Cameron Prancing around in an actual French maid's outfit was never the plan, but messing with Benjamin is just too much fun. I took the job as his house cleaner to make some easy money, and making him blush is a bonus. I'm not sure why he invited me into his life, but he's stuck with me. Benjamin Cameron reminds me of the boyfriend I lost. I hired him to help him reach his true potential, but I can't stop looking at him in that ridiculous outfit. How can I get rid of him before I lose control?
- Boss/Employee - Opposites Attract - Age Gap (8yrs) - Recovery & Grief - Cute Outfits
The Kindle cover is cute and shows Cameron in his little maids outfit that he wears to Benjamin's house to fluster him. The story may seem like it's supposed to be cutesy and lighthearted, but it's not. This story deals with two grieving characters that are dealing with it in different ways. One turned to drugs and alcohol, while the other buried themselves in their work. Benjamin is so sweet with how he handles Cameron, the little spitfire, and he tries to maintain a professional distance while getting to know the younger man. Of course, Cameron had other ideas and these two can't resist each other.
I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to see Cameron's actual journey to recovery. We get to see him realize that he has a problem and how Benjamin supports him getting better, but you don't get to see his actual working on himself since the story ends before all that. Basically, once they decide to be a couple the story kind of jumps just a little and they're having a moment together in their apartment but you don't get any of the work being done. Considering you get so much build up about their grief and how it all came about, I wish we got to see their recovery as well.
Bonus, Benjamin's family is amazing with him and Cameron! *Chef's kiss*

3.5 ⭐️ This was an interesting story. From the blurb I thought it would be a lot more lighthearted and fun, but this one dealt with a lot of heavy stuff. And it was so heartbreaking at times. Cam and Benji were sweethearts though. I liked them together, and I liked that Cam was bossy outside the bedroom and Benji was bossy in the bedroom.
I love when books out a focus on healing from trauma, and this book definitely does that. It's a quick read, but I didn't feel cheated. The characters were developed well, there was just enough spice, and just enough seriousness. Much love from another ex JW!
***Trigger warning for addiction and grief. Such a sweet story but still spicy. Opposites attract and both characters healing from grief. Author does a masterful job covering addiction and grief in a compassionate way. The characters are so well rounded, I swear I knew them by the end. <3

When I read the blurb, I thought this book would be fun, and there would be a lot of flirting with maid outfits going on. But nope, this book was so deep, and the maid outfit was just an added bonus to lighten the mood.
Both the main characters are dealing with grief after losing their loved ones—their boyfriend, whom they loved the most.
Cam lost his boyfriend in a car accident. At that time, Dylan, his boyfriend, was drunk, and Cam was the sober one, but Dylan was the one who was driving, causing an accident that killed Dylan. Since then, Cam has lived with guilt over Dylan's death. And Dylan's mother's texts didn't help him at all because sometimes she was civil, but other times she was always blaming him.
Ben had a fight with his boyfriend, Dean, and when he was coming home, he found Dean dead because of a drug overdose.
Both Cam and Ben dealt with their grief in totally different ways. Cam drowned his sorrow in booze and drugs because I think he has no one to share his grievance with since no parents have ever been mentioned in this book. Meanwhile, Ben dedicated his time to his work. He runs grieving counselor support teams, and he has a sister and her family as a support system.
It was kind of heartbreaking to read how Cam was struggling to live his life after he lost Dylan. But after he got to know Ben and their relationship deepened, somehow Cam got a new family, which is Ben's sister and her family, who were very supportive of him and his relationship with Ben.

L’idée était intéressante mais c’est mal exécuté. Tout est trop rapide, trop facile… la façon dont Cam arrête l’alcool et la drogue, le dépassement de leurs deuils, leur relation… pas du tout crédible tout ça
