New Adult Romance author. Reading was my earliest passion, often seeking the sanctuary of my room or the library to read everything I could get my hands on. I penned romantic poetry in high school and was winning school awards for my short stories at 16. In college I would hibernate in the library for days at a time, consuming every short story and novel I could find.

I probably drink too much coffee and eat too much junk food, but to compensate do like running and rollerblading outdoors when the weather is nice. I'm a hopeful romantic who prefers stories with a happy ending. You can often find me in a library or coffee shop working on my next story, or with my nose in a book.

November 2017 Review:

This was an incredible read. The story was really amazing. I read this book two years back, and I loved it. However, this second time made me appreciate the story even more. I have always been a fan of student-teacher relationship books. I blame it on Ezra for the PLL TV series for that. Anyways, I really loved the characters because they did not get together until after she got her graduation certificate. Alex has been through a lot through her life: she lost her dad, her house, and lives in a trailer park. She pretends to be someone she is not to fit in at her high school and is the head cheerleader. She meets Mark, and he helps her get past her fears and makes her want to be the real her. Mark was the best thing that happened to Alex. He is sexy and smart. I loved their chemistry. The ending was sweet. I can’t wait to read the next two books. Overall, an amazing read.

August 2015 Review:

I love this book. The main character, Alex has faced many challenges in the past. These challenges made her afraid to live her life. In the book, she went from wanting to fit in to being herself. I loved Mark! He is sexy, and smart. I love their chemistry! I can't wait to read the next two books! Beautifully written!

Lessons in Love—what a surprise book! I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would, and I want to recommend it to every reader who is a sucker for high school love, pretty and popular cheerleaders and hot, handsome and compassionate math teachers. Okay, forget about the math part! Lessons in Love is a good young adult romance book. Treat yourself with a story of an intelligent student who is hiding her true identity and a teacher who unveils her secret.

I really like the taboo "falling in love with the teacher" stories :)
I love that the main character Alex, isn't the stereotypical dumb blonde, even tho she's head cheerleader :)
I loved the story of something tragic holding back Alex from properly living her life, and while I sympathise with her, this is a big part of the story. Thankfully she has help to pull herself out of herself, and help with the path to a better future.
Well written, and lovely story.

So, I received this as an ARC, and normally, because in appreciate authors taking their time to send me their hard work, if it's negative I won't post a review. But this one was just too bad to pass on.

Normally, I don't ever quote books. Usually I can't find or don't remember quotes from particular books, but this one had quite a few gems.

If the high school football team loses, and I quote "if they had been better supported in cheers the game might've turned around"

Really? This author must've been a cheerleader in high school, and didn't feel they got their due. I was a cheerleader in middle school, and my sisters were in high school. I don't care if your cheerleading team is the #1 ranked squad in the nation, your participation or lack thereof has no implications on the football team whatsoever. Cheerleading is NOT that important or serious.

And another gem? "Good thing you didn't get detention. You could've cost the team the game..." *insert face palm here*

And the last one, I promise. "Being captain had taught Alex a lot. About diplomacy in particular and how difficult it could be to keep everyone happy. She had a whole lot more respect for the president since doing it." You're a CHEERLEADER, not saving the world. (I know, I know cue the Heroes pun here)

I'll be honest. I DNFd at 15% in. Not only is the cheerleading deification irritating, but Alex as the daughter of a single mom, is an ungrateful brat towards her. I picked this story up, thinking it would be like Slammed, which I ADORED. Alas, it is not. HARD pass on this one.

*Received an ARC for honest review.*

I WANT TO READ THE SEQUELS NOW!!!
I absolutely loved this story! Even when I was annoyed with Alex for lying all the time, I could understand and sympathize with her reasons. Not many people could have experienced a trauma of the magnitude that Alex had and come out of it with their psyches intact. The description of this event brought tears to my eyes, and the true-to-life characterizations of the “mean girls” and the jocks had me wandering down the halls of my own high school once again. I was a brainy nerd though, so I could certainly empathize with Alex’s burning desire to be popular.
I could also empathize with her crush on a hot teacher and the fact that he was just as attracted to her would have been a dream come true for someone like me. Still, they do the right thing and wait.
Now Alex is off to college, and we, the readers, are left to wonder what will become of this star-crossed couple? I personally am rooting for Mark!

I downloaded this book because it was free and had good reviews, and I'm not disappointed at all. It's the first of a series of 3 and I will buy book 2 next week.
It's a really sweet story about an 18 year old that went through a huge trauma and is trying to start over in her new school, pretending to be someone completely different from who she was.
Her disguise won't last long after her new math teacher put her on detention and slowly discovers her secret.
I read this book in one night, I just couldn't stop reading, sometimes it reminded me of Aria and Ezra's story from Pretty Little Liars, but it was so much lovely and with a dark side that made it unique.
I'm really looking forward to read Letters of Love, and I think I found a new favorite romance author :)

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
In full disclosure I have to say usually books like this where there is a romance between a teacher and a student usually turn me off but I found myself absolutely loving this story. The romance was done in such a respectful way that I have to applaud the author. I really enjoyed this book because it shows how easily your life can change from one extreme to another. How in a blink of an eye it can all change

This is the first book in a 3 book series. You meet Alex who is a cheerleader at her high school and Mark who is the (Sexy) new math teacher at school. Alex is not what she seems because although she is a very smart girl she decides to just barely pass her classes. Mark is a teacher who wants to show her she can do so much more with her life.

I give this book 5/5 stars a truly great read. I can not wait to read the next two books in this series

I can't say I madly loved this book, but I actually liked it. I must say I've always had a thing for teacher-student stories since forever so I get quite excited every time if get to read some story like this.
It's not the typical story,it's actually not purely a love story but a story about a confused teenager who tries to get on her own too feet as she gets over all what she lost when her father died.
It's easy to read and the story is really fast and likeable, I must say I couldn't put it down for the entire night I spent reading it. I read it as quickly as I could and I feel like I need to get the other two books ASAP.
It's not a complicated story with stilted writing, but a really easy to read one and quite fun I must add.
It's a story a lot of people can relate, specially girls, maybe not only teenagers but your women who had gone to some similar stuff. Myself, i found to relate way to much with Alex and the way she sometimes feels and thinks as a teenager.
The romance is there and it's not exploited making it amazing to read without puking rainbows and butterflies. It's kind of a cool relationship that is not overwhelming at all.
If you are not so into pink love stories you're probably going to like this book.

First let me just say that this is the first book that I read from this author.

I just finish reading this book, and I like it, like the characters and like how the book turn out. I am gone keep this short cause I don't want to give anything away.

This is the story of Alex Heron, she's a cheerleader, popular, she's a pretty blonde, and she seem to have everything she wants, but that's not how it is, she stay in the wrong side of the tracks, she is a smart girl but she don't let know one see her like that, she does what she needs to do to pass her classes, but all that change the day that she saw her new math teacher, the sexy hunk of Mark Simmons, Mark saw right away the real Alex and he wants to help her out to overcome her past, but during this time they did not expected to start having feelings for each other.

I really like and enjoy reading this book, now I am so ready to find out what's gone happened next, cant wait to read the second book, Author Clarissa Carlyle THANK YOU for introducing me to this amazing characters and this awesome books.

Seeing Alex having to hide are true self was sad. Alex lost her father when she was 14, along with loosing her father, she also lost everything she loved. Alex changed her was to fit in with people at school. Only her senior year, when a hot new math teacher comes in and see's that Alex is more then a pretty cheerleader. Helping her realize she can go to college, Alex drops cheerleaderin' and speeds after noons with Mark and other teachers. Only they fall in love with each other, want to stay back and miss college to be with him. Mark pushes her to go, only to give her a letter express his love for her. I really did enjoy this book, the only thing is that I felt like there were holes that were not filled. And I feel like Mark and Alex didn't have enough time with each other. Other then that, I would recommend this book.

I absolutely love the teacher student trope so I was excited to see a book I hadn't yet read. The story had some potential but it got silly real fast. So the h had been playing dumb but was actually really smart and thru a few months of hard work was able to get a dull s scholarship to Princeton uh yeah ok.

So we assume from the book she's a virgin but when they finally hook up there is no mention of what went down other then she says after a date I want to go home with you cut to the next day when she does the assumed walk of shame and gets caught by her mom.

Yeah it gets one star it just was bad and it ended with them not getting together and 2 more books apparently. So not going to invest anymore time into this silliness.

This is the first in a collection of amazing books and I have to say that I love each and every one of them, the way that this book starts the story and then leaves you wanting more is just amazing. I recommend everybody read this and the ones that follow, trust me when I say that you will be gripped from the moment you read the first page...

Alex Heron is in high school and is also a cheerleader, she is really smart and was originally at a private school but after the sudden death of her father she ended up having to move house to a trailer park and ended up being moved into a common high school. No one at her current school knows that she is quite clever as when she does term tests and assignments she doesn't try as hard as she should.
But when her new maths teacher turns round and calls her out with one of her recent tests she tries to hide beneath the shield that she has been hiding in since she started.

Mark Simmons transferred to Alex's high school as they were in need of a new teacher but when he looks through all of Alex classes' recent tests he notices that Alex started to write all the right answers but then she rubbed most of them out and put the wrong answers. He seems really confused by this so he calls her out in their next class and says that he wants a word with her at the end of the day and when she does show up he can see straight away that she is hiding something, but he doesn't exactly try to push for what it is.

Alex notices that Mark can see straight through her and after Mark telling her that because this is her last year before she goes off to college that she needs to up her grades as she is failing one of them. He offers to help her apply for the college that her dad went too but he needs her to be willing to put the work into it.

So when Alex decides that she must give up cheerleading so that she can get all of her grades up, she really is worrying about what everyone will say because she just wants to fit in without anyone finding out about her past. As the extra lessons progress for Alex, her and Mark are starting realise that they are both developing feelings for each other but Mark knows that whilst he is her teacher nothing can become of it.

Will Alex's friends ever find out her secret that she has managed to keep from everyone and will they use it against her or be there for her. And will Mark ever realise that he wants to be with Alex as much as she wants it, but will she ever get into the college that father went too. The only way to find out all of this is to read it. I promise you that you won't regret it.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

This story was very different from other books that I have read and that kept my interest until the end. Alex is 18 years old and a senior in high school. She is head cheerleader at her high school and maintains a persona that fits with what she thinks people expect of her. In reality she is not being her true self, but she fears that if her friends and classmates find out that she lives in a trailer park that she will be ostracized. Alex hides the fact that she is actually smart by getting barely passing and average grades. Then Alex's new math teacher Mark, a young 25 year old teacher, discovers that she is a math wiz and offers to help her get improve her grades and get into college.

I liked that this story was about more than just romance. Alex discovers her true self again and begins the difficult process of healing from the tragic event that changed her life. This is a teacher student romance, but I think the author handled it very well in a way that would not turn off people who are not fans of these types of stories. I would say that if you are unsure about reading this story to definitely give it a try because it will surprise you.

One thing that I would have liked a little more of would be more details about Mark. Though I do get that this is more Alex's story, I just wanted a little more of his personality to come through. I felt that by the end of the story that I really did not know him as well as I would have liked. I wanted to understand her feelings for him beyond the apparent physical attraction. I really liked this story overall. The ending was quick for me, and I wanted it to last longer. I read the preview of book two at the end of this book, so I am planning to read book two and three right away because I am eager to see what happens next.

Alex is the main character in this book. She is a senior in high school and is the captain of the cheerleaders. She puts forth this persona of being a mean girl but in reality she's just trying to fit in and escape her life. Something horrible happened to Alex when she was 14 and it altered her life. She witnessed her father's murder and it changed everything. Alex went from living in an affluent neighborhood and attending private school where she was really smart, to living in a trailer park where her mom is forced to work 2 jobs just to survive and she has had to dumb herself down to fit in. When Alex has a run in with her new hot math teacher, Mr. Simmons, everything falls into place for her. He shows her that she doesn't need to be this shallow superficial person anymore. She can be better than that. Alex has always dreamed of attending Princeton and with the help of her new teacher she hopes to make that a reality just like her father wanted for her before he died. The only thing that might get in her way is the attraction that both Mr. Simmons and Alex feel toward each other and the fact that she is now a social pariah! This is a great book. It shows the reader that no matter what your situation in life you can always work hard and achieve your dreams. There will always be people who have your back and want you to succeed in life and all that it has to offer.

Life can be a fleeting moment and it can change in a heartbeat, you can go from having everything to having nothing at all. That's what happened to Alexandra Herron when her dad was shot in a wrong place, wrong time shop hold-up. After he died her family lost everything as he had died leaving debt behind. Alex had to leave her private school life and flash house and move to a trailer park with her mum and brother and attend public school. Here she decided to re-invent herself and become Alex Herron - Cheerleader and barely scraping by on her grades and not Alexandra Herron - Violin player and maths genius. Its her last year at school and Alex is Head Captain of the Cheerleading squad and all is going well with her facade until a new maths teacher arrives Mr. Simmons. He is the only one who can see through Alex's facade and soon , they are spending time together in and out of the classroom. Can Mr. Simmons be the push that Alex needs to get her life back on track and to start re-discovering who she is ?

Find out in Book #1 of the Lessons of Love Series. This was a quick read and had that teacher/student relationship going on but what I loved about this book was that the relationship wasn't over-exaggerated and over-sexualised like I have read in the past.

Lessons in Love, the first book I've read from this author, was an incredibly pleasant read. I loved everything about it. The length, how it wasn't too long but also not too short, how the details weren't too much but were just enough, how the characters had a balance of admirable characteristics and flaws. Realistic, and although there are many books out there with the Student-Teacher storyline, I love how this author took it and changed it into something a lot more. Fantastic ending, valuable lesson about high school for young adults out there and great way to show how education matters more than petty high school drama, that although love is truly amazing, it shouldn't stand in your way of any great opportunities, and how no matter how long you've fallen, it's never too late to get up and start running. I applaud the author for every word written down, definitely looking forward to reading the rest of her books.

This was not the typical romance book I am used to reading, but I found myself truly enjoying it.
This story was mainly about Alex, a popular cheerleader, dealing with identity issues and trying to deal with a traumatic event that happened in her past.
Then there is Mark Simmons the math teacher who sees underneath Alex's facade.
He helps Alex see that her education matters more then all the high school drama and that its never too late to achieve your goals. He also helps tutor Alex and during this time alone they both start to develop feelings for one another.
I would have liked to read more romance between Alex and Mark but other then that I did like this story. I'm looking forward to reading more about Alex in college and curious to find out if Mark plays any part in her future.. I guess I'll have to keep reading to find out : )

I thought this book was really good. I liked how Alex gave up cheerleading to bring her grade up for college. When Alex's dad died when she was 14 she was so depressed. When Alex gets a substitute teacher in math he is the cutest guy ever. She falls in love with him. I liked when Alex graduated she could finally date him even though she is 7 years younger than him. I didn't like at the end when Alex went to college and she had to leave her boyfriend behind.

Love

Love is definitely the theme of this book, and although this book could come across as just a sweet coming of age book in the beginning, it is not. It definitely has a nice HEA but it has real life problems for a girl that has been handed a tough set of cards in life, and lessons in love and growth and dreams. Enjoyable easy read and will be reading the next in the series.

Short but strong

The taboo of teacher student relationship, I agree, is frowned upon. However, this book blurs the line to almost non existent and was an honest, sweet and respectable depiction of human love. I enjoyed this book and am excited to continue on Alex's journey.
