When Jessica (JS Andrews) was a little girl she would come up with fantastical stories and share them with her entire family. She taught herself to read at a very young age in self-defense, since her older sisters could not keep up with her voracious appetite for books.

While Jessica has been writing her whole life she only decided to begin writing professionally in 2022. She decided to finally share those stories with the world. Get in touch if you’ve got any comments, questions, suggestions, or just want to say hello. JS Andrews would be more than happy to hear from you.

I am almost halfway through the book and I am hooked. I have 4 kids so life gets busy but this book has let me get away in another world and I’m so excited to finish this book. I love how this book is set up and I can’t wait to see what happens at the end. This is very good and trying to solve the mystery while I’m reading it. I love how I can get in this book and makes it feel like I’m the main character and I talk with who she talks to. If you want to get into some magic and talking cats this is your book. I’m hoping to change the review when I finish the book.

Life Starts Meow is the first book in the new series Rose Valley Mysteries by author J.S. Andrews. I’ve read other books by her and love her work, but this is different from her previous books. It’s an urban fantasy mystery and we’re introduced to the kooky FMC, Hadley Monroe, as she’s struggling with her current job whilst her home life is also under pressure from all sides.

After receiving some tragic news from a stranger out of the blue, she uproots her life and moves back to Rose Valley, the town where she used to spend her childhood summers with her great aunt Alice. Despite all the recent upheaval Hadley wants to believe in the universe’s plan for her, and that things will work out.

Once there Hadley finds a lot more than she was expecting. New friends are made and old acquaintances renewed; Hadley makes discoveries about herself and her family and comes to realise that some things are not all they seem.

With the help of two cats, a distinguished older marmalade tabby called Baron, and the irrepressibly rambunctious new kitten Minnie, Hadley muddles through the transition back to small town life whilst dodging her tendency for “clumsiness”, facing up to events from her past and solving a murder (or more?)!

I’ve loved reading this book, and can easily relate to the all-too-real chaos in Hadley’s life. She’s a very likeable FMC but I have to say that Baron and Millie are (for me) the stars of the show! I love the twists and turns the author has taken in telling Hadley’s tale and reading this book had been a total pleasure.

I absolutely recommend Life Starts Meow and I’m really excited to see where the author takes us next with Hadley’s journey. I was lucky to receive an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

What a fun read! This was such a great journey to get lost in. I really enjoyed reading this, and the mystery was fun to try to guess. Our two little sidekicks offered such an interesting twist in the story as well. They almost stole the show!

Great New Paranormal Cozy

Meeting Hadley and friends was so fun. The fuzzy animals remind me of my own cats. The town and mystery kept me turning the pages. I especially liked the reveals throughout.

Life Starts Meow is a great start to a fun new series by JS Andrews! Hadley is such a relatable character, it's easy to connect with her and enjoy her story line. I really feel her on her clumsiness since I'm fairly clumsy myself! I do wish that my clumsiness had a fun secret twist to it like Hadley's though. Life Starts Meow has Hadley coming back to a place she spent a lot of time growing up. Rose Valley holds a grudge against Hadley for a terrible accident that happened years earlier. Heading back to Rose Valley, she has to face events from the past, come to terms with the past and try to gain some forgiveness. She's also trying to figure out an unexpected surprise to her family history, while also trying to solve what really happened to her aunt. Her aunt's cats, Baron and Millie, make the story even more fun. Baron is very much set in his "old man" ways, but is learning to adjust. Millie is a spunky little sidekick and she definitely makes you laugh a few times. You'll have to forgive her, she's young and still in training ;) If you like a good mystery with a fun story line to keep things interesting, this is a book for you!
