At the behest of Mori, the boss of the Port Mafia, a young Dazai and Chuuya launch their investigation into the rumors of the previous boss’s revival, as well as the mysterious “Arahabaki” that’s somehow involved. The two’s mission carries the utmost importance, for if the truth about Mori’s predecessor gets out, the streets of Yokohama will run red with blood. Randou, one of the Mafia’s subexecutives, is said to have witnessed the supposed god, but where will his information lead?
I enjoyed this book so much! Partly because it’s been a while since I saw these scenes, so it felt relatively fresh, and partly because it had Dazai and Chuuya in it. They’re so hilarious together!
Quote time! (Sorry for the all caps, I’m lazy and didn’t want to type it myself, so this is how it came out)
Chuuya: “HEY! AT LEAST TELL ME WHERE THE HELL WE'RE GOING ALREADY !!” Dazai: “AHH, THE WEATHER'S SO BEAUTIFUL TODAY! WHY, IT'S SO LOVELY, I CAN HEAR THE VOICES OF FAIRIES IN THE AIR!”
Dazai: “THAT'S WHY I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.” (To Chuuya
Dazai: “WHAT A MESS. IF I HAD BEEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THAT, I BET I COULD HAVE HAD A PAINLESS DEATH.” Chuuya: “YEAH, SURE. I'LL KILL YOU ALL YOU WANT LATER, OKAY? FOCUS ON THE JOB.”
Dazai: “MORI-SAN TELLS ME ALL THE TIME THAT I NEED TO KEEP DOING THE THINGS THAT ANNOY PEOPLE THE MOST!” Randou: “I DON'T THINK HE MEANT THIS.”
Dazai: “IT LOOKS LIKE BEING A LEADER IS A LOT HARDER THAN I THOUGHT IT WAS. I'LL GIVE MORI-SAN A SHOULDER RUB LATER.”
They’re funny and I love them and ship them. Excited to read more!
Dazai and Chuuya are working on the case of mysterious explosions and if the old mafia boss is back from the dead.
I love them so much, omg.😭 I think Dazai has a thing for Chuuya yelling at him because he does the most just to get a reaction and then goes 😏 when Chuuya reacts. Dazai is lowkey a freak fr.
The art is amazing. The vibe is so dark and while sometimes it's hard to tell wtf is going on during action scenes, I wouldn't have it any other way.
The way they just look so young because they were young kills me. But also the art style makes them look so cute, I just wanna give them headpats.
They are also so deranged like they matched each other's freak so well??
The story itself and the investigation is confusing to my dumbass but I am very intrigued.
This volume really said 'lets make Dazai look as innocent as possible' and I am here for it. The sparkles in his eyes during "That's what makes me love you so much!"?!? the CROCODILE TEARS?? His happiness when describing the trap he set for Chuuya???? HE IS SUCH A MENACE.
Also I do not care if he is manipulating Chuuya atp because 1) he manipulates everyone he meets soooo it's nothing personal 2) "Chuuya-kun has the right to decide how he uses his skill himself" :)
Once again I'm so obsessed with Hoshikawa's style and disappointed with how lackluster/bland the Bones arc was in comparison to this. They left out so much 💔
continuing on from vol 1 and s3 first 3 episodes. once again wondering how it would've looked it bones adapted it with this art style...
chapter 5 "that's what makes me love you" with heart sparkles everywhere WHAT.
chapter 6 dazai shooting a corpse repeatedly what does that say about his humanity what does it say about chuuya's humanity what does it say about chuuya being a little pinprick of light that dazai has never encountered before in this essay i will
chapter 7 someone get rimbaud a space heater
chapter 8 dazai: i hate dogs dazai: chuuya, be my dog
chapter 9 "threre's no way chuuya would join the mafia" well do i have some great news for u shirase. bruh he's all like we have this reputation not to mess with the sheep like who do u think built that with his own hands??? not the fellow children who have no powers - literally chuuya and only him. ugh the weight of responsibility this is why we stan mori in this house.
chapter 10 he really spent so much time and effort to think of the best way to kill chuuya lmao and rimbaud is flabbergasted.
There's not much for me to say about this series, I'm endeared to it and there's not a lot that's going to stop me from continuing it at this point. Strong middle volume, there's only one left in the set and I like the art here quite a bit!
