I've been in love with Sebastian Kemp since the second grade.
Yes, the Sebastian Kemp.
World famous hockey player. International playboy. Gorgeous heartthrob.
I know, right? Get in line.
I've been best friends with his younger sister since grade two, but I was convinced that he forgot I was alive.
That's why I was so surprised when I turned on the news and saw my name and face all over it, saying that we were engaged.
He shows up out of nowhere.
Eight years since I last saw him and somehow looking even hotter.
He says that he needs me to pretend to be his fiancée.
Just for one night.
What a tease.
It's like finally getting your favorite dessert, but you only get a small bite.
Still, any taste of Sebastian is better than nothing.
I'll take a bite out of him any time.
By the end of the night, my lifelong crush looks like he wants to devour me.
But is it real or part of the charade?
I have no pucking idea.

Edit: I read on Jen's review that Olivia T Turner changed some details that upset us safe readers. I did not read the new version of the book, only the parts on Jen's comments and the hero says, "New city, new team, new girl"...NEW GIRL??? It should be "my only girl", they new each other since they were kids. She was in 2nd grade and he two years older, so there is still ambiguity and seems experienced, so my review will remain the same until I read the new version someday. I fully agree with Jen, whom I trust.
THIS part makes me now think she is his one and only, (quote I copied from Jen's review)“I don’t know what you heard about me, Alina,” I say, pulling my mouth from hers. “But the rumors aren’t true. I’ve never been with any actresses. I’ve never been with anyone. I drank and got into fights, but I never wanted any other woman. You’ve always been the one for me.” When he says, "I've never been with anyone", makes me think he never was with a woman, but the "new girl" comment makes me confused. I don't know. Maybe I will read the new version to see for myself someday soon. The quote that he has never been with anyone perked me up!
I am glad that Olivia T Turner read our comments and did a rewrite. Thank you Miss Turner for hearing us, that is a rare thing and it is very much heartwarming and deeply appreciated. I am hoping in future there will be no players, and no cheating. Thank you again for hearing us Olivia, truly. I will keep reading Olivia's books in future, she really did a wonderful thing for us. I will reread the book for myself, and review it once I do. I will keep reading her books, she did give us her word they will be safe and free of cheating, so I feel comfortable, happy and excited to read her future releases!
Close edit.

1 edition book review BEFORE the rewrite that I haven't read yet. These are my impressions and review of the book when it first came out, NOT the rewrite. At the end I did write to no longer trust OTT, but her rewriting the book made me feel like I can trust Olivia again and that she will be mindful of keeping her books safe again. I am keeping my first review below as is, and when I reread the rewrite one day, I will write a second review.
February 26th, 2024 Review:
ZERO stars This is the worst book from Olivia T Turner, and I cannot believe her! What the fuck Olivia?
NOT SAFE!!
CHEATING!! because the hero and heroine met 8 years ago, and he had feelings for her then even had a crush on her when he first saw her, and she is madly in love with him when she first saw him. She saved herself for him, while he left, and for 8 years stuck his dick in all the cunts he could find! Last time he saw her was at her high school graduation. This is his excuse for not going after her before he left,
quote,
“I
always thought you were marriage material. You’re the only girl I’ve
ever met who I could see as my wife.”
“I never hated you, Alina. I… was
scared of you.”
“Scared of me?”
“Scared that you would be the one and I would screw it up.”
“I wanted to tell you, Alina,” he says as he reaches out and
touches my arm. Goosebumps slide along my skin. “But I—”
end quote,
But I what???? Would rather leave and fuck a bunch of women? I would have told him to fuck off, and to tell the world that I have more self respect than to be with a man slut, and find myself a real man!
The only reason he got with her is because he saw her as a knockout, and fuckable.
FUCK THIS BOOK! FUCK THIS HERO!
manwhore hero, says he was always in love with the heroine but didn't know it.
virgin heroine, spineless, desperate and disappointing.
quote,
"I waited for you,” she says as she looks up at me with those big
beautiful hazel eyes, quick little breaths coming out of her wet lips.
Her words hit me hard. My knees nearly buckle.
“You’re a… virgin?”
She nods her head as she gazes into my eyes. “I only wanted
you.”
She saved herself for him, and he went on an 8 year long fucking spree.
HEA written I don't believe in. 3 epilogues. None of it believable.
You know when you read the synopsis in a book written by an author you read for a long time and trust to be safe. I read the playboy part and my first thought was, "No, this is Olivia T Turner, this is a misdirect, the hero probably let people think he has a playboy reputation but remained celibate." And then you read the book, fully trusting your beloved author that you are in safe hands and then....*stab in the back*. The hero IS a playboy, FUCKED his way around the world, while the heroine is pining and in love with this disease riddled fuck stick. Worst of all, he says that he always had feelings for her!
Quote,
“You’re going to
pretend that you’re married to Alina while you go around and screw
any girl in a skirt behind her back?”
“What?” I snap. “No!”
I don’t want anyone but her. Not anymore.
She’s always been the one for me, but I was too stupid to realize
it. I was too focused on hockey and getting to the highest level. I
failed to see the treasure that was right in front of me. I took her for
granted. I missed out on years."
I HATED that. I HATED THAT SOOOO MUCH! It made my blood boil.
Quote,
"I’m fully realizing that Alina Hoover is the woman for me.
I want to marry her, buy a mansion, and fill it with babies. I want
to spend the rest of my life with that incredible woman."
"That’s what I’ve wanted all along, I was just too stupid to realize
it. I didn’t realize what I was running from. My days of debauchery
are over. My days of being a respectable man Alina can be proud of
have begun."
*cough cough*BULLSHIT! If you loved her, or at least had feelings for her, YOU WOULD HAVE KEPT YOUR DICK IN YOUR PANTS!!!
The worst thing, is when the only man you love, who says feels the same since you met, leaves and fucks women for YEARS. It makes me sick, and she settles for that! How is this romantic? Why couldn't he have saved himself for her like she did for him? Why couldn't it have been the classic, misunderstanding, that all these articles are just rumors, that he never touched a woman since they met, because he always knew she was the one. *huffing in frustration*
Ok, I am done. I AM DONE! I am going to scrub my brain to wash out the dumpster juice, shit stain that is this book and reread old favorite books that have heroes who are not cheating players!
I will give the series a chance because the next book seems to be a about a brutish giant hero who turns into a cinnamon roll for his sunshine heroine (giant cinnamon roll heroes are my favorite and I hope Olivia doesn't fuck his character up like she did this one. They seem to have no past, so no risk of cheating (hopefully), and there is no sign he is a player (again, hopefully). For that I am praying we get the Olivia T Turner we used to love, but it I will never trust her books to be safe from now on. I am left seething mad, shocked and hurt.
DO NOT READ THIS BOOK! DO NOT BLINDLY BUY OLIVIA T TURNER BOOKS ANYMORE! SHE IS NO LONGER A SAFE AUTHOR WE CAN TRUST!

Thanks to Ms. Turner for updating the book. She removed any reminder that Sebastian (28) had slept around since he last saw Alina (26) eight years ago.

However, I'm still not going to rate it because I feel like there's still no clarity about Sebastian and how he spent those years. And sometimes reading between the lines I still get the notion that he had been with other people and these vague quotes didn't make it any better and only confused my head.

============================

"Everyone thinks they know me so well, including my sister. They don’t know a damn thing. I’m not the guy the media portrays. Not at all. I don’t want anyone but her." ---> He didn't explain this thought in this chapter

"This is where I belong. I can sense it. I want a new start. New city. New team. New girl." ---> Shouldn't it be MY girl?

“My partying days are over,” Sebastian says in a firm tone. “I promise you that.” ---> What were involved in this?

"I want it all. Marriage, kids, a house full of love to come home to. That’s what I’ve wanted all along, I was just too stupid to realize it. I didn’t realize what I was running from." ---> Running how?

“I don’t know what you heard about me, Alina,” I say, pulling my mouth from hers. “But the rumors aren’t true. I’ve never been with any actresses. I’ve never been with anyone. I drank and got into fights, but I never wanted any other woman. You’ve always been the one for me.” ---> Is he a virgin or not?

"Her p*ssy was delicious, but what I really want is to sink deep into it. I want to defile her with my raw c*ck and take her virginity forever." ---> Shouldn't it be OURS?

============================

Ms. Turner did update the book, but reading the scene where they did the deed, it only became more unclear. The way he talked, it seemed like he had an experience. But they've known each other since she was in second grade, and he's only two years older than her. So does that mean that even though he had a childhood crush on her and basically grew up with her because she's also his sister's best friend, he still slept with other girls?

Like I said, it was vague, and I really, really dislike it when everything isn't clearly defined. Sorry, I'm a safe reader, and I need to know these things.

Anyway, I'm still relieved that the author considered all the initial reviews and changed some aspect of the story. I'll still be looking forward to reading the books in this series.

Review on the first version:

Another annoying case of a heroine who saved herself for a guy who slept around for the last eight years even though he's been "in love" with her. Wth is this book, Ms. Turner?! 😭🤢💔

Please disregard the synopsis of this book as it is NOT SAFE!

And that is so disappointing coming from Olivia T Turner. For those who like to read safe books where there are no others after meeting, please skip this one.

For those who like to read heroine with a backbone and self preservation, please skip this one.

I don’t know why my stomach turned when I started this but after the first chapter, I’d already had a bad feeling about it and had to stop reading after the second chapter. I read another review that confirmed that this book is another cliche of the best friends manwhore older brother and the dimwit virgin who saves herself for him. Her inner monologue acknowledges her unrequited love to my actual disgust.

I lowkey feel bad because I know Olivia is an author that a lot of readers turn to because they trust that she wouldn’t write something like this. That’s not to be in this instance.

Disappointed but not surprised I guess.

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Since when does Olivia write manwhores who treat the h like one in a long line of many?!?!?

And childhood friends/loves??? Oh my god that’s fucking worse 😳 So Alina’s been in love with Sebastian since she was 6-7 and as they grow up had to be TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY alone while he got to sample never ending pussy?

Also WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND IS WAITING FOR A MANWHORE UNTIL THEY’RE 26? MS GIRL. 🙄

The way he talks about women like they’re a human fleshlight for him to enjoy while Alina is a pristine doll for him to pick up and use when he’s ready to stop fucking hundreds of OW.

“New city, new girl” my asshole dude.Go fuck yourself with a cheese grater.

-100/5 if I could.

Closet Love

Sebastian Kemp's agent, Lydia, really steps in it when she takes an idea too far. It's kind of comical but also painful. Poor Alina Hoover... she's an innocent victim in all this. LOL!

“I always thought you were marriage material. You’re the only girl I’ve ever met who I could see as my wife.”
-- Sebastian Kemp ... ... **swoon** 😍

There are some holes in this incredibly over-the-top quick read, but I was completely entertained anyway. I love that they had secret crushes on each other for years. Even better is Sebastian's mom's reaction to the news. Love it!

One of the things I love most are the multiple epilogues that OTT includes in the majority of her books. They are often the source of some sweet as well as steamy moments. This book included. 🥰🐶🔥❤️🥳👏

H & h = mid- to late 20s

3 smut-scale stars!

I'm not entirely sure where all the 1-stars came from. The hero was a manwhore but changed his tune.

“I’m sorry it took so long to realize my girl was in front of me all along.”

I thought for how short the story was, it was a pretty decent and smutty read to pass some time.

"I want to marry her, buy a mansion, and fill it with babies. I want to spend the rest of my life with that incredible woman. And I want it to start tonight."

2.5 ⭐️

Uffff, I think this one is I liked the least from everything I've read by this author.

It just didn't make sense. He always felt she's the one, but you know, didn't contact her for 8 years!?? Why?

I didn't feel the chemistry between them. No spark, no nothing, just a lot of telling.

Not even the lovely epilogues this author writes could save this one for me. 🥹

It looks like this one is double V, but it's forced. It doesn't make sense for him, at least. And maybe not even for her. Seriously, she was so weak. She basically had a crush on him for yeaaars, but they didn't talk for 8 years!! Who does that? Especially in their scenario, since she's still bff with his sister.

Anyway, this was a miss for me but I'll keep reading this author's work, because usually I enjoy her books ❤️.

What to expect
- fake engagement, for like 5 minutes 😉
- small age gap, she's 26 and he's 28, by my calculations
- they knew each other since they were kids, best friend's brother
- some spice
- HEA
- 3 cute epilogues; best part actually 👍

To be clear - I thought Sniper meant like - shooting sniper. Not hockey.

Anyway - This book was really confusing. it's a fake fiancé, lost high school crush, stupid book. There were times when he sounded like a whore, but then he said he hadn't been with anyone because he loved her. The sex was soooooo lame. I'd skip this - especially if you're looking for good smut. There's nothing smutty in this.

Reminder - 1-star is reserved for books that I want to murder after reading them. I didn't want to murder this book so it gets a 2.

I know the author changed the original and I am glad I never read it because it was not safe as I would like with his manwhoring ways.

What bugged me about this one was a lot of the inconsistencies with the way the story was told. He was or wasn't with anyone? We don't get a full answer.

It just didn't work for me, which is shocking because I genuinely like the other books Olivia has written.

I DNF’ed this book at 75% and it was very short but the sex scene totally grossed me out to the point I was uncomfortable.

OK, brief outline. The male protagonist is a pro hockey player, leading scorer for his team. He enters talks to play for a last place team that is undergoing major improvements. He completes changes his attitude with a blink of an eye. But because he has a terrible reputation off the ice the owner wants him to have a steady girlfriend. When pushed for the name of his supposed girlfriend, he gives the name of his younger sisters best friend he hasn’t seen in 8 years. Turns out he’s secretly been in love with her for years. Yet he’s been a complete player and not just hockey for years.

I could go on and on about how repulsive I found this book. The author clearly doesn’t know the game of hockey and though very short, it’s full of contradictions. One of the worst issues is the teams play to win the Stoney Cup. Yep, you read that right. Give me an f’ing break.

The weird thing is I read another book in the series and was utterly charming. But this one I had the opposite reaction. I can’t recommend this book and because of my strong negative reaction to this book I don’t think I’ll try another one.

What an amazing start to what’s sure to be a sexy series about the men of the San Antonio Hyenas as they skate their way from the bottom to the top of the hockey league.

This first book is about Sebastian Kemp, so accurate with a puck that they call him The Sniper. The new owner of the Hyenas is putting together a squad of exceptional players and Sebastian is on his list — but only if Sebastian can prove he’s no longer the wild man who keeps the tabloids in business with his bad behavior. Enter a fake fiancée: his sister’s best friend Alina. Alina Hoover has loved Sebastian since she was 7 and he was 9, but he always avoided her. She thought he hated her, and she missed all the glances he sent her way.

Sebastian asks her to go along with the charade so he can join the Hyenas, but quickly realizes that she’s been the one this whole time and he’s just taken her for granted. Now he has to confess and hope Alina wants their engagement to be real as much as he does.

I loved these two! Their chemistry was crackling and their closet rendezvous was scorching. Sebastian was such a sweetheart and head over heels for Alina. I liked that they didn’t spend a ton of time on “Is it real? Is it fake?” Sebastian laid his heart at her feet and there was no third-act breakup, just two adults discussing their past, present and future. (The epilogues went way, way into the future!)

I can’t wait to read the next book and see how bubbly Jane tames rough and tumble Tucker.

I received a free copy of this book and have chosen to leave a review.

Seb & Alina story

It was the usual Olivia Turner story, however the MMC wasn’t as OTT/J/P as usual so that a bit different. Plus only a 2 year age age which was nice.

Steam-1.5/3 breeding kink but really detailed. Only one big scene. Double V

I was actually surprised about how this could have been more OTT. It was very tame and surprising from this author. Even the spice was very tame. We spent more time hearing about her work and his hockey contract than anything. Would have liked to see more of the relationship building.

I have enjoyed this book and the characters in it. Highly recommend it. And I have always loved the epilogue ending her stories. I love knowing how their lives played out, the number of children, and so on. It makes me feel good to know that some couples can achieve their HEAs even if some of us can't. And they usually bring a tear to my eyes.

I love Alina! She acts strong and confident, but inside has her insecurities. Both Sebastian and Alina have some feelings for each other. Alina has thought that Sebastian hated her, when in reality, he believes that he is in love with her and is working to get her to love him. Sebastian is a professional hockey player and is being recruited by the San Antonio Hyenas - the worst team in the league. After he hears the others that are playing on the team, he is all in. They are worried about his image though. From out of nowhere, his agent throws out that he has a girlfriend. When Sebastian talks, he somehow ups the ante to being engaged!
Now, he has a lot of explaining to do to Alina and his family because not only is she the woman for him but she is his sister’s best friend! His sister is afraid that he’ll end up hurting Alina so she voices her threats to him.
I love the dual POV, so I always knew what Alina and Sebastian were thinking and their raw reactions.
I love OTT, the author and just simply love her writing style. I have enjoyed reading her books for a while now and I have never been disappointed!.

This is a classic he needed a fiance to be able o move forward in his career and clean up his rep. She was his sisters BFF who had been crushing on him forever.

How the "fake dating" starts is hilarious and very entertaining. This book is full of steaminess, chemistry, humor and a HEA.

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.

There are two versions of this book, the 1st had Sebastian being a manwhore, the author did a slight rewrite and changed him to a virgin. I read the rewritten version where he always loved Alina, since they were kids. But if that’s true why did he never reach out to her after he left to play hockey? It’s been 8 years since they have had any contact and they never had any meaningful conversation or interactions when they were younger. So how does she know she loves adult Sebastian? How can he love someone he doesn’t even know?
I do believe that when he sees Alina for the first time as a grown up he is instantly in lust with her. And Alina has always loved him so she’s thrilled that she gets to play his fake fiancé and gets to kiss him.

Sebastian needs a fake fiancé so he appears stable to the Hyenas new hockey team owner who wants to hire him. He has a bad boy rep, too much drinking, too many fights, and too many women. But he thinks that’s what the tabloids say, they don’t really know him, he’s not all those things. While meeting with the team owner his agent scrambles and says he has a girlfriend and they are engaged so he is stable and a good fit for his team. When the owner asks his fiancé name he replies, Alina Hoover, his sister’s best friend. You learn later he said her name because he has always seen her as a person who would be a wife, more specifically his wife. She immediately agrees to play the part and attend a party in San Antonio so he can sign his contract.

They get all dolled up, which of course makes him even more in lust with her, and head to San Antonio to attend the big team party. Because Alina really does love him and wants the best for him she plays the part of doting fiancé perfectly. She charming and funny and wins everyone who meets her over, including the new owner. He believes they are in love with each other. He offers a very lucrative contract to Sebastian and he signs on to be their star player.
Their 1st time together is in the owner’s closet. Weird right? Alina is a closet designer and she’s been tasked by her boss to find new markets for their business, so she loves looking at people’s closets.
She’s a virgin, tells him she was saving herself for him, this is where he tells her there has been no other women, it’s always been her.
Epilogues at two months with him playing for the Hyenas and winning games, she starts an office for the closet company in town and is pregnant, ten years later with four kids and her owning the closet company branch in San Antonio. And, 40 years later with their whole family, including 12 grandchildren visiting the Hockey Hall of Fame where his jersey and other gear is displayed.

As far as hockey books go it's.. something. I guess Olivia wanted to get in on the sports books by making another fuck boi hockey player suddenly remember the girl of his childhood dreams that he's always loved... yet he had no problems sinking his cock into other women for the 8 years they hadn't seen each other, let alone even remember her. And yet here is Alina, poor stuck Alina with a shit job, a boss who doesn't respect her, and of course she's never moved on from her childhood love; the man of her dreams - Sebastian. Of course she's too sweet to tell him to fuck right off after he basically announces to everyone that they are engaged before even talking to her and asking her if it's ok or... well saying anything to her at all before hand. Yeah, totally buying how she's the girl he always loved, etc... were you thinking about her when fucking other women, Sebastian? I honestly hate when writers do this, pull this trope but the guy was never true to his heart. If you really loved someone you would've at least tried years ago to be with them instead of fucking your way through women. It brings down the story and doesn't make it believable in the least and the fact that she's fine with all this because he's finally paying attention to her makes my heart hurt for her.

And let's just touch briefly on that "love" Sebastian has for her. Even after he finds out that she's a virgin he doesn't even bat an eyelash at fucking her in his new boss' closet. Yup, real special first time there... treat the woman you love like a cheap whore and deflower her in a closet.

I won't even start on the fact that she sucks him off even knowing his track record.. like really? Not even gonna have him tested first? Ah right... STDs are just as fictional as this book apparently.... Nope, all safe here. 🙄 Let's not talk about the whole raw doggin either... pregnancy is clearly the point, who cares if she's ready.

Why, WHY do all these virgins wear white underwear?? For fuck sake, she's not 8! I hate that writers think white is pure and sells even more of this "she's a virgin" look... and now I'm remembering why I stopped reading Olivia's books a while back because everything is so focused on virginity that I just lost interest. I don't mind that the FMC is a virgin, don't get me wrong but I prefer them both to be, and it not to be the only focus of the book.
