Author Sing Your Secrets is a steamy, love triangle (no cheating), celebrity, contemporary romance. It is book four in the Love, Me & the 303 Series but can be read as a standalone.
We finally have Reese’s book!!! And I am ready to declare this as my favourite fictional friendship group 🥹🥹🥹
It took me a bit to get into this one - I was quickly interested in Reese’s backstory, her career struggles and relationships with her ex and her mother. I was dragging myself a bit though the early Miles chapters - I’ve determined that the ‘struggling musician’ trope just isn’t my fav. But of course Kay’s writing is ✨magic✨ and I ended up really loving Reese and Miles’ story.
4.5⭐️ for the quality family drama, tension, chemistry, emotional development from both main characters, Reese’s entire personality, the perfect amount of spice, top tier side characters (and not just the primary friend group). And most importantly NO 3RD ACT BREAK UP!
First things first - congratulations to Kay Cove and a big fat thank you for sending me an ARC of her book in exchange for my honest review
Rating: 3.5 stars (once again, let this be an open petition for GR to give us 1/2 stars, please and thank you)
This is the first book I've read by Kay Cove and right off the bat, I have to praise her style and the pace. Moreover, I liked that, without having read the previous books of the series, I never felt lost or like I was missing important pieces of the story. The introduction of the characters is done seamlessly and quite nicely. With a few sentences, we get to know the girl friends and my curiosity was piqued.
One of the most special things about SYS in my opinion is that, while I believe Cove has done a great job in terms of spice, plot, and tropes - one bed, found family, first love, one of them is sick and cares for the other, etc.- the book truly shines thanks to its subjacent theme. Because let's not be fooled: this is not just a romance. This story is also about forgiveness.
And I'm not talking about petty disagreements or childish fights that get easily solved. No. What I mean is the kind of forgiveness that comes with real growth and allows us to move forward, even when we've been deeply hurt. Especially then. The one that feels liberating. Like a huge weight has been lifted off our shoulders and we can finally breathe again because we no longer carry that burden with us. Reese's journey is one of personal growth through that exact type of forgiveness: from Petey, to her mother, to herself in the last instance, I just loooooved how Cove made sure we witnessed her going through the highs and lows until that point. It was easy to connect with her in those particular moments, when doubts and what-if's felt nauseatingly strong and overwhelming, because we've all been there and it's real cool when you can relate to a character on that level.
Then why didn't I rated this book higher than 3.5 stars? It pains me endlessly to say this, but it was mostly because of Reese's personality. While there were times when I truly connected with her, many others I couldn't. And I totally get that doesn't mean it's a bad character and that me connecting or not with her isn't the only thing that should influence my opinion, but it is a big part.
Allow me to elaborate: to me, there was a lack of coherence between who she was with Miles and who she was with the rest of the world.
While in her life she was this mature woman who, despite feeling insecure and/or having very reasonable doubts about what to do with her life, still made sound decisions, whenever she was around Miles, she forgot about that and turned fifteen again.
Reese is clearly an intelligent and self-driven woman, but every time he's around, she finds the way to steer the conversation towards something sexual. No matter how serious the situation is or the inner turmoil she's going through, she never fails to mention how exceptionally good her head is, or how much she likes having sex. As if without that, her opinion isn't enough. As if she isn't worth the time if sex isn't in the picture. And that annoys me so much. Because YES, I applaud a woman who unapologetically enjoys sex and seeks her own pleasure whithout giving in to slut-shaming culture. But when being sex-driven feels like the only personality trait, I am immediately thrown off.
I get that this might be completely intentional by the author and an evident response to years of feeling like her voice and personality weren't worth the attention and respect, but I just had a hard time reconciling the woman Reese was with her friends and family with the one she was with this new love interest. As if she needed to overcompensate somehow and wanted to grab his attention by whatever means possible.
All in all, and except for that particular thing, I enjoyed Reese's and Miles' journey, had fun reading it and I'm extremely grateful for having been selected as an ARC reviewer.
4.5 ⭐️ I LOVED THIS BOOK and received it as an ARC from Kay Cove! This book was absolute perfection. It is dual POV and follows our main characters Miles & Reese both who love music with all their hearts.
Kay Cove writing is easy to read and she’s amazing at writing love stories.
This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.
This is the 4th book in Kay Cove’s Love, Me and the 303 series. The series follows 5 girlfriends as they go through different situations in their life and find their HEA. They can each be read as a standalone, but you will get spoilers and inside joke references from the previous books.
In true Kay Cove fashion, you have a well-constructed inter-woven plot line and deep character arcs with tons of banter and spice sprinkled in. Kay Cove never fails to create characters who are easy to relate to and fall in love with.
Reese is a paralegal living in Denver, after returning from Atlanta after a devastating break-up. She is that friend who says whatever is on her mind, works hard, plays hard and loves harder.
Miles is back in Denver after coming back from LA due to consistent rejection from music labels and executives. He’s living with his cousin and her husband wants to try and find his own way. After finding out his cousin's husband has bought an old club he used to go to, The Garage, Miles is hired to renovate it.
Reese and Miles stumble upon each other when he's in the middle of renovating the club. It's here that Miles shares his dream of landing a record deal, and Reese is willing to help him. You can see the chemistry they have right when they meet. I loved reading their story and Miles has such a dirty mouth! AAAHHH!
If you love R&B and Hip-Hop, Soul Mates, Second Chance, Competition for her heart/ Love Triangle (no cheating), HEA, no 3rd act break-up, then you will love this book.
Overall: 5 Spice: 2
Thank you to Kay and Team for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Leave it to Kay to take a MMC that I normally wouldn’t fall for and make me head over heels for Miles. This book was nothing short of Kay’s usual, which is absolutely amazing. I am completely obsessed with her writing, her banter, her romance, and of course this friend group and found family she has created.
This book was slightly spicier than the previous ones in this series and I am NOT made about it 👀. As I said at the beginning of this review, I don’t typically like MMC who are singers. I guess they just aren’t my fictional man type, idk. However, Kay never disappoints and by the end of the boom I was swooning for Miles.
Reese also didn’t disappoint, but to be fair, I have been in love with her character since I met her in Paint Me Perfect (as well as all the girls in the Love Me & the 303 Series).
The characters are perfect. The banter is unmatched. The romance is swoony. The spice makes you blush. I seriously don’t know what else you could ask for in a romance. It was such a quick and easy read and I cannot recommend this series enough.
Side note: I’m only mildly furious at Kay for pushing of Mani’s story until 2024 🙄🙄 Nevertheless I will be impatiently waiting for her story, so that all 5 Love Me & the 303 ladies can have their HEA.
The Love, Me, & The 303 series has been exceptional, and this 4th book is absolutely top tier. This is Reese's story & how she meets Miles, a want to be singer looking for his big break. The shut down music venue in town is being revamped and reopening and with the help of Reese's, her Dad, and his idol, Petey Pete the Sneak he gets much needed support, advice, and motivation to write songs about what matter to him. Reese and Miles only have eyes for each other, but then Miles gets the dream contract-will it make or break his relationship? Will Reese lose the second man she's loved to fame and fortune?
As with all of her books, Kay has a well developed storyline that makes you feel the plot. The characters are lovable, some not so much, but add to the story in all the right ways.
We all know and love Quinn, Reese, Noa, Mani, & Adler. There are references to other plots in the series, so they need to be read in order . If you like well written love stories, read the series, and you will not be disappointed. I'm absolutely looking forward to reading Mani's story next!
This book was amazing. I love the way Kay writes and is able to easily hook me and draw me in. I loved Miles & Reese's story so much, it's instantly a fave of mine in this series! You have Reese who wanted to be a music producer but then after heartbreak she gave up and became a divorce lawyer then you have Miles who is pretty much a failed musician and became a construction worker. As fate would have it, their two paths cross when Miles starts to renovate the towns old music hot spot aka The Garage. However, sparks may fly but once an old flame returns will Reese give him another chance?! I love the love triangle tropes (there was no cheating) & music! Miles is now in my top contenders of fave book boyfriends, he was perfection. He had the look, the vibe, the voice, the dirty mouth & he knew what he wanted. Kay just really knows how to write these book men!
First, I want to say thank you to Kay Cove for sending me an ARC of Sing Your Secrets! This was my first Kay book, but I can promise you it won’t be my last.
I absolutely devoured this book. I loved Kay’s writing style and the pace of which the storyline took place. I love love love Reese and Miles. Sing your secrets had it all, the spice, the plot, the character growth.
Reese is a sassy, say what is on your mind, music loving FMC who is not really sure what she wants to do with her life and is feeling a little lost and not herself after having her heart broken. Miles is an inspiring singer songwriter who has just come home to Denver after being shut down so many times in the music industry in LA.
Reese is learning to let go of her past, looking for that excitement in her life, fall in love again and with Miles she just might find the missing piece in her life that had been missing. Miles is learning to believe in himself again, and with Reese in his corner he just might have his dreams come true or maybe find some new dreams.
Gah these two were perfection. I loved Reese and unfiltered personality. And come on miles was sooooo swoony.
If you are looking for a story about overcoming and letting go of the past, chasing your dreams, finding new dreams. This book is for you!
" 'It's that simple, man. Be honest Just… sing your secrets.' "
Sing Your Secrets, the latest in Kay Cove's Love, Me & The 303 series, comes Reese's and Miles story.
God, I missed these girls. Everyone in the L,M&T303 gang makes you feel at home when you're reading their stories.
Reese Reyes and Miles Lorren, both down in their lives and relationships, come together when fate intercepts and throws them together with the rebuild of The Garage, their music home-place for years.
Reese is such a sweetheart; she knows what she wants, or so she thinks. When a wrench is thrown into her life, her life changes for the better. And Miles? You fall in love with him, from his very first line.
I absolutely love their relationship, the emotional and damaged pieces melding together. They healed together, blending their passions for music with their love.
And when she first says the words I love you? Emotional damage, right there.
If you're a fan of rockstars, second chance, music, love triangles, and no 3rd act break-up, this romance is for you.
"The Garage always had a plan. Thank you for bringing me everything. Thank you for bringing me… home."
I ended up really liking this book despite the trope. I am not an instalove girl, but this one was done extremely well. I enjoyed the side characters in this book along with all the drama that they brought to the overall story. For sure a fun read!
I can't even begin to explain what this series has done to my heart. I didn't even have steamy, contemporary romance on my radar until I stumbled on Paint Me Perfect.
Now 4 books later in this series and Kay Cove makes me cry and fall in love with love even more, every time. 10% in on SYS and I was bawling.
The way Kay writes, you immediately fall in love with every.single.character. The mains, the side characters, even Addie and Joel's cats that make an appearance in every book now. 🥹 There's no way to pick a favorite couple for me. And every book surprises me with how freaking amazing it is! I will forever read everything Kay touches!
Miles and Reese are pure perfection in Sing Your Secrets. I knew I loved Reese already from the previous books, but Miles MIGHT be my new favorite main man. (Sorry Cody and Joel, and extra sorry to Chase 🤣)
The 🥵 scenes are amazing! So well written. The 💕 scenes break your heart and then mend it in the next breath. Absolutely beautiful story and characters and writing.
I don't think I'll ever be able to write a review that accurately describes how good these books are. You just have to read them! And I feel lucky to have stumbled on Kay Coves books last year!
CANNOT WAIT FOR ALL THE AMAZINGNESS THAT IS STILL TO COME THIS YEAR!!!!!
A few of many favorite quotes:
✨"Anger is heavy. I'm tired of carrying it."
✨"Hey, baby?" "What?" I ask. "You're moving in the wrong direction." He licks his lips. "Your seat is up here." 🥵
✨"The first time I fell in love was seamless and smooth. It was so easy. It was like closing my eyes and letting sleep wash over me after an exhausting day. It was sneaky seductive....." * "Miles is different. He's a freight train and I'm tied down on the tracks."
I completely devoured this book! I couldn’t put it down! Sing Your Secrets, and every book in this series, is so good! The women main characters have such sass and are strong, independent women who can hold their own in the world, but are completely dependent on each other, in the absolute best way! This girl gang is funny and picks on each other, but they are also each others biggest supporters and love each other immensely.
Sing Your Secrets was an easy and fun read. I adore Reese and her banter, wittiness, and sexual innuendos during every conversation. Miles is an aspiring R&B singer, feeling a little down on his luck until he moves back home to help his cousin renovate an old building. The building is where so many memories were made for both Reese and Miles. “The Garage” music venue is rumored to hold a lot of magic and it definitely works its magic for Reese and Miles 😉
I highly recommend everyone reading this entire series. It will make you laugh and swoon and make you want to drink all the sangria!
This is my first Kay Cove book and I’m now a committed reader to all of her work! Sing Your Secrets is the fourth book of the Love, Me & the 303 series and while I haven’t read the other three I don’t feel like I missed any pieces of Reese’s story.
Reese & Miles are perfect for each other. After going through a very hard heartbreak Reese has basically sworn off falling in love until she meets Miles, the guy working to remodel/renovate The Garage. The Garage is a HUGE part of the musical scene in her hometown and it’s been sitting empty for a while.
Miles is looking for his big break in music after coming back home from LA due to consistent rejection from labels & music executives. He’s living with his cousin & her husband but doesn’t want to always have to lean on family. Then he meets Reese.
At first when Petey, Reese’s ex, was brought into the story I didn’t like him. I didn’t understand what he was doing there. But as the story went on I knew he was there for a reason.
This story is beautifully written and I would love to see what’s next.
"This one is for the girls whose first loves didn't last. Cheers to the fools who broke your heart and made you stronger, smarter, and fierce."
This series together is phenomenal but as stand alones I absolutely devoured them. Reese as a main character was one of the best FMC I have read. She is strong, independent, sassy, and sexy. She knows what she wants, she knows how she feels, and she knows what she wants to say and just says it. Nothing hold her back EXCEPT for a terrible heartbreak that makes her scared to fall in love again. Miles is perfect. He is relatable and because of that he is such a lovable character. This book was fun and easy (no third act breakup/heartbreak). The book showed the meaning of true love and forgiveness, shown through continuous character growth.
The books Kay Cove writes are all perfectly executed and always has you laughing, happy, heartbroken and even physical tears streaming from your face. This series reminds me a lot of Ana Huang "Twisted" series, so if you loved those, you will love these.
I really liked the pacing of this book! Reese and Miles both have some trauma and hurt they are trying to heal from and I was definitely rooting for them both. The character development was done well and I am glad the love triangle had no cheating.
I did like how a lot of the side characters were all given character arcs too — Petey and Reese’s mom made me so mad but they definitely redeemed themselves in the end, although parts of Petey’s redemption was a bit hard to believe.
The spice was done well, however I did think sometimes it was a little unnecessary. It felt like the majority of the banter between Reese and Miles were sexual jokes, which I found a bit repetitive. Their relationship was also insta love, and I wish there was more tension between them before they fell for each other.
Tropes: - insta love - celebrity/singer romance - love triangle - redemption
Thank you Kay Cove for an arc in exchange for an honest review!
Ugh, I can't believe I've finished all the current books in this series, I'm so excited for Mani's book but also feel bittersweet. My feelings for this series are next level, I love and adore every character in this series. It feels so wholesome and relatable!! I've just absolutely loved reading this series and following these characters, it just I can't even describe the warmth and homey feeling I got from this series! It's spicy, funny and relatable.
It just feels like they are your friends and I love that.
Although this last book wasn't my favourite, I still absolutely adored it through and through. Reese (Pieces - I honestly love the little quirks these books have) and Miles were so sweet. Also no third-act break up working through things as adults, growing and learning together and falling in love in a very realistic way with faults and flaws, no one's perfect but that's okay, because we learn to love those even more.
Miles lands back in Denver after chasing his music dreams in LA. It doesn’t pan out, so he’s staying with a cousin and rehabbing a historic music venue until he can get back to LA and his music. But one night Reese walks in and it all changes.
Reese was dumped by her now famous boyfriend/first love who annoyingly sends flowers and is looking for forgiveness & a second chance. She’s working as a paralegal even though her dream is to work in the music industry. Her dad is a producer whose footsteps she wants to follow.
Such a good story about believing in yourself, following your happy and your dreams.
All of the relationships are so well written. Usually by the 3rd or 4th book I am burnt out on a series but I wish the girls had more friends that Kay could write about. Each book in this series is un-put-downable. None of the tropes are overdone and the steam is written into the story but doesn’t take over.
I have been reading the Love, Me, and the 303 Series since the beginning and have loved them all... but I think this one is my favorite so far!
• Sort of Love Triangle • Found family • Celebrities/fame
Even though there was a bit of a love triangle, it didn't really bother me even though it's not one of my favorite tropes. Which just goes to show... any trope can be enjoyable when done right!
I like how confident Reese was. She was just so unapologetically herself, and I loved that. I liked Miles, though his inability to let go of certain ideas about success was frustrating at times. Though that's probably my personal bias since I can never understand why people want to be famous... (in my opinion, it sounds awful 😂).
Overall, I would definitely recommend this whole series! I love the found family and sisterhood themes that run throughout the series. It's totally worth the read!
This is the second book I have read by author Kay Cove and now I feel the need to go back and read the previous novels from this series. I really love how this is not just another love story, but it's a love story with a message of forgiveness, second chances, and letting go of the past. I absolutely love the way author Kay Cove went about Reese and Miles characters. She made their love be a very mature love, with communication. I believe its the first time I ever see a couple this mature in a novel and I really loved it. No petty fights or misunderstandings, and the spice is so good. Clearly Reese and Miles were destined for each other and I rooted for them till the very end. It's a beautiful romance read. Any romance lover will definitely love it!
yet another kay slay i was rlly on the fence abt this book esppp when petey came back into her life and just that was too much for me idk but it does show how exes can have a perfectly healthy relationship ! which is a slay tbh bc theres so much stigma abt friendship between exes. the TRUST between the two tbh unrivaled i adored that they just knew that they were safe w their partner.
cool storyline - i loved seeing addie and joel i missed them ! theyre my fave couple in the series by far !! quinn and cody a close second! that does mean i didnt love reese and miles tho !! bc i dooo theyre cute and slay together fr
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Miles is my new favorite book boyfriend!!!!! Kay Cove does it again in this fabulous Singer songwriter novel!! This is a quick easy romance and has the perfect amount of spice but a whole bit of plot that was keeping me involved. The character development that Reese has had makes me so happy and i could relate to Reese as a character more then i would possibly want to admit lol. Highly recommend this one!!!
If you haven't read any of Kay's books, what are you waiting for? This series will hook you in from book 1, though you don't have to read the whole series as it can be read as a standalone.
These girls are now part of my life! I get so excited reading of them as an individuals. This particular one follows Reese who's a paralegal with an ambition to sing. Miles on the hand, damn just a pure sweetheart! If you're into the music scene, R&B and hip hop then definitely pick this up.
This series just keeps getting better and better! I love the characters and how we continue to see their growth, even after their own stories have ended. Sing Your Secrets is a wonderful second chance love story, focusing on getting a break in the music industry, challenging family dynamics, and so much more.
Reese and Miles are literal soul mates, they just fit so well together! I loved their communication with one another and how they didn’t pressure each other.
I can’t get over that epilogue, it was just too cute! And I’m so happy to see the characters continuing to work on their relationships - especially Reese and her mother!
Sing your Secrets is the 4th book in the Love, Me & the song of 303 series. Reese and Miles were perfect for me. I loved this story. The chemistry between the two was 🔥🔥 and of course I love the glimpses of my favorite girl crew. Reese is definitely a woman full of power with a wild and free side. I love me a good rockstar love story. I even fell in love with the small bromance that I felt could be blossoming.
If you have not given @authorkaycove a chance you will not regret this series 💕💕
This is the 4th book in the Love Me and the 303 series This book was sooo good! I seriously couldn’t put it down!! This was my first book by Kay and I don’t regret it!! It was so good!!I normally don’t go for guys being singers because I sometimes cant picture them but Miles wanting to was just good! I can definitely picture Miles!! I loved Reese! The way she was strong and independent! I mean as she should! We love a strong queen! I loved how their relationship really did develop during the book! I loved read and picturing the development. Aldo the TENSION!! 😮💨 Overall it was just a really really good book!! Definitely recommend!! Thank you so much for this ARC!! 🫶
3.5 !! i’ve said that every boy has been my favourite book boyfriend in this series so far, but i think miles takes the top spot. truly loved reese’s and miles story 🥹 they were adorbs. i love this friendship group so so much, i can’t wait for amani’s book !
I really enjoyed this one! I absolutely LOVED Reese and her character. She had such a bold and confident personality but also had her own struggles with her mental health and family relationships. I was so proud of how far she came and I feel like she has a personality that we don’t see often in books with amazing sass, quick comebacks, and a heart of gold. I also love the friendship aspect in these books and I think everyone deserves to have a friendship group like this. I loved how this book talked about your first love and how hard it can be to move on from that, but also gave you hope for a better future. This book is perfect for the girlies who are having a hard time getting over someone or think they won’t ever find anyone better. You will. I thought the whole premise of the book was very fun and u loved how it didn’t follow the stereotypical plot of everyone achieving all their goals and making it big, but instead redefined success and what is important. I would definitely recommend this book it was such a fun read and I loved all the characters, discovery of self worth, and growth throughout the story.
Also, I absolutely adored the ending!! Perfect way to end the book!
“You make me think that happiness is easy, and I shouldn’t settle for anything less.”
Sing Your Secrets was a intriguing story of growth and forgiveness and love. It’s well-written and has well-developed characters who actually communicate. It’s about chasing your dreams and realizing that dreams can change in a way to fulfill you more in the future. Miles and Reese were perfection.
“I feel like myself around you.”
Reese is feisty and passionate and fights for those she believes in. She was shattered in the past and put herself back together again. I loved her strong sense of self and how she was determined to not fall victim to past mistakes yet that didn’t keep her from opening her heart. Miles was hardworking, unassuming and an absolute sweetheart. He’s been beat down by the music industry and struggling with his next steps. His confidence has been shattered, but Reese’s unwavering faith in his music and in him as person gives him the strength to take chances that he might never have before.
“Every single love song I write is for you. Every time I perform, I’m singing to you”
The chemistry and banter between these two is electric, but what’s really refreshing is their honest and open communicate. They don’t hide their feelings or let misunderstandings fester. They have adult, mature conversations and support one another throughout any obstacle or challenge thrown in their way. Pain from the past does inform their choices and how they proceed, but it is done in such a way that helps them move forward rather than linger in the past. I loved watching their relationship develop and how they believed in each other.
“For the first time in a really long time, when it comes to falling in love, I feel like the rewards outweigh the risks. You give me hope.”
Sing Your Secrets was a fun, emotional and compelling read that is full of witty dialogue and strong feelings. I felt like I experienced everything that Reese and Miles did and was completely engrossed in this engaging read. This entire series has been so good and I can’t wait for Amani to get her story.
