Cassiopeia Aberra had her whole life ahead of her, and Talien, her snarky high school best friend, had finally kissed her. But that happened so long ago.
Cass couldn’t even remember the last time she’d had a real conversation with Tal. In college, they’d almost connected again, but Talien had a talent for keeping everyone—or maybe just her—at arm’s length.
Now, she’s headed back to town after finding her ex in bed with his trainer, and Talien is the first one—okay, the only one—she texts for a ride home from the station. He responds immediately, like he always does when she gathers the courage to reach out, and she lets that little blossom of hope bloom in her chest again.
Maybe this time, they can find their way back to what they’d lost so long ago or, at least, find out why they lost each other in the first place.
Talien Vale has been in love with Cassiopeia since she first brushed Niles aside in the cafeteria and plopped down next to him at lunch freshmen year.
He knew then that she was out of reach. The daughter of the most prestigious Zara family in the city of Dhalia, let alone the country, and though his family was well-off, Tal doesn’t have a drop of magical blood in his family line. Nope. Prova, through and through. But that hadn’t stopped him from falling. Hard.
After college, he tried to move on, tried to cover up the hole in his chest, tried to tell himself that it’s not from losing her, tried to fill every waking moment with something to make the emptiness go away. But it doesn’t help. It never has.
And now, he’s on his way to pick her up from the train station, and he knows things will be easy. They’ll spend the ride to her family’s home talking like old friends, flirting harmlessly—as they always do—and that will be that. That’s all it will ever be.
A forbidden romance between lifelong friends that will keep your pages turning through to the end.
Hannah began her professional career as a music major. She observed one middle school choir class and quickly learned that a life as a choir teacher wasn’t the path for her. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. After undergraduate school, she spent four years working as a salesperson and working on her master’s degree. Hannah received her master’s just in time for the worldwide pandemic, which left her open to explore what it was she wanted out of her career and, well, life.
Like many readers who loved young adult fantasy in middle and high school who took a years-long break, the pandemic threw her back into her love of reading and writing again full force. Since then, she has taken the chance to pursue something she truly loves. She gave up on the idea of making a living out of singing or literature when she was a child, and now, as an adult, she sees that the only thing between her and success in the things that she loves is her own self-doubt, and there is no longer space in her life for that kind of negativity.
Hannah has goals of sharing her stories and art with people who need those things most in their lives.
This seriously was the best surprise of a book. Hannah Danielle and K.F. Starfell are seriously a dynamic writing pair!
I was privileged to have been given this arc and I will be honest I didn’t think I was going to enjoy it nearly as much as I did. And I LOVED IT. I went in expecting rom com Christmas book. But found this amazing rom com, urban fantasy, with some Christmasy stuff book.
The characters are so lovable, and I do mean you want to grab their shoulders and shake some sense into them from time to time. I was honestly disappointed that there wasn’t more to read right now. I miss my new book friends already!
Figure You Out is about Cassiopeia and Talien. Two individuals that have been insanely close with each other and had feelings for the other since high school. But when Cass had to flee her hometown, Tal stayed behind. When she has to come back to town years later; they both are forced to come to terms with their feelings, what was left behind, and what stands now.
I honestly had to wait a whole day after finishing this book to write this review because… wow. This is so full of SUCH great quotes, romance, slow burn, hidden love, and so much more. I literally was sitting reading and wanting to scream at the characters “JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER” which always has me invested and reading so fast I can barely keep up. This was a book I would read in one sitting and still read again in a month because I miss the characters and want to see it all unfold again. So if you’re debating reading this novel, PLEASE DO SO! You won’t regret it.
"They're only concerned when i'm self-destructing? Has it ever been anything but?" This was so much more than I expecting I loved the dual pov. The history between them, the secrets... The way they melt for each other and let control go swoon. I mean come on throw a good girl in and whats not to love! Also the romantasy books comment Gold star content.
Cass's and Taliens relationship is heartbreaking yet so beautiful. I felt my heartstrings being pulled at every turn and I cried and I laughed with them.
I love the magic and kind of the subtlety of it in a contemporary setting which made the christmas setting even more magical. Cass's magic is beautiful and how she uses it makes me want it as well ✨️
This book has everything you could want in a holiday story. The characters are all so amazing and the banter! It had me hooked from beginning to end. It's sweet then the spice hits and wooo! The cookie scene! The ending was beautiful and it was such a well earned HEA for Cas and Tal. I'm telling you, you won't regret reading this.
I lost it at chapter 26. Everyone is stupid, and act like teens instead of folks approaching thirty. Personalities are inconsistent and to the whim of the story. There's so much background that gets told instead of shown, and done in such a disorganized way that I didn't care by the time it made sense.
I cannot even begin to tell you how much I loved these main characters. The banter was stellar and the personalities were on point. Like a hallmark movie with better tropes. I legit couldn’t put it down and read like 80% of it in 7 hours
Such a good read! Immediately loved the main characters and their friends. Feel like I went through a whole journey with the characters and couldn't put it down or stop thinking about them
Completely different that Hannah Danielle’s other books. But so good. Quick banter. Likeable characters. A fun quick read for the holiday season when we are all so busy!
