Swords and Sorcery Meet Science

Dayne Edmondson has a vivid imagination, and has created a complex, wonderful world to present in this excellent series. Imagine a space colonization effort that discovers a world of magic, but lacks the resources to maintain the level of science and civilization that brought it across the vast distances of interstellar space. Imagine a predatory star-wide race of super spiders that wants to destroy--and consume--all of humanity. Pretty creative in my opinion! Dayne skillfully works this ingenious back story into a truly pleasurable story. The primary characters are just as complex and unexpected.

EXCELLENT SWORD AND SORCERY/FANTASY/SF, BOTH AS BOTH AN INDIVIDUAL BOOK AND AS A SERIES! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AS BOTH!

The book is much more involving than the first and has a phenomenal pace that everyone would appreciate. I was completely resolved to finish the book as fast as possible and could not stay away from the book. Once completing the book, all I could say was, "That was a good read." I would highly recommend to anyone!

This book is easy to follow. The characters are easy to keep straight yet not boring in the least. By the end I was wishing there was more.

Easy-to read writing and great pacing can do wonders for any story. Imagine when the story is actually good and well constructed on top of it all. This is what we get here, there is a Sci-fy twist at the end of book 1 (which is otherwise classic fantasy) and this second book start with this twist with three new characters from modern day Earth. I'm not particularly fond of "portal" fantasy, but this one is subtle and well done. The story does not dwell too much in the modern day Earth stuff and goes right back in the classic fantasy. This is one of the easiest read I have encountered, the writing really flows and the amount of details in each sentence is perfect. The author his able to always keep things moving and interesting with great characters and good action sequences. The little sci-fy twist brings just enough mystery to the story to make it, if not totally original, definitely enticing. Plus there is shapeshifting druidess, how can that not be interesting.

Time of Shadows continues the adventures of some of the characters from Blood and Shadows. If you are looking for a fantasy book this is a good choice. There are plenty of adventure as the characters try to exact revenge, get themselves out of troubled situations and help the people of Tar Ebon.

I won't spoil the story for you but I can tell you I enjoyed the new characters Dayne Edmondson wrote about in this book. He also included most of my favorites from his first story, Blood and Shadows. My favorite characters are a toss up between Alivia (the mage), Anwyn (a shape shifter/druid with killer instincts) and Bridgette (an assassin with revenge on her mind...but who is it aimed at this time?).

I am invested in these books and highly anticipate the third book. Thanks Dayne Edmondson for another great read!

This was a terrific read. This is Dayne Edmondson's second novel of his "Saga if the Seven Stars" His first novel "Blood and Shadows" was great also. I highly recommend both books.
