Evan Cross—technical wizard and founder of Cross Photonics—is no stranger to tragedy.
While investigating magnetic interference, he and his wife were attacked by an unimaginable an Albertosaurus, a tyrannosaur extinct since the Cretaceous period. Brooke died at the carnivore's jaws, and the dinosaur vanished into a fourth-dimensional portal, never to be seen again.
Six years have passed since that fateful day. Haunted by her final moments, Evan creates a sector within Cross Photonics called the Special Projects Group. His small team makes a plan to track these elusive rifts in time called Anomalies and combat the threats that lurk within.
Soon, tragedy strikes again. His friend, Tony Drake, is killed by a Utahraptor. Meanwhile a Pteranodon attacks a thrill-seeker in Vancouver. After both dinosaurs killed one another, he thought the problem was dealt with.
Now, as a business meeting with an important client approaches, Evan is lured into another incursion with the Anomalies. Embarking on a new quest, he is faced with both keeping prehistoric monsters at bay while preserving human life--all while hoping for an opportunity to avenge Brooke's death, and kill the Albertosaurus across the intersection of timelines.
After 11 years, New World returns in this exciting novel by dinosaur-writer Julian Michael Carver!
This is a book from the Canadian Primeval tv show, not exactly a hit show but continueing the story about the gateways between our time and the various timelines from our dinosaur past. Sadly there is only one season of this Primeval show in comparison to the 5 seasons of the British show and a series of books.
Well then this is the first novel and lets not hope last as continuation for Primeval the new world. This book takes place straight after episode one of the show, and is about the incursion of three pteranodons in our timeline. Evan is still sore from losing his wife to an Albertosaurus, the Meat eating variety in Dinosaurs. This time they battle three flying juggernauts that are destructive, hunting and way smarter than despicted anywhere else. The story needs some explaining in the beginning and then picks up pace towards the part where pteranodon poo seriously hits the fan. Like the TV show a lot of fun and a welcome read. Lets hope that we get a few more books in this series, regular Primeval books are welcome too. Who does not enjoy a dinosaur of the week episode. So now I ordered the tv show on bluray and am going to enjoy it again. My daughter whose book this is and an avid fan of Primaval has never seen this show. She wants her old man to hurry up and have a look herself. Patience is a virtue, lets hope we do not have to wait long for a new book, mr. Carver.
Finally a new story for all Primeval fans out there. The starts with a big review on the first episode of the spin off series. The book then continues a few days after the events of the episode.
It’s a typical adventure of the week story with a monster of the week. This time, there are three Pteranodons. Unfortunately the book cover promised an Albtertosaurus, which is only mentioned in a dream. The main characters are in their role. The secondary characters lack depth.
In total it’s a good book. I hope for more story’s of this fantastic genre.

It's been a while since I watched the "Primeval New World" tv series. I liked the series so thought I'd give this book a try. Kind of slow getting started but when the Pteranodons showed up it got better fast.
