Otra vez.
Huí. Me persiguió y mi destino quedó sellado.

🚨 Thorns of Silence is not an absolute standalone. For best reading experience, Stolen Empire trilogy would be helpful to be read prior.
I was anticipating so much for Phoenix and Dante’s story!!! Since I met them in the SE trilogy, I was immensely intrigued by their backstory.
There were so many matters developed and revealed in the trilogy, that if I hadn’t read them I wouldn’t have apprehended the build-up of their journey. Well, there were some scenes reproduced but not the critical ones.
Moreover, I wanted more time spent between the mcs and not so much apart. The amnesia miscommunication shouldn’t have lasted that long. If only Dante had talked to Phoenix earlier, the story would have had a greater impact and development. Seeing Dante stalking Phoenix and Phoenix rejecting him got boring as well as all those flashback scenes.
Query: All this time Dante and Phoenix were having unprotected sex. What was the reason he used a condom after they got married???? 🤕
The story was good, but the flashbacks somehow didn't work for me. And this happened all throughout the story; one minute it's the present time, then next it's another flashback. I don't know how to review this, so I'm just going to list some of the things that happened in the book.
1. They met when Phoenix was 17 (a few months away from 18) and Dante was 21. Obviously, this made me a little bit uncomfortable because she was a minor. But tbf with Dante, Nix lied about her age and told him she was legal. It was a young love, and despite the fact that their families are enemies, this didn't stop them from seeing each other. They were each other's first, so being a dual virgin is a plus. 😂
2. However, her grandma was against their relationship, so she planned Dante's kidnapping. He was tortured for a month (I think? Not sure about the timeline of his captivity) And when he was rescued, he changed and became full of anger, and he also lost his memory.
3. In the same timeframe as #2, Nix found out she was pregnant, and she went through this pregnancy alone. Well, her grandma knew about it and has been with her up until she gave birth. She didn't even get to hold her daughter because her witch grandma signed the baby for adoption as soon as the baby was born. She forged Nix's signature and told her it was the best for the both of them. I swear to God, if I could get inside the book, I would rip the hair off this woman.
4. Then two years passed (20/23), they met again, and Dante still hasn't regained his memories. So when he saw Nix, he treated her like he didn't know her (because that was really the case for him). Nix got mad about his behavior. She was still heartbroken that Dante left him and that she lost their baby, but it was his indifference that hurt her even more. But on the positive side, they've never been with anyone else during their separation.
5. Maybe the heart wants what it wants after all, because after they met in #4, Dante became obsessed with Nix again. He was so intrigued by her and he cannot stop thinking about why she hates his guts. He knew she was the one for him after seeing her, and he promised that she would be his whether she likes it or not.
6. Around this time too, Nix went on a lot of dates, trying to get over Dante and to piss him off so he would stop stalking her. But it didn't work because he always crashed her dates and threatened the guys to stay away from her. Also, when these guys touch her inappropriately, Dante always beat the crap out of them after their date.
7. He stalked her for months; it was subtle at first until he wasn't anymore. 😂 Nix knew all about his stalking because she could feel him every time but she didn't care because she's so angry at him. Her pride won't let her ask him why he left her two years ago. Had she only talked to him or even lashed out, they could've resolved their issue sooner. 🤷♀️
8. Anyway, something happened with Nix's sister, and this led to another three years of separation. Again, they're celibate during this second separation, and Dante's memory is still blank.
9. Dante got engaged to Nix's sister, but he planned this all along. He wants his brother to get his head out of his ass and to claim Reina (sister) once and for all. If Reina's out of the way, he can finally have Phoenix.
10. All the while this is happening, Nix is busy searching for her daughter. She got all the information from her grandmother, and she went to track down her kid. She found her, and she abducted her. 😂 The kid is 4 yo and for some reason, she's comfortable with Nix. She has a hearing disability too that she inherited from Nix. She also talks like she's older than her age and she accepted Nix as her mommy so quickly.
11. Dante eventually found them, and he was mad at first at the idea that Nix had a kid with someone. But he's willing to accept and raise her as his daughter. When he got to them, Nix pretended not to know him, feigning she had amnesia. I guess that's the running theme here.
12. The body-betraying syndrome prevailed, and they slept together without having a proper conversation. After this, Dante confessed about what happened to him five years ago and that he lost his memory. This info sucker punched Nix, and she felt guilty for all the things she did to him and for pushing him away for the last 5 years. After admitting his secret, I don't know what happened, but his memories came back and he remembered everything (shocker!). Well, according to his therapist, he's the only one preventing himself from remembering, so I guess his admission helped him.
There's no mafia-ish related stuff in this story. This is basically Dante obsessing and stalking Phoenix all throughout the book, and her pushing him away all the time. The first half of the book was honestly dragging, and I kept losing interest, but then the second half picked up eventually. This book could've been 100 pages less, imo. But I did love all the craziness of Dante and how he got it so bad for Phoenix. This guy is freaking relentless, and he never stopped his pursuit until he got Phoenix.
Anyway, this was a good book. I enjoyed the ott jealousy, obsession, and possessiveness of Dante. I just wish the amnesia issue was revealed a little earlier rather than at 90%. It took them a long time to finally address the reason for Nix's animosity. Also, the family screen time was so short. I want to see the three of them interact with each other. But with them reuniting for around 88% of the story, I guess it's way too late to have some decent family scenes.
I would still recommend this but readers have to bear with the story before it gets better.
Eva does it again with another angsty, emotional roller coaster of a ride! The quiet, deaf girl with the kinda psycho mafia man with the mysterious past.. how much better can we get? We all knew from reading the Stolen Empire series that it was going to be a doozy. I mean, we have:
✅ second chance ✅ secret baby ✅ some amnesia thrown in
It's a perfect recipe for drama 🤣. So many secrets and betrayals to uncover and some great twists really keep this plot moving, but it's really the characters that get us so invested. Phoenix always gave off the quiet girl vibes in the other books, but she was surprisingly wild, fierce, and can be unforgiving. You really don't want to mess with someone who is important to her. Dante is definitely perfect for her. Her childhood protector, Dante is hot tempered and impulsive, but sees all of her and wants no one else, even when she hates his guts, lol. And Phoenix totally calms his crazy. This was really just a wonderful read - you won't be disappointed!
I know you love Skye, but this child would be yours in every way. Yours and Branka's" 🤮.

Woah Dante and Nix, woah! I heart, heart, heart this book so much!
I got to hand it to Winners, she knows how to write a painstakingly slow-burn romance (and write it well). I couldn’t put it down even though I usually can’t deal with prolonged romantic build-ups in my reads LOL. That’s how much I was deeply invested in this story.
It reads well as is, but if you have time (and the patience), I really recommend reading the Stolen Empire Trilogy before starting this one as it makes their world-building and the overall reading experience so much fuller. The stories interconnect, with parallel timelines and events occurring.
I went into this book with certain notions of what I could expect to see, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover the storyline told from different perspective. Dante and Phoenix have a second chance at love and their story focuses on getting to THAT chance. It was very much a new beginnings narrative as opposed to their HEA. I ended up liking the concept of Dante and Phoenix rekindling their relationship and concluding on a “open” ending, but a part of me does wish there was a more definitive epilogue included; one that took them several years into the future.
With some of Dante’s story having been mentioned in the Stolen Empire Trilogy, I was dreading to learn the full truth of his dark past, but it wasn’t at all as brutally detailed as I had mentally prepared myself for. Dark themes are present, but in comparison to Winners’ other books, I’ve read grittier backstories. Nonetheless, it does still contain sensitive subject matters that may be triggering or disturbing for some readers. It broaches on kidnapping, violence, and torture—all resulting in severe mental, physical, and emotional trauma. But the events themselves are not in-depth. It also deals with an unplanned pregnancy. This book is intended for readers 18+ only.
If you love crazy, if you enjoy tons of fiery banter, and if you like a little game of cat and mouse… Dante and Phoenix will give you all that and more! Going back and forth from past to present, I was totally immersed in their story. Dante and Phoenix both have quite complex character growths. Seeing the direction their lives headed over the years, the angst and heartbreak, the anticipation of secrets being divulged all contributed in one gripping book with a slight heftiness to it.
It’s well-paced storytelling, told from dual POVs, and there was a never a dull moment. I want to say although there are some dark elements, it has more of a pensive atmosphere throughout. Dante and Phoenix are broken, flawed people that are perfectly matched together. There’s a real sense of authenticity to their relationship and despite the madness surrounding them, time seems to stop still whenever they’re close. I constantly craved for their next interaction.
It’s part fun, giddy-inducing romance, part heartfelt connection. I loved seeing the friendships, familial dynamics, and the diversity in characters, especially Phoenix’s uniqueness within this in-depth mafia world. It’s evident time and effort has been put into ensuring realism in Phoenix’s traits. It’s different for everyone, but speaking from my own experience of having a relative with a similar condition, I found the various forms of interactions with Phoenix all relatable in one way or another.
This is one of favourite books from the series, and one of my favourite storylines from Winners’ interconnecting dark, mafia world. It has unpredictability, suspense, and swoon-worthy romance. There are also some hilarious one-liners and scenes that had me chuckling. The usual character crossovers and Easter eggs I’ve come to look forward to seeing in Winners’ books without fail add the double cherries on top of another well-thought-out, well-written love story.
Dante Leone is a dream. In my honest opinion, he is one of Winners’ morally-grey heroes that lived up to his hype.
All in all, I’m left sighing in happy contentment. It’s a heart-fluttering addition to the Thorns of Omertà series. It’s a must-read for lovers of mafia romances. Those who adore reading about possessive heroes and gutsy heroines who butt heads, will absolutely love Dante’s and Phoenix’s chemistry. Snap, crackle, and pop, people!
"The thorns of silence dug into every inch of my flesh, leaving me exposed and bleeding."
Meet my FAVORITE couple: Phoenix Romero and Dante Leone.
"This. Woman. She’d either be my greatest love or my biggest downfall. There’d be nothing in between. Not when it came to Phoenix Romero." "Dante might be unconventional. Crazy even. But he was mine and I was his. Our love was born from silence and shadows. Together we made noise and found the light."
I loved every single thing about this couple. I have been waiting for their love story since the very beginning. Every time Phoenix and/or Dante would come on the scene, I needed to know more and more.
"If I were sane, I would keep my distance. But I wasn’t. So like the devil that I was, I started feeding the flicker of fire that had awakened in me. I’d burn with this girl, and together we’d create the most magnificent hell."
Dante was definitely a little - okay, A LOT - unhinged. He was driving the crazy cakes mobile at full speed. But along with that fierce insanity, also comes a fierce love for Phoenix. From the moment they locked eyes as kids, there was no going back for him. He's may be a little off kilter, but he loves Phoenix the only way he knows how to: loads of stalker tendency, smidge of dirty humor and a whole castle full of unwavering love for her.
“Why are you always hanging around me?” “You make my heart beat faster. That’s why. And my d*ck wants you. Literally.”
They were both so very broken, almost shattered to the point of non-repair. But they put each other together piece by piece. Phoenix lived up to her namesake, rising from the ashes and flying in an open sky of fire and smoke. And Dante's inferno scorches not only her bedsheets, but deep in the depths of her soul.
“Why do you keep calling me Nix?” “Because you’re my light and darkness. My temptress.”
And we get another cameo from my other main man. Can not WAIT for his and Athena's book!
"Manuel stated, eyeing me with a suspicious gleam in his eyes. The fucker must have been watching Athena and picked up on something. It didn’t escape me the way he eyed her, like she was his next meal."
With each book, this series keeps getting better and better. I am immersed in the world that Eva Winners writes. How many books will be in this series? Will there be a next generation storyline? I guess I just have to keep reading!

▪️ Eva, Eva, Eva! As usual, you do not disappoint with your books! From the first page I was hooked and I really couldn't put this book down, I devoured it in a few hours and I just wanted more🫶🏼 Dante was everything I thought and knew he would be! He stole my heart in "Stolen Empire Trilogy" and he still owns it!!! Dante & Phoenix’s story was filled with love but also so much heartbreak... You could do nothing but suffer with them and then cheer with every fiber of your being for the two of them to finally have their happy ending. If there was anyone who really deserved a happy ending, it was those two and boy what a fantastic ending they got!❤️ So please DO NOT hesitate to read this book! I can promise you that you absolutely will not regret it😘
📌 “You and me, Nix. We could set off fireworks. Fuck, we are the fireworks.”📌
▪️And to dear Eva! Thank U so much for letting me continue on this magical book journey with you and that I get to be one of your ARCreaders! You are such an incredibly talented writer and I just CAN'T wait for the next one.🖤

Dante and Phoenix’s story is one I have been waiting for and right from the start I was hooked. Answers to questions that have been lingering for so long were given, thank you.
A look into Dante, pre the Dante mafia man we readers know him as, is such an eye opening insight into the real him. It explains so much and as gradually more and more is revealed I liked him more and more. Yes, he’s a bit psycho but there’s so much more to him, we could tell from previous books that teased us with snippets but this books shares all of the secrets.
Phoenix is much stronger than people credit her and in this story we see why she went from the trusting, gentle, innocent eighteen-year-old to the determined young woman with an exceptionally strong backbone—because she had too.
The chemistry between Phoenix and Dante is incredible and yet she continued to push him away for a couple of years through sheer willpower. Dante recognises and accepts Phoenix, the real Phoenix and not who everyone believes her to be. Likewise, Phoenix is Dante’s stabiliser, she is capable of calming his temper and settling by a touch alone.
With twists and turns, betrayals and surprises galore this book keeps you absorbed from cover to cover. I loved this story and truly didn’t want it to end. If you are new to this author or this mafia world I urge you to go back and read the previous three books in the ‘Thorns of Omertà’ series. In fact, every series Ms Winners has written is gold!
“Thorns of Silence” is be story of Phoenix and Dante.
Heroine has genetic hearing loss, and is a gifted musician. Years ago, her heart was shattered by the hero, and she is forced to give their child up. Their story resumes with the hero having amnesia,, reentering her life- and getting obsessed with her.. again. She is reluctant and hateful, he is persistent. Their will-they-won’t-they spans five years- in which the heroine remains unaware of his memory issues and believes he abandoned her. Secondary character drama ensues, the hero tries to move on and fails and the heroine finally discovers their child, but is it too late? Also all the sex scenes are at the heat of the moment, and the fake amnesia and marriage plot felt abrupt .
Maybe because I read skyes story first- this one gave me a brief insight on all four of her parents. I just felt sad for everyone in the book- including the surrogacy offer which made little sense to me. It also annoyed me that his memory took five years to recover, that he tried to move on and that poor Skye was bounced around four insane parents.
Started out great but did fizzle at the second half.

Per daug amnezijos vienoje knygoje. Aš turiu amneziją, tu turi amneziją, mes visi turime amneziją, bet nėra ko bijoti, nes meilė sugrąžins mums atmintį 😍👍.
I have to stop doing this to myself. I genuinely wonder if this is an early AI written book as it’s quite clunky & very cliché
While the story could have been really interesting- Dante lost his memory & doesn’t understand why he’s so drawn toward Phoenix- it’s told through too many flashbacks anytime anything interesting is about to happen. We have to relive their early, secret, romance to explain their current relationship. Understandably Phoenix “hates” Dante as she doesn’t understand why he abandoned her & also caused her to lose their baby when it was put up for adoption. Feeling overwhelmed with the jumping around & multiple plot lines? You haven’t seen anything yet.
All the flashbacks are just an excuse to throw in a load of intense sex scenes… intense, but not interesting. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I skipped them because they felt too “mafia romance s*x by numbers” I just wanted the story to get going.
It’s aggravating allllllll the way through to about 80% when I found myself thinking- Wait… isn’t this a standalone story? How is everything going to get wrapped up in 20%?! Let me tell you. 3 sentences. A sudden burst of memories. A weepy apology on her behalf for not telling him, or knowing he genuinely didn’t remember their time together.
Worst of all- every other character written in this universe makes an appearance. I said in an earlier review I was struggling to keep them all in check & I’ve definitely been tipped over the edge now. Couldn’t follow it. Didn’t care. So much of what’s included in this book is irrelevant description & repetition. There’s a moment at the end where Dante & Phoenix have been reunited with their daughter & all hell breaks loose as she was adopted by others who come back to claim her.
Explosions, death, major fight scenes etc etc & then wait- problem solved. Let me keep my child & I’ll be your surrogate. Yeah ok. Happily ever after. The End. It is truly ridiculous how the whole drawn out plot is wrapped up in the final 3% of the book.
Dante & Phoenix. We suspected what kind of past they had while reading the Stolen Empire trilogy and now we finally learn all the details. I really think someone must read it after the trilogy, otherwise some things won’t make much sense. In fact, the present timeline is common with the trilogy. I say present because this couple has a history that is presented to us via flashbacks. Numerous flashbacks. I think I’d prefer if the book was divided in past/ present parts because it was slightly tiring. We didn’t get to enjoy much of them together in the present.
So… Dante is a weird MC. Has been through some stuff, has issues and seems to become obsessed with our FMC without much explanation. And there are heavy stalker vibes 😉
Phoenix is definitely not my favourite FMC. I didn’t fully understand her attitude and it became even more inexplicable near the end.
I wasn’t convinced why they didn’t ask questions. Either of them. Dante had been getting hints from like everywhere but never tried to dig deeper.
The resolution came too late in my opinion. I wanted more. I think we deserved more.
But I did like the appearance of other characters of the universe.
Was this one of those books where i wanted to rage, cry and scream, all at the same time? Yes! This was an amazing book, and i loved it a lot! You may wonder why not full 5 stars then, well, i wanted more! While the book covered a lot of Dante’s and Phoenix’s story, i wanted more of them. They were amazing characters and i just didn’t want their book to end. Plus I need an extended epilogue, just 10 months later is not enough!!!
Now, if you’ve read previous books you might have had some theories of what was going to happen, and trust me some secrets and twist were just wow!! Now, don’t get me wrong but i’m not a fan of misunderstanding or second chance trope, but damn, there were so many of those here and i was enjoying it!
Get ready to to know about phoenix and Dante, those are are amazing together and you just can’t not love them! Phoenix’s character growth was amazing during the book and i loved how she finally stood up to her grandma and went after what she wanted!
Mind blowingly amazing!! Dante and Phoenix just became my absolute favorite couple in my favorite Eva Winners book. The way you could feel Phoenix’s emotions come off the page as you read was everything. The same for Dante’s struggle with his lost memories and his body remember her even when his mind didn’t. Everything about their story was real and thoughtful in the best ways. Young secret love turned to hate and back to an amazing love. I was not prepared for the villain their Grandma turned out to be but looking back I see it.
I knew I would like them after The Stolen Empire Trilogy but I wasn’t prepared for how much! I’m always surprised by the perfect detail and time line matching when it comes to the mention of scenes from prior books. At the same time you don’t feel like you’re reading the same scene again. I don’t know how I’ll get over them!! Eva Winners you are amazing.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4.70 only because I needed both of them in the endamd this ten months was not enough🤧
I was not ready for Phoenix and Dante story! This book was rollercoaster of emotions that drained me to the last drop.
Heartbreak, secrets and so much more was happening, but Dantes obsessed with Phoenix was like no ones before! Phoenix mysterious life was gripping me with both hands,in every moment wondering what was going to happen next. I was in heaven that I read again about the other characters from Eva world. Especially from my first series that I have read by her. She for sure again mesmerized me with her writing, and totally consumed me with even page. Definitely is worth every page in her Mobsters world😎
Phoenix and Dante’s story will have readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. Phoenix’s strength, beauty, courage and heartache jump off the page, making readers feel like they are right there beside her throughout her tumultuous journey. The version of Dante readers love, despite his bit of “crazy” is balanced with flashbacks of a Dante from the past, and a window into the soul deep pain he has lived through, which changed him forever. A couple that has experienced some of the worst life has to offer, by people they trust most, but still comes out the other side whole and capable of love, even if there are a permanent “dents” that show.
Wow... Oh, my heart... I'm in tears. Eva does it again! This book was absolutely incredible, but I expected nothing less from the author! I don't think my heart will ever be the same.
This book was an emotional roller coaster. My heart feels like it has been shattered into pieces. Phoenix and Dante’s story is such an incredible, beautiful, emotionally charged love story that took hold of my heart from page one and didn’t let go til the end and I still can’t quite get it out of my heart and head and it’s been 4 days since I finished the book.
This book had me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning. I fell in love with Dante back in the ‘Stolen Empire Trilogy’ and now I think I love him even more if that’s even possible… and I get it, that’s messed up because he’s a bit of a psychopath… but hear me out, in this book, we got to see more to Dante than the Mafia Man we’ve known him as and we got to see more of man he was before he became the mafia man he is. It was such an eye-opening experience and absolutely heartbreaking the things that he has been through and the fact that he was kidnapped and brutally tortured has messed his mind up more than most people would or could understand unless they went through it themselves. Alongside the amnesia that has left patches in his memory and has led him to forget events before being kidnapped. It’s when Phoenix comes into the picture and he becomes infatuated and obsessively drawn to her that you see him hanging on to reality and his sanity by a thread.
Phoenix always came off as the quiet and innocent one to me in other books but oh my god, how wrong I was! In this story, she is anything but that! She’s wild, she’s free-spirited, passionate, fierce and answers to no one. She isn’t someone you want to get on the wrong side or hurt someone she cares about.
Even though these two seem to hate each other with a passion, it’s pretty obvious that there is chemistry and the chemistry between these two is explosive, intense to say the least. Dante and Phoenix’s story is filled with passion and love yet there is so much heartache and pain. It was a rollercoaster ride of emotions. One minute my heart was being ripped to pieces and the next the author was piecing it back together. I couldn’t help but cheer these two on and it made my heart happy to see them get the happy ending they deserved.
There were so many twists and turns in the book, my head was spinning constantly. So many secrets, lies, and betrayals but ultimately, love wins and conquers all and what started as a heartbreaking, dark and torturous story has turned into a beautiful love story that will stay in my heart for a long time to come.
As the saying goes it’s always the quiet ones you’ve got to watch out for, something that the heroine Phoenix makes clear in Thorns of Silence. She might’ve been profoundly deaf since childhood, but she just might be the most dangerous heroine of the bunch especially when it comes to protecting those she loves. She’s fierce to the bone and doesn’t do second chances, something Dante Leone finds out to his cost even if he can’t remember his first chance. Dante is one step away from being a full-blown psychopath. Being kidnapped and brutally tortured did something to his mind. Along with amnesia making him forget events prior to his abduction, he’s clinging onto his sanity by his fingertips but there’s something about Phoenix that obsessively draws him to her like a moth to a flame. The chemistry between them was electric and even when this pair seemingly hated each other they couldn’t keep away and the air between them sizzled.
In an angsty and emotional fast paced story spanning several years in the lives of the hero and heroine I was completely absorbed from the opening chapters. The plot itself was full of mystery and suspense; intrigue and danger; heartbreak and new beginnings making Thorns of Silence everything a great mafia romance should be. Secrets and lies abound and the villain of the piece came as a complete surprise to me and, with the story overlapping with previous books it was also good to see characters and events from a different perspective and, of course it wouldn’t be an Eva Winners book if she didn’t leave her readers wanting more and the revelation of Phoenix’s grandmother having a secret past has certainly done that for me. I can’t wait to read where this new thread goes.
Gracias a Sirenas y a Lucy ❤️ #LcAmantedelalectura

Holy roller coaster! I will definitely be on a book hangover after this one. In the first two pages, I was hooked. All the pieces of the other omerta books have fit together. And I am so excited to read the next book! I'm sad that I have to wait 9 months! The only thing I will say, is there was a part in the book, around the middle, where I was just like "get to the point" but then it picked back up again and I could not wait to finish. I finished it in one day and I will definitely be reading it again. This might be my new favorite from the series. This book can be a standalone, but I recommend reading the entire series before this one. It will just make so much more sense, the character development will be understood so much better. 10 out of 10 recommend!
Well, this book was very different . It was an extended version of story after Amon’s trilogy. The past and the present events were intermingled and though I am not fond of these type of writings, this story was very interesting from the first page. All the characters, their relationship, the banter, everything perfectly led to the ending. This wasn’t a normal story, like we normally read about, unless u have read the previous books u won’t be able to understand this at all , but I liked how interconnected all these events were and the ending was soo soo good. Damn impressed Miss Eva.
