He met his destined mate too soon.

Bold, kind, and adventurous, Kiara was everything Volcair needed in his stiff, formal life. Along with his pet inux, Cypher, the three were inseparable during Volcair’s years on Earth. But the same winds of fate that brought them together as children tore them apart again. With half a universe separating them, years sped by, and Kiara seemed lost to him forever. Angry and bitter, he threw himself into military service for the Entris Dominion, seeking escape from the pain of loss.

When chance brings them together again nearly two decades later, Volcair finds that his feelings for Kiara have only grown—he needs her. Have they been granted a second chance, or has time opened a rift between them that cannot be crossed?

A heart-rending story about love, friendship and fateful starcross lovers that reached one another across galaxies!🌏 🪐⭐️✨☄️ ☀️

Entwined Fates, is a rare gem that belongs to my absolute favourite and hard to find collection of alien romances that are part of the trope friends to enemies/strangers to lovers. Although, I am well acquainted with Tiffany Roberts and their writing style, I believe this one novella was so well done that is I will remember it as its own story, rather that a product of its authors.

The minor objections I have regarding the story were mostly based to my own preferences, however I believe that if the story was a bit more expended towards the end, there will be resolved. For instance, I believe that after the climax of the story we should have more scenes with the couple bounding and perhaps a bit more groveling. AND SMUT...!!! Only one and a half scenes???really???
Regardsless, I really enjoyed this one.!

They met when they were young, a bond made that would only grow stronger, but whilst Kiara was and Volcair know they are meant to be, life forces them apart for more than a decade, as Volcair's father is given a new post and Volcair has no choice but to go with his father, not realising that his promise to return to Kiara would take so long to fulfil.

This made for an enjoyably short and light read on a night where I just needed to escape my head for a bit.

A Cutesy Quick but Heartwarming Read

This was such a good palate cleanser after reading a book that threatened to put me in a reading stump. It was the perfect amount sweet, steamy and satisfying. Both MCs were quite likeable from the onset but Kiara’s fierce personality as a kid stole my heart. I love outspoken and adorable kids that unintentionally provide comic relief in stories. She was most endearing. Volcair was simply darling. The strong silent type, letting his chatterbox mate take the lead and leading him down the path to HEA in the process.

I hated how long it took them to find each other again. My heart ached for them and I was screaming at Isaiah AND Volcair that he would just not check himself. Ughhhh. Live and learn. The real star of the show is the inzu and he deserves all the rewards for his part.

The scene with Volcair and his father was emotional. I loved that he acknowledged his teenaged angst that again caused him to lose so much time with those that loved him. I loved that scene. Definitely brought tears to my eyes.

The story may have been short, but it did NOT lack the heat in its steamy scenes. Had me fanning my face and uncoiling the knots in my belly. Well done.

Not sure if these 2 show up in the other books in the series, but I’m willing to read to see if we get glimpses of them and what they are up to.

I had high hopes for this book, since I loved Arcanthus’ installment, but I was a bit disappointed. The premise was super cute, with the whole second chance romance after years spent involuntarily (mostly) apart. The MCs had their sweet moments and some solid backstories. However, I wanted more from the MCs. They had a few meaningful conversations on page, but not enough to really make me feel super invested in their love after they were reunited. Childhood love is great and all, but the amount of time they spent apart, especially since it was through so many formative years, wasn’t taken into account. People change a lot during their late teens and 20s. Both MCs had some personal growth, although a lot of the responsibility for what went wrong and the delay in reconnecting was placed on him. Why couldn’t she have taken some initiative?

Spice: 2/5

Triggers: abduction and beginning of trafficking, violence, grief from parent loss, distant parent, violence, murder

I’m usually never caught dead near books under 200 pages. It doesn’t matter who, what, where, when, or why, 200 pages is not enough time to develop a story worth reading, let alone paying for. Where I am usually caught loitering, however, is right by anything Roberts has decided to publish. I’m a huge fan on the Infinite City series. I’m a huge fan of their brand of writing in general, and when I saw this prequel, even knowing my pre-conceived notions, I decided to try it out. I didn’t dive right in. I hesitated. I vacillated. I debated the pros and cons of spending 4 dollars. But the story sounded oh so cute, and being an amazon prime member has its perks, so I chose it as my free unlimited book of the month, and then took a swan dive. Right into lovely romp through outer space.

I’ll start eating my words right here because Entwined Fates is everything I didn’t think it had the time to be. It’s sweet, a little sexy, with some definite world building, once again hinting at more areas to explore within the Infinite City. It even has some action thrown in along the way. First off, thank you Roberts for the diversity! Thank you for Kiara, our black heroine from London. Thank you for not making a big deal that she is black. Thank you for just writing a normal, intelligent main character whose skin color can be defined as brown. Although there’s not a huge amount of character development, I loved watching her grow up from a perky adolescent, to a space merchant. I’m not going to lie, her owning a space freight is delightful, and I really wish there was more to that storyline so we can delve into her piloting a ship with her crew.

I also enjoyed her counterpoint Volcair. I think when I finished Archanthus’ novel I begged for more information about the two species responsible for creating him and having one of them star is a great way of giving readers committed to the series as a whole, more information on all the creatures making up this universe. It’s also a definite plus he’s from the species responsible for the qal -which are a beautiful detail. He is sweet and wholly committed to our heroine Kiara, but I felt like there was more going on with his relationship with his father then with the heroine. They start as childhood friends, so it’s clear that they have a bond, but they spend so much of the book apart that it’s hard to really get a bead on Volcair’s feelings aside from the fact that she’s his mate and thus he loves her. Even so, it terms of plot, his relationship with his father is very nuanced, giving a peek into Volturian society.

I think I enjoyed Entwined Fates because of the layer that it adds to the series as a whole. Because of the length, the story feels a little choppy as Roberts attempts to cover a lot of ground and realistically get our star crossed lovers back together again. The scenes included are well chosen, but I do wish the story was longer so that we could really get a sense of who the characters are. I get more out of it because I’m already connected to the world and have a vested interest in the species it contains. Because I know Terrans are eventually welcome on Arthos, its exciting to watch Vantricar come to Earth to bolster relations between the UTF and the Dominion. I don’t know if someone who starts with this book first is going feel the same way though.

I didn’t take the time to mention Cypher our resident space Inux, but he’s delightfully intuitive, a great non speaking entity to pull our drifting couple back together. I wish we could see more of his shape shifting, but his creative morphing in the gun battle basically makes him Star Fox in my mind. I hope that as Roberts expands this universe they also show us more wacky companion animals, or perhaps another Inux.

I don’t know if this is going to open me to all novella length stories, but it’ll definitely broaden my horizons allowing me to check out novellas by trusted authors. Entwined Fates is a complete thought. It is crafted to make maximum use of its length. I think it would definitely strengthen with length, but as a prequel it has just enough to wet the palate. I loved the brief glimpse of Kiara the space merchant with her cyborg pet Cypher. I would love to see more of these areas explored. A fun day’s reading ***4 starlight***

Sci-fi Romance Bingo

******Danger Danger Spoilers Ahead******

Somewhere out there someone is playing romance trope bingo sci-fi edition and this book would check off a lot of boxes for that. This book contained the below tropes and I was here for it.

1. Friends to lovers
2. Fated mates
3. Virgin male MMC
4. MMC liked the FMC first
5. Second chance romance
6. Human FMC rescued by MMC from almost being kidnapped and sold in to slavery

My major con with this book was that the FMC and MMC spent 20 years away from each other after being separated as teenagers. That is the longest gap I think I’ve run across in a romance novel and I wasn’t really a fan of having both characters longing for each other that long. I personally would have preferred a 10 year gap max, but that’s just me.

I was also slightly annoyed that a lot of the blame for that was left with the MMC. Don’t get me wrong he should have gone to her when the option presented itself when it was just 11 years of separation beyond both of their control, but I can’t fully blame him based on what had been just dropped on him.

I’m not a huge fan of either of their fathers. I’ll give a slight pass to the FMC’s father as he thought he was protecting her by not telling her the MMC returned for her. The MMC’s father I can’t say the same for as he blatantly ignored that FMC was his son’s mate, forced himself into believing his son’s real mate was someone of their own species and separated them which started the whole 20 years of separation when there was an option to leave his teenage son on Earth. I think I would be more forgiving of him if his species didn’t have an obvious you found your mate tell. The markings on their skin literally lights up when they see their mate and the MMC has been lighting up like a Christmas tree since the age of 9 for the FMC and his father just brushes it off… come on now.

Entwined Fates by Tiffany Roberts was a masterpiece that perfectly combined the right ingredients to create a captivating read. The book delved into the intricacies of love, longing, and the complexities of relationships.

The book also employed the perfect blend of low angst and high steam, creating an atmosphere that kept me hooked. The protagonists were easy to identify with and their emotions felt genuine. Their chemistry was palpable, adding depth and intensity to their relationship. Their interactions were natural and flowed effortlessly, making the story engaging and captivating.

Another aspect that contributed to the greatness of Entwined Fates was its seamless storytelling. The book never lagged or dragged, with each chapter propelling the plot forward. There were no prolonged or drawn out scenes, but rather a constant flow of action, intrigue, and character development. The author managed to weave a captivating tale that kept readers hooked from start to finish.

Moreover, the characters in Entwined Fates were devoid of miscommunications. Unusual in any love story, this characteristic added a layer of realism and depth to the narrative. Instead of repeating tropes or falling into predictable patterns, the characters were able to effectively communicate their feelings and understand each other's motivations. This not only made the story more believable but also enhanced the emotional connection between the protagonists.

Lastly, Entwined Fates showcased a love that fought against all odds. The protagonists faced numerous challenges, including misunderstandings, insecurities, and personal struggles. However, their love for each other never wavered. They consistently fought for their happily ever after, proving that true love can conquer all.

In conclusion, Entwined Fates by Tiffany Roberts was a masterpiece that showcased the right recipes for greatness. With its relatable characters, palpable chemistry, seamless storytelling, and lack of miscommunications, it managed to captivate readers with its intense and emotional narrative. The protagonists' unwavering love for each other was a testament to the power of true love, making this book an unforgettable reading experience.

Y’all the TROPES!

• Second-chance romance
• Star-crossed lovers
• Friends to lovers
• Fated mates

This book had soooo much going for it, and I was absolute putty while listening to the audio! Kiara and Volcair’s relationship was simply amazing. I loved the sweetness and innocence of their childhood friendship and the angst-filled reunion they had as adults. Such an amazing romance - I’m kicking myself for waiting so long to read it!

This was super cute and had me shedding a tear at midnight and staying up until I literally couldn’t read the words on the page anymore.

But I just didn’t vibe with how this 33 year old woman called her father ‘Daddy’ 🥴 and I’m glad she can say “everything’s in the past, it’s okay” but I’m a petty bitch and I’m mad at her ‘Daddy’ for her 🙃😅

ENTWINED FATES has been on my TBR for a long time and it's also my first Tiffany Roberts book. Kiara (human) and Volcair (alien) met as children because their parents were diplomats but a new assignment and the distance of space kept them apart for a long time. I liked this one alright, the writing was smooth and the spice was good, but the tropes used aren't my favorites. I wish we'd had more chapters of Kiara and Volcair as adults building their relationship rather than so much of them as kids and teenagers.

But I am looking forward to reading book 1 in the series and seeing more of the Infinite City and all the different aliens that inhabit it.

Content Warning: references to human trafficking; extended separation of the MCs

Wow. Just wow.
This book made me cry and it’s barely 150 pages.

I always find it hard to rate novellas. I think hmm maybe the book is bad because it’s so short?
Well I’ve been wrong this whole time guys. Novellas CAN be good. They can be great. They can tell stories and not just feel like empty words on a paper or screen.

That’s what I felt when I read this. The beginning telling the story of how they met and when they were children. My favorite. It was so sweet witnessing young love. Everything about it was so sweet.

Now I don’t have to feel bad giving the other novellas I read 1.5 and 2 stars. Because I’ve read an amazing one.

Ok listen. It wasn’t terrible. I mean it was a mile from good but it wasn’t terrible. My big beef is that it’s just an underdeveloped romance that happens to have an alien in it. If I’m picking up an alien romance I expect world building. I expect more Alien than ooo he’s blue. Cmon.

Separately the only thing more baffling than the MMCs Irish accent is its disappearance about 3/4 of the way through the book. I literally double checked to see if this as AI because i really expect a human narrator to be more polished in their craft and choices.

2 stars feels generous tbh.

I loved Entwined Fates by Tiffany Roberts, prequel to the Infinite City series. It had everything I look for in Fantasy/Sci-fi Space Opera Romance novels - action, romance, battles in space, good overcoming evil, the “guy” gets the “girl” - with a Sweet HEA. :D I highly recommend this novel to readers of fantasy/space opera romance, action/adventure romance, shifter romance and/or contemporary romance, and readers who enjoy positive stories (with low angst) and sweet HEAs. Entwined Fates was a delight to read! I reread parts of it twice. Entwined Fates can be read as a standalone title but I intend to check out the next book in the series.

Entwined Fates is about a young alien-race boy, Volcair/MMC and a human girl, Kiara/FMC who grow up on earth together and become dear friends. (Her father is an ambassador representing earth and Volcair’s father is a political dignitary from his home world and their planetary system). POTENTIAL SPOILER: Their friendship is torn apart when Volcair’s father is reassigned to a new location - Volcair is 18 and Kiara is just 14. MANY YEARS OF SILENCE pass until a chance crossing of their paths.
Volcair’s and Kiara’s story is one of the sweetest I’ve read in a long time.

Entwined Fates is a 2nd Chances, Fated Mates space opera story that I read from the Pets in Space4 anthology novel. (Pets in Space has been a wonderful vehicle for meeting new-to-me authors in a genre of my liking. I highly recommend readers watch for the next Pets in Space release. 10% of proceeds from the sales support the non-profit organization Hero Dogs which provides service animals to veterans and 1st responders so it was a Win/Win purchase regardless). :D
After completing Entwined Fates I immediately looked for other titles by Tiffany Roberts, purchased a few and scooted the titles I already owned to the top of my tbr stack. :D

Reader Caution - not recommended for YA readers due to the following.
Sexual situations - yes. The 2 main characters have on-scene intimacy in the final chapters of the story. It is not particularly graphic but may offend some readers and IMO isn’t appropriate for YAs. (That section perhaps 2 or 2.5 on 0-5 Very Sweet to Very Steamy scale).
Profanity - yes. Strong but very infrequent (less than 5 times).
Violence - equivalent to space odyssey series, orig Star Trek, etc. with blasters.

2.4 - 2.5

Too bitter than sweet to be satisfying. The angst! Ugh...There was just too long of a time between reuniting for me to feel satisfaction even when they reunite and HEA after like, two decades.

Vague-ish spoilers below:

For him to not even check on her and Cypher when he finally could after 12 years of silence, or rebelling during that time as he tended to do, to pass a message onto her in even some desperate way (whether he begged his dad to, and when he refused snuck one out or at least attempted to) is dumb and cruel. Damn, not even a letter?

When he visited, he couldn't have seen her, saw she was happy then ran off in selfish distress? Maybe she catches a glimpse of him, calls out but he's going? Nah... just zero contact or sights on each other. Quite frustrating and annoying. Was the hero really that selfish? Damn, couldn't stay friends (which you would if you truly loved someone, their happiness comes first) or even say hello to your former pet?

There should have been some sort of communication. Perhaps they meet, they argue because he's so jealous, he leaves, both regret, but can't or fear reaching out each other? IDK, there should have just been some more adulthood intersections in between. Not a 21 year by chance meeting.

The writing itself is fine, great even. I even cried when they said their goodbyes as teenagers, as it struck me emotionally. But there was no satisfaction ultimately in torturing the characters with loneliness for decades. No.

Be ready for a lot of pining and missed opportunities in this book. I love friends to lovers and this one was beautiful and painful just because of the length of the separation.

The lack of contact/knowledge of each other during the separation really highlights the lack of galactic social media in this universe. Because if it existed she would have had him locked down waaay before 20 years in the future.

It's Alright, Just Short

*****Spoilers*****

The book opens on Volcair, a nine year old vultsrian whose father is an ambassador, and is trying to talk his way out of attending yet another event with his dad. Volcair loses the battle of wills but agrees to at least one hour at the dreaded event. There, he meets Kiara, a terran daughter of earth people who's seven. She's fascinated with his face because it glowed so she touched his qal, the facial markings his blue skinned people have that denote their clan. From there, the book follows them a little as they grow up and Volcair when they're older asks Kiara for her premise to wait for him which she readily agrees. Unfortunately, in all the time she's waiting, she doesn't hear from Volcair at all and gets engaged eventually when she gives up, I can't remember how long she waited but it was over a decade. Volcair was in service to the military and unable to communicate with her all that time and when he returns to her parent's home for Kiara, Volcair finds out about her engagement. Thinking he shouldn't interfere with Kiara's happiness, Volcair leaves without seeing her.

Several years later, Kiara is the captain of a ship that gets overtaken by pirates. She's for sure to be sold as a slave but her ship doesn't have the fuel it needs for the pirates to escape without stopping at a space station. Volcair just happens to be at that space station and takes a particular interest in the ship after his specialist flagged the ship for review and Volcair saw Kiara's name. Good thing he did because he saves her and crew from the pirates. Kiara is not married, she couldn't go through with it after she felt she was betraying Volcair in her relationship with her fiance. Volcair and Kiara then get together for real as adults in a way they hadn't been able to as children. Kiara is Volcair's mate and he wasn't able to move on to anyone else in the time they were apart.

It's a cute story but too short, I'd have liked it to be longer for my selfish purposes but it could also use more detail. Kiara and Volcair get their happy ending eventually but it would've been nice I think if they'd had more time together without that huge gap in time.

Marvelous read !!!!

Oh......
.......MY !!!!!!
What a freaking Amazing Story !!!!! I did read this story in the Pets in Space anthology, and enjoyed it immensely !!!
Months later , when the writers get the story back and get to add to it , I wasn't able to get it for financial reasons. And I honestly have all of these authors books !! Every single one ..... So I was beyond happy to finally be able to get it , and What a read !!!! I did hear that this wasn't one of the more popular of their works, but it totally should have been !!!!! Its remarkable !!

I felt for these two when they were precious children , and all of the angst and happiness was so very clear !!! How their futures progressed was a stab to my heart.......
This book , as so many of this authors books , had me feeling All kinds of ways, and I am ever so happy and grateful that I was able to add this to my bulging collection.

As children , Kiara and Vantricar met through their diplomatic parents. As the boring adults discussed matters of world issues , Kiara and Van explored their surroundings as only children can , and came to form a bond stronger then either of them knew at that time......
But of course, Diplomats can not stay where they are sent forever . They must go where their superiors demand . As Vantricar and his father 's time on Earth comes to an end, it tears apart our dynamic duo, and its heartbreaking......

Years later fate steps in and they meet again. But is it too late ??? Surely , after almost 20 years, things have changed.....Or have they???
This book also contains Cypher, an adorable hybrid pet that is part machine , part companion , and all kinds of cute !!!
This book is a wonderful addition to the infinite city series, and a joy to read !!!
So excited for the next !!!

2.50 Stars. (BW/Glowing Alien). Audible audiobook narrated by Jamie Treselyan.

Setting: Futuric. Intergalactic space travel that includes Earth.

Trope: Alien/human romance. Fated mates. Second chance romance.

Main characters:
1. Kiara, heroine, a Terran child of human parents with features of modern day black people.
2. Volcair, hero, non earthling.
3. Cypher, Volcair's pet inux.

This story has meh main characters and it's a lengthy slowly paced and predictable tale. The story starts when Kiara and Volcair are children. Volcair sees Kiara during his father's business trips to Earth. When they are teens, the know they are fated mates; however, about the same time, Volcair's father relegates Volcair to their home planet to become an ambassador or join their planet's military-Volcair choose the military. Eleven years pass before Volcair returns to Earth to reunite with Kiara. Kiara's father advises him that Kiara's moved on and is happily engaged to another man; so, to heal his broken heart, Volcair reenlists in the military. Almost twenty years will pass before a perilous incident causes Kiara and Volcair reunite, have makeup sex and marry.

I won't rate it as is the first book in a series and I won't read the rest of the books. But it really left a bitter taste in my mouth, I read this author's kraken series and I enjoyed it overall, so I decided to start this series but this is not for me.
One thing I absolutely hate is not having a proper balance in a relationship, an equal give and take... When one part gives more it just doesn't feel right.
And another thing I can't stand is too much angst, and this book had both right from the beginning.
When both main leads make their promise and only one keeps it I stopped reading, you can say that she was young, she had all her life wasted, sorry but so did he... She was 14, he was 16... He kept his word, she didn't...
I know some might say I'm too strict in my views but that's the way I am... And this book made me really mad...
I would've prefered if they didn't make any promise, if they just had to part and meet years later and realized their feelings, but the broken promise ruined the story for me... I feel awful, so I will stop reading and look somewhere else...

I wish I loved this one more than I did.

The first 50% of this story is super sweet, and I was really invested. Childhood sweethearts stories are adorable, and this one had some interesting elements in it due to involving aliens' making contact with Earth and working on diplomatic relations.

But then...

*sigh*

They grew up and...Over-done. Melodramatic. Communication error/assuming the worst of the other person happened, and my Happy deflated and fell down. The second half of this story required a lot of skimming. Bummer. I expected a bit more out of this duo than trite romance plot devices.

So. Only 3 stars when I was sure during the first half this was going to be a 4 star read. It's entertaining and enjoyable, but I've hit the point where miscommunication and willful misunderstanding make the vein under my eye tick.

Hero and heroine met as children but hero has to move due to his family’s job as ambassadors. They promise to stay committed to one another as young teens, but then the hero never comes back. The heroine got engaged to some other guy a couple years down the line and when the hero found out, he accepted it and left without talking to her (the heroine never knew that he came back only to find her engaged). So then years later as adults they meet back up and the heroine is upset that he abandoned her. She forgives him the next day because he kisses her. The end.

It just wasn’t a very fun or interesting read. I didn’t feel like the hero had enough reason to just up and leave without talking to the heroine at all. Why didn’t he just tell her he was in the military? And also why did she get engaged within a few years without verifying that the hero was even still alive? Thankfully it was short.

3.5/5 ⭐
2/5 🌶️

**Tropes**
- Childhood Friends to Lovers
- Second chance romance
- Chance meetings
- Saving the Damsel
- Cultural Differences
- Fated Mates

📖 **My Thoughts**
This was a very cute prequel to the series and I'm glad I read it. It's very sweet and almost smooth to read. You feel for the MMC who was put in an impossible position. And you feel for the FMC, who made difficult choices that didn't work out. Honestly, seeing these two come together feels good. Like fate. And as always, I enjoyed Tiffany Robert's writing.

⚠️ **Triggers**
- Minor violence and death

**Representation**
The FMC is depicted as a woman of color, but I don't remember there being a lot of reference to it to be honest. I prefer that though, I feel like we got to know her as a person, not a race.

🌶️ **Spice**
The spice in this understandably comes later on in the story, and it felt worth the wait. Nothing too crazy, but well written and enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this one. The world building was beautiful, and I loved how immersive the alien setting felt. Volcair’s glowy skin markings, the tech, the environments, all of it was vivid and fun to read about. His connection with Kiara was instant in the best way, and watching them grow up together made their bond feel really genuine and sweet.

I absolutely hated when his father tore them apart just as they were finally happy. Both of their fathers honestly frustrated me, keeping them separated for so many years when the two of them were clearly meant to be together. But I was glad everything worked itself out in the end, even if it took far too long for them to get their chance.

Cypher completely stole my heart. He was adorable and added so much charm to the story.

Overall, it was a really sweet second-chance romance with a strong fated pull between the main characters. My only complaint is that it was short and left me wanting more time with them and with this world.

I love the Infinite City series 💖💖💖

This is the second time I've read Entwined Fates, the first being in the Pets in Space anthology I love it the and I love it even more the second time around. Volcair & Kiara's story is beautiful from start to finish. Some how the authors take a short story and deliver a full tale with well throughout characters that you can't help but root for and love! And a storyline that reaches deep into your heart and pulls every emotional strong you have. You can feel the connection between the H & h it's powerful, it feels genuine never forced and the relationship beautifully unfolds to something soul deep and wonderful!.this series is by far one of my very favorites and I look forward to Tiffany Roberts creating more memorable characters, experiences and passionate love stories from the Infinite City series.💖I highly recommend you read this fabulous story!

Star

This beautiful story was shorter then other Infinite City but definitely had no less of a punch to the heart. The story is full of the love and bittersweet torment. Meeting and loving one another at a young age. Then the world of adults pulling them apart. But pain and distance can't dull the love that sparked and burned since childhood. They are given that second chance but they must embrace it or lose one another again forever. This story is definitely a shining star just like the characters.

Fated Love

I genuinely enjoyed this book. Fated mates from the beginning Kiara and Volcair meet as children and form a strong bond until their teenage years. It is clear from the beginning that they love each other but life is full of uncertainty. Volcair leaves Earth with the promise of returning to her. But he is never truly able to fulfill his promise until fate intervenes. I loved going on this journey with Kiara and Volcair and seeing the end of their story. Would definitely read this again

Kiara and Volcair - Fated Mates

4 stars…. Really 3.5. It was a good story but longer than necessary. My one and only pet peeve is that the nationalities were not capitalized. The first chapter alone has no caps on Terran nor all the other species of people represented.
I loved that Volcair and Kiara were mates from childhood. Having lost track of each other for twenty years, they met again when her ship had trouble with pirates and he and his ship saved hers. They rekindled their love and set a wedding date three months away when Volcair resigns/retires.

Sweet story

This story just gives you all the feels and is a wonderful yet light introduction to the gritty infinite city series. I am not sure how I missed this story completely until I had already read through vengeful heart and it popped up in the suggestions. Oh well. It was a neat in between break from the rest of the violence and hard fought love, even their love was hard fought in a more emotional and tender sense. Lovely story. Now back to the rest of the series. Reviewed by Who She Reads

A very bittersweet, short read. I actually felt for our male lead especially when he thought he had lost his love forever. I didnt entirely get why our female lead felt like she was betraying our lead male by getting engaged to another after waiting twelve years for him also their time apart ranged from nineteen to twenty to twenty one years??? So I'm not sure how long they had actually been apart. I felt that the way they ran into each other again after so many years was a little lame. Nevertheless it was a sweet story.
