I loved this Mafia Romance so much!! Paige deserves the world after everything she's gone through in life and Declan attempts to do just that. Even though at times I found his overprotectiveness overbearing... it is all justified considering what has happened and what is to come. I loved watching Paige and Declan's love story unfold and grow into something beautiful.

Dark Irish Mafia?? Sign me the f up. Declan was EVERYTHING. the obsession?? The touch her and die?? THE SPICE. Deceased. Gone. 6 ft under.
My sweet sweet Paige. I have never wanted to jump into a book and protect an FMC more. Her story absolutely broke me and her arc had me cheering her the f on. I support women’s rights. But I also support women’s rights. She can do no wrong 🤷🏼♀️
I cannot wait to see where this series goes. And like I know this one just released but Kaite, when we can expect the next one 😂
CHECK YOUR TRIGGERS. SHE IS DARK.

Thank you to the author for an ARC. Spoiler alert, so look away if you don't want spoiled. ▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎ This book was so terrible. Scratch your eyes out terrible. So many times, I wanted to DNF it, but opted not to because it was an ARC, and I was hoping it would get better.
My major issue with the book was how quickly it moved forward. I didn't feel the romance between the couple because it moved, like I said, quickly. Bam, they meet, sleep together, and he's already claiming her. Yes, most books happen like that, but their "relationship" felt one dimensional. It felt like the relationship and romance were pushed on you. I didn't feel like there was enough time for me to like the characters, much less being able to like them as a couple.
Another issue I had was all the time jumps. I kinda get why there are all these time jumps, but the time jumps where the characters are apart is significantly much more than when they were ever together. I'm talking months apart. On top of the time jumps, halfway through a paragraph, the MCs will be in completely different place and time. It's so abrupt that I'm left scratching my head wondering what's happening.
Want another reason?? The author writes to tell you what is happening and going on, instead of showing you. Yes, there will be times when she does show you, but I kept getting enraged when I was told something happened instead of being shown it.
Lastly, and probably the biggest issue I had with the book is the scene where the FMC was dead. It was so fake and not at all described right. I rolled my eyes at the impossibility. Once a person is dead for some time, you can't magically bring them back to life with chest compressions. On the off chance that you are able to revive them (not likely since you sat and held her for some before starting compressions), brain damage is eminent, and that person is essentially a vegetable... I got really heated around that chapter. As someone whose job deals with exactly this, I couldn't let this scene slide without mentioning it.
At one point, the FMC tries to take her life. As heartbreaking as the scene was, I could understand where she was coming from. Being able to feel/see what the FMC endured (rape, physical torture, and genital mutilation) made my stomach turn. If I were in her shoes, I wouldn't want to be living either. I understand why the author didn't do it for the story and for romance, but the literal on-page trauma the FMC endures is so sickening. It really brought perspective to women and child trafficking/rape. I also understand the anger she feels when they bring her back to life. After having no control over her life, that little escape was the one thing she actually controlled. My heart hurt for the FMC.
Overall, as you can tell, I didn't like the book. Do I regret it? No. I needed the perspective on human trafficking. We hear all the time about women and children going missing, and the perspective from this book was eye-opening.

4.5⭐️ Spoiler alert This was the most difficult and heartbreaking book I’ve ever read. At one point I have sure I would be able to continue. Warning that there this book is about Sex tracking, SA and lots of gruesome violence.
Paige has endured unspeakable abuse and trauma throughout her childhood at the hands of her own mother and drug dealer boyfriend. She leaves town at 18 and meets Sarah who saves her from committing suicide. Paige follows her to the big apple and meet Declan an Irish Mob Boss who is immediately infatuated with her and can’t stop thinking of her. On opening night of his new club He becomes aware that Paige is threatened by someone from her past. He wants to ensure she is safe so he gets her to stay at his place for the night for protection. Paige feels safe with Declan despite only having met him.
Days go by and Paige always feels she’s being watched . Declan moves her to his estate to keep her safe but all hell breaks loose when she feels trapped and a burden for Declan. She manages to leave the property but quickly regrets when she is taken.
The excruciating details of her abduction and had me weeping and feeling nauseous. Paige’s story is a testament to the strength one can have to rise above no matter what hell they have lived! In the end she gets her revenge and is freed.
First and foremost, please CHECK THE TW!!! This book has some very sensitive material that may be hard for some people to handle.
Paige had such a terrible childhood she thinks she could never feel a real attraction to someone. Insert Declan! Declan is the leader of the NYC Irish Mafia and one look at Paige he knew she was his forever.
It is not an easy road for these two to be together but Declan will fight tooth and nail for her.
This book was an absolute emotional roller coaster!!! Just when things started to look up something else happened. A very well written story. Lots of glimpse into the past to understand why Paige was feeling certain ways. And an ending that was absolutely PERFECT!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

I am a dark romance fan and friends, this book is dark. Let's get this right out of the way; this is a heavy read. Paige, sweet Paige, goes through it and you need to know that going in. Things are not good at times for Paige and Kaite shares her story in detail - its not wholly graphic buuuuuuut it also is.
I loved Paige and my heart just broke for her. I think Declan was absolutely perfect for her even though I thought that he could also be a bit overbearing which I suppose was valid but I also wanted to knock some sense into him when he became too much.
There is a lot that happens in this story, it will make you smile at the good times but it will also hurt. There is a HEA but this couple is going to go through it before they get there.
If you like:
- Dark Romance - Mafia Romance (Irish) - An FMC who is strong and a survivor - He Falls First and HARD - Overprotective, alpha MMC
The trigger warning list is like a mile long... if you are concerned about anything on that list, don't read this book. This isn't for you. Your mental health is important and sometimes you have to skip things that might not be good for you.
favorite quote: “The men in this family sure know how to love deeply. But the women in this family? That’s what they write about in history books.”
I am thankful to have had the opportunity to read this early and I think my fellow dark romance girlies are really going to love this one!
This book is dark and has some tough content to get through. I feel the content is needed to understand Paige's trauma, and Katie did a wonderful job describing the events the character went through.
Now to the best part! 4.5 🌟 3 🌶
This story had me in a choke hold! Declan is a wet dream come true. He knew instantly that Paige would be his & he would do anything to protect her & make her his.
Paige's childhood trauma prevented her from trusting anyone except her best friend until he showed up. The leader of the Irish Mafia will do anything to protect this woman, but Paige refuses to let anyone hold power over her again. So she runs.
This dark Irish mafia romance will keep you on your toes wanting more, needing more, and screaming for more!
Dark Romance Lovers this one is for you! This is an amazing debut novel! I loved it so much. Paige had to go through so much trauma in her life and I loved how strong she was. She never gave up! And... in comes Declan. I also loved him. He was so protective of Paige from the very beginning, and I was there for it. He wanted to give her the world!
This book is very dark and very graphic. So, if you decide to read it, which you should, please check the trigger warnings.
I read an ARC of Saving Paige and would absolutely recommend.
Dual POV Flashbacks Mafia Romance He Falls First Touch her and die (in a very painful way) Trauma Healing (in an unconventional way)
This book was EVERYTHING. I do feel I need to start by saying check out the trigger warnings for this, it is DARK. If you love mafia romance, dark romance, morally grey men, and a traumatic past in a FMC then you need to read this book ASAP.
Paige has a tragic past that will make you want to hold her until everything is better. Declan is the young boss for the Irish Mafia and he loves his job. Add the two of them together and the chemistry is immediate and strong. Declan will do anything to protect Paige. And he does.
Underneath the very dark and traumatic themes, this is a story about love, friendship, conquering your demons, and finding your strength.
I also need to read Emily & Sarah's stories as soon as I physically can.
Full disclosure, i found the author on threas. There is a point you want to forcefully move your reading object to the other side. KEEP GOING! The ending is perfect
This book gets infinite stars it’s so good😭😭 I was hooked from beginning to end! Declan is one of my fave book boyfriends of this year. I love a possessive, obsessed, morally gray mmc and he’s all three. Paige has been through so much and goes through so much more throughout this book but by the end she becomes the absolute badass that we knew she could be🥹🥹 Even the side characters like Rhys, Sarah, Emily, and Lily (the best horse EVER🥰) are so lovable. There’s also a strong found family aspect too which makes this even better.
Wow. I found this book when a taking a Google deep dive to find a second chance mafia romance. When Book 2 in this series came up, I instantly wanted to jump right in to it, but decided to heed Katie’s warning to read Saving Paige first. AND THANK GOD I DID!!!
I haven’t had emotions evoked like this since reading Hunting Adeline. The way this author is able to make me laugh and cry and feel such joy is amazing. There was something extremely cathartic about this book.
As a SA survivor and a woman who’s undergone multiple surgeries that’s left her “disfigured”, there is such peace in hearing how Declan loves and worships her.
Thank you Katie, for writing the book I didn’t know I needed. I cannot wait to start Freeing Emily 💛
I need to rant. The beginning of this book was great then it slowly started to go downhill. The insta love was terribly written. (I mean is it ever written well though? I dunno) He is just suddenly obsessed with her and they never talk about anything ? Like what is so special about her, you know nothing. I AM PISSED over the fact that she never opened up about her childhood trauma and what happened to her to him until 95% into the book and even then it was just glossed over. She went through all this trauma and horrific abuse and just spreads her legs for the first attractive guy she meets at the club and goes straight home with him? It’s so unrealistic. It was like a car crash, you couldn’t look away.

i freaking shivered when I read the details in the book and i mean im terrified but uk what I ain't gonna stop reading them bcoz im a book girlies. Kaite 🤌🏻 you literally did justice to the characters and the book. Daclan & Paige come here my darlings. Can't wait when they come in the world of fictional characters.
i have read many mafia books and other dark romance but this one is DARK. definitely check out all the trigger warnings beforehand! i really liked reading this book. the MMC gave me major Edward Cullen vibes with just how enthralled and protective he was of the FMC. i really enjoyed being able to see the FMC heal and work through her traumas, in somewhat unconventional ways lol. again, this book is very dark and heavy, especially with mental health stuff that might have had me crying a couple times. i am really looking forward to seeing more from this author! this was an ARC!
First thing I will say about this book is check the trigger warnings! It is a DARK book. But I absolutely devoured it! I live for a “He fell first”, “I’ll burn the whole world down for her” dark romance. Paige’s backstory is gut wrenching and her character development thought out the book was inspiring. The only thing I felt was missing was a little more build up when it came to the beginning of Paige and Declan’s relationship but that didn’t change my obsession with this book at all. I can’t wait to read Emily and Sarah’s story next!
It is a must read!!!I cannot wait for the next book!! This book has trauma, survival, strength, healing, love, and spice!! The love that the main characters all have for eachother warms my heart!! I highly recommend this book!!
That all being said, Make sure you read the TW as it hits some heavy subject and if you are sensitive to certain things you will want to be prepared.
This book was so damn good. I loved every minute of reading Declan n Paige's story. I also really Connected with the supporting characters. Paige's story is hard, so dark and tortured. Declan is rough, broody, and powerful, but his love for Paige is epic. Can't wait for book 2.
Her graphic disturbing nightmares gave me hope for something better, her world just couldn’t stop rocking to hell but aftermath was horrible, I get that it’s a fiction but it requires atleast some common sense to sell.
There was soo much potential in here if only they took a break from all that smush. Horrendous.
This book was just too dark for me Teenage gang rape and sexual abuse by a string of older men doesn't put you in a romantic mood. I gave it a three just because the author did leave good trigger warnings and I so appreciate that. I just couldn't get into this book but it might be okay for someone with a high mental pain threshold.. this stuff gives me nightmares
I only have this story 5 stars because it gave me nostalgia, it reminds me of a wattpad story, the abuse scenes were very hard to read, I skipped nearly all of them so read the trigger warnings, this book is darker than the haunting Adeline duet, the couple moved on VERY fast, and they kinda fell flat, like they don’t talk about nothingggg before falling in love lmao, honestly the book isn’t great but I liked it, if you’re looking for an in depth review i’m not the one for ya lol, but for me personally it was 5 stars.
