Those who craved power with insatiable fervor never stayed in the shadows for long.
In the final battle, everyone has a part to play.
Aislin attempts to make amends with her thorny past but comes face to face with the very evil that's tormented her since escaping the Silent Woods. As she’s forced to confront her waking nightmares, Kyleigh grapples with the fallout of her decision at the barrier. With their kingdom’s last line of defense torn away, she turns her focus to unlocking the Valídus Véneníficium’s secrets and tracking down their enemy.
In order to gain insight into Inverno’s newest captives, Redmond reclaims his role as Celaria’s villain, and tensions flare as he and Kyleigh try to salvage their crumbling kingdoms.
But unexpected magic takes root, drawing the Revered and their champions into the Enchantress’s twisted plan. Can they break free from her grasp and unite the realm? Or is Celaria destined to go up in a fiery blaze with the legacy of everything they’ve sacrificed?
Soar is the electrifying conclusion to The Blaze Legacy series, a NA/Adult Dark Portal Fantasy Romance that is full of magic, mythical creatures, delicious tension, and spice that builds. It contains some on-page content best suited for readers over the age of 18.
Author L.R. Friedman loves curling up with a cup of coffee while diving into her fantasy and paranormal romance worlds. She currently lives in Virginia with her husband and three children.
When she's not writing, you'll find her enjoying tacos, dark chocolate, and the occasional glass of whiskey.
The girl that grew up trying to find a magical realm hidden in her closet, L.R. Friedman hopes to transport readers to beautiful, sexy, dark and magical places through her stories.
I can't believe this series has come to an end. I feel so empty. How am I supposed to keep living? How was I alive before I read The blaze legacy? I have no idea. All I know is that I am far too proud of Lauren for completing her debut series of 5. Why do I feel like a proud mom lol First of all, thank you for the eArc, and letting me be an initiative arc reader of your books. I am beyond grateful for them. Redmond tell me more of yourself I am not ready to let you go.... Not ready to leave Arafax and Inverno and Cicatrix go... I started reading descend when I was at my lowest and it has become a friend to me. I have become addicted to Lauren's writing style, the worldbuilding, the plots (which are OMG MY JAW? ON THE FLOOR) Sorry I am yapping bc I am too excited. 100% recommended.
Kyleigh, Aislin, and their allies’ journeys are fraught with grief, hardship, and danger. Everything they’ve worked for culminates in Soar. As they face off against the Enchantress, they have everything to lose and are willing to sacrifice for the good of the kingdom.

This series is so special and unique. I loved the depiction of different types of love that evolve and blossom despite differing backgrounds and circumstances. I went through a roller coaster of emotions - my heart leapt with every reveal and twist and melted with each romantic storyline.
In Soar, LR takes the reader on a brutal, brilliant, and breathtaking ride. We are gifted with an epic payoff for that immensely satisfying slow burn 🔥. Soar gave me everything I had hoped and wished for our characters. They will stay close to my heart forever.
Grateful to the author for the ARC opportunity. This is my honest and voluntary review
It’s so beautiful to see the growth from all our favorite (and least favorite) characters as the plot came full circle. We swoon, we laugh, we cry, we swoon some more, cry some more, and swoon even more. Soar was everything I wanted and more to mend the broken ties of Celaria back together.
I will never stop recommending this series, thank you for giving us the closure we deserved at the end of that roller coaster of a series!
Such a beautiful ending to L.R. Friedman's debut series.
The roller coaster of emotions that she brought us on in this book but also throughout the series.
And man, did all that slooooooooooooow burn pay off. *fans self*
All her characters are multi-dimensional and aren't just heroes or villains but a mixture of both. Her characters are willing to become who/what they need to be to succeed. It was so fun to watch it happen.
Need a full series to binge? This is the one to do. It's an incredible journey.
“One day I would fly above it with the wind at my back and the stars at my side. One day, I would soar.”
“well, I knew better than most that a woman with nothing to lose was the most dangerous thing of all.”
“I'd gladly be Celaria's villain, but if I couldn't protect my people and our allies, then what had it all been for? It was the only way I could live with the reckoning of my past. The only way I could plot out a future.”
How do you say goodbye to close friends? How do you say goodbye to family? It’s hard. It’s one of the hardest things you might ever find yourself doing. You might say to me that it’s not the same for fictional characters. Are you sure about that? This series has been and always will be my entire personality. When I started reading Descend, I felt seen. I felt heard and I felt like I wanted to jump into a full unknown world with the wonder of a child in my eyes meeting new friends I would have brought with me forever. I loved with them the struggles of the beginning of their journey. I felt joy for them and fear through the impervious path of Scale. My heart broke alongside theirs in Ascend only to be brought back again in a decent form in Fall. Nothing could have prepared me for the overwhelming amount of emotions I would have experienced going into this last stand with them. Nothing could have prepared me for the thrill and excitement of new relationships. For the security and stability and devotion of those already existing. For the pain of those whom we lost in the past but are still there. And for the joy of a chapter closing and beautiful memories staying back with me. Soar brought me fear, nervousness, struggle, pain and suffering, spiciness and excitement and endless joy and happiness. And I wouldn’t have had it any other way. There were moments when the tears were flowing freely and I couldn’t form coherent words, because they were all chocked up in my throat. And there were moments when I couldn’t stop talking about how happy I was. I will never be able to show to this author my gratitude for allowing me into this world. Into this characters’ lives and hearts as much as they entered in mine. I will never get over this series. And I will always love it from the bottom of my heart !!!
“I don't know what the stars have in store for us, but I do know that you were the first one I saw. A glimpse of hope soaring through the darkest night's sky. I need that hope, Redmond... I need you.”
“Loving her was the most dangerous thing I could do.”
"What is the point of forgiving others, forgiving me, if you can't even forgive yourself?"
"But I'm broken. A mess." "If you're a mess, I'm a disaster.” … "We're all a little bit broken."
Ever since reading Descend, this series has had a close hold in my heart, and now here we are. Soar is out in the world and I have closed the last chapter of this amazing series. I followed L. R. Friedman since the start of it and It's amazing that even when Descend was already so great, she got it in her to keep on growing and developing throughout the whole series. Every book kept getting better and better. She got it so far that in every book, there happend something that got me crying. I wanted to scream, and punch a hole in a wall. But she kept me reading the books, and I love every single one of them.
In Soar we go back one more time to Celaria and the characters we met from the start or meet somewhere in one of the other books. And like I said here above, Lauren made it possible to let all the characters grow into something big. Getting back into it right where we left off in Fall, we're going on one more adventure with Kyleigh, Aislin, Sloan, Redmond, Ox, Neve and everyone else. And this was once again a fast paced book, filled with magic, love, spice and most of all adventure. It's hard to not love the characters and even when you want to punch someone for the choices they make, it always end well.
I am so very sad this amazing series is over, but knowing L. R. Friedman, she will have amazing things in store for us readers.
Thank you L. R. Friedman for this ARC to read and review.
Oh my beloved Blaze Legacy, it's so bittersweet to see you come to an end. These characters will forever hold a place in my heart, and I hope to find myself revisiting Celaria time and time again.
This was such a wonderful ending to this story. The stakes are high, I laughed, cried, swooned, and pretty much any other emotion you can imagine. 😆 I definitely recommend keeping something nearby to wipe your tears, whether they be sad or happy ones.
I just truly think I got everything I hoped for out of this book. Each character had their perfect ending and I can't imagine it any other way. I can only hope perhaps one day we get a spin-off series. 😉💜
This series has kept me in a chokehold since I first read Descend. I have loved every moment with these characters, their growth and the world(s) they've built. One of my god-tier series. I couldn't be happier with this conclusion 🖤
Words can't describe my thoughts on this book or this series, but I will try. The Blaze Legacy series is one of my favorite fantasy series of all time and one I have read over and over. The world of Celaria feels like home at this point and it's so hard to say goodbye.
Soar was the epitome of everything I love about this series. From the found family, to the high stakes battles, to the love and devotion in each romantic relationship, to the magical spicy times, to the epic dragons, and so much more, this book is definitely one of my top reads this year.
I love how all the threads and storylines woven throughout the series all came together. The ending was incredible! The resolution for every character was absolutely perfect.
This series ripped out my soul. I devoured this book and cried so many times along the way. I'm so sad its over. This book was beautiful this series has found family perfected and the spice is chefs kiss!!! Cannot recommend enough.
Oh my heart what a journey we go on in the finale of the Blaze Legacy series, Book 5, Soar.
Soar picks right back up from the ending of Fall and there is much to be done in order to figure out what the Enchantress is planning. After Kyleigh’s choices in Fall are their people safe?
Throw in some pining, betrayal, happiness and heartbreak, as you get taken on a rollercoaster ride of emotions throughout this book. It was such a great ending to their story and it was wonderful to watch Kyleigh grow and develop throughout the series.
Throughout the series there is such a wonderful character development of really all the main characters, especially those in the beginning we dislike but come to love at the end. The love of the Found Family is so strong and they are really willing to do anything for each other.
This final chapter of the Blaze Legacy was absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking. While excited there is a possibility that there might be a possibility of more. Because honestly I am not ready to let go of these characters or this world! I have completely fallen in love with this universe and I’m heartbroken to see it come to an end. That being said… L.R. Friedman you are absolutely amazing with your talent in creating such an amazing series that draws readers in and captures them. This series is an all around masterpiece!
Longer review to come when I'm not deep in my feelings about the end of this series, but Lauren knocked this out of the park and I am so sad to see the end of this story. Maybe we could get a lil novella eventually, showing everyone at the (redacted) that they are building at the end of the story!
I have been so excited for this book! It is everything I had hoped it would be and LR gave this series the ending it deserved. However, it is bittersweet as this series is now complete and I will miss Celaria so much. This will definitely be a series I re-read at least once a year. These characters found their way into my heart and just reside there now. The journey that each of them went out, together and alone, has been amazing and their growth unbelievable.
Book 3 in this series gutted me! So much so that I was messaging LR constantly asking her “How could you?!”. Book 4 began the healing and ended with me needing book 5 to see what she had in store for my favorite FMC and morally grey MC. It took so much self control to not scan through this book and see when and where “it” would finally happen. But LR delivered the healing I believe so many of us needed with this book. Even beyond them, each relationship that bloomed during this series received the ending they deserved.
This series grew from romantic to steamy, from sad to tragic, from forgiveness to redemption. Although not everyone gets the happy ending we so hoped for, this book helps to tie everything up and give the readers the understanding of why some things had to happen the way they did. I will forever be grateful to LR for writing this series and pouring her soul and heart into it!
If you haven’t read The Blaze Legacy yet, what are you waiting for? This series is one you need if you are fan of romantasy, morally gray, sapphic, and twists you don’t see coming. LR is a genius storyteller as well, having little easter eggs throughout the entire series leading up to the publication of this book. Although it will never be the first time reading it again, I know I will discover new things with each re-read, because that is how good LR is.
As always, review any author notes before reading.

The epic finale of the series is here! Soar is book five in L.R. Friedman's The Blaze Legacy.
This series was definitely a unique read for me as it is not in a genre I dance with very often. Often times I am overwhelmed by fantasy and stay clear, but I am such a massive fan of Friedman’s writing that I held on tight and jumped in head first.
The books lead you on a rollercoaster of emotions, and having them finally come to a close was amazing and very satisfying. I loved all the multi-faceted characters- good and evil - hero and villain. This slow-burn story was filled with everything you could want, with a hefty punch to the feels.
Also, here's a side note: This series has some of the most beautiful cover art that I have seen!
Thank you to L.R. Friedman for gifting me an eARC of Soar. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wow, what an absolutely *amazing* final chapter to an unforgettable series! I’m still reeling from this emotional roller coaster of a book! Friedman completely nailed it, wrapping up her debut series brilliantly. I’m sad to say goodbye to my beloved (and Revered 😉) characters.
The way all the storylines weaved together and came to a perfect conclusion left me with a satisfying feeling of closure. I’d love nothing more than to return to Celaria and revisit these incredible characters over and over, but even if that doesn’t happen, Friedman has truly tied up every loose end. No fraying threads, no unanswered questions — but still plenty to be explored as time goes on.
What a great grand finale to the series! I have loved all these novels, and this one is no exception. Watching these characters grow and evolve reading this has been a truly magical experience. I felt like I made friends while reading these and am willing to admit shedding a tear or two.
Before these, I didn't read a lot of fantasy, but the storyline looked intriguing, so I gave it a shot and am so glad that I did.
Heartfelt and action packed, I would definitely recommend this to any reader that likes a strong story and a mix of unforgettable characters.
My first thought after finally finishing the entire blaze legacy is just wow. That was a wild wild ride and I loved every minute. The plot was so complex and detailed, the character arcs beautiful and the love was over flowing. This was the found family of my dreams and it felt like I was truly part of it. LR Friedman absolutely delivered with the HEA and the segue into her other series Celestial Haven was BRILLIANT.
My favorite character would have to be Daddy Redmond because he really grew on you and you didn’t even notice. By the end, you have no choice but to love him and want the world for him.
Again, idk what else I can say other than I loved this series so much. 🥹♥️ Now all I have left to do is to add them to my trophy shelf.
I have been reading this series of books since the very beginning and I am so proud and happy to see where the story ended up. All the characters were developed so well and the world and plot building was top tier. The author was able to beautifully wrap up all loose ends and questions we as readers may have had. Redmond is literally the best and I love his growth as a character. I can’t believe it is actually done but it will forever have a piece of my heart.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 I love this series and these characters. This book is an excellent ending.
I really like Travis and his character arc. He’s a very interesting character. I didn’t fully follow what exactly happens with the moon but I’m just going to accept it and move on.
I really thought were we gonna lose Ox for a minute there. I was very unwell for that full minute.
🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 I think this book does a really good job with good plot and spicy scenes.

LOVED IT!!! I was shocked when I saw at the end this was her debut novel/series. The story is great, writing was amazing, character and world building was awesome. This series goes down as one of my top 5 favorite romantasy.
Now I’m dying to find out what happens with Travis and Anna in the other world and is the Enchantress really gone??? I feel like she’s waiting and biding her time 😶🌫️
Also poor Redmond the man is like 45 trying to have kids haha 😂
You know how when you get to that final climax of a book and it just starts to take off??? Soar is DEFINITELY that part of the Blaze Legacy!
It’s bittersweet to read the last book in a series but I LOVED 🥰 it! The way Lauren brought all of the character arcs together to conclude this series was amazing. Plus, if you would have told me in book 1 that I would be team Red I would’ve called you crazy 🤪 But I love Red for Ky. Their relationship is so sweet and strong 💙🩷
What can I say? I love this series and I’m sad it’s over but I also love the ending so I can’t complain! Highly recommend to anyone who loves urban fantasy!
I’m so sad it’s over, this is a must read series! I want to visit this magical world of love, light, danger, intrigue, and mastery. Just such a magical story.
I am sad this is over. This was an amazing finish to an amazing series. It feels surreal when I look at the start of this series, and the growth over time. Each character develops, matures, fights, grieves, loves, and endures. I went from loathing to loving in some characters cases, yet shed tears as if these were my real friends.
I'm so proud of Lauren's writing, and each series that she writes just gets better and better, and I can't wait to see where her writing takes me next.
