A thousand-year-old vampire is posing as a priest in an old mission to keep his stable of human cattle safe and happy. He feeds on them each evening and spends the rest of his time, well, bored. With his three progeny, they are riding out the apocalypse with their own crop of food, hidden behind the high walls of the mission. When raiders come, the vampires protect the humans, and all that they need to give is their blood, though none know the truth of that except one. One day, on a scavenge, Clarence finds a man on the beach, and the man is beautiful, strange, and overly eager to serve a mysterious master. The man he finds is Grey, a genie, and that genie is about to touch all the lives at the mission. Caring, loving, and kind, Grey knows he must serve the vampire, but can he change a vampire's cold heart?
PLEASE pay attention to trigger warnings inside book. This is a vampire/genie/dystopian novel with gore and horror as well as lots of sexiness and love. MM/Poly/genie/vampire/dark romance/mpreg
I love writing, it's been my dream for many years, and in October of 2013, when my first book went live on Amazon, that dream came true.
Writing love stories that are centered on flawed but lovable characters is my passion. Finding love between people isn't easy, nor should it be. Even in a book, there have to be obstacles for the story to feel real.
I am a mother of three amazing people, and three adorable fur babies. I live in Colorado but love many other places besides my home. One state in particular is New Mexico, the state where I was born has always held a place in my heart.
People and places make my stories what they are. Each character I've written is a part of me in some way. Each place I write is as well. Adventures come in many ways, and each of my stories has taken me on an adventure that I treasure.
Come with me on my adventures and fall in love with my characters, as I have. I promise, you will love the ride.
Rain Carrington apparently thought up the idea for this book before the recent pandemic which makes this a very precent story. On the whole I liked this book because it was an unusual and involving story about a future earth where most people have died. Viggo is a marvelously complex character and a rather unique vampire who has set himself and his vampire family up in an old mission with some humans as cattle. Yes he is dark but Ms. Carrington has written him so that it’s pretty obvious that he is a better character than even he will admit. The genie Grey I felt wasn’t quite as good a portrayal because he just keeps trying to get Viggo to be what he thinks is a better person. Maybe it’s partly easier to fall for a bad boy? I didn’t like the last bit of the book because it seemed to suddenly change and become a Mpreg and characters minds were suddenly changed about things. It felt like she tried to squeeze too many things into the tale. It ends on a cliffhanger which I never like but at least the next one is coming out soon. Overall it was good and it’s nice to read something about vampires that is different.
HOLY COW!!!! I have never read a BOOK like this before. Holy COW!!! RAIN CARRINGTON this made me sweat and it wasn't a hot flash. Viggo is one of this Author's hardest characters to date. Grey is one of the most lovable ones EVER!! WOW just Wow. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!
He is a 1,000 year old vampire who has a group of human to feed on. He keeps them safe, well fed and even water whenever they want. Other than that he is bored and a new guest may just change his life for good. Who will that be? How will it affect his life? Follow him to find out
Vampires posing as priests and a jinn in the mix as well. The vamps look after the humans in the compound in exchange for allowing them to feed. Grey, a Jinn arrives at the gate as he was called for by Viggo the head Vampire. Not a bad story, it does end on a cliffie and there is a sounding for those who like them as well.
I really enjoyed this book. The elements of jinn and vampires was a breath of fresh air. If you are looking for something dark and different with some love thrown in, then give this book a read. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel.
Well hello Dark and lovely 🔥. This story wasn't only extremely steamy (yep yep) it was hella Intriguing with great characters, I could not put this book down, I ate it up. If you are looking for light and fluffy pass this one up but if you are looking for delightfully sinful...this is it 100%. I highly recommend, it was so so good!
* I received an ARC from GRR, this is my open and honest review *
In a postapocaliptic world we meet Viggo a thousand years vampire and his progenie in a mission masquerading as priests, with easy access to blood in the people they have glamoured and live there with them. Then comes Grey, an anomalie, he is a jinn and Viggo has wished for him. Grey is Viggo slave there to make real Viggo wishes, but what he doesn`t know is that Grey sees far more deep in his soul that expected. Grey changes things, but change sometimes hurts and the mission will never be the same. This book was well written, the changes in Viggo are believable, the cruelty of humanity more and the hidden enemy not so hidden. I liked this book and will read the second part of the duology
Viggo makes a wish but doesn't expect anything to happen from it. When Grey shows up, Viggo knows he is different. Viggo and Grey have a complicated relationship that develops over the story. Viggo is a vampire, and the world has had a catastrophe that has killed off most humans, so he and his vampire children pose as priests to keep their humans safe so they can have a steady food supply.
This book had interesting world-building, and I enjoyed the story for the most part. A few parts were pretty extreme, so pay attention to the trigger warnings in the book. Has a bit of a cliff hanger ending.
3.5 I read this against my will. LOL. I had to read it for a challenge, I don’t generally like horror, but I do like vampires. I thought it was ok. It reminded me of a lot of different things. Probably one of my issues was the name Viggo. Every time I read it all I could think of was Viggo Mortensen when he was in the movie The Road. Apropos I guess since this is dystopian and there are few humans left. Add in a Jinn and you have an interestingish story. It does end on a cliffhanger so if you don’t like that then pass this by.
At first, I didn't care for Viggo... At all. I did like the Jinn, though, and thought he was getting overabused. But once I was past the halfway point of the book, Holy Moly! Things started getting quite interesting, more fast-paced. The end, though? I'd have to see where I could get a PDF or EPUB copy. It's the only way I could finish the story, because that end sucked donkey balls. Left me hanging in limbo. I wish it had a TBC somewhere in the description or at least the first few pages of the book. Overall, a good story.
This book was just SO good! Seriously I literally couldn't put it down. The main characters Viggo and Grey were so well matched. The excellent character development helps you bond with Viggo even though he was very dark and endear you to Grey. The unique storyline was well written and paced perfectly and I loved this world of paranormals. Looking forward to more. I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review
“Why do you… have faith in me, Grey, or is it hope?” “Maybe it’s both, Master. Maybe it’s both.”
This was a really interesting story. A morally gray one thousand-year-old vampire posing as a priest and a jinn? What a unique combination. I liked the dynamic between Viggo and Grey, liked the way their relationship developed. The story was dark and steamy and I couldn't wait to see where it would go. 4 stars.
Interesting world building, a dystopia earth where very few humans remain as the vampire frenzy has been killing them off. In comes Viggo with the realization that humans need protection or there will be no food source for vamps. So he creates a protected community for humans in return for blood. Then comes Grey, a jinn to mix things up. Not really feeling the chemistry between Viggo and Grey. But that’s not to say I won’t in the next book. Warning: it’s a cliff hanger.
I read this as part of a challenge and I don't think I would have ever come across this book otherwise. It was interesting. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. I like the dystopian world building, and the premise of the book is interesting with the vampire protecting the humans in exchange for blood. But there is a lot going on in this book. I can't decide it if all works, or if it's just too much.
Stigmata was a very dark and steamy book. Viggo and Grey were definitely well matched. Viggo was very dark but Grey could see a heart and humanity buried with in him. It was great world building and I really enjoyed the “human” characters. I can’t wait to see where this world is going. I highly recommend this book. Enjoy!
This book dragged so hard for me. There isn’t enough world building even tho it’s extremely wordy and dragged out. There is no chemistry between the main characters at all, the other vampire trying to overthrow the mmc seemed like an afterthought, and the it changed point of views randomly multiple times. Grey is the only likable character, the other mmc has no personality at all.
An absolutely amazing dystopian novel that gives us a vampire posing as a priest hiding out with his herd of human cattle getting mixed up with a genie. Dark, sexy and emotionally complex story I'm definitely glad to have found.
I was worried as I do not like my mm romance books where a clergyman is involved. But I needed not fear here. They are posing as priests. I loved everyone in this book & will most definitely be continuing with this series. Be warned it does end on a cliffhanger.
Meh, this one was just not for me. There is some interesting world building, but I had a hard time getting into the story. I really did not understand the relationship between Viggo and Grey, there was just no chemistry.
Stigmata by Rain Carrington was a riveting read. It had an unique and interesting world building with a paranormals of vampires and genie in a dystopian world. I can't wait for the next book!
Be sure to look at the trigger warnings..this is dark, has gore, violence, dubious consent among others.
it is a book one and is set in a previous world after a disease causes the fall . It can be read on its own. This one does end on a Cliffhanger so be prepared for book two.
Oh wow. If you love good grisly vampire stories. This book has it all! There is fabulous world building, amazing characters, a hate love relationship out of this world ( literally).
I loved the uniqueness of the world and characters. Not only do we have good vampire story ( bad vampires no glitter here) but we have a Jinn. The setting is dystopian and also amazing too.
Then all the twists. Wow just wow! I cant wait to read the next one!
