York, February, 1275. When Cordwainer falls ill after being summoned to the deaths of a man and his children, twelve-year-old Hugh decides he must investigate the murders himself. He knows he risks coming face to face with a killer, but is it possible that the killer is possessed by a demon?
A wonderful continuation of the Cormwainer series. Young Hugh takes on the investigstion and rises to the challenge. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys medieval mysteries.
Wait, what happened to Albreda??? Why did no one care to find out what happened the woman or baby?!!
This "review" contains a Spoiler or two...!!! I mean, come on!!! Why did Stephan not see to the poor woman or her child??? The woman across the street was not the best caregiver to leave her with...uh oh Spoiler...I am just really mad ...is it the author's intention, the period where so many women were destitute, left alone by death or misadventures?, is it that men of the period only cared about themselves and each otger, WHAT? I am sooo angry. Those of us who read these, mostly, very Interesting tales, and very moving tales need to know what happens to all the characters involved! I feel having purchased all these books that I Deserve to know the outcome for the surviving victims...especially when they are involved from the very beginning of the! Story! This book was outstanding until the very end. Then, well...what happened?
I love the characters in Joyes's books .Matthew is a miserable old man but I love him. With history entwined in her stories it gives one an idea of how they lived, their life style, food they ate etc I hope " Possession " is not her last of Matthew Cordwainer, I have an awful feeling it is though.
Another wonderful story in the series. It was great having young Hugh take the lead as a result of Cordwainer’s serious illness. He’s a bright boy who put what he’d learned to good use.
