And I kinda was into some ridiculous smut. This book does leave me curious about the next couple in this series, Kelly and Luke 🙏🏻

It didn’t take long to finish since it’s a short novella. There’s not much to say—it delivers exactly what it promises: a fun, quick read without overthinking. Both protagonists were likable; the story doesn’t go into deep detail, but it also doesn’t leave you feeling like something’s missing.

I found both protagonists likable, the hot scenes are good and brief without feeling excessive. I think characters were well written even in such a short format. Chloe is a little nervous and dependent, leaning on Sawyer’s stability. Sawyer, on the other hand, is very much possessive, protective, and obsessive. Still, once everything unravels, you see his vulnerable side: he’s desperate, willing to beg, explain, and fight for Chloe’s forgiveness.

I couldn’t care less about the conflict with the stepbrother. It was starting to get boring. Although it was necessary for the plot of the bet to happen and be revealed, I appreciated that it was resolved quickly.

The spicy scenes are good—brief, but they fit the story and don’t feel excessive. As for the bet twist, when I think about it, it wasn’t as heavy as it could have been, so resolving it rather fast worked in favor of keeping the story entertaining.

Overall, 3 stars. It’s fine—fun for a pleasant moment, but not particularly memorable.

On her way there, Paul texts her saying it’s poker night. Chloe is confused he invited her, but she’s also excited. When she arrives, it’s Sawyer Ingram who opens the door. He helps her with her bags and pays the cab. “I got it, kitten,” he says, immediately catching her attention. She finds him ridiculously attractive.

Paul’s friends start teasing Sawyer, making comments Chloe doesn’t understand, but Sawyer quickly silences them, leaving Chloe a little scared and very curious. He helps her settle in.

Six months later

This was something—well, I didn't know what to expect, honestly. I thought it was going to have a little angst, even though it's a novella, but there's none of that here.

I didn't like the Sawyer; his bulldozing was annoying, it wasn't hot at all, at least to me. He's way too domineering, even though the revelation made it look like he lied to his wife. As someone who "messed up," it's quite ridiculous that he has the audacity to act enraged. It could be because Chloe didn't let him explain or because he felt scared for her when she ran away. Anyway, he was supposed to ask for forgiveness, right? It would be fantastic to tone down the demanding attitude. Mmmkay?

And Chloe was weak and always led by her hormones even after finding out about the "bet." I don't think it will cross my mind to be intimate with my partner if I think they have betrayed me. But Chloe's not me, so there's that. I gave up on her when she said this line: "We've been so together too long, and I have no control over my body". It's not just worth stressing over her character.

Anyway, it was a quick read, but I felt meh. I'm sure other readers could find this more up their alley, even though it's not for me.

Betting On Her was another great read that left me wanting more! I have a new book boyfriend and that is Sawyer. He’s so perfect in every way and the love he has for the fmc is everything. Now I really want a Sawyer for myself 😩. I do wish this book was a little longer with a tiny bit more angst but honestly it’s great how it is! I couldn’t put it down.
