Howard learns a valuable lesson about friendship in this book in the series. He always wants his own way and picks a fight when someone else is right. His grandmother helps him see how he would feel if someone did these things to him. He apologizes and practices to do better.
This book is about a bunny named Howard who doesn't get invited to a friends birthday party. He is really sad and wonders why he didn't get invited. Then he starts to think of all the times he has been mean. His grandma tells him he has to practice and learn how to be nice. He goes to the birthday party and asks his friends to forgive him. I have mixed feelings about this book. I don't think it is very realistic because children won't necessarily point out all the mean things they do themselves. Someone else will have to do that and maybe this book will help. I like how he learns his lessons, and then at the end he apologizes for his mistakes. I think this book could be used in younger classrooms. There are many great school and life lessons in this book and even if your class is not having problems with the things in this book, it is still good to know. It also teaches forgiveness. I think kids would also enjoy all the different animals. You could ask your class if they can think of some ways to be nice as well.
I liked how grandma was like Yeah kid, you do kind of suck. She was right not to invite you. However, "everyone gets to be right" is a bizarre and misleading way to phrase 'Don't be a dick when you disagree with someone'
Also this book has a hell of a misleading cover. That spaceship? It appears on exactly one page as a metaphor. I would feel incredibly cheated if I picked this out as a child expecting cool space antics and got this book instead.
This book is amazing because It teaches us a lesson and how to be kind and shows the world we can all get along with each other. I also like this book because it is about a picnic party and all the characters are animals.
This book has a good message, although it is written pretty simply. It would perhaps be good as an introduction to feelings and manners or to reinforce those things that are already learned.
