I really loved this novella 🥹 It was so nice to see the married life of our boys written in such a soft, natural way. It felt cozy, intimate, and very them)
I’m genuinely happy they found new friends — that sense of building a life together, not just surviving, meant a lot to me🥰 And their dog??? Absolute perfection! Rain’s attitude toward him had me laughing every time 😆
The jealousy trope was handled really well here It didn’t come out of nowhere — it felt logical, grounded, and emotionally honest. A real, believable issue, not drama for the sake of drama And most importantly, they talked it through and worked through it together ❤️🩹
Overall, this novella felt like a warm hug — a reminder that love doesn’t stop after the “happy ending,” it just grows quieter, deeper, and stronger ❤️🔥
I expected a fluffy Christmas novella but got the typical River & Rain angst. I could have done without the miscommunication and jealousy but Rain would not be Rain if he was not insecure and waiting for the other shoe to drop. But overall I just love these two to pieces so I still enjoyed it and was nice to get a snippet of their life in Boston 4 years later.
This was an enjoyable glimpse into River & Rain's life a few years down the line. I know I had a hard time with them for most of the last book so I was happy that this one made me fall for them again. Even though there was a bit of miscommunication in this it was swiftly fixed. It had cute moments and steamy moments. I love seeing these two live their authentic lives without the drama that was at the beginning of their relationship. Makes me very happy for them both.
Strong fingers anchor themselves around the back of my neck, and Rain spins us so my back is pressing into the wall beside the mantle. He uses his other hand to pull me even tighter against him as he crowds into me, and just like that, I’m completely entrapped by him. I doubt an inch of space is visible between our bodies as tongues tangle and hands grasp for hold. Breaking apart for air is out of the question, but who needs oxygen when he is the air I breathe. The very substance my very being craves for survival. But it’s not enough. No kiss or touch is ever enough. Even when one of us is inside the other, joined as close as humanly possible, I still want and need and ache for more. I was right the day I told him the love we share is toxic at best. That’s just the problem with two halves of the same soul being forced to live in different bodies. Nothing about it is healthy, but living any other way wouldn’t be living at all.
He pulls away all too soon, brushing his lips lightly against my temple. Once. Twice. Three times. “I love you,” I whisper back. His palm wraps around the base of my neck, bringing my forehead to rest against his. “Until every star in the night sky burns out?” My smile is instant. “And maybe even then.”
I loved this!! It was a quick read. Interesting, captivating and fast-paced.
I love Rain & River, I enjoyed being able to see how they were going as a couple after college. Rain absolutely killed me in the best way! Seeing how vulnerable he is, just made me fall for him even more 🖤
This was the perfect novella to see what River and Rain are up to all these years later. While they still have their moments of pain when it comes to the past, or trying to figure out the distance between both of their careers, they still find a way to love each other out loud. And Vale as the perfect addition to their family was just the best. It was so nice seeing them in their established lives after all the pain and hardships they endured. They deserve all the happiness in the world 🥹

“Who needs oxygen when he is the air I breathe. The very substance my very being craves for survival.”
“This need to touch him is always insurmountable, but it’s always the worst when I’m reminded of the day that almost took this away from us. Sharing a life. A future we can build together, full of love and laughter to erase all the pain we’ve been through. At our own hands or others. And not a day goes by that I’m not grateful to be alive and here with him.”
“Whatever you need, Abhainn,” — “I’ll always give you everything.”
“I swear, I’ll never get tired of looking at him. Admiring the man I’m lucky enough to love for the rest of my life.”
“As if I’d want to be anywhere else. I could stay like this for hours, so wrapped in each other, the rest of the world doesn’t exist.”
“I love you,” — “Until every star in the night sky burns out?” — “And maybe even then.”

This little bonus novella starts 4 years after the other books. River and Rain are married and living in Boston with their husky, Vail. It's a little snapshot of their first Christmas after getting married (basically a cute spicy scene) and the lead up to the Super Bowl when the guys are super busy. River decides to plan a surprise trip for their anniversary and recruits a friend to help. Rain is stressed and when River starts being secretive and hanging out with friends while Rain is away, he gets jealous and suspicious (also Rain's bff, on the team, Knox, GF just cheated). There is miscommunication, Rain asks if River is cheating, River gets offended, Rain wins the Super Bowl and they both get over it. I found this novella silly and annoying in that it didn't show much growth of the characters and offered no new information.

I love Rain. That is all.
His insecurities. His vulnerabilities. Every special way he tells River how much he loves him.

River and Rain, I love to bits.💕 Going into the story itself, If I was River I also would have been upset about the conclusion Rain came to. I would have let him have it as well. I would also have forgiven him (eventually) because Rain went through a lot in his life and none of that will magically disappear. He worked hard to get where he is emotionally but there would still be difficulties here and there. Anyway all is well that ends well. I love that they relentlessly pursued building a future together and also each of them worked to build a fulfilling career. Rivain is amazeballs!
How did I not know about this novella??! It was literally the best Valentine’s gift 🥹 I read River of Rain dualogy last January and absolutely loved those raw, emotional moments that I had while reading River & Rain story! I don’t usually like novellas especially if they are full stand alone stories BUT when it’s additional content about characters I love and cherish is always the blast. I was so happy to read about glimpses of life that Rain and River have after events on main books. Yeah, they still have struggles and downs but their ups and LOVE made through it all💙
✔ Letto in lingua originale!
So sad to leave these two behind after having been through so much with them, but I am happy that they got their happy ending.
I love that this novella wasn’t just sunshine and rainbows, but that it was a realistic look into their lives and the struggles that sometimes comes with life and how they get through them together.
I was so happy to see there was a novella of these two because I wasn't done with them. Even after a duet I needed more. I loved seeing more of them and reading more about the future their building together. They still need to work on their communication but they're human. Love these boys!
