Great Read
This book reminded me of when I was young growing up or visiting family in Greenwood, Mississippi, Killeen, Texas, Star City, Arkansas, Lafayette, Louisiana, etc. Hearing the whispering and gossip surrounding certain families. Towns so small you can't helped but to know everybody business whether it was true or false. Two families and three generations of men and women who were bound together by infatuation, lust, lies, betrayal, and supposedly hexes. Before I get started on the background of the two families. I believe Jada returned home after five years to tell Akeem she had gotten pregnant and had his baby. The Grays Men and Women against the Kent women. Jada Kent coming back to town definitely stirred up some gossip and knew she was going to end up in the gossip section of the newspaper. It also took brothers Marlon and Akeem Gray by surprise being both were in love with Jada Kent before she took off five years prior. Breaking Marlon heart by not accepting his proposal and leaving Akeem hurt as well. It seems Marlon and Akeem father Ian and Uncle Evan Gray dealt with the same attraction and problems with Jada mother Denise Kent. The Gray men have had an attraction to the Kent women for over three decades and through three generations. However none of the men have married a Kent woman since any of the women couldn't choose between brother's. I have a feeling that is going to change. Seth Gray is the only one out of the Gray men who isn't caught up or hung up on anybody from the Kent family. He is messy though. Jennifer can tell since Jada is back that Marlon still have feelings for her and Jennifer insecurities are showing. Marlon is a good guy. Jada is actually more of his brother Akeem speed. Wild, free spirited, like to party. I believe Jada left all those years ago because she slept with Akeem knowing if that got out. Hell would've broken loose but I also feel like it is more to the story that Akeem and Jada are hinding. Akeem is trying to play it off but his feelings for Jada are still there. Celeste Gray feel some type of way about Jada being back. She knew the chaos it caused for both of her sons years ago. She also had to deal with the drama from her husband Ian Gray being entangled with a Kent woman. Denise Kent to be exact. Lynn having the gossip newspaper and steady trying to dig up dirt on the Gray and Kent continuous saga had Celeste Gray showing her City girl side. Now the tables have turned. Celeste have some gossip on Lynn. Lynn should've known that Celeste is a beast when it comes to her family. Her husband is the Mayor and she refuse to allow Lynn to drag her family. The matriarch of the Gray family. Mama Gray definitely knows the affect the Kent women had and have on the Gray men. She dealt with it as well once upon of time. Seth messy ass couldn't help but kick some shyt off at breakfast. Jennifer should've kept her mouth shut. Addressing Jada about staying away from Marlon was unnecessary. It just might push Marlon to Jada if Jennifer don't stop. I have a feeling Tara like Akeem even know the history between him and her cousin Jada. Regina was wrong showing up at Mama Gray house uninvited interrupting their breakfast trying to confront Akeem about the picture in the gossip section of the newspaper. Her and Akeem aren't in a relationship. It was very disrespectful. The way this ended. I see some jaw dropping secrets being revealed next.
