Sometimes the path to happily ever after runs through all the wrong places…
Romance never did Maggie Anthony any favors. So now that she’s back in her small hometown as a divorced single mom, she plans to avoid it all together. Which would’ve been easy…if her first love hadn’t walked back into her life wanting a second chance…
Xavier Wilson doesn’t blame Maggie for hating him. His commitment issues were legendary. Now that she’s back, though, he’s determined to show her how sorry he is. He knows he doesn’t deserve her. But that won’t stop him from trying to earn her…
When all is said and done, will a little forced proximity, some neighborly rivalry, and a ton of unresolved sexual chemistry help convince Maggie to open her heart to Xavier again?

I wasn’t a fan of the writing style. Too many time gaps and felt like I was missing a lot of information. I started to think I had accidentally picked up the 2nd book because the story seemed to read like there was a whole book before this. It was hard to connect with the characters other than on the surface level.
However I still enjoyed the overall premise of the book. I appreciated that it wasn’t overly descriptive. I will continue reading the rest of the series because at this point I’m invested in their stories.
I LOVEDDDD THISSSSS. Definitely recommend I can’t say to much cuz all of it was good read it for your self 😘😘
Okay I’m lying. I absolutely loveddd itttt!! I couldn’t put it down I just had to keep reading it. Xavier was literally everything idk that may be new book bf..
No second act breakup. No crazy exs. No annoying drama, well a splash just a splash . This book was everything just playing hard to get, lust, great vibes, I loved it.
My favorite part would have to be the friend group. Love how they all came together and then moments had me screaming wishing for my own group 😩
But I’m bout to jump into book 2 I definitely look to finishing this series this week 🫶🏽
This book was technically fine but stylistically didn't work for me. It was written like a sitcom script - I never really felt like I got in the heads of the characters, there wasn't a lot of depth to them, and the dialogue didn't feel realistic. A lot of characters were introduced which was confusing getting them all straight but I can see how she is setting this up for a series where each book focuses on a specific couple. I did like the friendship and family dynamics.
There are a handful of sexy scenes but they all read the same... she was wet, condom, she came, he came, and they all lived happily ever after.
Tropes: single mom, second chance, small town CW: infidelity
The story was good. The number of characters, cousins, children, and friends, was sometimes difficult to keep an account of who was who. The c word kept interchanging with the d word during the intimate moments which had me searching for his description a few times. Overall, the story was cute and cuddly.
This was a great second chance romance by forced proximity with the group of friends decide to hangout for the weekend. They want to fight temptation but they give in again and decided to fully explore what could be regardless of how the friend group will react. I loved how you thought you knew what was going to happen, but were hit with a small plot twist. Can't wait for the remaining books in the series to come out.
This book was all over the place, it was hard to get into. It’s like the author just threw you in a scene and you had to figure out what was going on. Not to mention the countless characters that were introduced. I also didn’t buy into the relationship. There was no angst or pining. It sort of just… was
Want to hook me in on any book? All you have to do is tell me it is Best Friends' sibling crush and I will read anything. And I do mean anything. It is my absolute weakness. I don't even have a brother and yet this is my favorite trope - case in point, Wrong Places.
Right from the start we get hitting things hard and fast, yes pun very much intended here. Even through the years you could see from the reader view that Maggie and Xavier's feeling never once dwindled. They were instantly captivated with one another. More importantly they supported each other, and Xavier stepping up with Maggie and her daughter, oh man swoon me more please!
I also really love that the drama itself is real. It is believable, relatable and just freaking real.
Probably my only issue I have, well really not an issue, but simply a pet peeve is that Rhiannon and Zane were more at the forefront of everything., not that I am in the least bit opposed to this, I am beyond ready for their story, but I felt some of their input within the story could have been under shadowed more, making more room for Xavier and Maggie. But again, this is simply my personal thought, I loved the dynamics of their side characters, but would have wanted a bit more of Maggie vs. the Rhiannon.
I really enjoyed this one! Maggie was such a fierce heroine, I loved every minute of her, even given my little pet peeves, she stole my heart. Single mother, powerfully upfront, relatable on many levels. The romance, drama and delicious chemistry from start to finish was so amazing to read!
Received an eARC through author reader group in exchange for an honest review
Maggie & Xavier are part of a large group of friends. Xavier is Zanes best friend, Zane is Maggie’s older brother, and their moms are also best friends. The group of friends have all grown up together. When Maggie turned 18, she and Xavier became a couple, but Xavier broke up with her, and it became a trend for him, hook up with her for a few weeks, break up with her again, until Maggie married after college. Now maggie is back home with an adorable toddler who has everyone wrapped around her fingers, and Xavier has returned home shortly after Maggie.
The book starts a little slow, but it’s important to get to know the sub characters (friends) since they make up a large dynamic of the story.
Maggie and Xavier do get a happy ending, but not before more of Xavier’s feelings are exposed and Maggie trusts him to stay in her life and not leave. I’m excited for Rhiannon (Maggie’s best friend) and Zane’s story.
I didn’t know about Maggie and Xavier at first. It seemed like Maggie had gone through too much to jump into something so soon with Xavier. Then their story unfolds and it’s like “well maybe they should’ve been together in the first place.” You could tell the acknowledgments of past hurts made by Xavier made it easy for Maggie to build a life with him once again. They both had been through so much between their time away from each other. It just seemed like they were in the perfect position to have a chance at real love at the right time.
The plot twists had me gasping.
Zane and Rhiannon’s relationship was very interesting to read. After everything that has happened I need to see how their friendship turns out. I kept believing something would spark between them but I’ll have to see in the 2nd book.
The spice is enjoyably written.
I recommend you read this book.
4 feelings while reading this book: merry, annoyed, sorry, jubilant
Maggie and Xavier get a second chance...or was it a 4th? Well they both move back home to Rosa Oaks about the same time, but Mags is recently divorced with a 2 year old...who adores Xavier because he's her uncle's best friend and roommate and their families are super close. Determined to not "go there again" with Xavier, Mags pretends indifference, but a friend trip sends them spiraling back to their old ways. This time it's different because one talk with Zane makes Xavier see that Mags was all he ever saw when they were together and just maybe he wanted forever with her and the daughter he'd equally fallen in love with. Xavier&s character made you realize just how parents could mess you up. During his formidable years he didn't have a decent example of love which transferred over to his view of relationships. With Maggie, it was different. I'm excited to read Zane and Rhi's book. Happy Reading Y'all!💋
What I Loved: I loved the friendships and family dynamics in this book. Xavier's ability to hold himself accountable for his actions and Maggie's efforts to move past heartbreak are admirable.
What I Didn't Like: I thought Emmy's character was a bit exaggerated. I also wasn't a fan of the "c" word being used but know that that's a personal preference.
Overall, it's a solid start to the Rosa Oaks series.

I loved the first installment of the Rosa Oaks series, the way it was written is very intricate & didn't leave me wanting for anything. The family, friends & close knit social circle dynamics was very realistic & relatable. I love the gatherings, the good times, the overcoming of struggles & the spice. Maggie,Xavier & secondary characters were wonderful with the exception of some exes. I especially, adored Emmy♡♡☆she was the most precious adorable little girl. Five star☆☆☆☆☆ read.
Second chance romance for Maggie and Xavier. Years later Xavier and Maggie come face to face. He is her brother’s best friend and her ex boyfriend. Now he is back and run in the same circle of friends. I loved all the friendships/family bonds. I love Rhi and the way she stood up to Zane’s fiancée. Great second chance, brother’s best friend romance.
Maggie and Xavier had an on-again and off-again relationship. When they were younger. Then Maggie marries another man. Xavier thinks he has lost her for good. But when he hears she got a divorce. He wonders if there is hope. But he still believes he lost his chance. He then moves back to his hometown, Rosa Oaks. He sees Maggie and all those feelings for her came rushing back. But will she be willing to give him another chance? He still wants a no-strings-attached relationship. And he doesn't want to hurt her again. When their past is brought up. All the angst feelings come back for both of them. Will they both be willing to give it another go? This was a great second chance romance. I loved the childhood friends circle, they have. The supporting characters are great! I can't wait to see more of them. But they both have been through a lot. At this point in their lives. Maggie with her divorce and Xaviers childhood. I love how they both can't seem to stay away from each other. Even knowing this will most likely not work out. it has great steamy scenes. If you like second, chances you will love this book!
What a really good story. It was sweet, romantic, and just had the good feels about it while reading it. Maggie and Xavier were such a great couple together. And, having the family interactions just made the story that much better. This was a definite page-turner, and will be a re-read in my books!
This book was so refreshing! There was several places where I just knew what was going to happen, how ppl would self sabotage and crank up the angst. Nope. This book was not predictable and I am here for it. I feel in love with Maggie and Xavier so fast and they were pulling at my heart. They were just so real. Good, flawed, complicated humans, they were real.
I loved this! It was so hard to put down and I ended up reading most of it in a day. I really enjoyed the relationship between the main characters and Maggie's daughter was adorable. I loved the family and friend dynamic in here as well. I can't wait for book two!!
Super cute small town romance/ second chance at love. Maggie and Xavi were meant for each other but thier past had kept them apart, along with a marriage. But after a divorce they rekindle after coming back to the town where it all began.

3.75 stars I enjoyed Xavier and Maggie's story. I loved the village and community they created because they made it into something that worked for them. They were supported and encouraged and loved by that community 😊.
Aww., I like books like this with a happy ending. Nobody goes into a marriage with the thought of divorce but sometimes it happens but what do you do after that? The main character in this story figures it out.
Tropes: single parent, second chance romance, small town romance, brothers best friend, best friend's sibling, I see the way you look at them, mirror sex
This was a fun, solid read. I enjoyed Maggie and Xavier’s dynamic a lot. Emmy was a cutie patootie. I would definitely read the next book in this series!
