Karlisle is a beautiful and accomplished businesswoman. She is the go-to hair stylist in Calhoun Heights. Fresh out of an unfulfilling relationship, Karlisle makes time for her family, best friend, Nara, and her 6-month-old son, Kaleb–but never herself. After a chance encounter, Karlisle meets Talib who is everything she isn’t–calm, patient and understanding.
Talib is a well-revered Family Law Attorney. He’s spent most of his adult life playing the field and building the career most would dream of. After a promise to himself and a chance encounter, Talib finds his life going in a very different direction.
With time, Talib and Karlisle find themselves intertwined in one another. She is torn between her deepening feelings for Talib and works overtime to prevent her and Kaleb from potential heartache.
Will Karlisle embrace the uncertainty of love? Or will Talib lose momentum while trying to break down the barrier surrounding her heart?
It’s one thing for a man to provide physical and financial security but when he provides emotional safety, 🗣️HE’S A KEEPER!!
Talib was my kind on MMC! He was established in his career and a family attorney and was doing extremely well for himself. He was confident and wasn’t about playing games when it came to relationships. He was finally at a point in his life where he was ready to settle down and start a family. He had no idea that the woman for him would literally come out the gate swinging!
Karlisle was a woman about her business. She was extremely successful as the owner of one of the top salons in the city. When she wasn’t working her magic on the heads of women, she was doting on and caring for her 6 month old son Kaleb. She never pictured herself as a single mother but she made the best of her situation. Not many things could get her out of character but her son’s sperm donor would do it every time. After playing in her face in the most disrespectful way, she takes out her rage the only way she knows how. Too bad it wasn’t on the intended target. 🫠🥴
I really enjoyed the first 75% of this book! I’m a sucker for main characters that know what they want, aren’t childish and playing with other peoples feelings leading them on. Karli and Talib started out with a mature relationship but somewhere along the way her character began backtracking to this insecure, immature woman that did not exude the confidence she did when her character was first introduced. Some of the angst was necessary for the plot but after a while, she became extremely exhausting and the kindness and patience that Talib displayed had me feeling like he was a simp behind her and allowed her to play in his face one too many times.
Overall I enjoyed the story! The family dynamic on both sides and the friendship throughout was really a whole vibe but Karli really turned me off towards the end. She didn’t deserve Talib 🙅🏽♀️
Well damn, Karlisle came out swinging! Pun intended! 😂 After her son's sperm donor decides he wants to try her about her child, her anger makes her act out and tear up his ish! Too bad it wasn't his! Oops.... Karlisle is on her grown woman thing, educated, her own home, car, and her own business. But when it comes to her baby daddy, he still takes her there, and puts her in her feelings a year later.
Talib, is all man, and just too calm for me. Yeah, he was upset about the situation with his car, but the way he let her off the hook just shows what type of man he is. Being an attorney just making partner, he has his life together, well almost. He wants a wife to share life with, and this firecracker he just met is calling out to him. I loved the way Talib was intentional about his pursuit of Karlisle. Up front, no games, and allowed his vulnerability to shine through.
I could understand to a degree Karlisle's apprehension about putting herself out there again. But ma'am this man is showing you and telling you exactly what he wants and who he is. Yet, you are still holding back and keeping him at arm's length. I was happy for them both when they got into a groove, as they both deserved love. Then Karlisle allowed doubt to come in, and her childish behavior was a turn off. I didn't blame Talib for reacting the way he did, as he didn't deserve it.
I enjoyed the read for the most part, however, Karlisle's bratty behavior just rubbed me wrong.
Oh my goodness, this story was so good. It was delightful to meet and enjoy this couple. I surely hope to see them again with the fourth baby. Talib and Karisle were too cute. I liked their HEA ending too.
This book took me for a ride from start to finish. I loved how Talid knew who he wanted and perused her unapologetically. Karli was a mess! There were times I wanted to cry with her, strangle her, and smack her like she did Talid… 😂 This was my first read by this author. I’ll definitely be reading more of her books. Great job Deroncia 🤎
First book by this author and I can honestly say I enjoyed it. Sometimes all it takes is the right man or woman to help you grow and see life just a totally different way. Talib knew he wanted Karlise from the time she smashed his Audi with a bat. Karlise was scorned and hurt by the hands of her ex Derrick I felt like Talib took his time and allowed her to get In her soft girl era.
I really got into this book! The way Talib was all in for his girl, chasing her down with no shame, totally caught my attention. Despite Karli being all over the place, Talib wasn’t put off. Man, Karli was a handful! There were moments when I was so ready to give her a reality check, but then there were times I totally got where she was coming from. Talib? Oh, he’s total book boyfriend material. He knew what he wanted and went after it, doing whatever it took.
I ABSOLUTELY loved Talib!! A man who knew what he wanted and went for that with no regrets! I also loved that he made Karlisle stand on her word without being demanding..a man that knows how to lead!!
My girl was struggling but I’m glad she got her shii together cause don’t stress me Karlie!
Daroncia has become one of my fav authors! I love all of her books and had two favorite novels by her Suga Baby and 25 days of Christmas with a boss. But let me tell you huntyyy… Talib just topped those. I love this book so much. It’s wrapped around real life situations that I can very much relate to on Karlisle’s end. Talib was just everything a woman could want and the sex? Whew, top tier! I look forward to reading more!🩷
Such a book palette refresher. I loved this story. It was refreshing. It was sweet, it was beautiful and worthy. Karlisle, you were so kind, such a beauty, and an amazing woman and mother. Derrick never deserved you and glad you realized it. Who would have thought that a heated encounter could turn into something so beautiful. You and Talib meeting then encountering each other times after made for a love story worth telling the world about. That man loved you through everything that hurt you especially your past. He accepted Kaleb with open arms and you couldn’t tell him that wasn’t his son. It was such a sight to read. The level of patience, kindness, generosity, healing, and love he shared and gave you was everything. I’m glad you finally got out of your own way and didn’t lose out on something good. If you’re looking for a calming and beautiful book palette refresher this story will do it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Didn't like Karlyle much because well baby girl was annoying and immature. She lucky Talib stuck by her confused self sabotaging a**. Like sis seriously? I swear women in these books act they are the only ones with feelings and that can get hurt. I don't see how these men still be wanting them for real for real with stuff they do sometimes. Anyway, it was an ok read. Definitely not like I thought it would be. Kind of disappointed honestly. See for yourself though.
I wish I could give this 10 ⭐️ this was really good. The way that Karlisle met Talib was very crazy and funny. I can’t imagine how Karlisle felt about Derrick as a person because to me he was awful and I didn’t like his attitude at all. Every woman should waht a man like Talib. He was patient, kind, respectful and successful. Great read!!!
Nice , short and sweet. Karlisle and Talib were destined from the day they met to be in each other’s lives. I love the beautiful way it played out. Good book.
The beginning of this book had me captured however the rest fell a bit flat for me. Talib and Karlile’s story was cute though. It showed patience, understanding and kindness. It also showed how extending grace is worth it.
I really loved this story. I showed many faces that we has humans obtain and endure. Im very happy they obtained what God destined for them. 5 stars love and this is my first book from you so I will absolutely be checking out your catalog !
I love the feeling of reading a book by an author for the first time and the book leaves me wanting more. This story was both beautiful and chaotic but definitely showed true love conquers all.
The FMC Karlisle worked my nerves!!!!! Whewwww ! The MMC Talib had a whole lot patience dealing with Karlisle. Bless his heart lol overall it was a good story. The little spice that we got was 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I loved the whole book , I’m soooo happy her was the man talib wanted karlisle bad and I sooo happy he stood on business cause like how you gonna like yo baby mama boyfriend beat you up like that Derrick 😔. 😭😭
This is my first book from this author and definitely not my last. This book gave me all the feels! Talib did not play about Karlisle at all. He was the man that she needed in her life. I cackled and rubbed my feet the entire time. A must read..and it’s also 🌶️
Okay… so I have to admit I've been holding on to this book for a while. I’m now sorry I waited so long because Daroncia did her thing with this one! From my previous reviews, you know I love single-parent romances. Karlisle and Talib were a vibe. They started off rocky, and the waters stayed choppy for a good while, but they got it together in the end. I loved the progression of this storyline. We saw so many emotions and situations transpire that I found myself bouncing between characters, trying to pick a side 😂 Karlisle did my head in, and Talib added to the aggregation by being so understanding 🙄 (Yeah, I’m a little toxic; don’t judge me.) Daroncia created a great read with characters who understood the assignments given. I would like to see more from them in the future. I know Talib has to have at least a brother and a sister who need HEAs😏
I loved this book from beginning to end. Karlisle and Talib’s journey was one that many could relate to. It’s an amazing thing to find someone willing to fight for your love, even when you impartially love yourself. I’m glad she was able to recognize this amazing man before he became the one who got away.
"Trial and Error" by Daronça delivers a heartwarming story that intertwines love, self-discovery, and the everyday trials of life. Following my second delightful encounter with Daronça’s work, this novel stands out with its charming narrative from start to finish. The title perfectly encapsulates the essence of the story, mirroring the characters’ day-to-day experiences and the journey toward a well-deserved happy ending. Karlisle, a talented hairstylist and a devoted single mother, resonates with authenticity. Her growth, alongside the unwavering patience and understanding of Talib, the Family Law Attorney whose own life takes an unexpected turn, captures the heart. Their chemistry is palpable, their struggle between guarding against heartache and embracing love relatable. Daronça crafts their romance with a deft hand, ensuring readers are cheering for every step toward their happiness. In this tale of cautious hearts and newfound love, the question lingers: Will Karlisle open her heart to the possibilities of love, or will Talib's efforts to win her over be in vain? Daronça has done a marvelous job weaving a narrative that is not just engaging but fills the reader with a sense of fulfillment. An absolute joy to read.

Oh my goodness! What a truly beautiful love story, and guess what, there were no illegal pharmaceuticals, and no baby mama drama. So there was some baby daddy drama, but I promise it was very important to the story. The story was very well written because your emotions get involved, happy, sad, and “girl, no you didn’t”! Talib take a bow sir! I finished the book with tears in both eyes!
This was a good read. I like how the author tried to show the disconnect people have with themself after they have been hurt. This book was about love and redemption to me. Sometimes it takes the right person to love you pass your pain.
