At thirty-two, Ada Yoder is resigned to caring for her three sisters, her ever-impractical father, and their prosperous, but demanding, farm. But Ada soon finds that battling Enos' clever strategies is delightfully intriguing—and lighting an impossible spark . . . Enos is determined to make his mater proud by turning difficult acreage into a successful farm. Legally, he is in the right to reclaim the land from the Yoders. But Ada's hard-working stubbornness and refreshing honesty are proving to be more of an irresistible challenge than an obstacle. Now, can Enos and Ada find enough faith and understanding to reconcile family, duty, and love—and stake their claim on a forever happiness together? Sometimes the greatest blessings come in disguise . . .

This book was full of different emotions. I throughly enjoyed the humor the Author added through out the story. This book had me Laughing out loud in the first chapter. There are other emotions that come to life in the book and I feel that is what made it such a great read. I loved the characters with their many different personalities that added so much to this story. The story plot was original and kept me flipping pages to the ending. A new Amish neighbor moves next door the Yoder farm. It isn’t long before he lets the Yoders know that they have been using six acres that belong to the farm he just bought. He wants their fence moved and the acres returned to him. Ada Yoder and her Dad Mervin Yoder feel the acres belong to them because no one has lived on that farm or kept it up for twenty years. Ada will do what it takes to keep those six acres even if she has to fight her new neighbor to keep them. Handsome Enos Hoover refuses to let the matter drop and the fight begins. Enos not only has to fight Ada but also his disgruntled angry mother who isn’t the least bit happy to be living in Colorado . Tabitha Hoover wants nothing more than to see her son’s plans fail so he will move them both back to Lancaster. Ada just wants to see things go back to the way they were before sneaky Enos Yoder moved next door. I recommend The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unattached Neighbor to readers of Amish Fiction and Christian Fiction. Fans of Jennifer Beckstrand will not want to miss reading this fun book. It is book six of the Amish Quiltmaker Series. It can be read as a standalone but most of the characters have been carried over to this book from the other five books. I’ve enjoyed getting to know the characters and their plain lifestyle. This book is scheduled for release on 11/26/24. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book. All thought and opinions shared here in this review are solely my own. #TheAmishQuiltmakersUnattachedNeighbor #NetGalley
I truly enjoy this author's writing. She's one of my go-to authors when I need a comfort read. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Lots of twists and turns as this couple found their happily ever after.
Another book in the Quiltmaker series. I love that these books can be read together or stand alone. This book focuses on Ada, her new neighbor and his mom. Will Ada and Enos find love? With 6 acres of land in dispute and Tabitha’s grumpy personality it will take a divine intervention. I love the really message is that God loves us no matter what and He will see us through life trials.
I loved, loved Enos and Ada’s heartwarming and sweet Amish romance with a side of stubbornness. The story was well written and included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and a captivating storyline. This one had me feeling all the deep emotions - laughing, crying, swooning, cringing, teeth gritting, and cheering with its perfect balance of humor, heartwarming love, real life issues, trust, mistakes, past pain, duty, and faith. Ada lives with her youngest sister and her forgetful father on their Amish farm in Byler CO. She does most of the household work and takes care of the business of running the farm. At 32 she’s pretty sure she’ll never get married, but she’s content with her life. She is also stubborn and opinionated. Enos just moved with his mother to Byler and bought the farm next door to Ada. He’s 37 and missing a foot and has accepted his lot in life. His mother is a bit of a shrew but he moved her with him to take care of and honor her. Enos and Ada do not get off to an auspicious start as Ada’s family has been unknowingly farming 6 acres that belong to the land Enos just bought and he wants his 6 acres back. But Ada is stubborn enough not to give up those 6 acres too easily and thus begins their beautiful journey of love, faith, mistakes, and second chances. To get to their HEA they’ll have to lean into their faith and trust that God has a way for them to fulfill their responsibilities while also allowing them to fulfill their hearts desire. I love these stories set in the Amish community of Byler. They are such beautiful stories told through the eyes of real, relatable people who have flaws, but are really just trying to do their best as messy humans.
A charming story set in an Amish community in Colorado. Squabbling neighbors start out on the wrong foot, but become allies over time. Their back and forth arguments turn into banter, with a spark of romance. Colorful characters come to their aid and some family relationships are ironed out. It had me wanting a happy ending for Enos especially after all he went through. Some faith elements added inspiration and hope.
Recommend for readers who enjoy a tender romance with some inspiration. 4 stars

The Amish Quiltmaker's Unattached Neighbor is an absolutely must read written by Jennifer Beckstrand. This story has the most amazing characters that really bring this story to life. I loved the story line and the many lessons I learned through reading this book. This story really inspires the reader to be kind to others and to be a good neighbor. I found myself laughing throughout this book. The cover really plays a role in this story as well. The author has definitely written a story for all readers enjoyment.
I did read an advanced copy of this story through Netgalley and was not approached to give a favorable review.
Some people you can't give up on. They have been beaten down their whole life, and learned it is easier to stay quiet, to be a peacemaker, to try to control what they can so they won't get hurt. Maybe they don't know how to behave. Maybe they can't fight because they don't know how to fight. They can't know who to open their heart to the possibility of love. They probably don't believe anyone could truly love them.
Ada Yoder belongs to a quilting club in her Colorado Amish community. The women of this quilting club are a hoot and each one has their own story. Ada's story is centered around her family farm. Her father is very easy going and Ada is the take charge type. Her mother passed away several years ago so she has taken charge of her siblings and has high expectations. When a new neighbor moves in next door with his mother from Pennsylvania, the sparks fly. Enos Hoover claims that he owns 6 acres of Yoder's property. Ada is not having it. She sets up a tent in the middle of 6 acres so he cannot farm it. The tide turns when Ada begins to see how special Enos is and the heavy burden he is carrying.
I enjoyed getting to know the women characters. Some feisty women these bunch. My favorite part is the changing of Enos' mother. A very hard woman who was challenged and transformed when she was faced with the truth. It was all done in good humor and I enjoyed reading it. Highly recommend.
A special thank you to Kensington Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unattached Neighbor by Jennifer Beckstrand is an entertaining story. I like the characters in this series and the new ones introduced in this story. I enjoyed getting to know Ada Yoder better. Ada and Enos got off to an inauspicious start. Ada is a determined woman, and the Yoder’s new neighbor, Enos Hoover, is just as stubborn (patient and kind, but stubborn as a mule). A dispute over six acres of land is going to test their mettle. I like that the story is told from Ada and Enos’s point of view. We get to see each of their perspectives on the various situations. I enjoyed the interactions between the pair. Their conflicts and awkward moments were the beginnings of their relationship. Cathy is a hoot. She has some great dialogue that provides many laugh out loud moments. Her purse reminds me of Mary Poppins’ bag (you never know what will come out of Cathy’s bag next). I liked seeing the characters develop, especially Ada and Beth. It was great to catch up with the other Yoder sisters and their families. While The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unattached Neighbor is the sixth book in The Amish Quiltmaker series, it can be read as a standalone. I like Jennifer Beckstrand’s writing style. I find it to be engaging. Her characters are relatable, and I love the humor sprinkled throughout her stories (I laughed often while reading this story as well as the others in the series). The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unattached Neighbor is a diverting tale with a land dispute, a firm fence, tent troubles, water rights, a messy house, foreshadowing quilt blocks, and a happy harvest.
“The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unattached Neighbor” is the delightfully done sixth book in Jennifer Beckstrand’s Amish Quiltmaker series. This series gets better and better with each book – every time I read a new book in the series I think it is the best one yet until the next one comes along. In this book, thirty-two year old Ada Yoder has dedicated her life to taking care of her father and sisters, especially younger sister Beth. She certainly did not plan on falling in love with next door neighbor Enos Hoover, especially since he plans on taking part of what she considers her land but the attraction between the two is undeniable. The romance between the two is so nicely done that I hated when the book ended as I wanted their story to go on and on. Much of the book is laugh out loud funny, especially the interactions between Ada and Enos but also their elderly Englischer friend Cathy who is my favorite character in this series. Mixed in with the humor are bits of sadness especially in the relationship between Enos and his mother Tabitha – Beckstrand handles this well and quite believably (there is even humor among this sadness in Cathy’s interactions with Tabitha). Both Ada and Enos learn some lessons and change by the end of the book – so well done by Beckstrand.
It is rare to read a hate to love Amish fiction story, but that vibe comes through while reading this book. But that is what happens for Ada Yoder and Enos Hoover. Their start off on opposite sides when Enos tells Ada that six acres of her land actually belong to him and he’d like to start planting right away. They are literally on opposite sides of the fence. Ada determinedly believes the land is hers and the two almost reach a standoff.
I love these characters. Strong personalities are displayed in this novel, but kindness and compassion come through in this story. As this is an Amish romance, there is a shift between opposing views as their hearts slowly open to one another and love eventually wins out. Forgiveness can sometimes be difficult to come by, but when love comes in the picture, it is really sweet to see things unfold.
I love the interactions between Ada and Enos, even if awkwardness and disagreements began the foundation of their budding relationship. From anger, to disagreements, to compassion, to kindness, to forgiveness, and soon to love. This sixth book in the Amish Quiltmaker’s series was the full Monty. Having not read the previous titles, I am sure that I would have met some of the other characters, most notably Esther Kiem and Cathy Larsen.
Many thanks to Zebra and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
From the outstanding author, Jennifer Beckstrand comes the Quiltmaker’s Unattached Neighbor. This is #6 in the Amish Quiltmaker’s series. Each one gets better and better.
Enos Hoover and his mom, Tabitha, moves into an old farm next door to Ada Yoder and her family. As always, Ms. Beckstrand has a perfect combination of emotions from happiness to sadness and everything in between. The story is full of real life, mistakes and forgiveness. It has very funny parts where you find yourself laughing out loud, and then there are other parts that tug at your heartstrings.
Every character is important to the story and the plot is thought out and delivered well, making it realistic. I keep you turning pages quickly so you can find out what happens next.
This book is a 5-star read all the way. You don’t want to miss this one. Order your copy today.
I was given an ARC from Kensington Publishing | Zebra through Netgalley, but was not required to give a positive review. Publication Date is November 26, 2024.
The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unattached Neighbor can easily be read as a standalone but I highly recommend the entire series as we see some of the same people throughout.
As always, author Jennifer Beckstrand wrote a story that kept me laughing, shaking my head, and feeling all the feels. As the title states, we meet the unattached neighbor who plans on staying unattached. As does Ada, the girl next door. Both are excellent characters and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them.
I was happy to see Ada have her story told. She’s so different from the stereotypical Amish spinster and keeps everyone on their toes. So much so that Enos not only doesn’t know what to think of her, but really doesn’t like her. And who would have thought Amish neighbors would get into a disagreement over land? The way this plays out is very humorous.
With an outspoken English friend, a heartbroken mean mother, and countless other unique characters, you don’t want to miss this book if you enjoy Amish fiction.
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
The Amish Quiltmaker's Unattached Neighbor is book six in Beckstrand's Amish Quilter's series. Ada Yoder is a 32 year-old Amish woman who runs her dad's farm. When Enos Hoover and his mother, Tabitha, move onto the farm next door and Enos claims that six of Ada's acres are HIS, according to his deed, she's mad as a hornet and ready to fight! But as Ada gets to know Enos better by tenting out on the controversial six acres, and Enos also camps out right across the fence from her. Ada's attitude about Enos begins to change. Could these two enemies become friends, or, perhaps, even more than friends?
I enjoyed the characters in this book. Tabitha is surely a difficult lady to get along with, and there were oftentimes when I would've liked to wring her neck. But maybe there is even hope for her to change?
This is my favorite book in the Amish Quiltmaker's series.
Thanks to #KensingtonPublishing and #NetGalley and an advanced e-pub of this book. All opinions herein are strictly my own.
This is a cute, and at times funny read. This story is Ada's, the oldest sister and still unmarried at 32, but are things about to change? If you have read the other two books in this series, then your familiar with these four Amish women, but these are read alone books. I am waiting for the youngest Beth's story! New Amishman in town and now a neighbor to the Yoders, and he is claiming six acres of their land! We watch as Ada seems to go to great extreme's to prove her points and we are there as she pushes her points, often with chuckles, from me, and sometimes danger, but whom comes to her rescue? I love Cathy, and she sure says it like it is, and how we wish we could! An overbearing, and sometimes nasty mother, a bit of danger, and a bit of sweet romance! I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kensington, and was not required to give a positive review.
This is the 6th book in the Quiltmaker’s series. In this book, The Quiltmaker’s Unattached Neighbor, Jennifer Beckstrand with her witty humor and charm of her characters brings this book alive. Ada Yoder is the eldest daughter that feels responsible to take care of the house and farm. Enos Hoover moves in next door with his grumpy mother Tabitha and claims that the Yoder’s have a fence keeping him from 6 acres that he said are his. Ada and her father Marvin have been farming that land so Ada claims it is theirs. Both Ada and Enos are stubborn and butt heads. This book is full of Faith, Family, Friendship, Forgiveness and with witty humor that you won’t want to put it down! Thank you to Kensington Publishing, NetGalley and of course Jennifer Beckstrand for the ARC book. This is my honest review and I was not required to leave one. #publication date November 26 2024
There is a definite reason that Jennifer Beckstrand is my favorite Amish story writer. She writes deeply satisfying stories about intimate family relationships that open your eyes to the value of the seemingly small stuff that is the core of successful relationships.
I would subtitle this book, Pot, Calling Kettle. What a kettle of fish, pardon my pun, this main character has gotten himself into and what painful, and joyous lessons he learns as he digs himself out.
I particularly loved the mixing of Amish and Englischer characters in this story. I won't spoil the fun, look back after you're done reading and see if your character allegiances have switched back and forth.
Another great book from Jennifer Beckstrand. This gets a five-star rating. If Amish is your thing, this is a must-read.
The romance in this book was absolutely obnoxious. Immature, deliberately dense characters had me rolling my eyes for half the book. It was just terrible. Also, how many times can a person "quit" something that's so important? Maddie has no staying power, and freeman is just an idiot who is inexplicably lovesick. He's constantly "scared to death" that something bad will happen to Maddie, with absolutely no storyline leading up to explain his over protectiveness. 😒😑
On top of that, ZERO mention that he was totally "in love" with Linda just months ago. And Esther is completely different in this book from who she was in the initial book. Where is the continuity?
But, I enjoyed the concept of how the Amish struggle to stand up for themselves in the face of exploitation and discrimination.
This book is part of a series but can be read without reading the preceding books.
If you love feisty female characters, strong yet flawed male characters, enemies, to, well, not lovers, but you know what I mean, stories, then this one is going to be a perfect book for you. It had it all: stubborn main characters, an evil mother, a fight about property rights, and a learning experience where both learn, grow, and accept. There were also a lot of surprises, as well as a few laugh-out-loud episodes.
It's a fantastic read that will have you frustrated at times but thinking hard about life and your place in it at other times.

Can be read as a standalone however it is part of an interconnected series. I wish I had found this author sooner! He's just moved in next door with his mother. According to his deed the fence separating his property from their's is off and he wants it fixed. The fence has been there for generations and she refuses to move it. How far will she go to prevent him from accessing the land? His mother is not happy that she left their home and the rest of the family and has made her feelings known to everyone. Why did they move? Despite feelings between the neighbors changing, he refuses to take things beyond friendship. What will it take for him to accept a chance at HEA? I received a copy of this book from the author. Review voluntarily given.
The Amish Quiltmakers series has quickly become a favourite of mine. In this latest instalment Jennifer Beckstrand has given us the Amish version of an enemies to lovers romance and it makes for a fantastic read. Ada and Enos are both very engaging characters. I found myself drawn to them and couldn’t choose a side. Both won over my heart and I couldn’t get enough of their witty banter because underneath it all was an underlying attraction that kept their arguments and discussions very interesting. I couldn’t wait for them to throw in the towel and get their happily ever after. I’m giving THE AMISH QUILTMAKER’S UNATTACHED NEIGHBOR the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!
It never ceases to amaze me how Jennifer Beckstrand is able to write stories that are so funny and feel so lighthearted while actually having a lot of spiritual depth and life lessons contained within them. This story is no exception! I loved Ada and Enos' story. I loved how they couldn't help but serve one another in love and fight for each other even while they were trying to be enemies. I have a lot to learn from their kind of love!
I received a complimentary electronic copy of this book from NetGalley. It's always a joy to visit any of Jennifer Beckstrand's Amish communities, and I look forward to the next one!
Jennifer Beckstrand wins me over every book of hers I read. I have loved the Amish Quiltmakers books so much!! From the first one to this one, she has maintained the characters and built on them. Ms Beckstrand balances humor, seriousness, sadness, and Amish way of life into all of her Amish books. This book takes us on an adventure with a new neighbor and his cantankerous mother. I was often laughing out loud at the interactions of two neighbors, yet tears running down my cheeks from crying at the unkindness of the neighbors behavior and words towards her son.
This is a major MUST READ if you like novels about the Amish!!
Ada is 32, and for an Amish woman, that is too old to expect to marry. She is resigned to taking her of her sisters and her father. When a new neighbor, Enos, shows up claiming he owns six acres of land that they have farmed for two decades, a major dispute occurs between Ada and Enos. She won’t give in, and he won’t give up. This very interesting story is complicated by Enos’s mother who is obnoxious and disliked by everyone. She is living with Enos but wants to return to Pennsylvania, and loudly complains about everyone and everything. This story is entertaining, especially as the relationship between Ada and Enos waxes and wanes. It’s another fine addition to the series.
Another book in the Amish Quiltmaker's series. This book focuses on Ada and Enos. I have so far loved this series. The characters are all so different and draw you in to the story. Ada and Enos are in a dispute over 6 acres. Enos can prove that he owns them but will his admiration and love for Ada make settling the dispute worth the price? Each of these stories bring the reader closer to the characters. Even though it is part of a series, it can be read alone. However, once you read one you will want to read the rest. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.
This book takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I always enjoy Jennifer Beckstrands books. The characters have such different personalities that is made the book fun and delightful. You will definitely want this one on your to be read pile.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher. All words are my own.
Hijinks, one-upmanship, witty banter, forgiveness, grace, Jennifer Beckstand's "The Amish Quiltmaker's Unattached Neighbor" has it all. Beckstrand writes the most delightful rom-coms. Whenever I see a Beckstrand book, it goes on my shelf.
Releases Nov.26th. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I adore Amish romance, and this was simply lovely. Set in Colorado, this book showcases neighbours who start out on the wrong foot, and slowly become friends. Their friendship eventually blossoms into a tender romance. As with all Amish books, there are strong elements of faith and hope.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in return for my honest review.
the BANTER and chemistry were so good and so cute and romantic. i love how they suited each other and forced refkection and growth in each other and how they truly LOVED each other. beauuuutiful slow ish burn to them realizing their feelings by begrrudginly realizing the good aspects in the other person i was obbsessed and love them together
This is book six of this wonderful series. This time we find Ada butting heads with her new with neighbor Enos. He claims that Ada's family has six acres of his land. The more they argue the closer they get. Sweet romance. '
Jennifer’s sense of humor always shines through her books. This book was a fun read, yet it has spiritual and psychological lessons in it as well. I really enjoyed it.
