The Goddess is rising. I’m stuck in a race against time as I try to tie up loose ends. The Delegates and a war. The labs and the missing. Forgiveness and betrayals. None of this will mean anything if she takes over. How can I bond with any of them with this hanging over my head? How do I keep them safe? How do I deny them?
Vale tutto quello che ho detto nella recensione del libro precedente, purtroppo non riesco a mollare questa serie, quindi mi appresto a leggere l'ultimo delirante libro.
2⭐️ It’s ok. A lot of the time the writing is chaos, and I miss what is happening because it’s written like a conscious stream of thoughts. Most of the MMCs are unlikable. We finally know a little about a few of them but Ben is still the only choice. We have 6 MMCs she’s only slept with 2 of them and we have only one more book. I have my doubts that the story has any hope of wrapping up smoothly. The spice level is low because there is little to no intimacy, it’s fucking as a body necessity rather than any expression of emotion. The FMC is so broken I can’t see her getting a HEA or healing at all from her trauma.
This series really ran out of steam and I won’t be continuing for at least the next while.
Book 1 was interesting and new but now everything has been too dragged out.
This is book 5 and this girl still hasn’t found the missing people or investigated much. Girl what!
Also the relationships just feel forced on the FMC now whether she is interested or not. I really liked Mitri in the earlier books and feel like they have a genuine connection but then you have Aodhan who wanted to lock her up and now if kissing her?!?!?
I enjoy the story line arc over all but the idea that someone who was traumatized and abused as a child going straight into tying her up and spanking her with a belt mKes no sense. It shows that the author has no real knowledge of triggers. Of someone is tied down to be hurt over and over again it would be a struggle to ever be tied even for sex.
I liked the book overall. Ben's nightmary-ness was ramped up in here and it was a great contrast to how sweet he was with Beatrice all the time. Aodhan fucked up badly and his apology wasn't up to par, I think Bea should be more mad/disappointed in him and hold a grudge for a little while, not told him that it was fine. Kimi going away was a bit weird, he was such a lovable psycho that the team without him felt a bit sad and boring at times. I quite liked Mike, he was the most relatable character, a normal human that found himself with Others he was always so fascinated by, his enthusiasm was so cute and the reactions to all the fuckery surrounding him felt believable. I think I would be losing it too ;) Now, I had a huge issue with Mitri in here. I liked the guy, yeah, he was a psychopath, murdering and torturing people without hesitation, but he cared about Beatrice. He was angry whenever she was hurt, even her past filled with pain made him rage-y, and wanted to keep her safe. So, when The relationships with Aodhan, Mal and King made me feel a little icky, Beatrice didn't really wanted to bond with any of them, yeah, she found them hot, but it still felt like she was forced to add them to her harem. I thought that in this one the relationship with Aodhan would grow more, but there wasn't much progress made. I'm more wary now, she doesn't have stable relationships with most of her harem and there is only one book left. I have no clue how it could feel not rushed ;) and there were at least two interesting males introduced in this one, so it could get even more weird and rushed in the last one. Ugh...
I think this is actually an improvement from book 4, which seems to be an uncommon-ish opinion.
The FMC is being a bit more rational about the bonds, though I’m still sick of her telling other people what’s best for them on that front. She’s not being too dumb though so it’s fine.
I’ll have to admit that the plot is moving pretty slowly. It’s also pretty light on spice (though there are a couple of scenes in each of the last couple of books) for a book 5 in a RH series. That doesn’t bother me though. The only truly well developed relationships are Ben and Mitri, but honestly that’s still pretty good odds for the genre.
What’s enjoyable are the characters. Mike is a really nice addition and he’s a unique character for the genre. He isn’t a quirky girl or gay BFF (nothing wrong with those guys, they’re just really common). He’s a platonic and clueless human who adds humor to the story. The guys have distinct personalities so that’s still nice. Aidan (I actually like the weird way his name is spelled but I can’t remember it) gets his shit together in this book. His bullshit in the beginning is only believable because cognitive dissonance is definitely a thing when a person is avoiding guilt. My good and kind parents voted in a nazi regime. The struggle is real.
The plot is engaging enough to keep me interested. It’s not riveting, but since it’s combined with humor and good characters, it’s still enjoyable. I can’t remember the last time I actually read book 5 in a RH series. I’m usually out at book 3.
This book is safe. No OW. There is MM, but those guys have been specifically introduced as mates ever since book 1, so I’m not sure why that would be a surprise to anyone.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This is taken directly from my notes at the end of book 1, Bonding Psychos: "I don't know WTF I just read, but it's like a dizzying carnival ride that I don't want to end."
Please note that the following review is for the SERIES, not each individual book.
First off, this series hit all of my happy buttons. Plot? ✅️ Character driven? ✅️ Unpredictable? ✅️ Large harem? ✅️ Geeky? ✅️ Funny? ❌️ - this wasn't funny. It was freakin hysterical. Hawt? ✅️ (but know going in, this is a glacial burn series. The smut takes a long time to arrive, but when it does? Im advising you now - batteries or cold showers.)
I saw the series recommended on Facebook, and the title of the first book (Bonding Psychos) alone piqued my interest. I didn't really know what I was getting myself into. And I wouldn't change a thing. However, I tend to fall into the morally gray camp, so even if I could succinctly summarize the plot (which I can't), I wouldn't.
The plot is … phenomenal doesn't even come close. I cannot even begin to write a synopsis. Trust me, bro. Read it. The world building is mind blowing, and I can't think of another romance series that has this depth of character development. In some regards, this is almost more urban fantasy than romance, but the relationship building that winds through the story is delicious. And Bea? A pure delight for such a chaotic good character. (For those who aren't in the know about character alignments, she is just on the “good” side of morally gray.)
All in all, chef's kiss. I'm off to see what other adventures Gina Morris has written!
“I’m a real winner at watching my back, said no one ever.”
It's time for Beatrice to add more bonds, but that doesn't keep the world from turning or her enemies from moving against her.
I didn't notice any inconsistencies in the plot, world building, or characters.
This book turned a little more serious, but was still more of a fun time than an emotionally gripping time. The characters learn and grow along with their relationships.
I noticed a handful of editing errors, but nothing egregious.
This series continues to be in the running for my “will read again” list.
So much insanity, it’s utterly fantastic! I was wrong about the traitor, which I’m pleased about, unless there’s a double bluff coming. The mate bonds are in full force and spicy times with Mitri was eye opening. Ben’s first interrogation was interesting and ucky. I have no idea how this is going to be resolved but I can’t wait to see how it goes. And Kimi come home, we miss you
Try living life not being able to be angry? Where one thought or action could give a homicidal goddess the keys to your body. That’s Beatrice’s world right now as she tries to keep spark well fed and bond with her mates. Or is that mate with her bonds? All while another set of bad guys are stealing others to use for their own selfish gain. On to the next book! I’m so glad I found this series after it was finished!
The world and character building is phenomenal. I love how Bea is learning that there are some people she can depend on, even if it's taken this long. I hope the goddess is destroyed in epic fashion. Now, on to book 6!
The confusing plot line of the e last 4 books is starting to take a more solid form, pulling those lines into a coherent progression that actually makes sense.
We've got some heat with tons of story, this series made me lose sleep because it was difficult to put down ... it's one of those stories you read front to back with no skimming or skipping ahead, just pure pleasure read. I highly recommend!
I’m really excited for the last book. Want to know if we get a hea and rid of the big bad witch. There is so much that needs a conclusion too. Can it be done.
This series was really good! Easy to lose yourself in the world created. Loved each book in this series and can’t wait to explore this author’s other books.
