that legend it was the hero’s that saved the damsel and the day, in this tale the heroines stand beside their heroes kicking ass and taking names. In this reader’s opinion, Le Morte de Arte was a sleeping pill about knights who did nothing but whine. There is none of that here. Rather it is about timeless love, fellowship, bravery, sacrifice, and how even on the bleakest days there is a light in the darkness. To become bewitched and enchanted I would recommend this book to everyone who lives to fall into an endless adventure that will leave you salivating for more.

This isn't your mother's Camelot and you only thought you knew the story of Lancelot. Torie James puts a colorful spin on an old story with her first novel of New Camelot. Loaded with myth and magic it is sure to leave you wanting more. Familiar characters like Arthur, Guinevere, and Merlyn all make an appearance in modern day L.A. They are here to save all of humanity from the Fae with the help of one very sassy modern era female, Sabrina. From beginning to end you will not be disappointed. And as you reach the end of Timeless Night you realize, the stage is set and this is only the beginning.
As a fan of anything Arthurian or paranormal, I was surprised to find both in Timeless Night. The legend of Camelot has been told in many ways, however, author Torie James created a unique spin to the age old lore—adding a modern day twist. I knew from the first few pages that I would have a difficult time putting this book down. The author, Torie James, penned old world magic, modern day charm, and downright witty scenes throughout this amazing story. The paranormal aspect of the story has a twist I didn't see coming, and at first I thought "No…please don't do this." But oh, what surprises were in store for me. Pure magic was scribed in this tale. I suspect Torie James has a bit of fae blood flowing in her veins.
Sabrina Foxworth, a strong-willed, modern day woman, is thrown into a whirlwind which changes her life forever. Her childhood dreams begin to make sense—though quite hard for her to swallow. Add to that, Mr. Dreamy-creamy-In-Her-Pants, a.k.a Alex, and all the magical twists he delivers…oh my. Despite her attraction, Sabrina refuses to follow his orders, and does things on her terms. She finds Alex's "explanations" and the ensuing turn of events difficult to believe. However, her very essence cannot deny deep down, she knows Alex speaks the truth. A truth that can be the very death of her. The scenes are so well written I could "see" them. The personalities of both Alex and Sarah are strong, both conflicting with the other, while at the same time, pulling them closer together.
The secondary characters, Merlyn, Gawain, Arthur, Guinevere and others are well- developed. I really can't say enough about Timeless Night by Torie James. It's absolutely amazing.
Torie James has taken an old idea and found a way to make it new by refocusing the attentions. It's a New Camelot take on Excalibur and Merlin. She takes the old idea and turns it on it's head with wonderful character personalities to drive the reader forward.
Her characters are well thought out and her leading female is nontraditional which makes a great character to fall in love with.
The dialogue is true to each person in the novel and has some great witty moments that made me chuckle while reading.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes tales of Camelot/Medieval/Magic/ and love.
I totally couldn't keep stop reading this book, it takes off and keeps on going, it doesn't stop until the end with a twist that you no one could ever predict. IF anyone is looking for a modern day Arthur Legend to read this, I started reading this at work and somehow couldn't keep myself from not reading it more. It was an amazing read and I can't wait to read more of what the amazing Torie James has in store for us in her New Camelot adventure.
OMG! I read this in one setting - picked it up and never once put it down! Torie James is fabulous! Draws you right in to the story so you find yourself laughing, crying, cheering, and booing along with the characters in the book! I loved it and can't wait for the next one to come out!!
I was intrigued from page one as the tale begins in the past...a tragic past!
Admittedly, I have never been a vampire kind of person, but Miss James version of "vampires" is totally different--a very brilliant spin that left me excited to learn more of their lore.
New Camelot is definitely not the Camelot of past tales, although it still holds the virtues of the classical tale in high regards. Which I totally appreciated as a reader and lover of all things Camelot.
As for the heroine, Sabrina--WHEWIE! I love that girl! She is all spark...even when faced with the truth of her past and the danger she is in.
The hero, Alex, or better remembered as Lancelot, holds true to the valiancy of his folklore, and is determined to keep Sabrina safe at all costs...even his heart if need be! It just doesn't get any better than this! Way to go, Torie James! Will be collecting this series as it comes out!
This was a really fun book. I love the different take on the classic story, The sword and the stone. It's a fun twist but also one that I've never heard before. The characters are great. The leading female character is so funny. But, I will admit that at first when I found out who she was, her humor was a bit off putting, but only for a moment! She is great! I highly recommend this book!
Absolutely great read! Storyline was great and so were the characters. Live the steamy scenes but not over done. I would highly recommend it and look forward to reading more
I was intrigued about this story from the moment I heard about it. There are many stories out there that try to recreate the legends surrounding Camelot but few that bring it to the present day, and few that put this type of paranormal spin on the tale. I knew from the first page that I would truly enjoy this book, Ms James has quite a talent with words. She manages to give it an 'old world' feel while still throwing in a number of modern day references and sprinkling it with a unique witty charm.
At first Alexander Lakeland held a mysterious allure, his strong manly presence demanding the reader’s attention from the moment he stepped onto the page. The descriptions and characterizations in Timeless Night are so well written that you feel as though you have actually met the larger than life personalities, rather than simply read about them. I yearned to learn more about Alex, turning the pages as he moved from old Camelot to present day. Then I met Sabrina Foxworth.
I have never encountered a book character quite like her before, and in my mind this is a very good thing indeed. A strong female lead who won’t sacrifice her stubbornness, even for the likes of dreamy Mr. Alex. There is a connection between them right away and although she fights it to begin with, it fascinates her as much as it does the reader. Alex of course is taken aback by her colorful dialogue, which had me giggling out loud all the way through the book.
Though the spotlight is shared between Alex, Sabrina and a few others, the transition from one to the other flows smoothly. All the characters are separate and unique, and yet all have something endearing or undeniable for the reader to latch onto. Once Alex and Sabrina had me in their clutches, I struggled to put the book down to tend to daily tasks. If I could have, I’d have read it from cover to cover in one sitting.
The only thing I found odd to begin with was how Alex had that old world feel about him, and yet Merlyn felt like a “present day” man. Don’t get me wrong, I loved his character. The dialogue just felt too modern. However, when I read further along in the story, and more twists and turns came to light, I understood how and why he’d managed to become so ‘current’.
Whether you are a paranormal fan, fantasy lover or even just one who appreciates Arthurian Lore, I urge you to check out this book. Ms James has blown me away with her storytelling capabilities and I cannot wait to lose myself in the second installment of her land of New Camelot.
Well, well! What can I say? I couldn't put this book down it was so addictive, I know that it took me a while to read it but I wanted to make it last. I was never very much into the whole medieval novels as I found that they didn't capture my attention as much as I wanted it to. But from the very first word I was hooked on this book. It captures you and steals you into a world of where anything is possible! The word love goes far deeper than you could ever imagine, and well Alex...What can I say about Alex? Well I will keep that to myself and let you go find out for yourself. Trust me you are not going to want to put this book down. Just when you think that you know what is going to happen there is always a twist around the corner, it totally throws you off balance and in a very very good way. I have already started to read it again just to keep this adventure alive until the next one..You are going to be begging for more trust me on that! You are not going to be disappointed with this book, I certainly wasn't one bit. GO OUT AND GET IT, YOU WON'T REGRET IT TRUST ME!
Tori James certainly won't let you down, if you love mystery, love and a cheeky twist thrown in this is certainly the book for you. I can't wait for the next one. And it better be soon, I don't think I can stand to waiting very long.
I was really looking forward to this book, I love Camelot and supernatural and I really wanted to see how the author was going to wind that all together. I was impressed with how she interpreted some of the lore, I won't post spoilers, so I'm not expanding on that. Over all I enjoyed the characters and the storyline, the ending really got me.
My cons with it are: I would have liked to see certain scenes expanded on, there's a particular one where Mordred gets a visitor, and it feels like it just cuts off and then picks back up with his musings of what happened. Also, as much as I love pop culture, I felt like Sabrina's use of certain references during high tension really took away from the tension needed for the scenes. I'm sure Ms. James was using it to show Sabrina's character and in an attempt to lighten the mood, but it took me out of the scene.
I really enjoyed Timeless Night. While some of the syntax of the main character was over-the-top sometimes and made me giggle, it was all-in-all a creative and entertaining re-imagining of the Arthurian legend. I never expected to like a modern take on Arthurian characters, based on pitches and blurbs from similar books, but this one caught my eye and fascinated me. I didn't realize it was also a vampire story, and while I think that might have turned me off had I known it at the get-go, I found it nicely woven in to the mythos of this world without overshadowing the more magical worlds of Arthur, Merlyn, and the fae. I must admit I had a happy little moment of excitement to see part of the story takes place in Temple City, which is where I grew up! I really enjoyed the blending of classic Arthurian legends and the "true legends" of this world. Highly recommended.
When I initially wanted to read this book it was from the excitement of having a friend of a friend who wrote it. It was the closest I'd gotten to knowing someone who had written a book. Like most book it takes me a few chapters to get engrossed into the book and this one didn't take as long as most. (That's just a me thing I think). I love vampire books and while in this book they are not technically referred to as vampires I still enjoyed reading it. I absolutely loved the way she incorporated my love of vampires with Camelot. The way she brought the "real" story of Merlyn, Arthur, Guinevere, Gawain, Nimue, Morgan Le Fay and Mordred kept me enthralled through the rest of the book. She was able to include the Fae into her story which made it more believable than most. It was a great pleasure to be able to read this book and I look forward to reading more of Ms. James's books.
I won this book at a giveaway, but I worked at winning it. As a HUGE fan of anything in the Arthurian legends, I loved this book. It was so fresh with its blending of the ancient and new age. To take a myth and add your own spin on it AND make it work is something to be proud of.
There were so many cult references that made me laugh out loud. (Wrong turn at Albuquerque! And stating a reference to the Mongolians! Priceless!)
The main characters were real and in every way a complement to each other. Even with powers beyond the original mythos. As a whole, I'd have to say the read was an adventurous romp! I'm so excited to get to the second book in the series.
I'm not giving my book a review as that would seem odd and only one of two things would happen. I'd either toot it too loud or I'd trash it too hard. I am my best critic and my own worse enemy most days.
What I can say is this: I still find myself, every day, amazed that I wrote this. The Girl Who Procrastinated. The Girl Who Dithered. The Girl Who Said Someday.
So, if you're looking for a new spin on an old tale, if you like Knights of Olde, sassy women who wield words as sharp as any sword, if you believe that the only true magic is love and friendship....all I can say is this...
Welcome to NEW Camelot...not everything remains myth.
Timeless Night captured me from page one and didn’t cease its hold until the very end. I usually take a pass on paranormal romances—but this incredible story redefines the genre. It contains a little bit everything and then some—folklore, magic, myth, breathtaking romance, mind-bending sexual tension, and a truly unforgettable cast of characters. Sabrina is a refreshing, spirited heroine, and a lady I’d be proud to call a friend!! And Alex… well, you will fall head over heels for this rugged, long-suffering warrior! ;) Ms. James’s writing is fantastic and immersive. I’ve officially been sucked into the vivid, tumultuous world of New Camelot—and I have no intention of ever leaving!
When people rewrite legends and myths, most of the time it comes out forced. However, Timeless Night is the exact opposite. This is a fresh spin on the tale of King Arthur and his court, and it is delivered with sharp wit and impressive intensity. The two main characters, Bri and Alex, draw you into their tale and hold you to the very end.
This tale leaves you craving more. I was truly hard pressed to put it down, and anxious to return to it again. This is truly one of the few books I'd read over and over again!
I absolutely adore history and especially the ancient myths and stories about Arthur and his brave knights and the ladies fair. Ms. James takes that myth, turns it completely on its ear and creates a new world (new Camelot indeed)where we get to meet these people of myth and legend and realize they are, at heart, simply people. The characters come alive in a world so vivid I often looked around as I was reading disappointed not to be in their world. I look forward to reading more of this series.
After waiting months for this book, I can tell you, I was NOT disappointed. Torie N. James took an old myth and spun it into something 'new', something better. I was sucked in from the very first word and felt like I was right there with the characters. I laughed, cried and and was sitting on the edge of my seat reading this. Absolutely one of the best books I've read in a long time. I loved every word and I can't wait to read the second book and return to New Camelot.
Goodreads win. Will read and review once received.
Once I picked this book up I could not put it down. I had to know what was coming next until the book ended and now I want more. The story takes off from the first page until the very end. There is a twist in the book that I was never expecting. When something like that happens in a book it becomes a favorite. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.
Sabrina, a reincarnated Vivianne . Alex, a bossy vampire but really Lancelot. Merlin, Mordred, Morgan , Author , Guinevere, basically the Knights of the Round Table . Vampires, wow what a different take on the story. Good verses evil. Love, lust, magic and mayhem are all integrated in this book. It took me awhile to get into it but I did and I enjoyed it. Will read book two to see what happens next.
OMG -this book is awesome! I lingered over reading it, as I didn't want it to end. Witty dialogue, good pace of action. Believable characters. I was hooked from the first couple of pages. It's a must read if you love paranormal romances. I won't show any spoilers, as I don't want to ruin it for anyone. Can't wait for the next one in the series from this amazing new author!
The author is wonderful in her description and in making her characters come to life. She doesn't disappoint when it comes to an interesting story. I am in LOVE with this book and everything about it. And I'll definitely be reading it again.
It's a short review, yes, but what else can be said that the author herself hasn't said? It's amazing!
