The Fort: A Bigfoot Encounter

Rate this book
A saddled, riderless horse gallops into Fort Henson. Colonel Moore recognizes the horse and knows that it should be at Fort Sumner, to the northwest. Sending a quick strike group of calvary soldiers to the fort to information about an earlier patrol sent to aid the fort turns out to be the beginning of a nightmarish trip for Captain Christopher Dent. What the captain and his men come across is something they have never encountered before, and the patrol soon finds itself in a life and death struggle. Joining the captain and his men is a father and son duo who is trying to return another horse to the fort, a mountain man named July Majors, and a wagon train of elderly holy rollers. No one is safe from the terror that only comes out at night and is never seen.

I like the cover.
What happens when the United States Government wants to start building forts in the NW connecting the interior to the Pacific Ocean? Well, nothing really unless that land is inhabited by creatures no one sees. And that is the problem with this tale. We never see what the creatures look like. And what happened to the one hundred men that were working and stationed at Fort Sumner? They just vanished with no blood trails. How does that happen? I mean, the fort is torn to shreds but there is not a sign of the missing soldiers
That aside, this is a very engaging tale and it kept my attention right up to the end as I kept waiting for a good conclusion and ending. Sadly, that didn’t happen and how do we know it was Big Foot? We don’t, because the readers never gets to see the creature. And how did Washington deal with the report from Colonel Moore about what happened and why they should not build forts in the area? We will never know because none of those issues are ever fleshed out.
And to top that off, I came across twenty-seven grammatical issues. This seems to be a common thread in ever book I’ve read in the last two months. Are authors relying on AI to proof their work? If so, it isn’t working. My services are available.
If you’re a Bigfoot fan, you just might like this story, but, like myself, you will have more questions than answers.
Three stars.

P.S. I apologize for the misspellings and grammar in the first review. It was horrible. I was gong through a difficult medical issue at the time.

Absolutely terrifying. Being assailed by something you're unable to see, but which throws huge rocks, screams, howls and whistles at human intrusion, you have yourself the setting for a truly nerve-wracking read. The Author knows his onions when it comes to the legends and reports of Bigfoot/Sasquatch, and this book adds the human factor to a situation that would scare most people to death. A cracking read, full of suspense. Recommended for fans of the cryptozoological.

Sequel?

I was completely invested in the characters great courage. A story with menacing danger. This is a suspenseful and unpredictable story with memorable characters and a plot that keeps you guessing. I’m sure any young adult will enjoy the suspense. I want to know if there will be a sequel.
