In the thrilling world of professional hockey, Paddy reigns as both alpha of the American pack and owner of the Minnesota Wild. But amidst the roar of the crowd and the clash of sticks on ice, he's been alone, watching his teammates find love while he remains unclaimed.
Everything shifts when Felicia steps onto the scene, interviewing for the role of the Wild's athletic trainer. Her entrance sparks a fire, disrupting Paddy's solitary world. Navigating the delicate balance between Pack obligations and the desires of his heart, Paddy has to decide if he should get mated to his true love.
But beneath the surface of their burgeoning romance lies a supernatural secret that could change everything. In the midst of escalating passion and impending danger, Paddy and Felicia must balance their wants and needs against the Canadian alpha who doesn’t want to lose his sister.
In "One Last Game," the stakes are high, the passion is intense, and the game of love is anything but ordinary.
This is a fun, entertaining read. Paddy and Felicia are interesting, complex, intriguing, relatable, entertaining, fun characters. Their path to HEA is fun to read. I enjoyed these characters as individuals and a couple. I enjoyed the family dynamic of the story and its impact on the main characters. The secondary characters added to the fabric of the story and my enjoyment. The story is easy to read and get into. This book can be read as a standalone – as this was the first book in the series I’ve read and I didn’t feel lost or confused, nor like I was missing anything.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
ONE LAST GAME is the fourth in Kat Obie’s Loving the Pack paranormal romance series, featuring the Wild, an NFL team primarily made up of shifters.
The United States pack alpha Paddy Kilpatrick has his hands full with managing the team as well as guiding the pack. When the pack and team interview for a new doctor, he’s surprised to discover that Felicia Tomlinson, sister of the Canadian pack alpha, is not only the experienced doctor they need, but also his mate.
Kat Obie’s story is an entertaining read, and a terrific addition to the series.
I finished my ARC of One Last Game by Kat Obie today. It was a good read. I hadn't read any paranormal books before so blending this with my favorite hockey trope it made for an interesting read. I liked being able to see/read about the pack shift in different kinds of shifters. I enjoyed reading about Felicia and Paddy. Loved seeing how the mating mode played out with the packs.
This is the first book I’ve read in this series, so I can definitely say that this book does read as a standalone. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve read a paranormal book and Paddy & Felicia’s story reminded me why I went through a phase of devouring them one after another. There was just so much happening but it wasn’t just there to unnecessarily fill up the pages. At times I did actually wonder why a certain thing was happening, but after a few chapters went by, it all just seemed to click. Honestly the amount of aha moments that I had would have to be close to a record for me. But it was definitely the connection between Paddy and Felicia that made this book for me. These two were so well written and were so well matched, it really made for some exceptional reading. So it will be no surprise that I am definitely going to read the previous books released as this one was just that good.
Kat Obie released One Last Game, the new book #4 in the Loving the Pack series.Full of all kinds of shifter awesomeness, hockeyromance, wolves and a phenomenal slowburn spice fest, what else do you need? Author Kat Obie tosses in a twist that turns the story towards a fabolous ending! I’m sad to see Loving the Pack end but what a flawless story for Patrick and Felicia, the perfect end for this amazing series.
Felicia and Paddy are shifters brought together when the werewolf and vampire-led hockey team Paddy owns recruits Felicia for the team trainer/medic position. Their attraction is immediate and primal, and they realize they are fated mates. A family member and pack politics may stand in the way of their HEA. I enjoyed this paranormal romance; it was a quick, fun book and can be read both as a standalone and as part of the series. I received an advance reader copy from the author and bookfunnel and I’m sharing my honest opinion.
So I went into this story blind and not having read the author or series before. Where I love hockey I was all in and this was such an interesting twist from the normal hockey romance due to the pack/shifter genre added in. It was interesting and I enjoyed the dynamics Of Paddy’s team and his dedication. Felicia was a strong character and their chemistry was undeniable. Glad I took the chance on this story
Felicia is a midlife Canadian wolf shifter doctor who is ready to make a change in her life. She accepts a job offer as team physician/trainer for a US wolf shifter hockey team. Paddy is their owner and alpha of the local pack. When they meet, they instantly knows there’s a good chance that they are mates and falls quickly. But Felicia is the sister to a Canadian pack alpha. Will her brother accept their relationship? Lots of interactions with team members. Lots of romance between Felicia and Paddy - he’s more of a cinnamon roll than super dominate alpha. A feel good, fairly low angst story. Expect a twist you didn’t see coming and don’t forget your bonus chapter! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This was my introduction to Kat Obie, but I’m definitely going to take up more of her writing. A paranormal (shifters) sports romance- such a great combo and very well written. A great, quick read with plenty banter, a cinnamon roll MMC, and a career driven FMC, a little angst caused by her alpha (to another pack) brother, and a great ending. I’m looking forward to reading more of this series.
Paddy and Felicia are a fated couple but there’s impediments to their relationship that they need to overcome. Wolf shifters in hockey is a very interesting concept. For me, there was a lot of paranormal focus, with minimal hockey focus.
Not quite my cup of tea, but that’s no one’s fault.
Paddy is the owner of a specialized NHL team and Alpha of the American pack of werewolves. Felicia, who just happens to be the half-sister of the Canadian Alpha, is hired to be the team’s new trainer. Sparks fly between the two as they try to take things slowly. It was a cute little quick lead, but I did feel like more could have been explored between the two. Still left me wanting to go back and read her other related books.
Read as a standalone. Love hockey , don’t usually go for shifter reading , but I really enjoyed this complex romance between Paddy and Felicia. Writing is entertaining and kept my interest.I was forwarded this book and I’m leaving a review voluntarily.
One Last Game is a fun and entertaining read! Pack Alpha Paddy is a caring, loyal, empathic leader who shows caution, forethought and patience with each and every member of his pack. Doctor Felicia is brilliant, funny, and independent, looking for her place in the world while being open to the possibilities.
I love how author Kat Obie built these two characters their journey to each other while staying true to each of their individual personalities. The supporting characters each brought a level of complexity and entertainment to the overall plot line, and the witty banter between them was well-scripted. I would have liked to see a bit more development of Paddy and Felicia’s connection and relationship—there were moments when it felt like the author could have gone deeper.
Though this is apparently the first book in the series, and there were references to things I didn’t fully understand, they didn’t hinder the overall enjoyment of this reading experience—I enjoyed it as a stand-alone. This was my first Kat Obie book, but it will not be my last! I’m definitely going to go back and read the other books in this series. I mean, you really can’t go wrong with hot hockey shifters!!!
I enjoyed an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review.
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. To start I will say I do enjoy Kat Obie books, I mean who doesn’t love a good hockey romance?….. it’s my favourite trope. I wasn’t sure how to feel about the whole werewolf/shifter concept, and to be honest, it’s not my thing, and still isn’t. That being said, I did enjoy the writing of One Last Game, and the storey kept me entertained and engaged. Paddy is the alpha of the American pack who owns an NHL team full of werewolves and shifters. His team needs a new doctors who is familiar with not only medicine but veterinary medicine. Felicia is looking for life outside of her Canadian pack, where everyone is in your business. There is an instant attraction between Paddy and Felicia, but will they be able to overcome their pack differences and mate? This is my first werewolf book. It was well written and easy to follow along if you’re new to this genre. Though I doubt I’ll read anymore books of this nature, it was a light fun read with a happy ending. It’s a good book to pick up for a light and quick read. Final review 3.5
One Last Game is some of Obie’s best work. This might be my new favorite. It grabbed me right away and I didn’t want to put it down.
Obie was true to what we have come to expect from Paddy - strong, wise, loyal to the pack. I have wondered for a while (just like his pack) if he’d find his mate.
Enter Felicia. She’s a strong, smart woman that is perfectly happy being on her own but still trying to find her place in the world.
The conflict was somewhat expected but I appreciate the way it played out and that it was handled quickly.
Two things worth mentioning: 1. Jayden during the pack shift. 😂😂😂 I don’t know why but the sea otters are my favorites. 2. Poonami. I have never heard it called that but it’s the perfect name for it.
I’d give One Last Game more than 5 stars if I could. It’s definitely one I’ll reread (something I don’t do often).
This story was so much fun. I loved the discriptions of the Otters shifting and reacting to the hunt. The story is well thought out and while the book is not long, it is entertaining to find out how they get around a huge problem. The Alpha, Paddy and the new Doctor for the team, Felicia, become Mates. Problem is, Felicia is the half-sister of the Canadian Alpha, who doesn't want anyone, particularly American wolves to be with her. I love the Wolves Hockey. Well written, with just enough spice, descriptions and mystery to keep you reading. Now, can we have the next one soon please.
I really enjoyed this quick fun read by Kat Obie. This is the first I have read of hers and I am going to go back and read the rest of this series at the very least. I loved the characters and how easy the story flowed. If you love a good hockey trope or shifters (or in this case both) give this book a read. You wont be disappointed.
I was given an ARC to read and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a quick well paced story set in a world of humans and shifters, I really liked Felicia and Paddy especially Paddy as he was a slightly more relaxed Alpha around those close to him, but his relationship with Felicity causes a rift with her family that they need to deal with in order for them to have a HEA.
I'm voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a free copy. I enjoyed reading about Paddy and Felicia's mating. They danced around a bit before committing. Her brother was a bit to deal with but okay once he got over his spate of insecurities. I hope there is more in this series.
Such a cute, quick read! This is my first by this author, but won’t be my last. The story was fun to read and loved watching the characters develop and fall for each other. Their chemistry was undeniable.
This story is short and sweet but also quite steamy! So good! I couldn’t put it down! I love the storyline! Highly recommend ! I definitely want to read more books from this author.
This was an easy to read shifter / hockey romance. I liked the overall story, but there were some inconsistencies with the timeline and how time is passing that took me out of the story.
