╰┈➤KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

'𝐂A𝐆E O𝐅 𝐈C𝐄 𝐀N𝐃 𝐄C𝐇O𝐄S' Is the second full length romance book within the (frozen Fate) trilogy by author Pam Godwin. Spoken in multiple POV's and ends in a cliffy.

I don't want to divulge too much, because to do that gives too many clues away with what's ahead for these characters. So this is just going to be a no frills review. Go in blind and like me I hope you love the shit out of this book!!

When this lands on your ipad you stop life and hide for the day!! After that cliffy in the previous book my anticipation levels skyrocketed for this book and I couldn't wait to dive in...

Riddle me this, riddle me that..
Secrets, lies, riddles to be unraveled.

This series set in an unforgiving terrain captured my attention from the get go, survival against all odds within Alaska, fighting to survive not only against the animals which roam the place but hunger too as their food source depletes.

To survive they have to leave
To leave they have to unravel a riddle uttered on a dying psychopath’s breath.

And a husband determined to uncover the truth behind his wives disappearance, unflappable in his search for answers. But to find her he has to go back down a dark evil rabbit hole of his past.

This book had curveball after curveball making it hard to dodge them, so much more is revealed, a spell binding chilling series which has me in a chokehold.

I'm a huge fan of the series ALONE so reading this and the characters fight for survival against all odds had my mind spinning with the realness this played out in my mind.

This series to date has ticked so many boxes its impossible not to love it.
The storyline
The characters
The setting
The love these characters share
The riddles

And yes we're faced with another cliffy with another threat on the horizon keeps my anticipation careening out of control. Part of me needs/wants now but another part never wants this series to end.

I do not have the time to write a proper review. I need to finish this trilogy!!! Enjoyed this one even better than the first.
“When I tell you I love you, it isn’t out of habit or because I think you need to hear it. I say it to remind the world that you’re irreplaceable, and it will suffer my eternal goddamn wrath if anything happens to you.”
Good lord, way to ruin saying simply, “I love you” for every other man.

I'm cracked ya'll. 🤯🤯 Absolutely cracked. My brain needs surgery to repair itself after this masterpiece. I have always loved Pam Godwin and I've been hooked since the first book I read. This trilogy is stretching me and taking me to places I didn't know I would be willing to go. I don't know many other authors that I would follow over such treacherous ground.

But if you trust her like I did... if you tiptoe into the unknown and journey to Alaska's barren wasteland with this little family... you'll go on a trip unlike any other.

I do not know how to review this book. If you read book 1, I hope you're already going to dive in. There isn't anything content wise you can't handle if you survived HOSS from the start. I also think we are well rewarded with answers and secrets revealed throughout this entire book. We aren't kept waiting.

Frankie, Kody, Leo, and yes, even Monty, are on a quest for knowledge. Nothing is just handed to them and they will bleed and suffer for every morsel, but as we start unraveling Denver's twisted knot of devilry... well, you won't be happy with every answer but my mind WAS cracked. It was thrilling and horrible and suspenseful in the best way.

And weaving through it all is a deep core of ruthless devotion and a will to live that is unmatched. Love was planted in this icy hell, but watching it bloom was a sweet reward to offset the pain. I was rabid for each moment of deepening trust and contentment amidst it all.

I know I have said a lot without saying much at all. Like how Monty fits in and how every character is connected by more than just trauma but... honestly, you'll just have to trust Pam. If you're not into the FORZEN FATE trilogy after HOSS, you won't be impressed by this one. It's not going to convince you. But if you were as eager for answers as I was.. you will want to strap in and trust your pilot.

You're in for the ride of your life.

Infinite ♾️ stars, okay 6 on my scale
4 on the spice scale

Some content (but see author site for TWs): MFM, Menage, Dangers of Nature, childhood assault (mentioned in passing), childhood trauma (past), Virgin Hero, why choose, starvation and more

Fuck. This is 100% going to be one of those series that lives rent-free in my brain forever. It has fully consumed me. I’ve thought about nothing else since I started it.

This book was gritty, intense, and stressful in the best way, its all about survival. I swear my heart was palpitating for a solid 50% of it. Not exaggerating.

It’s honestly hard to describe because the story is so captivating, so layered and emotional and dark. It’s complex in a way that makes you hang on every single word. I was just fully immersed, I almost forgot I have a life outside of this audiobook 😭😂

I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I started, and that made the whole thing even better. Like being sucker punched by greatness.

There are so many twists and layers, I think I dropped my jaw at least six times. I’m obsessed. Fully. And also sad because I know I’m almost at the end. Welp. On to book three.

Oh and the spice?? It’s got me feral. These men are actual beasts in the absolute best way. I fear I just wanna be roughed up by a wild man okay???

And the plot thickens…….

I think this will be the VERY FIRST why choose book I’ve read where I actually can’t choose between the guys because they are all so amazing in their own way….
Everyone that knows me knows that I don’t like why choose romances because I ALWAYS actually choose one and I can’t love them all equally. I can do and love throuple but not why choose. I did read literally 2 books that are why choose and I loved, even those I always have a favorite guy. But this time Pam Godwin did the damn thing and she was able to create such amazing alluring sexy guys that it is impossible to pick one.
I am not going to say anything about this book because this trilogy is full of mystery and suspense. I am just going to say that Leo, Kodi and Monty are WOW. And I love Frankie.
I don’t think I ever hated a character so viscerally like I HATE fucking Denver ! His level of evil is the type that will make your soul dark and your heart bleeds ! 😤🤬😡
The story is amazing and I can not wait to start the last book and see what will happen with these jaded beautiful innocent men 😫😫😫😫

Intense, gripping, sexy, feral, and haunting – these are some of the words I can think of to describe Cage of Ice and Echoes. If you thought that this story’s pace might slow down after the cliffhanger ending from Hills of Shivers and Shadows, think again. Pam Godwin’s characters don’t know how to sit still and let life happen to them, no – they dive into their problems headfirst with grit and courage.

“So we’re to spend the winter in darkness?”
“Scared?”
“Fuck you.”

Even though it had been months since I’d read HOSS, it felt like I hadn’t missed any time with the story. The characters felt familiar to me and it felt like no time had passed since reading the last book. Several scenes in this story made me pump my fist – I was SO ready for them and loved the way that they were written. It was very satisfying to read and I highlighted so many sections of text. Let it be known that Kodiak was my favorite man in HOSS, and he's still my favorite man in COIE. He's absolute perfection in my eyes.

“Outside, everything is fatal. Everything dies. But in here, with our eyes locked and our souls touching, we’re eternal.”

It’s difficult for me to divulge my feelings about this story without restraint because spoiling this story for any of my friends is something I refuse to do. Everyone deserves to experience the pure, raw emotion as the story unfolds, and I won’t take that away from anyone.

I will reveal that some questions from Hills of Shivers and Shadows do get answered. I have to commend Pam Godwin’s brilliance in the way that she unraveled some of the mysteries from HOSS. The plot feels like an intricate web that becomes infinitely more complex the more you pay attention to it.

“I didn’t understand what he was trying to tell me. When I asked, he said the point is that lions can’t fly, bears are drunks, and…”
My face crumples.
“The Magic Kingdom will forever be without its queen.”

Cage of Ice and Echoes ends on a cliffhanger, and let it be known that this might be one of my favorite cliffhangers of all time. It’s brutal in the most satisfying way, and I’m literally aching for the final book in the trilogy. I have some really off-the-wall theories on how I think the final book will go, and that cliffhanger – that f***ing cliffhanger - gives me some validation that I might be on the right track. Gah!

"Survival has always been about prioritizing, and this is no different."

Cancel your weekend plans, because the moment you start this book, you won’t want to put it down! I already want to go back to it and read it all over again from the beginning. These characters continue to consume my thoughts.

Thank you, Pam, from the bottom of my heart, for including me in the beta reader team. Beta reading this story has been such an incredible experience, and I’ve loved every moment of the process thus far.

I CANNOT WAIT for book three, like I’m desperate for it. I need it more than air.

4 Flight Manual Stars ⭐️
Spicy Level 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

Please note this is Book 2 in a series that cannot be read as a standalone. As a result, there might be spoilers for Book 1 - so if you do not want to see those, I might advise not reading the rest of the review - I strongly suggest you read the review from Book 1 first and come back here after you have seen the first installment of Frankie's story. Book 1's Review can be found here

This starts almost directly after the events of Book 1, Frankie, Leo and Kody are left reeling, emotionally and physically devastated. They have to reestablish trust after the events at the end of book 1 and need to find a plan for survival as Declan has left them isolated with no power, no food and a silly riddle that hints at escape.

While the previous book was also about survival, Frankie was alone at the start and isolated. Now she’s in this together with Kody and Leo to make it out alive. But their journey is dangerous, desperate, and pushes them all to their mental and physical limits. This is overall a brilliant testament to what we as humans would do to survive when our basic needs are threatened and the lengths to which we would go to ensure that survival. They are constantly thrown into dangerous situations where every breath they take could be their last and their very environment wants to kill them.

While we don't have Wolf's POV, we are given Monty's as a replacement. This adds a layer of complexity and complication as Monty is desperate to find his missing wife and is absolutely determined to succeed no matter the cost. As a result, he has become a shell of his former self, wrought with his guilt and betrayal.

Overall, without giving too much away, this is a whirlwind of secrets that are uncovered and the mysterious connections between everyone slowly piece themselves together. It's dark and twisted and at times extremely difficult to stomach but again ties into the fact that these characters are to the core, able to survive anything!!

The only reason that kept this from being a full 5 stars for me is that the first half of the book is pretty slow, and it only really fully hooked me halfway.

I would also like to thank whatever god was listening - because while my expectation of book 1 was not met in terms of getting some crazy snowed-in-cabin-sharing-sexy-time, this DEFINITELY delivered as the boys need to navigate their closer relationship with Frankie while also learning the boundaries of what they are and aren't comfortable to share.

The Trope Summary (and some triggers that might be tropes):
▶ Multi POV
▶ Reverse Harem
▶ Protective MMC
▶ Trauma Bonding
▶ Voyeurism
▶ Alpha Male
▶ Primal Play
▶ Cheating

Overall I loved the fact that this book gave me anxiety in the best way. That is, I was on the edge of my seat watching these characters live through their experiences and cannot recommend this series enough for anyone who loves a romance mixed with a little psychological thriller. PICK IT UP NOW!

I just finished this and my heart is in a chokehold. This second book in the trilogy is all about survival for our characters and it is a heart stopper from beginning to end. I was sweating through 400 pages! I thought I’d started menopause or something, but no, it was because I felt like I was with these characters trying to survive the Arctic! 🐻‍❄️ 🩵❄️

I was blown away with Book one but this book is on a whole other level. We get answers to some of our questions from HOSS, but those often lead to even more questions. When I say this is some of Pam‘s best work ever, I am not joking. This story will definitely be in my top reads for 2024 if not in my top 10 of all time.

Pam, you are amazing and I’m absolutely honored to get to beta read this book for you! Highlight of my year😘

4.75✨ i loved being back in hoss but it was terrifying all the same.

frankie. leo. kody. the way i love these people is electrifying. i am as in love with these men as ever. and frankie’s braveness and endurance just continues. i love where the story turned and went with this book. it’s still as addicting of a story as ever. everything that happened in this book. the secrets, the lies, the riddles, the betrayals. all of it was so epic. it was as chilling as the arctic circle itself.

reading this was like tip toeing in the barren bush on a hunt. terrifying and exhilarating at the same time. the ruthless, feral, undying devotion leo and kody have for frankie is so unmatched. truly feral in every way. and more than that is their bond as brothers, their silent conversations, communicating with their silence and looks. it was so beautiful. their primal need to protect her is truly everything.

i loved getting more monty pov in this one and really building on that backstory and foundation. it was so good and after that ending, i’m just reeling and dying to know what happens next. pam did it again with an absolute gem. and the comedic relief when needed was truly laugh out loud hilarious. the found family and the moving forward and the ‘together’ is just my favourite. i’m without words thinking about how much i love this story.

“[…] the fear of finality, the hope for forever.”

“This is temporary.”
“Forever awaits.”

“Love that look in your eyes.”
“Which one?”
“The one that promises total annihilation to anything and anyone in your way.”

“We’ll come back to you.”

“I don’t own her. She owns me.”

• why choose / MFM
• forced proximity
• found family
• betrayal
• mystery & suspense
• alpha males

thank you so much pam for the arc!

I devoured this book. If a true page-turner doesn’t earn a five-star rating, then honestly… what does? Pam Godwin delivers a brutal, addictive, and wildly unconventional story that shouldn’t work — but absolutely does. It’s dark, it’s intense, and it’s so twisted that I’m still a little shocked by how much I loved it.

This world is unforgiving, bleak, and beautifully crafted, but what gripped me most were the characters. Leo and Cody… what a duo. Strong, stubborn, loyal to their core — men who love with the same ferocity they live by. Their devotion to each other, and to Frankie, feels elemental. No matter what’s thrown at them (and wow, it’s a lot), they hold their ground. It’s impossible not to fall for them, especially when their loyalty becomes the heartbeat of the story.

And then there’s Wolf. I know the chances are slim, but there’s a part of me still clinging to the faintest hope that he’ll return in book three. Stranger things have happened in dark romance, right? Godwin is not afraid of impossible twists, and until I’m proven wrong, I’m keeping that candle burning.

One of my favourite moments captures the raw, stripped-down heart of the book:

“The concept that a man’s appearance could influence interactions to such a degree is baffling.
Survival depends on strength, resilience, and the depth of one’s character, not the symmetry of one’s face or the cut of their physique.” — Kody

That line is this series. It’s not about pretty heroes. It’s about battered souls, survival forged through brutality, and love that refuses to break, even when everything else does.

This book is dark, unconventional, and morally twisted — but it’s also gripping, emotional, and impossible to walk away from. If you love romance that doesn’t flinch, characters who refuse to quit, and a plot that grabs you by the throat… this is it.

I’m ready to dive straight into book 3.

This series is the BEST THING I’ve read all year. That’s it…that’s the review! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

After the epic cliffhanger the first book ended in, I could not wait to get my hands on this story. I devoured it in a day, despite trying to savor it and pace myself. Turns out, this was not possible!!

Frankie, Kody, and Leo have reached a critical point in their journey for survival and the time has come where they’ve gotta take a chance. Amid their fight for freedom, the love between these characters was still so fierce and I loved seeing the character growth.

And hot damn there is a new POV in this book that was a surprise but I am so freaking here for it! 🙋🏻‍♀️

This was a heart-wrenching, haunting journey that had my heart in my throat the whole time. Every sentence had meaning and poignancy. We got some answers, but so many new questions too.

What to Expect:
🩵 Found family
🩵 Stranded/ survival
🩵 Forced proximity
🩵 ANGST
 Fierce heroine

This is dark romance at its finest, friends, and some of this author’s best work ever! A series absolutely not to be missed!

You know what I love? I love being surprised by stories. When you’re a frequent reader, the surprises become fewer and farther between as you reread tropes and plot points.

But Pam?? Pam always surprises me. And I love her for that. This story is so unique and so angsty and yes, I’m still obsessed.

Plot: ★★★★★
Pacing: ★★★
Angst: ★★★★
Enjoyment: ★★★★★

This is the second book in the Frozen Fate series. You CANNOT start with this book, you must start with book one—Hills of Shivers and Shadows. Read my review of Hills of Shivers and Shadows here.

Okay, now I'm writing this review for my fellow besties who have already read Hills of Shivers and Shadows.

Y'all....

I'm convinced that Pam laces these books with something to make them this good. There's no other author in this subgenre that I read as obsessively as her. I don't read a lot of darker romance, but I'll always read Pam because at the end of the day, I know the characters are in love. There might be a hell of a lot of angst and pain in their journeys, but it's all coming hand-in-hand with their eventual love arc.

So with that being said, let's talk about the propulsive sequel, Cage of Ice and Echoes.

Frankie, Leo, and Kodiak are stranded in the Artic Circle. Their generator is broken. They've just killed their abuser, Denver, and he was the only one who knew how to fly the plane—their one source of escape from the wilderness. They're going to die out here in the dark, frigid cold without any help or way of escape.

Leo and Kodiak are found-family brothers, raised in this unforgiving hellscape with Denver. They're grieving the loss of their fellow brother, Wolf, and are reeling from the fact that for the first time in their lives, they are free of Denver's abusive control. And they're both obsessively in love with Frankie.

Frankie was abducted by Denver at the beginning of this series and brought to the Arctic Circle compound where it became clear to her that something very sinister lay at the heart of the compound. After a traumatic several months spent in Denver's control and orbiting around Denver's three adult "sons," Frankie finds herself entwined forever with these rugged Alaskan men.

But with Wolf and Denver gone, the three remaining survivors have a lot to work out—not the least of which is their deep connections and love for each other. Can Kodiak and Leo share a woman when they both love her obsessively and see each other as brothers? Can Frankie navigate this unique romantic scenario while also dealing with the perils of surviving a starving, freezing winter?

And wait, there's another wrinkle in this already crumpled story: Monty, Frankie's rich husband, isn't out of commission. Denver might have ruined Frankie's love for her husband by showing her a video of Monty cheating on her after she "left him" in her abduction, but that was Monty's one fumbling moment in months of endless pain. He's been a broken man since Frankie "left," and he's never given up. He's running himself and his fortune into the ground in an effort to find his missing wife.

What will he do—and what will Frankie do—when and if he finds her?

So many tangles. So many threads. So much pain, and beauty, and grace. The heart of this survivor's tale is deep in the frozen tundra, and it's time to connect some dots.

Like all of Pam's stories that I've read so far, you come for that unique scenario that propels you to find out "why." And then you stay for the hard-won and emotionally fulfilling romance story arc that awaits you at the finish line.

This sequel is in the middle of a trilogy with cliffhangers on both sides—there is no big closure moment here. It's the middle leg of the journey and it reads like one. A little softer, a little more focused on building the relationships vs. uncovering more secrets. After the pain and stress of the first book, I enjoyed this reprieve as a reader. And now I'm FERAL for that third book.

Thank you to the author for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

3.4 stars- this was better than the first! Easier read and has a happy ending thank goddddd!!! I love Monty!!! Lowkey he may be my fav now. TG he’s there to help them 😭😭😭😭.

This whole trilogy is dark dark dark!!! It honestly felt more like a horror story than a romance. It’s darker than Edge of Darkness ! If you can’t handle really disturbing things, don’t read! Tbh idk if I handled this 😅. I’m a bit traumatized.

This is def addictive! But not a fun and happy time at alllll. Think of every bad thing that could happen to a person.. this is what happens to the MMCs 😭 (besides Monty) their whole lives

Genre: Dark Romance
Type: Book 2 of 3 from Frozen Fate series
POV: First Person - Multiple
Rating:

After months of being stranded in the unforgiving Alaskan tundra, Frankie Novak and the men reached the critical point of their lives. Their only chance of survival was to decode the riddle and find their way out.

The first half of the book started a bit slow for me. But once it got going, I became more invested, especially with the revelations anticipated from the previous book. I was intrigued by a character in book 1, and I’m glad to learn more about him in this one.

We’re more than survivors. We’re a family.

Cage of Ice and Echoes is a story of drive and adaption. It would appeal to readers who enjoy dark survival romance.

My god, this book had my heart going. After the ending of book one, I trust nothing. I'm not even going to pretend to try and figure out where the author is going to take this wild ass ride, I'm just here for it.

SO if you survived book one, you will be ok. Nothing in this one was as gut wrenching (IMO) as the events of book one. This is just straight up a story of survival. Mentally and physically. And its fucking nail biting. Also, there is an introduction to a new POV that I was very hesitant about. Wanted to give a big fat middle finger to.... but by the end of this book I had completely changed my mind, and if things keep going the way they seem to be going, they will probably be my fav character. Which I would NOT have guessed.

This is super vague, but you can't say crap without a spoiler ripple effect. So with squinted eyes, and lots of trepidation I am on to book three.

Genre: Dark Romance
Type: Book 2 of 3 from Frozen Fate series
POV: First Person Multiple

“Three hearts, entwined by circumstance, bound by necessity, and ruled by love, beat as one against every threat we face.”

This is book two of the frozen fate series, the story picks up few months after book one ended. Frankie Novak finds herself still stranded without any hope of escape. Their only chance of survival was no longer an option and now they find their self fighting to survive once again.

The very first page of the book had me ugly crying my eyes out just relieving book one. Once I calmed down the story got a bit slow for me, but as the story progressed and we get a new character’s point of view the story got more and more intriguing. The author did a great job keeping us wanting more and she delivered all the answers at the end.

Cage of Ice and Echoes is a story of survival. It would appeal to readers who enjoy dark survival romance.

This was a F(BR) with CC, War, & Liz.

okay I have been REELING after finishing this book. I don't know if I've ever read a book where its made me think so much. Think about everything we know, everything we don't, and everything we think we know. Book one left us with so many questions and book two answered them all and then gave us new ones(:

Denver was such a FREAK anything is possible at this point??? First of all, the plane. That was glossed over, on purpose I'm sure, but was so significant and rare. WOLF! He's alive???? and if he is how far has Denver seeped his way into his mind and in what way.

Second of all, Sirena. UMMMMM HATE. She is the worst I hate her.

Third, MONTY<3 wow I love him. I love how much of this book we got through his POV. Pam's writing really went off through his character. The way she's written these incredibly complex characters is amazing. I'm obsessed. I love every single one.

and lastly it is a huge dream of mine to find treasure in a false wall/a secret room so this was just so exciting!!!! I cannot wait for book 3

5 Stars!
(ARC provided by author)

“When I tell you I love you, it isn’t out of habit or because I think you need to hear it. I say it to remind the world that you’re irreplaceable, and it will suffer my eternal goddamn wrath if anything happens to you.”

Frankie has spent months in an isolated, off the grid cabin battling evil, and trying to survive the unpredictable, ruthless Alaskan wilderness. She's stranded in the unforgiving Arctic with possessive men who will do anything to protect and provide for her. Circumstance brought them together, but they share an unbreakable bond and commitment that is everything to them. As boundaries evaporate they surrender to their intense feelings and complex chemistry. They find their strength in one another as they seek out answers and solutions. While fighting to escape their dire situation will they finally get the future and happiness they deserve?

Cage of Ice and Echoes (Frozen Fate #2) by Pam Godwin is the second addictive story in this fabulous trilogy. This book is not a standalone and the trilogy must be read in order. I can't get enough of this captivating world and these characters. It's so original and leaves you craving more. It's a forced proximity, found family, age gap, dark romance full of complicated, gorgeous, broody, alluring alpha men, delicious passion, secrets, lies, mystery, suspense, danger, tragedy, angst, emotion and beautiful love. It's a journey about trust, loyalty, hope, dreams, comfort, compassion, unity, belonging, obsession and survival. This series is absolutely phenomenal and I can't wait for more!!! <333

A Cage of Ice and Echoes by Pam Godwin is the second instalment in the Frozen Fate trilogy: a dark why-choose romantic suspense series set in Alaska.

The wilderness is unforgiving. We have to respect its power.

Note: This book cannot be read as a standalone; you must read all books in order. If you haven't read Hills of Shivers and Shadows, don't read any further and perhaps read my review for that book instead.

Hills of Shivers and Shadows left us high on adrenaline, broken-hearted and drowning in questions. Cage of Ice and Echoes follows these characters into the direct and harrowing aftermath where survival is the sole priority. Facing the desolate and unforgiving winter in remote Alaska head-on, Frankie and her men endure hardships and challenges that had my insides twisting with dread. Yet somewhere amidst the distressing darkness, their bonds shimmer like a beacon of hope, offering sinful indulgence and sweet relief through stolen moments.

I’m bound by heartstrings to two souls, brothers in name, family in blood, rivals in love, united in their resolve to protect one thing. Me.

While reading this story, my mind pulsed to the beat of my racing heart with two main questions: Will they all make it out alive? Will they uncover the truth of their trauma?

Even though I was mentally prepared for some of the revelations in this story, they still sunk to the bottom of my stomach like a stone. The darkness in this book is pervasive and disturbing, describing some of the worst atrocities and suffering imaginable, but not without purpose and respect for these characters' individual journeys of healing and resilience.

The bad parts had to happen so we could find our way here, to each other, to help us appreciate and treasure our hard-won love.

Pam Godwin's words lure me like a siren's song and I would follow her down any literary path. This series is a prime example of her striking prose and ability to express raw human emotion in such a beautiful, impactful and unique way. This lends so well to a why-choose romance where there are multiple players and incredibly intricate dynamics between them.

This instalment is shorter than the first, but makes great strides in terms of the overarching plot. It's a fast-paced, high-stress and emotional journey that had me in its grip. While we get some answers, new questions arise in the conclusion as we are met with another cliffhanger; I'm so ready for Heart of Frost and Scars and seriously relieved that Pam chose to release this whole trilogy in such a short time. I don't think I could stand waiting much longer between books!!

I would recommend this series to readers who love dark romance, complicated relationship dynamics, angst and trauma, inky black circumstances, survival stories, fierce female characters, indulgent spicy scenes, and suspenseful, twisted-up plots!

I'm so grateful to Pam Godwin for generously providing this arc in exchange for my honest review.

After the events and ending of the first book, I was so eager to get my hands on Cage of Ice and Echoes to find out what happens next! This book was better than the first. I picked it up, and didn't put it down until I was finished. Kids? What kids? (just kidding... thanks to the hubby for picking up the reins so I could indulge in my Arctic adventure)

It was not what I was expecting, but everything I needed... and yet I still have questions?!

It's difficult to explain anything without leaving spoilers. One of the things I love the absolute most is

The danger they face, the riddles, the love they share, the hope they have, and eagerness to persevere was well written, and I couldn't stop reading. Frankie is the feistiest, loyal, and loving FMC. I just love her. And Leo and Kody.... OH, ALSO...

Ok ok ok, I'm done. Just read the first one, then grab this and try to patiently wait for the third book.

My goodness… where to start?! I’m still NOT OK from the first book… and I went into this one wondering how in the world it could hold up to its mind-blowingly intense predecessor. After making it through the tumultuous Hills of Shivers & Shadows, I was insanely invested in these characters. How can you not be?! Their story is so heartbreakingly beautiful and torturously painful all at the same time. 💔😭

Slower to start, the first half of this story really detailed the agonizing perseverance it takes to survive in the Arctic tundra. With a shortage of food and supplies, can love and pure stubbornness to survive be enough? By about 2/3 in, the action was so intense I literally could not put this book down and finished the rest in one sitting. The tension was so palpable and multiple times I had to remind myself to breathe. 😮‍💨 Earth shattering revelations came to light threatening to question everything our beloved characters thought they knew.

If I though Hills of Shivers and Shadows was captivating, it has nothing on this book.

First of all, how stunning is the cover? After Hills of Shivers and Shadows, I learned my lesson. The covers for this trilogy are riddled with hints. And connecting the cover with the story was very much an exciting experience. The "oh! So that's what this and that is there" was very satisfying.

We’ve been reduced to half-starved, physically weak, brutally exposed, feral creatures in survival mode. Impossible to hide from one another when we’re like this.

Cage of Ice end Echoes picks up after the dramatic events that unfolded at the end of Hills of Shivers and Shadows and words fail me as I try to explain the myriad of emotions I felt while reading this book.
There was curiosity, what would our characters do to survive the unforgiving winter. How far would they go to ensure that they didn't die of starvation?

Through the sheets of snow, a nightmare takes shape.

I am happy to inform that Pam delivered a fast paced piece that not only kept me on my toes but also answered a lot of the questions we had at the end of book 1.
Our characters resilience and need to survive was a marvel to read and absorb. Few would keep fighting faced with these conditions.

Watching their bond and their love bloom and stand the test of life and death was a beautiful thing to read.

The bad parts had to happen so we could find our way here, to each other, to help us appreciate and treasure our hard-won love.

I loved how the story unfolded, going back and forth between the need to survive the wilderness while looking for a clue to the riddle whispered by a dying man and a husband search for his wife while digging the secrets from his past.

I don't want to elaborate more on this review because I feel like the littlest bit of information I provide will be a spoiler hence why I mainly described my emotions.

By the time I got to the end, my sense of safety led me to believe that things were finally starting to look up but I should have expected the cliffhanger. My mind is riddled with so many theories and possibilities. I have more questions than I previously had and August just seem so far.

Thank you Pam Godwin for opportunity to read this early copy in exchange for an honest review.
