I’m a coffee lovin’, word slinging, clean Historical Romance author whose super power is converting caffeine into novels. I love those odd tidbits of history that are stranger than fiction. That’s what inspires me. Well, that and a good love story.
I loved this story. The storyline was well thought out, and the characters were well-developed and had many layers. Some were shocking when revealed, which added lots of mystery and suspense.
The historical aspects worked well in the story, and it was obvious that the author had given them much thought. I endured the main character, Laura, and her plight in life, even with her father's community standing and position. There were many instances where I was on the edge of my seat, wondering how it would all turn out.
Laura is a story of heartbreak, mistrust, family, feelings, and faith, even when times are bleak and there seems to be no way out. The tension between the characters' developing relationships kept me engaged. I couldn't put it down. Highly recommended.
I received a complimentary copy from the author; a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed the Casey Jones infusion into the book. It was a very accurate depiction of how Casey Jones lost his life. It was a slow burn for the two main characters to finely figure out that they loved each other. I thought the character development was very good. I would highly recommend this book if you love historical fiction love stories.
I couldn’t quite relate to the characters in this book. The whole story seemed a bit confusing. One minute Laura is strong, the next she’s a meek little mouse. Do they love each other or not. They certainly do not seem to have any trust in each other. The story line was good but it needed more depth.
