♡ What I loved most: • Once again, the worldbuilding absolutely shone — lush, magical, and so vivid I could picture every detail: the palaces, the nature, the shimmer of each beautiful fae ✨ • The multi-POV narration gave the story depth and dynamism — allowing each character’s journey to bloom beautifully 🌿 • The pacing was wonderfully fast — every chapter held something new and exciting, making it impossible to stop reading 📖 • Lorelei’s powers were so enchanting to read about — I loved imagining every moment she wielded them 🌸 • I adored how this finale gave space to other princesses and lords — tying all their stories together in a satisfying, complete way 🎀 • The ending, while very predictable, was heartwarming, emotional, and pure — it wrapped the fairytale with grace and hope 💖 • No loose ends — everything connected in such a beautifully orchestrated way 🎇
❀ Overall: This series healed my inner child. The little girl who loved stories about brave princesses — only now, they save themselves. Each book felt like a fairytale: fast-paced, full of wonder, and rich with emotion. While the romances were admittedly rushed (as fairytales often are), it’s easy to forgive when the magic of the world sweeps you away. Black Hearted delivered a heartfelt, sparkling finale to this enchanting saga. If you crave clean romance, intricate magical worlds, and tales that balance sweetness with adventure, these fairytales will absolutely charm you. 💫👑
This was such a great conclusion to the series! I’ve been waiting to see how things would wrap up with Zane and Lorelai, and it did not disappoint. Zane is on a mission to get to Lorelai, but there are plenty of obstacles in his way. One of my favorite parts was the fight scenes. The tension and the outcome of the fights gave me some anxiety. But I loved it.
I really loved seeing the connection between Zane and Lorelai and how patient Zane was as he tried to understand her better. He’s honestly such a catch, and the way he looked out for Nellie completely melted my heart. This book made me laugh, cry, and smile so hard.
It was also so nice to catch up with the other couples and see what they’re up to now. My heart was so full by the end. Such a perfect finale to the series.
This is the 4th and final book in the Cursed Fae series. These books have been such a delight! I absolutely loved the characters. The golden retriever in the MMC made it for a sweet read.
Zane and Lorelai did not disappoint. I loved how it all came about, how the characters overcame hurdles. I thought this Waa wrapped up nicely. I will miss this world and the loveable characters we met throughout the 4 books!
If you're after a fun, quick binge worthy romantasy series, this one is a must-read! So good!
2.5 ✨️ as I mentioned in my previous reviews, I really like the concept of the series but just absolutely not the writing style. This one was especially over the top/ cringey (for my liking)
I'm not crying, you are crying! 🥹 I loved every minute of this book, Zane and Lorelei's story is the sweetest! 🥰 From book one to this perfect conclusion, you will fall in love with the courageous Princesses of Faerie and the hot and righteous Lords of Ethereum! 😍 What a wonderful finale for a fantastic series! 🙌🏻❤️

This was definitely a satisfying end to the series! I loved the addition of Nellie in this book, a very high spirited child who wormed her way right into their hearts. The relationship between her and Zane was heart warming. I loved seeing things come full circle at the end.
This entire series is one of my more favorite series that I have read in quite a long time! Huge recommend! Only issue I have is that there were not more details written into the last chapter.
I'm so gutted this series is over, but Black Hearted was such an amazing conclusion to this series! I ended up reading it in one sitting, I was absolutely hooked!
I really loved being back in this world and getting to know Zane and Lorelai, whilst also still getting to see our previous main characters. The connection between them was just perfect, and I love how patient Zane was. He is one of the sweetest characters, and I honestly loved how he protective he was of Lorelai and Nellie, who quickly became one of my favourite characters.
This has been such an enjoyable series, and I loved the whole premise of it all. Full of action, the Cursed Fae series takes you on an emotional rollercoaster that I couldn't put down. I definitely recommend them!
Well, I finished the series! Particularly impressive for me given this last book came out months after I finished the last 3 books a few months ago and they were good (*but not great), so I was worried that I'd either 'forget' to come back, or would have forgotten too much of the world by that point to want to read it... (The joys of my particular ADHD brain. lol) so yay for me! *pats self on the back
I would say that this book was similar for me to the rest of the series - good, but not great. I definitely like that this point broke the mould a bit more than the others (ie. it was the MMC that came into her world, instead of the other way around) and I LOVED that leant more into the duel POV (this one had more from both Lorelai and Zanes perspective), I really enjoyed hearing about how Lorelai connected to her power (stunning!) ... but there were quite a few things that I didn't like: -They relied so much on -The Queen Liliana storyline... so - Why didn't they provide a storyline wrap up for - As soon as they mentioned Lorelai's power included
Overall this was a lovely series, the world building was fun, it wasn't 'deep' or too much spice, fast paced and interesting... but certainly far from a favourite for me personally.
I’ve absolutely adore this series - and I’m so grateful to get an early read of the finale! The concept is so interesting and the world is addictive.
A wonderful conclusion and I particularly enjoyed seeing how both worlds found their way at the end - without giving any spoilers!
Interesting plot twists and a dark villain path for one character which was a nice addition and switch from previous books in the series.
I rated all other books in this series a 3.5 - couldn’t put them down but the 1.5 stars were just because the writing style wasn’t a deep or complex as some of the other books I’ve read this year. Which makes total sense given the YA genre - it’s just a rating related to other books I’ve read.
This one lost that .5 for a few small reasons:
- A consequence of Zane and Lorelai being the last pair is that you already know that mate bond is there which lessened the stakes and intensity of that relationship a bit. I didn’t really fall in love with them falling in love because there wasn’t really any obstacles - they felt connected straight away.
- Talking of obstacles - I think one of the main reasons the other couples in previous books had me hooked onto their relationship more is that they all had more of a joint journey to play their part in the curse. Lorelai and Zane spend a lot of the book apart, and their time together is short with only 1-2 short obstacles. Finding a possible resolution to the curse felt too simple - trying to a voice spoilers - when someone takes the other person’s path, I was expecting consequences etc. It made sense when the Wise Ones explained it, but I think I just expected more chaos in the curses final chapter.
But the book was a speedy, engaging read with such beautiful world building - and I loved meeting Nellie. Plus Lorelai’s dream powers were super cool and a new element of the series.
Definitely recommend you pick up and read, and thank you to Leia Stone for organising my ARC 🩷
I loved Zane through this whole series and felt so sad for him because he was the last to get a mate. He had to stand by and watch his brothers fall madly in love. He was always so funny & charming but he had to wait for the one person made for him. Lorelei was just as sweet, considerate, respectful, and caring as Zane. Both wanted to sacrifice themselves to save both worlds and the thousands of fae. Queen Liliana was a really evil twisted fae. In fact I don't buy the story that shellfish changed after her husband died. He wasn't her mate. I think there's more to it. Anyone who had to kill their mate would be devastated. Whether they only IKEA them for a few minutes or not. I would love to see the authors do a novella about Queen Lilliana's backstory! Princess Lorelei is kidnapped by Queen Liliana. And I thought she was cruel before. The torture techniques she uses are nothing but barbaric. When the princess escapes & gets caught she is severely punished. Not to mention the way the queen siphons off her with the intention of opening the portal. Dawn goes into early labor & we learn just how many babies she is carrying. And there is a surprise when the babies are born in reference to their gender. Lorelei has a secret power that only her family knows about. This power saves her mice by getting messages to Zane & her mother. Shockingly Zane & her mom team up to rescue her. And Zane gains a little sister. He rescues a orphan girl & brings her to the Spring Court with him. The bond the establish softens the Spring Queen & princesses heart. Like I said Zane is special. I don't think Lorelei could've killed anyone. She hates taking plant life to live or heal. I bet she could also cause death with her power too. She just never tried. And it's a good thing Queen Liliana never figured it out. That woman's crazy! Talking about killing her own grandchildren if they had black blood. Who does that? A crazy person!
OH. MY. GOD. This finale had me kicking my feet, holding my breath, and screaming internally from start to finish 😭🔥 And honestly??
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 STARS — My favourite of all four books.
In Black Hearted, we follow Lorelei the last princess of Faerie, as the curse threatens not just Faerie but Ethereum itself. Our girl has one task: team up with Zane, the final remaining Ethereum lord who is probably the nicest of them all😂 and break the curse together to restore both their lands.
Together they face betrayal, fate, deadly magic, and the kind of slow-burn tension that makes you want to throw the book across the room because JUST KISS ALREADY 😭🔥
Zane and Lorelei were 1000% my favourite MCs and couple of the entire series… their chemistry? Their growth? Their devotion?? I was obsessed. And NELLIE 🥹💖 My whole heart.
The worldbuilding absolutely shone, lush, magical, vivid enough that I could picture every single detail. The multi-POV narration added so much depth, letting every character’s journey breathe and bloom beautifully.
The pacing?? Perfection. Every chapter brought something new, exciting, and completely addictive.
I also adored how this finale gave space to the other princesses and lords — tying all their stories together in a way that felt complete, intentional, and so satisfying.
And the ending… yes, very predictable, but it was heartwarming, emotional, pure, and wrapped the fairytale with hope and grace. No loose ends. Everything connected in the most beautifully orchestrated way.
💫 “The one whom my soul has chosen.” 💫 “This wasn’t just about saving the seelie in Faerie anymore. It was about saving all the souls in Ethereum, too.”
This finale gave me everything — magic, romance, sacrifice, closure, FEELS. Truly the perfect ending to the series.
Zane’s and Lorelei’s story was an amazing finish to a fun YA fantasy series that I’ve really enjoyed reading!
However although the Faerie princesses and Ethereum lords are mates, I did feel that in the first three books they get married a little too fast and I was delighted by the last two chapters of the book showing that Zane actually took his time in respectfully courting Lorelei and only marrying her after about 7 months of knowing her compared to the previous books when the wedding happened 1 month after the MC’s had met.
I loved the pacing of the romance with both Lorelei and Zane being attracted to one another, but it didn’t get overly intense. I felt that Lorelei’s hesitance to get close to Zane even as she was slowly falling for him made the story feel less unrealistic in terms of the romance developing, and really enjoyed Nellie’s spunky character especially with how she consistently showed up throughout the various chapters. Lorelei’s ability as a dream walker also added an interesting factor to the story and you can clearly see the improvement in the authors’ writing as they work on the series with each book’s romance feeling a bit more realistic and having you feel more and more invested.
As a bonus, I also enjoyed Dawn’s and Zander’s chapters in Ethereum going through Dawn’s labour and their thoughts and worries of how things are going with Zane and Lorelei over in Faerie.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this story and the series to anyone looking for a light YA fantasy romance read that draws you in to the characters-
Have fun reading, or hope you enjoyed the book if you’ve already read!☘️
A fitting ending to a brilliant series. Heart-wrenching at times, and filled with heart-pounding action at others. Lorelei and Zane's journey was one for the books. The Spring Court Princess and the Ethereum Lord battled the odds and came out swinging. The journey was filled with angst, heartbreak, sadness, longing, and a slowly developing love that split the heavens. Lorelei grew so much during this story, that she quickly became my favorite princess. Zane was everything! Strong, handsome, sweet, caring, protective, and patient. He'd waited his whole life for his mate and I couldn't help but root for him and Lorelei.
The heart-pounding action was fast-paced and kept me on my toes. The bad guy was superbly written. She was everything I loved to hate. She would stop at nothing to cure the curse, killing anyone who got in her way. I love that characters from previous books have active parts in this story and it advanced the story beyond my dreams. I especially loved the closed door spice! It only enhanced the heart of the book. There was one part where I almost threw my Kindleb cross the room. I gasped so hard, and my heart raced as I turned the pages.
If you haven't read the Cursed Fae series, I highly encourage you to try it now, you won't be disappointed. The writing was flawless and the magic system unique. The series itself was filled with awesome world-building and each book showed great character development for our heroes/heroines. I can’t say enough about this series!
🖤 ⚜️ Book Title - Black Hearted ⚜️ Author - Leia Stone & Julie Hall ⚜️ Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⚜️ Some Genre/Themes/Tropes: Adult Fiction, Romance and Fantasy
I received an advanced published reader copy of this book via HQ and Julie Hall. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This is my honest review.
This was the perfect wrap-up to a truly bingeworthy series! 🥹
Lorelei, our sweet but tough FMC, and Zane, the charming and lovable MMC, made such a heartwarming couple. Their relationship felt so satisfying, because they balanced each other.
What I really appreciated was how everything tied together at the end. I didn’t notice any loose threads and thought they were wrapped up nicely. It didn’t feel rushed or overshadowed by the plot or cramming everything in within the last 15%. And let me just say… the twists, twisted!
I’m a little sad it’s all over, but honestly, I know this is a series I’ll reread. The overall story and sub stories makes it one worth revisiting.
I would recommend this book to others. I definitely will look for other books written by this author.
I want to say thank you to the author and publisher for the gifted copy.
Note (How I rate): One is DNF. Two is got there but struggled. Three stars is a good, enjoyable read. Four is an excellent read and five is a comfort read that lingers with me for life. My five stars can be imperfect but to me they hit right.
Thank you so much, Harlequin Australia, for sending me this fabulous book!
Oh, what a great conclusion!
"Black Hearted" is the fourth and final instalment of The Cursed Fae series and the story of Lorelei, the Faerie Princess of the Spring Court and the Ethereum Lord, Zane.
The ending of the third book left things in a desperate state. Lorelei is captured by the evil queen, who has a crazy plan to carve the heart of the Ethereum Lord to bring magic back to the Faerie lands.
Zane drops everything and enters the world of his destined mate, risking being captured and brought before the Summer Queen. But his connection to Lorelei only grows and strengthens as his will to rescue the princess from the queen's clutches.
Oh my, what a journey it was! They are so close to ending the curse, but as it always happens, the final leg of the path is the most difficult one! After reading about the first three reunions of the Princesses of Summer, Autumn and Winter courts with their mates, I think the final book is the most heartbreaking of them all!
I loved the fact that Zane is the main character of the story, and his connection with Lorelei is the sweetest!
This series is an enchanted fairytale! It was a perfect blend of magic and adventure wrapped in the sweetest love story! Every romantasy reader needs The Cursed Fae series in their life for sure!
Black Hearted is the final book in the Cursed Fae series and a wonderful conclusion.
I feel in love with Zane, he is such a sweet cinnamon roll MMC. He is strong yet caring and the perfect partner for Lorelei, Princess of the Spring Court. Lorelei has been described by her fellow princesses as the softest amongst them, but while she displayed those sweet tendencies she was also a really strong FMC. Lorelei is calm when presented with dangers and selfless. The story is predominantly told from the POV’s of Zane and Lorelei, with a few extra perspectives added in. I love that this book really brought home the found family elements and delivered on the Happily Ever Afters.
This story is heartwarming, full of twists and plenty of tension. The romance is sweet and a bit of slower burn but perfect for these two characters.
I highly recommend this series if you are looking for an easy to read fantasy series with a fae focus. It ticks all of the trope boxes and is an incredible binge read.
Thank you to Leia Stone and Harlequin Australia for gifting me with copies in exchange for an honest review.
A heartbreakingly epic fated mates fantasy romance filled with friendships, determination, hope, and love where sacrifice can lead to a whole new future full of possibilities.
A fae lord searching for his true love and his part in saving two kingdoms. A soft-spoken princess trusting in old an new friends to save two kingdoms. Separately they would be enemies. Together they can heal the kingdoms and forge a new path. Renewed hope for a better future.
I love the storyline and how it intertwines with the previous books to provide an overall series conclusion. I appreciate that each book in this series is a stand alone, yet interconnected to the other books in the series for one common goal: break the curse and save the kingdoms, bringing peace and love along the way.
"This wasn't just about saving the seelie in Faerie anymore. It was about saving all the souls in Ethereum, too."
Another wild, emotional, and addictive story in Leia Stone and Julie Hall’s Cursed Fae series!
Black Hearted raises the stakes in every possible way, the curse is spreading, the tension between realms is boiling over, and the romance? Deliciously dangerous. I love how this world keeps expanding, full of magic, betrayal, and heartbreak.
The dynamic between the last princess of Faerie and the dark Ethereum lord is everything I crave in a romantasy: enemies to lovers, only one bed, forbidden love.. yes, please. 🖤 The chemistry absolutely sizzles while the world teeters on the edge of destruction.
Leia Stone and Julie Hall continue to deliver that perfect blend of high stakes fantasy and swoony, slow burn romance that makes me devour these books in one sitting.
This series just gets better with every book and sad to see it end.....maybe a spin off series? *cough cough*
If you love Sarah J. Maas, fae politics, curses, and heart thumping romance, this one’s for you.
I loved reading Black Hearted. While I am sad that the series has come to an end, I really liked the finish. I thought that it was a good ending that didn't leave you hanging. I loved the pacing; I thought it was quick and that it also kept you interested. I couldn't put it down. I loved Zane and Lorelei. I also loved the different POV's. It was also heartbreaking what happened with Leianna. I really felt for Dawn. I can't wait to see what Leia Stone and Julie Hall come up with next. While each book follows a different couple and can technically be read in any order, I don't recommend reading the series out of order. There aren't really any recaps on what's what throughout the series. If you were to read the series out of order, I recommend reading Black Hearted last because it will spoil the end of everything for you. I highly recommend this series; it had me hooked from the start!
Black Hearted is the final book to the Cursed Fae series!
This was such a great ending to this series. We get POVs from both Zane and Lorelei throughout the story. Zane was such a caring and strong partner for Lorelei. Lorelei was very soft and sweet towards everyone but she was also a very strong character and could be very calm when put in a dangerous situation. Bit of a slower burn romance between these two, but it definitely fits them both.
There were so many twists and turns with romance, laughs, and tears throughout the entire series and story. I did find the ending great. It is a fast read through them all but definitely worth the read.
I would highly recommend this series if you like the fantasy romance type!
Black Hearted is the final book in the Cursed Fae series and it delivered!
A fantastic conclusion to the series, full of twists, magic, humor, love and heart break. This story follows Zane on his quest to find his mate, the Spring Princess Lorelei, and ultimately break the curse over both their lands. Zane has such a big heart and Lorelei is the perfect match for him, both of them with the same inner strength and determination. I enjoyed the different POVs and how the other princesses and lords were part of the story as well.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book! Leia and Julie never disappoint and I never hesitate to read anything they put out because I know I’ll get all the feels and close a book well satisfied!
Oh wow, what a great conclusion to the series. I was not expecting the story to take the path as it did, but I am very happy with all the turns of events and how on edge it made me near the end. Hats off to the authors for bringing this amazing story to life with lots of chemistry and no spice. I mean, I didn’t feel the need for spice. It was so perfect as it is. The characters were racing against time to cure the curse, and Zane's actions were flawless. Heart melting. The story has some additional PoVs too, which enhanced the reading experience and, at the same time, gave a glimpse of what’s happening back at home too. It was an enriching experience of the fantasy world. Must try.
I'm so happy the series got back on track for this one. The third book fell flat for me (which I didn't expect based on the first two books), but I started and finished this one of the same day. I couldn't put it down. The authors did a better job of showing us what was going on instead of telling us. I wish this series had more description to really get us into the scene; what were people wearing, what does the room look like, what does it smell like? Not overkill for every scene, but a bit more descriptors now and then would be welcome ☺️
Side note: (SPOILER*****) a really jarring moment for me is when Dawn is describing the death of her mother as Discombobulating... that threw me right out of the story.
This was a good end to the series. We get a few extra viewpoints added in this time (mostly Dawn but also the villain). The pacing is great, there’s plenty of new worlds and adventure coupled with action, and some new characters that will melt your little heart. The villain is a bit basic and really doesn’t play to the motivation, but it’s a very small complaint in what has been an excellent series. It is very insta love, but as our MCs are travelling trying to find each other it doesn’t play out terribly as it has that time to build momentum between them before they can act on anything. Truly it’s a PG book until the very end; concentrating on action and plans and ending curses above all else.
A definitely worthy ending to this series and I'm so happy now that all brothers have found their mates and the world is safe.
I really liked how this book differed from the others, not only by because Zane traveled to Fayrie, but also because we got answers to so many questions I had throughout the series and we also got to see the couples all come together and battle our big villain. And I love the alternating POV's, they worked well in the book.
The romance between Zane and Lorelai did not disappoint and it was so cool that they grew closer because of Lorelai's powers! Sleepwalking can be such a tricky trope but in here, worked wonders and really opened up ways for Zane to get her parents to trust him quickly. The found family trope was also strong on this one and I adored it. Nellie was such a perfect addition to the mission and my heart soared over her and the bond she formed with Zane. Love, love, love.
I'm kind of sad the series is now completed but in all honesty, it was a really good place to stop and I'm so happy the series is now complete. I'm gonna miss the princesses of Fayrie and Lords of Ethereum but it'll be so much fun to return to them for a re-read.
The fourth and final book in the successful series by Stone and Hall does not disappoint. Each of the four princesses and Lords have unique personalities and powers. This last pairing faces seemingly insurmountable obstacles. The summer Queen is determined to complete the task of taking a black heart from one of the Lords even if it means killing her daughter’s husband. The obscure Wise Ones reveal a challenge requiring the greatest sacrifice to break the curse on both worlds.
Get the whole series and read them all! You’ll be glad you did❣️
