With war threatening large on the Korean Peninsula, two massive convoys have departed Chinese ports. Dubbed the Northern and Southern invasion fleets, this collection of warships, landing vessels, and merchant ships are aimed straight at the island nation of Taiwan.
First though, they must cross the Taiwanese Strait. Past the twelve-mile limit of China’s territorial boundaries, American submarines and bombers are waiting to pounce. Attempting to vie for supremacy with the United States, China rapidly built up its blue water fleet. Will these modernized destroyers and frigates be able to fend off the American threat? Or will America’s years-old dominance prevail?
John O'Brien is a former Air Force fighter instructor pilot who transitioned to Special Operations for the latter part of his career gathering his campaign ribbon for Desert Storm. Immediately following his military service, John became a firefighter/EMT with a local department. Along with becoming a firefighter, he fell into the Information Technology industry in corporate management. Currently, John is writing full-time.
As a former marathon runner, John lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and can now be found kayaking out in the waters of Puget Sound, mountain biking in the Capital Forest, hiking in the Olympic Peninsula, or pedaling his road bike along the many scenic roads.
I’ve anxiously awaited all the books in this series. But this one was a far disappointment to the others. The action was brief and underwhelming. Almost 70 pages was spent on just a single missile attack alone. Almost 1/3 of the whole book. And there were a few editing errors…e.g. Carl Vincent instead of Carl Vinson.
This one, I think, missed the mark of the others in the series. Hopefully, the next one will redeem this one. I was quite surprised by the lack of depth in this one.
Another awesome read. The battle between China and the US for Taiwan's freedom is still going strong with massive losses on all sides. This scenario could become true as China still insists on reclaiming Taiwan for itself. A must read for fans of the military/warfare genres. Looking forward to the next book in this great series.
More books are needed. I'm hooked! After finishing this one, I'm already feeling the effects of withdrawal.
Seriously though, amazing writing!
John has some serious talent, and it really shows in this series. I'm usually really reluctant to purchase books, but I'm pre-ordering the next one as soon as it's available.
