“Wingspan” is a refreshing new paranormal romance, and quite different from the usual. No vampires, werewolves, demons or magic here. Set a few years in the future, it takes a look at what genetic engineering might be able to achieve and how everyone, from the military and the government, to ambitious scientists can use it.

Chessa Dawning and Charlie Lake have a lot more in common than their looks. While the girls are suffering from the painful outcome of genetic modification, they and their friends are pursued relentlessly and, eventually, captured.

This book is filled with riveting action and nail biting suspense as the main characters, while fleeing from the men chasing them, are caught up in car chases and other life threatening situations. Despite the nonstop action there is a profound poignancy to the story. Both Chessa and Charlie have to deal with unresolved questions; questions which may be related. Unfortunately, this is also a tale of betrayal of the worst kind.

The main characters, Chessa, Charlie, Ryan and Mickey are well fleshed out and realistic. All the other key players in this story are also unique, strong individuals. Not for a moment does the author reveal the true identity of the traitors and bad guys.

The thrilling yet tender descriptions of romance bring a gentleness to the book. At least there are still guys out there who can love a girl no matter what she looks like or the baggage she seems to carry.

For a quick and very satisfying tale of science, action, suspense and love, I highly recommend “Wingspan”. This is truly a one of its kind book. (Ellen Fritz)

I was given this book from the author for my honest review!

Once I was told this book was a paranormal romance, I couldn't wait to read it I mean its one of my favorite genres, not to mention the author is one of my favorites authors shes really talented. But it had no vampires, no werewolves or magic I know you are probably thinking what no vampires or magic why would you read this book I say because you should!! Chessa, Charlie, Ryan and Mickey are all the main characters could be compared to anyone I know, I felt like they are so real I could be talking to them at any time and point. Within this story there are twist and turns you wouldn't expect. I don't believe in giving away any good parts of the book or the main parts in the book I for one hate spoilers so therefore I won't be a part of it. Lets just say I was biting my nails alot. Chessa and Charlie I feel this book were mostly about them because they didn't know what all they had in common and the book didn't let you know the bad guys. I would say through this book shouldn't be classified as paranormal romance it should be given the genre of science romance.

If you love science, romance, and suspense then read this book! Not to mention the author is talented with bringing out real life characters and plots.

5 stars out of 5 stars I would give this book more stars if allowed!

One thing you do not want to be is a ginger . . . . Gingers/Redheads are being rounded up and put into internment camps. All this started in the summer of 2015. The government says they are the carrier to the AIDS gene.

Chessa Dawning's father, Dr. Martin Dawning works for Gen-Tech, discovered a little gene that changed the way everything was done. Dr. Dawning was the mastermind behind the discovery, but what the government do to cover it up makes things even worse for all involved. His daughter Chessa will soon uncover secrets that will change her whole world.

Charlotte Lake is the leader of the rebel Ginger Nation. Her group goes and saves these poor red heads from these horrific camps. What the group does not know is she has secrets of her own. When things start getting heated everyone's secrets are revealed . . . BUT will help the gingers of the world ??

What a wonderful fast paced story! ! ! I loved every word of it ! The secrets that the characters hold from one another are carefully unfolded as the story is told. The story fits together like puzzle. YES there is a love story in this story ! Chessa falls in love with a janitor who turns out to be more than she expects ! It would be nice to see a second book. I love Samantha Combs novels, so well written! The pages turn as fast as you can read. Wingspan is full of suspense and will keep you on your toes. Science at its best!

I love fast paced stories that keep you on your toes, and keep you scratching your head trying to figure out what's going on. Wingspan met that criteria and then some, so it was a fun read. Government conspiracy, rebel factions, great big teddy bear men, girls on the run and a hot guy mixed with suspense and danger? Heck yeah!

Well written with fleshed out characters, I really enjoyed getting to know the players in this story. Chessie seemed a bit childish after realizing what her age was actually supposed to be, which was somewhat of a contradiction. On the one hand, it could be chalked up to her being sheltered. On the other hand, she lost her mom at a very early age and takes care of her dad, which usually matures kids beyond their years. It didn't come across as annoying though, because I spent most of the book thinking she was younger (see below), so she was still a fun, interesting character. The dad was a hilariously stereotypical nerdy scientist, but you could tell he genuinely cared about what was happening. Charlie was a bit of an enigma, which made her mysterious and interesting. I especially enjoyed Mickey. A great friend, loyal to the bone and protective of those he cares about, he is there every step of the way for Charlie, and the rest of them when the need arises. I want my own Mickey.

I was given an e-ARC copy of this story by the author in excange for an unbiased review. I also purchased a copy in order to support the author. Thank You Samantha Combs!!

OMWow! What an original story-line. I found that once I started on this journey it was very well written, easy to follow, and hard to put down. I Love that the author referenced some real life happenings that just helped bring this sci-fi, techie fantasy to life for me. The world buliding is consistent, believable, with twists and turns that I did not see coming. Full of suspense, mystery, and thrilling scenes. I Loved It! Awesome job.

The characters and their backgrounds are amazing. I enjoyed Cheesa and Ryan as they became closer and pulled me into their romantic and at times, horrific world, like a bystander on the sidelines watching it all unfold. Charlotte and her team were just as captivating.
As this is a New Adult Paranormal Romance, I must say it is not for readers under 18. I do recommend it to all sci-fi fantasy readers who like some steaminess in their reads. Well Done Samantha!!

Wonderfully Different!

This was definitely an interesting book and had a tantalizing uniqueness to it. I was shocked at how wonderful this one is. There were a few spots that were a bit slow, but it was necessary to build up the characters back history, and she more than made up for it once things got rolling!

I don't normally read YA/NA books (Young Adult and New Adult) but I really enjoyed this one. The fact that it was twisted in such a way that kept me riveted only added to it. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next!

Wingspan by samantha combs is a fast pace action book with a little romance, mystery, and intrigue thrown into the mix. A young women named chessa her father who was holding a major secret back from her. A troubled young man named ryan, and a kick but women named charlie. This story can keep your heart beating double time throughout the story and can even break your heart a time or two. If I could I would rate this a 7 however the highest I can rate is a 5 so that is what I am awarding this amazing book.
