Chloe Westhill was content to be a book-loving spinster until her parents were killed in a tragic fire in Philadelphia, leaving her without any means to provide for herself. Now, her only recourse is to travel out West and claim her own piece of land. The complication to her plan she never saw coming was an unwanted attraction to the wagon master guiding her group across the country.
Will Chloe arrive safely in Wyoming? Will she stay true to her faith? And will she let herself fall for the handsome wagon master or double down on being alone?
I always enjoy stories about wagon trains and the trials and tribulations of their journey. Chloe's world implodes when her parents die, and she is left to figure out what to do with the rest of her life. This is a real occurrence in the 1800's for young women with no extended family. She decides to be adventurous and head out to the West on a wagon train to find a piece of land of her own. That would be a great task in my opinion! I wouldn't know the first thing about that and I admired her because she was a city girl! But, she had a lot of grit and it showed time and time again through the story. She is surprised that she feels attracted to the wagon master but as she gets to know him, she finds a kindred spirit in him. They help get the wagon train through many trials. I enjoyed this story although hearing about her "willowy frame" many times was a little bit of overkill!
This was a different kind of story than I am used to reading from Jennifer Branson but was still very enjoyable.
After Chloe’s parents pass away, she sees no solution to her problems but joining a team and heading west. Randall is the wagon master of the team and she can’t help but feel drawn to him.
I loved how determined Chloe was to learn the ways of the trial and help in any way possible. She proved that even though she was in her own as a woman she was still useful.
Randall as the trial master is used to being on his own and in charge. As trials on the trail arise, they face them as a team and Randall opens up to Chloe. The two of them realize they aren’t so different after all, each suffering great loss and looking for a brighter future.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All options are my own.
This is an intriguing story of shared trials and triumphs. And of shared faith. The characters are interesting and well done. The plot moved forward at a steady pace with characters who showed stamina, support, love, grit, and faith. I loved the daily rituals, the bits of excitement, the action, and the togetherness. This is a great addition to the Prairie Rose collection.
Chloe intended to start a new life out west. Falling in love with the wagon master was not in her plans. However, someone once said that “We plan, and God laughs.”
As Randall and Chloe navigate their budding relationship, they must also navigate the dangers of the trail. The way out west is filled with peril. Will everyone survive the journey? If you like American historical romance with a dash of suspense, you might enjoy this story.
Chloe is my favorite type of heroine. She doesn’t stand around wring her hands with a woe is me attitude and expecting a rescuer on a white horse to come charging it. She finds a possible solution and makes the best of it. Her first stroke of good fortune is she found a wagon train that would accept a single lady travelling with it. Second, she found a good family to travel along with and to assist. Who wouldn’t love someone that could admit she didn’t know how to do something but was willing to learn. Wagon master, Randall, never really had a chance to not fall in love with her, but he did put up a good fight. I enjoyed this book.
Chloe has nothing after her parents passed away so she heads West to claim the free land offered by the government. Along the way she begins to fall for the Wagon Master Randall and he falls for her but before they can move forward with their relationship they have to overcome the difficulties along the way, Sweet clean romance.
Wow! Another great story in this incredible series! Although the author is new to me I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. Full of everything you would expect to find. Adventure, bandits, tragedy, faith, family and love. Randall and Chloe’s story intertwines each to the other. I couldn’t put it down!
I so enjoyed Randall and Chloe's story. He was the wagon master and she needed to leave as she'd lost her family and had nothing left. These two endured and overcame much on their way west. It all makes for an interesting read full of faith and love.
"A journey filled with adventure, challenges, and endless love." This quote from the book sums it all up! It is such a heart warming story that just makes you feel good to read!
This was a great book and what a fantastic author. I highly recommend this book and author. I can’t wait to read the next book by this wonderful author.
