It all started in first grade when Cat Johnson won the essay contest at Hawthorne Elementary School and got to ride in the Chief of Police's car in the Memorial Day Parade...and the rest, as they say, is history. As an adult, Cat generally tries to stay out of police cars and is thrilled to be writing for a living. She has been published under a different name in the Young Adult genre, but released her first romance in 2006.
Today, she is a NY Times & USA Today best-selling, award-winning author of contemporary romance. A promo ho, she's sponsored real live bull riding cowboys and promoted romance using bologna.
Never thought total absorption into a journey world would include a cadaver lab, ghosts, and Mudville. Never say never, ever. This had me intrigued throughout, and I was ecstatic two ghosts get a happy ending. Does it really ever end though, for them? Gabe and Millie were sweet and period wise the author couldn't have picked a more exciting and volatile time in history for me, when Millie had lived or died in this case. Prohibition, bootlegging, speakeasy, women's rights, it all just meshes to make a boiling volcano. Meeting up with more of Mudville's long-term, and life-time, residents is a hoot and a half. Natalie was not as endearing to me in this 2nd book. Rather neurotic in her thought processes, but none the less entertaining, I think she's a bit too self absorbed. Liam is a gruff sweetheart and listening to their dialog has me chuckling often. Loved the communication field opening up, thinking of all the new possibilities. I do hope there are many more editions to this series with all as equally riveting, and humorous, as the current reads.
What a fantastic second story about the ghostly goings on in the town of Mudville. When Natalie finds a bone outside the train depot, the mystery begins again. Who does the bone belong to? When the LADS get together to figure things out, Nat finds a ghost at Harper's house. Sending Gabe back to find her comes with it's own set of consequences, Liam is now able to hear the ghosts! The question is how & why now?? Another problem, Harper insists that she heard people talking in her attic, so she is able to hear them as well & believes her house is haunted. This book was such a fun read, I laughed out loud at so many things. It was a sweetly sexy story & our favorite ghost just may find something he didn't even know he was looking for. Grab your favorite cocktail, slip into your soft pj's & dig into this amazing story today! I sure hope Cat takes us on another adventure with the ghostly group from Mudville NY! Enjoy!
Natalie an, Liam and Gabe return for more bones, and a shy ghost who ends up being a conduit for the living that can hear them talking if she's touching Gabe, who's crazier the dead or the living, thinking they can hear voices, even crazier lady thinking she can get rid of the ghosts, what to do now that Stone is hearing the voices that Harper had heard, do the ghosts get a vote in Natalie's decision to tell them both they aren't crazy, awesome history lessons, and this live person votes for Harper and Stone to be let into the group, and this live person votes for a Cadaver Lab 3, thank you Cat Johnson for another phenomenal story, Dana Zamora
Ok, it is another great story. Love the touch of Gabe finally finding love and whenever he and Millie touch, other people can hear them talk. So when Gabe is finally able to get Millie to talk, they scare poor Harper. Now in comes the "exorcist" to get rid of Gabe and Millie from Harper's house. That was a hilarious scene to say the least. Anyway, once Gabe and Millie finally return, they talk to Natalie while Liam is present. He can now hear these two but no other ghost. The ending was interesting since Harper's man was able to hear the ghost couple in Natalie's backyard. Cat left us hanging in the end. So glad she decided to write a third book. FANTASTIC job Cat! I would recommend this book!
I've loved Cat Johnson's books for a while now. Actually I've read her steamy contemporary books, not her paranormal stories. The Cadaver Lab stories are a wonderful surprise. Natalie sees and hears ghosts which complicates her life and the live of her sexy boyfriend. What a diverse, entertaining group of characters! Along with their ghostly world, Cat has managed to seamlessly weave in factual information about the real world happenings during the ghosts lives. Fun, suspenseful, and surprising. You never know what the ghosts and the living will do and say. Looking forward to reading book 3. Enjoy!
Ok this time the mystery is ridiculous. I'm really not enjoying it.
"Gabe was probably double her age. Not that it mattered. There was a long-standing tradition of men dating women half their age. Both parties being dead didn’t change that" She did not just say that😐
Why they're making Natalie and Gabe's friendship like an awkward situationship? It's weird ewww
Ok... Natalie turned into a narcissistic red flag. She wasn't a great character before per se but not this much.
🦴🩻👻🚂🛤️ Half character was gone, slow and weak plot, turned the Mc really annoying and badly written.

Now they have a bone they need to find out about. They get the LADS together at Harper’s Aunt’s house. When Nat and Gabe walk in and are looking around they spot a new ghost. Can they get her to talk to them? Nat and Liam get in an argument and Nat realizes she may not be giving him attention. Can she correct it? Watch out for Nat’s mind to run in the wrong direction even though she knows better. Will the bone mystery be solved? Will life ever go back to any kind of normal? Come on in and find out.
I have fallen in love with these books ,and these characters. The story line causes me no great stress or anxiety, the romance is warm and fuzzy not hot and steamy, and I can read my book and not worry If my grandchildren read it over my shoulder with me. Everything about this book makes me smile, and I cannot wait for the next one!! Cat, I love all of your writing, but these books are just so fun. Thank You!! They are definitely some of your best!!
These were a really good read. Not too light or to heavy. A little closed door mixed with some low level spice. Comedy, mystery, feels. Very enjoyable. The only reason it’s four stars is because I think she’s going to leave it as a trilogy when I think she could stretch this into many more enjoyable reads.
I absolutely loved Cadaver Lab 2 and Gabe & Millie's story, and so will you. I can't wait for more to be added to this story. Thanks, Cat, for writing another interesting and intriguing story.
This feel good mystery is fun and entertaining. The paranormal side of it makes it interesting and intriguing for all. It has a little bit of spice and danger to keep things interesting. I truly love this cozy mystery and can't wait to read more.
Oh I just loved this book. It was wonderful to catch up with Natalie, Liam and the ghostly Gabe. I do hope that there will be a third book in the series.
