Nia Scott is a pre-med student at Clark Atlanta University. Nia’s one goal is to become a doctor. Nia’s boyfriend Kyle Hicks is a college football star with big dreams of his own. Nia and Kyle’s relationship becomes rocky when Kyle suffers an injury. Nia’s also has deal her wild roommate Sabina who can’t stop partying. When an unexpected tragedy hits Nia to her core, will she be able to continue her life as planned.

Marlon Mccaulsky gives us an engaging novel about the ups and downs of college life and relationships with I’m Not Superwoman. We see how Nia is trying balance her life at school and her tumultuous relationship with Kyle. Sabrina is also an interesting character that adds a different element to this story. I’m Not Superwoman is a good contemporary novel that has just enough drama to keep the story moving. This would be a good bookclub pick.

I’m Not Super Woman was a really quick and funny read written in true Marlon Mccaulsky fashion. You meet Nia, Kyle, Brandon and Sabina. The main characters in this Atlanta Tale.

Nia got on my nerves initially. She just gave off over protective and annoying vibes that quickly started to make sense, and I started liking her midway through the read. Being a med student with a boyfriend who played sports proved to be a lot to keep up with. She also had her little brother that still lived at home and not in the best situation, and she worried about her mom. Nia had a lot of outside stressors that contributed to her anxiety.

Kyle… as much as he worked my spirit he broke my heart. I’m not even going to get into this, just read the book.💔 I’m in hear screaming Noooooooooo!!!! And the dang cat and dog just looking at me like WTH is wrong with her? 😂I actually shed a tear reading that part. It was so unexpected.

I really liked Brandon. And I was glad to see that he was the type of guy that had patience when it came to getting what and who he wanted.

Sabina was my girl! Sis was WILD!!! The antics of her and Tony had me on the floor until it didn’t. Tony was a predator in my eyes though, and I was glad to see her wise up with him.

But that dang JOHN!!!! Ohhhhh he didn’t get enough! They needed to triple up on the punishment for this fool. I felt Sabina on how she felt like she lost herself. It’s so subtle and can definitely happen to anybody.

This was a great read with a happy ending. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and listened to the entire book in one day. I typically don’t choose audiobooks, I like to hold my book in my hand, but I loved this one and the narrators did a great job with it.

I truly enjoyed this read. The story was full of ups and downs, but I love a story when the ups win. I thought the author did a great job developing the characters and there individual stories. It was an engaging story line with some shocking plot twist. I would surely read more from this author.

“You know what? I’m not superwoman and don’t want to be. I’m human, and I have feelings like everyone else. I hurt like everyone else. I bleed like everyone else, but because I’m a Black woman, that’s supposed to make things different.”

Covering love, loss, abuse, depression, addiction, divorce, and more… I'm Not Superwoman takes a realistic look at some expectations of women, as well as the pressure we put on ourselves. With well-developed characters, Marlon McClausky pens a thought-provoking and relatable story that comes alive right before your eyes. Many women will identify themselves in the story, and you may even recognize some of the characters. 🎧 4-Star Audiobook Review | I’m Not Superwoman by Marlon McCaulsky | Narrated by Elyce Anthony & Ferdinand Bell

Atlanta is the backdrop. Clark Atlanta University is the pressure cooker. And Nia Scott? She’s the pre-med powerhouse trying to do it all—until life hits back hard.

McCaulsky shows real growth in his writing here—more emotional depth, stronger character arcs, and a raw, honest portrayal of the Black college experience. From a spiraling roommate to a toxic situationship with a star athlete, Nia’s journey is anything but smooth. But that’s what makes it real.

🎙️ Elyce Anthony brings heart and gravity to Nia’s voice—capturing her strength, fear, and quiet resilience. Ferdinand Bell delivers a solid performance that balances and complements Anthony’s narration, giving weight to the supporting characters and heightening the emotional intensity.

💥 Messy, emotional, and deeply relatable—this one’s for every woman who’s ever been told to “be strong” when all she really needed was space to just be.

✨ Final Take: You may not be Superwoman—and that’s more than enough. 💛

Not Superwoman but assumed the role....

This story came with plenty of unexpected twists, some celebratory, others.... not so much. The life experiences endured by the women within this tale absolutely required the mental strength and fortitude of superwoman. While there is a serious undertone to the read the author managed to get a laugh out of me a few times. It exudes Urban culture and I enjoyed being immersed in the Atlanta nuances detailed within the story.

I enjoyed this book. In the process of being entertaining the author touched on some serious issues. I was mad at a few of the characters. The various stories kept me engaged and I wanted most of them to have a happy ending. You'll have to find out for yourself if any of the characters got a HEA.

This book touched upon nearly every issue that is relevant in the world today. The relatable storyline kept me engaged and had me you rooting for romantic and self love. The commentary that is sprinkled throughout leads me to think that author has studied the plight of the black women.

I give I’m Not Superwoman ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Staying strong

A relatable story laced with familiar truths. But these characters got on my last nerve. I appreciated the "good man" in this story.

Amid tragedies, there was triumph!

I'm a sucker for love.
