Struggle to Read
First and foremost, I am disappointed at the lack of clear trigger warnings. The author notes in the beginning that TW’s will precede every chapter and the story shows the line between love and abuse. While I do not have a problem reading anything, I know that not everyone shares my views and using a blanket statement at the beginning that “there is heavy (B) (D) (S) (M) that is sadomasochistic at times” does not give readers a true understanding of what they’re getting into with this book.
The overall plot line was great, showcasing a future dystopian society that has used the Dom/Sub culture as their basis after a horrible war occurred. However, it’s overshadowed by the overindulging use of sex scenes (I can’t even believe I’m saying that lmao). The plot is slow building and completely nonexistent throughout most chapters. For a 452 page book, I was expecting the plot to be more apparent and not just an afterthought. Again, this is only my opinion and I encourage readers to form their own opinions.

Wow, just wow. This is spicy. Very well written. Lots of really sexy scenes. My favorite character is Dolly, and can't wait till her book comes out. John hit it out of the park on this one. Can't wait for more.

Love this Book!
It’s a dystopian future fantasy read full of world building, political intrigue and romance. It’s beautifully written and the characters and dynamics being established are unique and empowering. The only thing is, its heavy in BDSM and spice, which may not be for everyone. I can’t wait to read the next in the series.
