Johnny C. Hubel est un astronaute hors pair. À bord d'une navette spatiale, il est sur le point de se poser sur la planète Neuf. Une planète mythique, étape ultime de l'exploration spatiale, dont l'existence est longtemps restée hypothétique. Soudain, c'est le drame. Prise dans une tempête magnétique, la navette s'enflamme. Pourtant, comme par miracle, John échappe de peu à la mort... pour se retrouver au volant d'une voiture. À ses côtés se trouve Astrid, sa petite amie. John a déjà vécu cette scène, vingt ans plus tôt. Ce jour-là, il n'avait pu éviter la collision avec un camion, ce qui avait provoqué le décès d'Astrid. Cette fois, John a le bon réflexe : il évite l'accident. Il comprend alors qu'il est sur le point de revivre ses vingt dernières années. Ce retour vers le passé lui offrira la possibilité de donner une direction différente à sa vie, et peut-être de sauver d'autres de ses proches... Inspirés par des films comme Interstellar, Seul sur Mars et Ad Astra, le scénariste Philippe Pelaez (Six, Noir Horizon) et le dessinateur Guénaël Grabowski (Nautilus) s'inscrivent dans la tradition de la grande épopée spatiale, à travers un récit alliant science-fiction et aventure humaine.

Bardzo ładna kreska ilustracji. Bardzo dobrze się to oglądało, a fabuła interesującą, tajemnicza. Bardzo fajny aspekt,że odnosi się do różnych etapów życia, a nie tylko do jednego. Bardzo podobało mi ten podział, zwłaszcza,że wyznaczały go "tytułowo" dobrane lata. Motyw podróży w czasie jest tam chyba najistotniejszym i najbardziej zagadkowym. Komiks który zostawił mnie po lekturze z zapytaniem "Ale Jak?" I nie do końca odpowiedzią na każde pytanie. By nie zdradzać fabuły to mamy tutaj: loty w kosmos, akademię szkolenia, nawiązania do prawdziwych pilotów samolotów, podróże w czasie i zagadki. Sam fakt że przeczytałam cały za jednym podejściem coś mówi, ale też nie jest bardzo długi.

Janvier 2025. Un petit air à la Interstellaire. Je pense que les amateurs de SF n’y verront rien de nouveau, mais pour moi qui suis une newbie, j’ai passé un très bon moment de lecture. On s’embrouille parfois dans la ligne du temps, je suppose que c’est un peu le but. Le travail artistique était bien, très classique mais pas époustouflant à mon goût.

POPKULTUROWY KOCIOŁEK: Bohaterem komiksu jest Johnny C. Hubel, znamienity astronauta, który ma być pierwszym człowiekiem, który postawi stopę na Dziewiątce, ostatniej planecie Układu Słonecznego. Nic nie idzie jednak zgodnie z planem. Podczas gdy jego wahadłowiec podchodził do lądowania, dochodzi do eksplozji, a jego wyrzuca… dwadzieścia lat wstecz na Ziemię.

Pelaez w swoim scenariuszu łączy elementy science fiction z głębszą refleksją nad naturą czasu i ludzkiej egzystencji. Obserwacja losów bohatera staje się tu metaforą poszukiwania odpowiedzi na fundamentalne pytania o sens życia i możliwość wpływu na bieg wydarzeń. Autor nie poprzestaje na powierzchownym przedstawieniu kosmicznej przygody, ale zagłębia się w psychologiczne aspekty przeżycia głównego bohatera.

Przeplata on tu bardziej klasyczne elementy sci-fi z umiejętnie zaprezentowanymi złożonymi rozważaniami. Wykorzystuje on do tego zapętloną chronologię co nadaje fabule niezwykłości, ale sprawia również, że historia jest trochę chaotyczna i wymaga od czytelnika mocnego skupienia. Do tego wszystkiego twórca sprawnie wplata w narrację elementy naukowe, nie przytłaczając przy tym czytelnika. ...

Nothing new for SF readers but a very well crafted story with great art.

Nine is the story of a boy who loses his father when his rocket explodes during launch. Years later, the boy has followed in his father’s footsteps and has set foot on Planet Nine. There his existence is thrown into a loop whereby he relives his life from the moment he prevents a tragedy.

An original concept that felt a little too much like a pale imitation of Stephen King’s The Dead Zone, the character is even named Johnny. Several of the book’s events mimic King’s novel, but fail to do much more than that.

In a way, I think the format itself prevented Philippe Pelaez from from giving the story the depth it needed to fully hit. The art, drawn by Guénaël Grabowski, is pretty and competent, without being exceptional.
