As the final round in The Queen Trials begins, Clio has run out of people to trust. What happens when the field is narrowed to the final six princesses who will become queens?
Penelope Wright spent a quarter of her life on the east coast and the rest in Washington state. She worked her way through college in restaurants, hospitals, factories, and everything in between, finally graduating summa cum laude from the University of Washington after an absurdly long time. She loves both traditions and new experiences, and will try anything once, except skydiving, which is a hard no. She lives north of Seattle with her husband and two amazing teenagers.
Only because I think this book could have used another run-through with an editor. There were some minor inconsistencies that made me mad, but other than that this is one of my favorites in the series. I also like that it drew from information revealed at the beginning of the first book, so there was an aspect of nostalgia when I read it and was like "Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that moment or that she could do that thing."
This is my absolute FAVORITE of this series so far! I”ve been in love with this series from the very start and Clio is one of my all time fave FMCs! The story builds from right where we left off in All That Glitters. SO MANY things are starting to come together and although this is the longest book so far, I flew through it the fastest because I COULD NOT STOP READING! I just had to know what happened next. And the ending? PERFECTLY EXECUTED! I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the 8th and final book. I am so excited to see what the future holds for my girl!
This story continues to entertain, which given that it is Book 7 of the series, is not easy to do. The characters keep developing and while the story progresses it doesn't lose it's purpose. I thought the last book was the final but the author isn't done yet as an eighth book is due out next July.
4.5 rounded up to 5. I didn't enjoy this book quite as much as the previous one but that was largely due to being frustrated with the judges' ratings for Clio. That said, I get that on book 7, an author would be harder pressed to find ways to keep the series moving and I am thankful she keeps it interesting and engaging. All in all, still loved this book and the series!
