When Trend magazine contracts Lindstrom & Sons to manage a fashion shoot in Yellowstone, easygoing Lars Lindstrom rolls his eyes. "Babysitting" supermodel Samara Amaya's assistant sounds like a snore, even amidst the park's lush wildlife and scenery. Little does he know that Jane Mays, Samara's down-to-earth, smart-mouthed assistant and cousin, will be the most exciting person he's ever met. Her smoky voice and surprisingly sweet heart rock his world.
Jane has been hurt before, but this time it's right. From loving the same music to their effortlessly sexy sparring, her handsome new tour guide gets her--and Jane is getting Lars right back until Samara blows into town. Used to living in her cousin's shadow, Jane knows Lars will be nothing more than a notch in a bedpost if the spoiled supermodel has her way. In the past, maybe she would have stepped aside. This time she'll find the strength to stand up to Samara once and for all...and trust that Lars will be there to catch her if she falls.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Regnery has a heart for smart romance featuring strong women and decent men. Almost exclusively self-published, Katy claims authorship of over 60 titles, including three RITA® finalists. Translated into French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, and Turkish, Katy has sold over 1.8 million books worldwide.
The only HEA I would find acceptable is if the horrible cousin/evil OW Samaya aka Sara had either been eaten by a Grizzly, frozen on an iceberg or assassinated by her entourage.
Authors are not supposed to have favorites. I know that. We're supposed to love all of our books the same. (And I do love all of my books...) But there is something about Lars Lindstrom that totally captured my heart. I hope he captures yours, too. xoxo
I am having major conflicted feelings about this book. Let me start by saying that I'm relatively new in the Katy Regnery world and have recently read most of her Blueberry Lane series and absolutely adored them. Having really enjoyed them, I turned to some of her earlier work in hopes of more of Regenery's magic. I have to be honest, I was quite disappointed with the first few books in the Heart of Montana series because I felt that the characters were too one dimensional and a little bit too self righteous. But still I continued carrying on because the author herself compared Lars, the male lead in this book, to some of my favourite in the Blueberry Lane series (Preston, Fitz). Let me assure you, Lars is nothing like them, in the sense that he does not have a spark that those other leads have. And that in itself, has led me to be quite disappointed with this book. I think what frustrated me most is the fact that Lars was not a true romantic, or someone you could really see cared for Jane, instead his partial infatuation with Sara made him seem childish. Jane was a likeable character but as the book progressed her lack of backbone became tiresome. She was not a strong female lead. Last, I think Sara/Samara left a bitter taste in my mouth. I feel that the author could have done many things to have Sara get her comeuppance but missed out on those opportunities thus leaving the story feeling like it was left unfinished...
"I'm the girl that's the friend, Lars. I'm the girl you talk to about the girl you're going out with on Friday night. I'm the girl who tells you which restaurant to take her to, and what wine she hopes you'll order. I'll even come over beforehand and help you pick out what shirt to wear, and if you forget your wallet while you're out with her, I'll jimmy your bedroom window open, find it in the pants you wore yesterday and drive it to the restaurant. And when I hand it to you, she'll look at me like I'm nothing...."
As soon as I read that line, I was completely sold on this book because I am that girl. I'm Jane. I grew up living in the shadow of an attractive and talented cousin in Boston, just like Jane did. (Although mine was a lot nicer than Jane's cousin) I like to listen to 60s music. (In fact, I even own one of the cds they're listening to, lol)
You don't need to have that much in common with Jane to relate to her, however. If you've ever felt lost and beaten down by life, then you can relate to Jane and you'll be rooting for her every step of the way on her journey to love and fulfillment.
In simple terms: This is a really sweet Cinderella story with a modern day twist....read it, you won't be disappointed. :)
I found this book online from a friends recommendation and originally got it because it was set in Yellowstone. I grew up an hour and a half from Yellowstone and wanted to get some good memories. It didn't disappoint! The bantering between the characters was fun, the tension moved it forward, and I couldn't wait to get back into it whenever I had to set it down.
The only thing that I didn't like about the story was Jane's submission to her cousin. I'd just start to think that Jane finally got a spine, and was about to stand up to her, when she'd let her walk on her again. I kind of wanted her to stand up to Samara early, and see how that plays out. I just wanted to throw my kindle against the wall like twenty times, but I think that was part of the overall appeal.
I liked the book so much I bought another one of hers and called my mom to tell her about it.
Though I enjoyed many things about this book, and though I REALLY loved Lars, I had mixed feelings about Jane and at some point I felt the story dragged, I guess it had mostly to do with Jane, her mixed feelings and insecurities. Even though I felt her pain, even though she is VERY relatable on so many levels, it took her TOO long and while she was worried about HER heart being broken she totally missed how much she hurt Lars with the way she guarded herself.
Jane is not only the assistant but also the cousin of the gorgeous Samara Amaya. She comes to Gardiner to help prepare for Samara's shoots later that week. Coming early means a few days off, from the demanding and downright EVIL Samara. Samara doesn't have ANY redeeming traits, even at her best (near the end) she was still selfish in her behavior and her father, Jane's uncle was even WORSE, I felt he was using her emotionally even more than Samara ever did. So let's just say that Jane has a horrible life she hates and she doesn't have anyone else besides Samara and her parents since her mother and father died when she was ten years old. Back to the story.. working under Samara means being "plain Jane", the one no one looks at, and even when someone WAS interested in her it ended once the stunning Samara entered the guys' vision. So it's no wonder than even though she and Lars seems to connect she pushes him away at any turn, not believing anything can actually hold once her cousin arrives.
I felt sorry for her, for her childhood, for having to deal with Samara, with a demanding uncle who looks like her father (they were twins) but expects her to do Samara's bidding no matter how much it drains her, hurts her and how down right abusing the whole thing is! Also being a "plain looking girl" attached to one of the most beautiful girls out there is also hard on one's self esteem not to mention Samara would gladly take from Jane just to spite her. What she shared with Lars while they were alone, just the two of them, was everything she could have asked for. He isn't just beautiful, sexy, sweet and kind, they also share a lot in common, they enjoy each other's company and listening to 60s music.
Lars have always been a player. It's not that he doesn't want to settle down, it's just there is NO ONE there for him in the small town of Gardiner, and unlike his siblings who found their HEA in the surrounding towns, Lars would NEVER leave Yellowstone behind. Being a tour guide, just wandering around in the park is his LIFE AND PASSION. What he finds in Jane he hasn't found with ANYONE, and he so wishes they could build a future together, maybe Jane would even stay and leave her horrible cousin to go back to New York and find others to torment. But Jane is playing "hard to get", she is SO insecure every step of the way she plays hot-cold, and it's exhausting really, for me at least, for him it's frustrating and also hurts.. no matter what he says or does, Jane NEVER seems to trust him.
It gets even worse once Samara arrives and decides she is having Lars no matter what and him saying no to her is NOT an option. What a bitch.. hurting Jane is one thing, but also using a guy who isn't even into you?! The fact Samara got her way practically the WHOLE book, up until the end was SO annoying. She never actually "paid" for anything bad she did, the hurt she spread around on the contrary.
There's a small sub plot about Lars' place in the family's business, I thought it would play out differently, but I think it's best the way it did. I wish we got more of that, more of the Lindstrom family in general and not only the family gathering with all the small babies. I liked we got more of Maggie and Paul, getting ready for both Paul's book and Nils and Maggie's right after to finish the series.
All in all it was an okay read. I liked the idea behind it, I liked Lars and I think Jane is the sort of "anti-hero" that SHOULD be a hero, someone like "you and me", a regular Joe so to speak, but I wish her insecurities didn't take THAT MUCH of the plot and didn't hurt Lars as much as they did. He didn't deserve that. It's not only he was a pawn in Samara's playground he was also a ball thrown and caught by Jane.
See Jane Fall is the 3rd book of the Heart of Montana series but it can be read as a standalone. But once you read See Jane Fall you will want to go back to the other books – because you will fall in love with Gardiner, Montana and the Lindstrom family. I loved Lars and Jane’s love story!
With the Heart of Montana series author Katy Regnery has taken us along the ride with the Lindstrom siblings, as they each search for their own happiness. I love this series because of the family unity of the Lindstroms (they aren’t perfect but when it comes down to it they truly love and protect one another). I love the small town setting filled with characters that are realistic and that we can identify with. And I love that this series is about finding your soul mate.
The previous books made me laugh and cry, and made my heart pound from swoon worthy moments. See Jane Fall brought out all those emotions again, but I was really surprised to feel something new: anger and hatred. All because of one character – Samara Amaya! I actually started hating this character from the first chapter – and these were just from Jane’s narrative. Samara hadn’t even made an official appearance in the story yet! I was immediately surprised at how I had this reaction and also because of how the author stirred this up in me. Katy Regnery has written some memorable scenes in all her books that have touched my heart, so it was nice to see this other side of the author. She has shown that she can write the sweet romance but also write the conflict and drama that adds excitement to the story. See Jane Fall was a nice surprise and it was so difficult for me to put down.
See Jane Fall is the story of “Plain Jane” Mays falling in love with the sexy tour guide Lars Lindstrom. Jane and Lars are a perfect match – they love the same music, have the same sense of humor, and appreciate the beautiful Yellowstone park. And they also are both working for family that do not appreciate them and are holding them back from their dreams. Even though they are a perfect match, their insecurities and fears will get in the way of their happiness. See Jane Fall is not a “perfect” romance story. It is a complicated and realistic love story about two people that have to learn that you need to stand-up and fight for what you want. Will Jane and Lars learn this important lesson in time before they lose their chance of happiness? You have to read See Jane Fall to find out.
I highly recommend this book to all romance novel fans. You will get hooked on the Heart of Montana series!!
This is my review for See Jane Fall (Heart Of Montana #3) I've been following Katy Regnery Since her debut with By proxy (Heart Of Montana #1) which I totally loved. I went on to win a copy of her novella The Christmas Wish also part of the Heart Of Montana series. And of course I fell in love with that story as well. Then Katy released Midsummer Sweetheart (Heart Of Montana #2) which totally blew me away. I didn't think it would get any better than that but See Jane Fall has become my favorite so far. I loved them all but there is something about Jane that I think every woman can relate to. She sees herself as a plain Jane. Every woman has viewed herself this way at one point in their lives. And Lars. He is so sweet. He won my heart. I was hooked by the first chapter. I didn't want to put this one down. I loved reading about their journey even if at times it made me mad. I loved their banter. I loved their sweetness. I felt their pain. He'll I even cursed them out loud. Cheered them on. Rejoiced in their successful outcome. It almost felt like I was riding along with them through their wonderful journey. I was sad to see this one end as I am with all Katy's books. But I'm excited for the next in this series because I know Katy only gets better with each story she weaves. If your looking for a sweet romance with love able true to life characters and some sweet heat then you need to read this one. I highly recommend See Jane Fall. And don't worry you can read this as a stand alone or just read the entire series(Which I highly recommend). You will not be disappointed. These sweet stories will forever stay in your heart just as they will mine. I so look forward to future stories from Miss Regnery. And I can't wait to start rereading See Jane Fall. What can I say Katy, you have gone and done it again. Thank you so much for writing such a warm sweet and beautiful story. Thank you for sharing these wonderful Characters with us all.
Series: Heart of Montana #3 Category /Genre: Contemporary Romance Received from: Katy Regnery (in exchange for an honest review) Tour by: Book Plug Promotions Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content (mild) Grammar/editing: A – near perfect
This is the third book in this series. It does stand alone.
I loved this story of the meeker, quieter, less spectacular cousin winning the hunk. This story is a lovely reminder that beauty (and desire) are in the eye of the beholder. The dialogue is witty and comfortable. There is plenty of reference to great music from the 60s, which happens to be within my list of favorite music and reinforced my theory that our lives should have a soundtrack to warn us when the shark is about to bite or we have me our own prince(ss) charming. As a plus, BDSM is reference towards the end in a very positive manner that had me giggling.
I would love to read more of this series and hopefully more from this talented author.
Love, love, love this story! It maybe my favorite in the series so far. The characters are phenomenal! So much fun in Montana! Lars was one of my favorites from before so I'm happy this is his story a great read. I also loved "plain Jane" and Sarah. A complicated relationship, but in the end it was great! I loved the ending too. For a moment it caught me a little off guard! I was on the edge of my seat for a moment there.
I had to finish in one sitting. I just couldn't put it down. I had to know what happened next and when I finished I wanted more. I'm greedy like that :) I just loved it though. I highly recommend you read this book even if you aren't familiar with the series! Its a great read. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series, but then again I am always looking forward to Katy's next work!
See Jane Fall is the third book in the Montana series by Katy Regnery but it can be read as a stand alone. I did not read the first two books in the series and I never felt lost in this book.
Jane sees herself as plain Jane; I think every woman can relate to feeling like that at some point in their life. Jane has always lived in the shadow of her famous cousin, Sara. And then there’s Lars, the simple guy who thinks that Jane is anything but plain.
They had good chemistry and their journey was a sweet one, don’t get me wrong there were times I got mad at them and felt their pain. During their journey I cheered them on and was happy that they had a successful outcome.
If you like a sweet romance with true to life characters and a little heat then you need to read See Jane Fall.
Our Queen of Romance, Katy Regnery, has done it again. HOT HOT HOT! Simply couldn't put it down. I think Lars and Jane are my fav. Katy- couple yet. Lars is so sexy, so romantic, so... OK. Stop. Book boyfriend alert! Jane is vulnerable, sweet, funny, down to earth, loving,... and she just found her perfect match in Lars. I do have to admit there were moments I wanted to scream at Lars - he can be such a guy! - but I couldn't help falling for him, along with Jane. 'See Jane Fall' is romantic, sweet, moving... and very sexy ;-) Absolutely LOVED it!
What's not to love about a book that is set in Yellowstone and music from the late 60's. Lars is my new book boyfriend, ok so it was a love/hate relationship to begin with but he redeemed himself. Jane has had a hard life always living in the shadow of her cousin, Sara. Jane deserves something good in life. Sara, otherwise known as Samara, I would like to reach into my book and strangle her. This book is #3 of Heart of Montana, but can be read as a stand alone. I highly recommend this series. Katy is now on my auto buy list. I received this galley copy as a gift from the author for an honest review.
Another winner by Katy Regenery! See Jane Fall is a fabulous third book in Katy's Heart of Montana series. Jane thinks of herself as a "plain Jane" but Lars certainly doesn't think of her that way! The struggles and demands of family ties pull on both Jane and Lars, and the reader feels the emotion on every single page. Jane and Lars' attraction is hot, their chemistry immediate and the reader is rooting for their romance from the beginning. Everything about this story draws the reader in, the dialogue, the description, the emotions... I so love this series!
The third book in the Heart of Montana series by the wonderful Kate Regnery does not disappoint in any way. There is such detail to events in a remarkably well written story. The characters are well defined and believable as you move thru the story with them. The journey Lars and Jane embark on is fast paced and full of attraction and obstacles as well as a growing love. I am always enthralled when reading books by this author.
The third installment of the Heart of Montana series and it does not disappoint. A heartwarming and at times heartbreaking story. Lars and Jane are instantly drawn to one another but due to her own insecurities and dominating family Jane doesn't think anyone can truly love her. Read this wonderful story to see how her struggles unfold. I highly recommend it.

The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mode but the true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years. – Audrey Hepburn
A mother takes twenty years to make a man of her boy, and another woman makes a fool of him in twenty minutes. – Robert Frost
Jane has a life I would never want to even attempt. Orphaned at ten, she is shuffled off to live with her uncle Mays, her father’s twin brother and his family. Broken hearted and alone, she is shuffled to the side by her aunt and their daughter, Sara, who are furiously jealous of any attention that her uncle bestows upon her – the only daughter of his beloved twin.
There is another difficulty – for Sara is that incredibly rare creation of nature, a perfect beauty. The kind of beauty that leaves women in despair, and whom men . . .? Well, drooling idiot comes to mind. And let’s just say that Sara has that whole “bee-atch” thing down to a science. Hateful, vicious, self-centred, cruel, demanding, “fill in nasty descriptor here.” And Jane? Well, being the technical assistant to now supermodel Sara for the last five years (because uncle asked, and of course Jane can’t turn him down), Jane has withstood more poisonous vituperation than any one sweet, gentle, kind, good natured woman should have to stand.
As the third in the Heart of Montana Romance series, you no doubt can guess that the next shoot is to be set in Yellowstone, one of the most beautiful parks in the world, much less the United States. As always, Katy gives you a taste of the awesome beauty of Northern Montana all through the book, from the Loop to Sheepeaters, Old Faithful and Yellowstone Lake. The town of Gardiner plays its part as well, acting as the quaint and historical setting for all 720 of its inhabitants.
Coming ahead to set things up for Sara, or ‘Samara’ as she calls herself now, Jane meets Lars Lindstrom, who is set to be the local tour guide for Samara’s entourage. Fully loaded down with Samara’s ‘send ahead’ luggage: “I think it was eight bags. Maybe nine. Maybe eighty-six thousand and twenty-four. I can’t remember.” And the first thing Lars thinks is. . . “She really wasn’t much to look at.” Sigh. And there you go. The set up for pain, misunderstandings, and sheer stupidity on the part of the male population of the little town of Gardiner – and especially on the part of one naïve Swede named Lars. One stupid, drooling, fawning, naïve Swede named Lars. Sigh. So, though Lars is apparently drawn to Jane’s wit, courage, kindness, and a growing knowledge of how lovely she truly is, and refuses to believe that he will fall into Samara when she arrives, lured to her by her breathtaking beauty – and though Jane wishes with all her heart that she could be wrong, that he could be that .01% of the population that doesn’t fall under her spell – well.
Believe me, Samara is one person that anyone with a conscience should happily love to hate. And my blood boiled with it, I must admit. The thing Sara truly doesn’t comprehend? Beauty is ever to the lonely mind a shadow fleeting; she is never plain. She is a visitor who leaves behind the gift of grief, the souvenir of pain1. Sara may be beautiful for a few more, fleeting years – but Jane. Jane will be beautiful forever… But will Lars figure that out? Or will he, like so many others, be merely another broken toy, flung aside by a spoiled, vindictive child-woman, while Jane herself is once again left to fade into the background? No way, People. You HAVE to read this book; I certainly am not going to tell you!
Katy’s handling of Samara and Jane, as well as Lars, Nils, Maggie, and the rest of the characters in this third of this marvelous series, is as wonderfully handled as always. She draws you into the characters and the landscape, and the reader can’t help but long for the stunning vistas of Montana, and the presence of its people, as the story wraps around your heart and mind and pulls you in.
And is it silly to say how much I love the Swedish language peppered throughout the story? Katy imbues her books with the strength and loyalty that threads throughout the families in her books. The feeling of not only history and pride in heritage, but the love and compassion that the families have for not only their blood relations, but for their friends and neighbors. Vardefull (I can’t find the a with the two little dots over the top, darn umlauts!) Anyway, the word means “valuable…precious” sort of what I feel about Katy’s books. One way or the other, this has always been one of my favorite things about her writing. Her focus on a family life lived well, even if Jane’s personal family is a train wreck, Lars’ definitely isn’t.
Fair warning: Toward the end of the book one of the characters decides to engage in a BDSM lifestyle, although graphic scenes are not included in the book. This bothered me. If you are offended by this “lifestyle” as I am, please keep this in mind.
This book was provided to me by Heather Davenport at Book Plug Promotions in return for an honest review. No remuneration was exchanged. All thoughts and statements are my own.

Blurb: When a plain Jane photographer faces off with her supermodel cousin to win an easygoing cowboy’s heart, someone’s going to fall. Hard. Synopsis:
DIZZYING HEIGHTS
When his company is contracted by a magazine to help with a fashion photo shoot, easy-going Yellowstone tour guide Lars Lindstrom rolls his eyes. This means he’ll have to “babysit” supermodel Samara Amaya’s assistant. Little does he know that Jane Mays, Samara’s down-to-earth, smart-mouthed assistant and cousin, with her smoky voice and surprisingly soft heart, is someone of whom he can’t get enough—or that spoiled Samara has her sights set on a weekend fling with him and will do just about anything to get her way.
When a plain Jane faces off with a supermodel to win a cowboy’s heart, just about anyone can end up taking a fall. This time it’ll be for good. AUTHOR BIO:katy-regnery-2
KATY REGNERY, contemporary romance author of the Heart of Montana and Enchanted Places series, has always loved telling a good story. She credits her mother with making funny, heartwarming tales come alive throughout her childhood. A lifelong devotee of all romance writing, from Edwardian to present-day, it was just a matter of time before Katy tried her hand at writing a love story of her own. Living in northern Fairfield County, Connecticut, where her writing room looks out at the woods, her family creates just enough cheerful chaos to remind her that the very best love stories of all are the messy and unexpected ones.
Please track down Katy on Twitter (@KatyRegnery) or Facebook (KatyRegnery) where she loves interacting with her fans…especially at #LunchtimeLiveWithKaty every weekday from 12-1pm EST.
Minor characters: Sara/Samara (her cousin/model), Paul (his best friend), Maggie (her new friend, practically his sister), Nills (his older brother)
My thoughts:
I loved the angst in this one. And that it came from both Jane and Lars. It came across as so distinct between the two of them. It was easy to separate his thoughts from hers, but at the same time they sort of mirrored each other.
Even though the story takes place basically in a week it felt like longer because there was so much detail and development. Nothing felt rushed or forced.
The only thing that didn’t seem to fit for me was the dream Lars has in the beginning. It’s clear it’s about Jane, but it doesn’t ever come back into the story. I don’t understand why it was needed. It wasn’t bad but it just seemed odd.
I loved how much I learned about Maggie and Nills and Paul, without taking away from Jane and Lars. I’m incredibly intrigued by them and can’t wait to find out what’s going on.
It was another great addition to a great series.
Synopsis:
Jane’s parents were killed in a car accident when she was 10. She was taken in by her uncle, her dads twin brother. She was devastated. Sara is her cousin.
As they got older Sara became jealous of the attention Jane got from Sara's dad and started to resent her. Jane felt obligated to be perfect for her uncle since he took her in. It was hard for her because he was her dads twin. It was almost like she had her dad back, but she really didn’t.
Sara was gorgeous and Jane felt inferior. Sara became a model and was a diva. Jane wanted to be a photographer. Sara’s attitude was starting to cost her jobs so her dad asked Jane to help get Sara’s career back on track. Jane didn’t want to, but felt obligated. Jane became Sara’s assistant.
Sara was awful to her, but Jane helped things run smoothly. Everyone likes her. She's lonely and often thinks of quitting. But she knows her uncle will disown her and he's he only family she has left.
One job Jane met their guide Ben and hit it off. They slept together and she thought it was the start of something. Then Sara came into town and Ben was smitten. He told Jane it was like Sara was the sun and everything else just paled in comparison.
Lars is the second of four children. He grew up in Yellowstone Park and loves it. His dad runs a tour guide company and when they got old enough the brothers started working for him. Erik moved away, book 2, and his shares went to Nills and their dad.
Lars has begun to feel unsatisfied with his job. He loves the park and wants more responsibility. He wants to be equal partners with his dad and Nills. He gets all the celebrity assignments.
Sara books a job at Yellowstone and Jane flies out a few days early to make sure everything is set up for her.
She thinks Lars is gorgeous and knows Sara will seduce him within days.
On the ride back to town they hit it off. She feels safe and comfortable with him. He thinks she’s clever and adorable.
Later that night he picks her up to show her the town. He finds out she's Samara's cousin. That their fathers were brothers. She expects him to inspect her for similarities with Samara like everyone else does but all he can focus on is that someone lost their father.
He explains he lost his mother and they bond even further. He likes her more and more each minute and thinks she's not interested in him. She is extremely interested in him but knows it doesn't matter once Samara comes to town.
That night she walks into town and meets Maggie and Paul. They hit it off immediately. She learns Maggie set Paul up on an internet dating site and he met someone. Paul lets it slip that Lars is a player which is disappointing for Jane. They invite her to play cards with them and Nils the next night.
Lars picks her up the next morning and she seems distant. He doesn't like it.
He takes her to see the shoot locations and she decides they can be friendly with each other. That maybe it won't be like last time because she'll know going in that he'll choose Samara.
She jokes with him and he calls her cute. She tells him he doesn't need to try and flatter her. He tells her he's not. She tells him she's not the girl the guys like. That she's the friend the guys confide in. He shuts her up by kissing her.
He asks her out to see the town fireworks show. She says yes.
She sends Samara photos of the shoot locations and accidentally sends 2 of Lars. Samara is interested in him and demands an introduction immediately. Jane is devastated. Samara tells Jane Lars won't be interested in her and it's best she keeps away for her own sake.
They go on their date and find that they both work for family and don't love it. She wanted to be a photographer and he wants to feel like an equal.
They flirt and drink wine while having a picnic. They make out and Paul interrupts. Lars can see Paul and Jane are friendly and he's jealous. She thinks it's funny.
At the end of the night he takes her home and she tells him it's been great but Samara will need him. He's confused and doesn't understand what that has to do with them. That he likes her. That he's not going to leave her just because Samara shows up. She knows he's telling the truth, but also that he's wrong.
He tells her he's really into her and she gets emotional. He asks why she won't trust him and she tells him what happened with Ben. He understands but tells her he's not Ben.
The next day he takes her to the airport to get Samara and she tells him hey should put their relationship on ice until Samara leaves. She doesn't want him to feel obligated to her if he likes Samara
He's disappointed and knows they only have a small amount of time together before she goes back home. He tries to explain how much he likes her and wants to give them a chance but he knows she's not hearing him. He gets angry and hurt.
Samara arrives and pretends she and Jane are best friends to look good in front of Lars. Lars is taken by how beautiful she is. Jane notices and is hurt.
Lars is confused because Samara is so nice and friendly and Jane led him to believe she'd be awful. He's disappointed in himself for reacting to Samara when he just pleaded with Jane that they could stay together because Samara wouldn't matter. Then he remembers she dumped him anyway and is conflicted.
Jane starts to wonder if Lars would have chosen her if she hadn't pushed him away.
Jane decides she's not going with the team when everyone moves onto the next city for a weekend shoot.
Maggie shows up early the next morning with coffee and Samara is rude and obnoxious to her. Maggie tells Jane that Samara is abusive. Jane assures her she's fine. Maggie asks about Lars and Jane tells her they broke up and he's interested in Samara.
Maggie finds Lars and tells him Samara is rude. She tells him how Samara treated Jane and Lars can't believe it. Lars tells her Jane dumped him. That he can do whatever he wants with whomever he wants.
Samara keeps reminding Jane that Lars is coming over that night to sleep with her. Jane is crushed.
Lars is conflicted. He's attracted to Samara but can't understand how Maggie got the impression she did. Then he sees Jane and wants her but remembers she dumped him.
His dad and Nils tell him they want to give him more responsibility at work. That they're thinking of opening another branch of the company that will deal exclusively with the celebrities and rich people and Lars can run it with majority ownership. They tell him if the Samara shoot runs smoothly it's all his.
He bumps into Jane at the shoot and she seems disinterested while he's dying inside. He gets angry and tells her he thinks Samara is amazing. She's hurt.
He goes to see Samara and she's waiting in her room in lingerie. She comes onto him and he likes it. They kiss and it all feels wrong. An assistant interrupts and Samara is rude. He notices how scared the assistant is and thinks maybe Maggie was right. That Samara is pretending for him.
She invites him over but he declines saying he has paperwork to do. He notices a hat Jane always wears, that belonged to her dad, and feels guilty for kissing Samara.
He bumps into Jane as he's leaving and she offers him champagne for him and Samara. He tells her he's not staying and she's hopeful he turned Samara down. He gets angry that she's hopeful and tells her he got a raincheck. She gets angry and he realizes she still likes him.
Jane goes to see Samara and finds Samara destroying her dads hat. Jane is devastated. Samara knows she went too far. Jane tells her she isn't going with the team to the next town on the weekend.
He takes them both home and can tell something is wrong. He asks Jane when they're alone and she asks if he's ever felt like he's on the wrong path. He wants to help but doesn't know what to do. She tells him just listening is enough. He decides he's going to find a way for them to try again.
The next day Samara comes on to him and invites him to spend the weekend with her. He plays along because his job depends on her review but he's vague with confirmations. Jane overhears and thinks he's going with Samara.
Lars realizes he won't have time in the park if he has to work with the celebrities. He's bored at the shoot and tries to figure out how to ask Jane to spend the weekend with him.
Everyone is waiting for Old Faithful to erupt for a photo and Jane decides to go after Lars. She finds him and asks if he's going to Samara's that night or for the weekend. The geyser starts to erupt before he can answer and he runs off to tell the crew, so they don't have to wait for the next eruption.
He realizes what he did and is determined to set things straight with Jane.
Samara tells Jane she's not needed on the weekend trip because Lars is coming. She makes the assistant tell Jane how she walked in on Lars kissing Samara. That she was only in her underwear because Lars undressed her and they would have slept together if they weren't interrupted.
Jane decides she's done with Samara and quits. She rushes back to her hotel. She's devastated over Lars.
He sees Jane leave and knows something is wrong but had to stay with Samara. He takes her home later and she comes onto him in the car. She mentions Jane isn't going with the team when they leave for the weekend and Lars is thrilled. She grabs his junk and he pulls over to stop her. He tells her he wants her but he has a rash.
He tells her he needs another raincheck but when she gets back from the weekend trip they can sleep together.
His car dies and Nils has to pick them up.
She goes to the coffee shop to meet Paul and Maggie and breaks down. She doesn't want to talk about things and tries to deflect to Maggie. Maggie is acting weird and Nils comes.
Jane asks about Lars and Nils explains what happened. She comments on Lars's plans with Samara and Nils tells her Lars isn't interested in Samara. That Lars likes her and if you feel like someone belongs to you you can't let them go.
Something passed between Nils and Maggie and they leave. Paul and Jane are shocked. Paul explains the tension between them and Jane is thrilled they might be moving forward together.
Lars finally gets home and goes to the coffee shop to find Jane. He sees her with Paul and thinks they're into each other. He gets angry and leaves.
The next morning they bump into each other while walking. He kisses her and she responds. He pulls away and tells her she's confusing him. She gets angry and they argue about Paul and Samara.
At the shoot the assistant tells him Samara made her tell Jane about the kiss and that they were spending the weekend together.
Jane finds him later and asks if he's going with Samara. He tells her he isn't. She asks if he kissed Samara and he asks if she kissed Paul.
Samara plays Jane a recording of Lars telling her they'd spend the night together when she gets back from her weekend trip. Jane is devastated. She hoped they'd spend the weekend together.
Jane realizes Samara knew from the beginning that Jane liked Lars and pursued him anyway. She quits.
Lars sees her run from Samaras trailer and goes to Samara to find out what happened. Samara plays him the recording and he's furious.
She goes to the store and he finds her there. He apologizes and explains everything. He tells her about the kiss and that he lied to Samara to get her to leave a positive review with his dad about him. That Jane is the only one he ever wanted.
He begs her to spend the weekend with him so he can prove how much he wants her. She says yes.
He takes her home and invites her to spend the next day with his family for the baptismal of his nieces. She tells him what happened with Paul.
They end up in his room and he tells her he's falling in love with her. They sleep together.
He wants her to stay with him but he's scared to bring it up. He doesn't think she'll leave her city life behind for a small town and he knows he can't leave the park.
She wants to stay with him in the small town but thinks she's moving too fast. He asks about her future plans and she reasons with herself that he's just curious, not that he wants her to stay with him.
He talks about his nieces and asks if she wants kids. She says she does and asks how many they should have, thinking he'll get scared of the conversation. He tells her they'll have kids. That he'll build them a house. That they'll stay together. She thinks he's speaking hypothetically. He thinks she hates the idea.
They talk about his family and he calls her his girlfriend. She likes it. She tells him the future he envisioned was sweet but she's scared. He promises not to hurt her. She tells him she's falling for him too.
She meets his family and they love her. She wonders if she's being crazy by moving so fast with him.
That night she mentions going to Samaras to pack and he tells her she doesn't work for Samara anymore. They argue because he thinks she'll get sucked back in.
She tells him Samara is the only family she has and that he doesn't understand. He tells her she has him. That he wants to be with her. That he wants her to stay with him.
She says yes. That she wants to stay. He tells her he's worried she'll change her mind if she helps Samara anymore. That their relationship is too new to stand long distance. She assures him she's going to stay. That she wants to.
She gets ready for the baptism and her uncle calls. He guilts her into working with Samara. He tells her she needs to help find a replacement then she can quit. That it's the least she can do after everything he's done for her. And if she doesn't he'll never speak to her again. She knows it'll be at least 6 months before she can quit but she can't lose her uncle. She says yes.
Lars picks her up and knows something is wrong. He finally realizes she's distancing herself because she's not going to stay.
He offers to take her home instead of his house. She says no and tells him she loves him.
She tells him she's going back to Samara for a few months and he's upset. He tells her it'll kill their relationship. That her uncle is using her. She promises she'll come back to him.
She asks if he'll come visit her and he says no. That he won't support her decision when he knows it's not what she wants.
He tells her he can't take her to the airport. That it'll be too hard. She asks him to visit and he says no. She tries to assure him she's coming back. He doesn't believe her.
He takes her to Samaras house and leaves her there. Samara is home and has started dating her trainer. Jane is confused. Samara explains that the trainer is a dominant and she likes having someone else making all the decisions.
He asks his dad to take Jane to the airport and tells him he doesn't want the celebrity job. That Jane is leaving. His dad is understanding and tells him they'll work it all out. That he can be a more equal partner without running a separate branch.
He tells his dad he loves Jane. His dad tells him if he really loved her he wouldn't give her up so easily. That he would make things work however they had to.
His dad picks her up and she tells him she loves Lars. He understands and tells her she shouldn't live with regrets.
She decides to stay and asks him if he'd give her a ride back.
She tells Samara she understands how she felt like Jane stole her dad when they were kids. That she understands Samara's resentment. Samara explains nothing happened with Lars. That he only wanted Jane.
Jane tells her she quits even though her uncle will disown her. Samara tells her her dad wouldn't do that. That he's miss Jane too much. She calls her dad and tells her she's firing Jane.
She goes back to Lars's house to wait for him.
He gets home and decides he'll do whatever it takes to keep Jane in his life. He texts her that he'll visit often until she can come back to him. That he loves her. That he's sorry for being stubborn.
He finds her in his room. She tells him she's staying. They tell each other they love each other.

I was so excited when this book finally landed on my kindle. It’s the third book in Katy’s heart of Montana series and I was so happy to read more about the Lindstrom siblings. This time it was Lars’ turn. He is the gorgeous and sexy one who knows everything about Yellowstone park. What an awesome guy, so caring, romantic and real about his feelings - BOOK BOYFRIEND!!! I certainly fell for him ♥.
The title fits perfectly and describes what the story is about and also what love means: You can catch each other when you fall.
Jane is coming to Montana for a session of photo shoots of the world famous model Samara Amaya, who also happens to be her cousin Sara. She is her personal assistant and making sure everything is prepared for when Samara arrives.
The way Jane and Lars meet at the airport is so funny and adorable at the same time, especially when Lars thought she was a teenager with her cardigan and cap. Let’s say Jane is the total opposite of her cousin. She is cute, vulnerable, down o earth, has some curves, doesn’t use make-up and doesn’t own fancy and sexy clothes. Still, Lars is instantly drawn to her and especially her voice and green eyes.
Every single moment and scene between them was so special and unique and most importantly full of feelings and passion. They were falling for each other more and more after every second and their chemistry was amazing! The bonded on different levels and were able to talk about everything, even their past.
Jane however, thinks that this will all be over once Samara arrives. He’ll only have eyes for her then and forget all about Jane, like Ben did a year ago. Thinking about that she is distant to him again, but still can’t resist him, well at least they don’t go all the way. Jane tells him everything, but not even his words, that he’ll stay with help and she breaks things off. I didn’t like Jane at all at this stage of the story. Lars was really hurting and I didn’t want to see him sad. However, sometimes I was also a little mad at him for thinking certain things. Well, he's a guy, so...
When Samara arrives everything is turning upside down. Samara wants Lars and he seems to like her (at first), but he sees her real face soon. A lot of misunderstandings follow and Jane and Lars feel that they need each other, but it was hard with all the circumstances around them.
I didn’t like Samara at all, or should I say Sara. They way she treated everybody and especially Jane. I was just waiting for Jane to stand up to her and quit her job!!
The drama in this book was intense and Lars and Jane really had to fight for their love, but it was clear that they belong together, such an adorable couple. Jane has a big decision to make in the end and she’s really hurting Lars with it. The question is whether she’s sticking with it or change her mind. I won’t tell you, find out for yourself, it’s more than worth it!!!
The ending is amazing and so cute!
It was so lovely to meet all the other characters fro the first two books again: Jenny, Sam, Kat, Erik etc. They had their own story, but are still part of this one and we can read about how their life developed. We also get to know Paul, Maggie and Nils better, which was great and I can’t wait to read their stories. First up is Paul in summer 2014.
Katy’s writing is brilliant! She made it so easy for me to dive into the story and imagine all these beautiful scenes and the landscape as well. Both characters get their chance to narrate and tell us their story and give us an insight to their feelings and emotions. This is great and it made me understand both Jane and Lars better.
This novel is passionate, touching, vivid, glowing, fascinating and much more. I can’t tell you enough how much I loved it!!! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
See Jane Fall is the third full novel in Katy Regnery’s fabulous Heart of Montana series. Having read each of the preceding stories and loving both of them, it was a no brainer decision for me to move right into Lars and Jane’s story. I know I really need to get a new line for my reviews of Katy’s novels but how many ways can you say it? WOW!!! Katy, you’ve done it again. Every story elevates my heart to an even higher level than the prior one, and I never thought that was possible.
Jane Mays is a very sweet, down-to-earth young woman who has always felt invisible to men in the shadow of her gorgeous fashion model cousin. When she is sent ahead to Yellowstone to scout locations for a photo shoot, she meets Lars Lindstrom, the tour guide hired to help manage the process. Jane feels an immediate connection to Lars and discovers they share the same sense of humor as well as the same taste in music. As they spend more time together, she can feel the pull of her heart towards Lars. But having been hurt in the past by a man who ultimately pushes her aside, Jane feels she can never trust again nor take a chance on opening up her heart to the possibility of love.
Lars Lindstrom is a fun-loving, veritable free spirit in love with one thing: Yellowstone. Spending all of his time working for the family business running tours which permits him the time to do exactly what he wants to do: explore and learn everything there is to know about the park. He’s never been interested in any relationship that would last longer than one night. But when his family’s business is hired to manage a high fashion model’s photo shoot, he’s dreading the thought of being stuck as the tour guide for her “boring” assistant. That is until he meets Jane Mays. Lars finds her intriguing from the moment he meets her and senses the possibility of something more than a simple fling and feels she notices the connection with him as well. But can Jane strengthen her resolve and fight for Lars, standing up to her spoiled cousin who sees him merely as a handsome face and nothing more than a conquest to add to her long list of one night stands?
I love these wonderful characters created by Katy Regnery. The depth of the connection they feel with each other is so moving. Although Katy has written this story leaving the most intimate scenes to our imagination, you really don’t need the details. The magical connection and powerful pull of these two souls together as they laugh, enjoy similar likes and yes, the steamy “make out” scenes are enough to make your heart race as you hope for Lars and Jane to ultimately end up together. I must say, there were times I just wanted to scream at my Kindle wanting them both to open up to each other and say what they were thinking instead of assuming the worse and trying to guess what the other one was feeling.
As I sit here writing my review I endeavor to find the words to describe this entertaining and beautiful story of heartbreak, falling in love and learning to open up your soul to ultimately arrive at a place in which you can trust in someone, as I then realize I may have just done that. Katy Regnery is an author of such amazing talent and stories that pull at my heartstrings and yes I even get choked up with tears in my eyes reading a story of such a special love we all hope to find. I find myself wanting to read faster and faster to find out what’s going to happen while at the same time never wanting to reach the end. As I spend my time in Montana while I am reading these pages, I feel a sense of caring and friendship towards these wonderful characters feeling as though I have become a part of their family. I never thought it possible to love Katy’s stories any more that I already do, but after reading See Jane Fall, I do. I really, really do!!
Is it possible to fall even more in love with an author that you already adore? Yes, yes it is. With “See Jane Fall” it's totally possible. Regnery has a certain style that I just adhere to . If you gave me 3 books by different authors to read and didn't tell me which were hers...I'd be able to tell!
I simply loved this book and all of it's characters, well, except for Jane's cousin Sara, aka Samaya Amaya. /snickers.
It's the perfect book for anyone who feels trapped. Whether it be in a relationship, job, etc...this book gets the message out, that, it's never too late to get out of a situation you're not meant to be in. The main heroine Jane feels trapped in her job being her cousins – the beautiful model Samaya Amaya's – personal assistant. And boy is she a piece of work!!! UGH, Regnery does a fine job by making the reader hate her! She's so impossible, there's no way I'd be able to handle her, so kudos to Jane!
Since Jane lost her parents at such a young age, she was adopted by her uncle, which so happens to also be her fathers twin. Every time she looks at his face, it's her fathers eyes looking back at her, and that makes it impossible for Jane to refuse any request he asks of her; which is to work for her dreadful cousin.
While on a photo-shoot up in Yosemite National Park, Jane, her B**** cousin, and crew are to be lead around by the sexy Norwegian, Lars Lindstrom. Jane falls so hard for him! She arrives a few days early to get everything set up and in order before hurricane Samara Amaya arrives, and during that short of time, she and Lars develop an adorable relationship. The flirty banter that goes on between them is hysterical, I loved it and the nicknames that they came up with for each other!! They're a perfect fit from the get-go. The scene where Lars picks Jane up from the airport and at first glance, he thinks she's a young kid. That was BRILLIANT! Regnery writes her characters to be as normal as possible, which makes it really easy to relate to them. Sure, if they want to get dolled up with make-up and a fancy hair-do, they're beautiful, but the point is, is that they're beautiful either way. Made-up or natural, it's all the same. I really like that about this author. She writes REAL people for real people!
“I'll take you anywhere you want to go Jane,” Lars' thoughts of Jane.
Poor Janey thinks she's just too plain compared to her beautiful cousin, so she's got it in her head (since this has happened to her before) that whenever Samaya blows into town, Lars will immediately forget about her and pursue Samaya. Even after voicing this fear to Lars, he reassures Jane that he isn't “that guy”... Jane's poor heart wants to believe him, but since she's already been thru this, she's convinced that every guy is “that guy”.
And of course, as soon as Samaya gets a look at Lars, she makes it her number one priority to land him in her bed, despite the fact that Jane has strong feelings for him, because that's the kind of person she is. Not going to spoil this, but whenever Sara does that awful thing to an item that Jane cherishes, I would have killed her! That broke my heart!
I loved how some of the characters played the card game Euchre, that game's so much fun! I also loved it when Jane thought to herself, “Why did I waste time flying back to New York when my heart was beating in Montana?”
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to...everyone, it's that good. If you haven't read any of the other books in this series, you should, they're great! We have one more Lindstrom to read about, and I cannot wait!
Gosh. I will say this now and hopefully one day get to prove it…. The day I meet Katy Regnery, I will fan-girl my butt off!!!!! So far, I’ve read ALL of her books and LOVED each and every one! And See Jane Fall did NOT disappoint.
This book can technically be read as a standalone since it focuses on a new couple -- Lars and Jane, BUT I recommend you read them all in order. It will allow you to connect even more with the entire cast of characters, I think.
“I’m falling for you, Jane.”
Jane…sweet, good-hearted, down to earth, and vulnerable. Sometimes, my heart literally and physically ACHED for Jane and the situations she found herself in. However, there were other times where I wanted to shake her….or smack her. I wanted to tell her to WAKE UP and smell the roses because she was really missing out. Her cousin/boss, Samara, was downright mean and beyond selfish. I hated her. Ugh! She was used to getting things her way…every time. She didn’t care if she trampled Jane to be happy. All she cared about was her own selfish needs. And unfortunately, Jane never put up any kind of fight. She let Samara treat her like dirt. THAT pissed me off. I wanted to punch Samara and then smack Jane for allowing her cousin to mistreat her that way. However, I guess I understand why Jane put up with it. I mean, that was all the family she had left.
Samara had a photo shoot scheduled in Montana. Jane, being the best assistant EVER, traveled there a few days before Samara to get things ready for her. Let’s just say, Samara was VERY high maintenance.
Enter Lars.
Lars. Lars, Lars… LARS. My God, he is by far the yummiest Lindstrom! He was not only physically HOT and sexy, but humble, funny, and oh so dreamy! Seriously -- Lars Lindstrom, melting panties, one pair at a time. Gah!!! I fell in love with him right off the bat. Lars was in charge of getting things ready for “the talent” and her crew in Montana. He was basically the tour guide and the one that would take them to the huge park where the photo shoot would take place.
Jane and Lars were alike, which is why they quickly connected. They were both so real and simple. They weren’t high maintenance or even remotely close. They had a lot of similar interests and just….clicked. As simple as that. As the days passed and they spent more and more time together, they started to develop feelings for each other. Problem? Jane had already been burned once. She had fallen for someone during one of Samara’s shoots and as soon as he saw Samara, he forgot all about ‘Plain Jane’. Scared that her heart might get broken again, she pushed Lars away.
Things were not easy for Lars and Jane. Misunderstandings, miscommunication, and hurt feelings played a HUGE role in their story. Not to mention SAMARA. Boy did she screw things up for them!!!! Suffice it to say there was a lot of emotional angst throughout the plot – which I LOVE.
“Jane. All I ever wanted – from the beginning – was you.”
As usual, this was a great read. One that I highly recommend to all romance readers. It was sweet, moving, and written very well. There were even quite a few sexy scenes in there too! In all honesty, Katy Regnery managed to captivate me with yet another book! I can’t wait for the next installment in this series. Go read this book!
I’ve read some books by this author that I really enjoyed and then a few no so much. This is a not so much book, really, really not so much. Jane Mays is an assistant/cousin to supermodel Samara Amaya – a diva to end all diva’s and an all round nasty piece of business. Jane is the advance person to work on the logistics of Samara’s latest shoot and in that role meets Lars Lindstrom whose family runs and adventure kind of business. Sparks fly right off the bat between the two of them but Jane just knows that any attraction that Lars may feel for her will disappear the instant he meets Samara. It’s happened to Jane before so before their romance really gets going, she cools things down with Lars. So will he see past the outer beauty of Samara and realize that the real treasure is Jane? This is the basic outline. This book failed for me in so many ways. The first fail was the insta-love between Jane and Lars. Lars had been quite the player with previous young woman who used the services of Lindstrom & Sons, but when he and Jane share the love of the same music and the same kind of humor, well, he wants her to stay and give their relationship a chance to flourish. I don’t really like the insta-love when the hero jut expects the heroine to upend her life for him right off the bat. Lars most put out when Jane cools things. She explains why she’s doing it, she just knows he’ll dump her though he reassures her over and over that he won’t but Jane’s insecurities have had a lifetime to grow. This brings us to a REAL issue I had. Once Lars gets an eyeful of Samara and Samar comes off as very charming, Lars is ready to share the sheets since she’s the most beautiful thing he’s ever said as well as being ever so nice. I mean after all, Jane didn’t want to continue things. ‘She didn’t want to continue things for the exact reason you’re almost ready to act on you total dick head moron’ I couldn’t help thinking at this point. ‘Hero material you are not!’
Well, things get sorted out between them and Lars has Jane convinced to stay and see what happens. But then Jane’s uncle and Samara’s father calls and guilts Jane into staying with Samara and continuing to be her whipping girl. I’ve just skimmed over what a total beyotch Samara is and when a spineless whimp Jane is to have taken all the abuse Samara has heaped on her over the years. So when Jane finally, finally decides to take a life direction for herself, she crumples like wet kleenix. I was less than impressed with her ‘heroine’ characteristics.
Overall I didn’t care for either Lars or Jane. I found him bland and dithering and her a wuss. And as if these aren’t reasons enough for the low grade this one is going to get, there were a number of misunderstandings which drove me bonkers. I think this is one of the author’s earlier works so I’m very glad she’s improved since this one. Sad to say I can’t recommend it.
So, remember last time I reviewed a Katy Regnery book and I told you that it was my favorite so far, just as I said in the review before that one? Yeah well, THIS ONE is definitely my favorite so far. Once again Katy had me falling in love with her characters and their surroundings. Just like in her other books you'll swoon and smile at the sweetness that pours from her characters, Lars and Jane. Only this time she's added a villain to the mix and what a horrible, horrible villain Sarah (AKA Samara) is. This wasn't a 'I love to hate her' type of villain, Sarah is the nastiest kind of villain there is and although somewhere deep down I'm supposed to feel sorry for her, I don't. Also knew for me in this story line was the fact that for a brief period I was so angry with the male protag, Lars, that I almost wondered if he would be redeemable in my eyes. I get it, his thought process was exactly what pretty much any man in his shoes would have been as well. The fact that he let his eyes control his *ahem* brain and the reaction that he had to Sarah after everything that Jane confessed to him prior to his arrival was almost sickening. I am still struggling with that part of the story. I just wanted to reach in the book and shake him, tell him to snap out of it and pay closer attention to what was really going on. Even though I know that part of the reason he let his initial reaction blind him to what was really going on was because he felt like Jane had rejected him and didn't want to give 'them' a chance. My heart broke for Jane and the things she had been through and the way that her cousin treated her out of spite because of something that was beyond Jane's control. I wish she had been more confident in herself and tried harder to hold onto Lars right from the beginning. I can't lie and say that a part of me doesn't wish that she had smacked the crap out of Sarah after some of the things she said, and did, to her. Thankfully, Lars opened up his eyes and started to see Sarah for who/what she really was, but instead of just talking to Jane, he tried to fix the situation himself which in turn caused a pretty big misunderstanding. He did redeem himself when he finally stepped up to go after Jane and to try to help her be strong and stand up to Sarah and her uncle once and for all. Watching Jane finally think of herself first was the best part of the book. Once again, Katy wrote with just enough steam to show just how much Lars and Jane clicked, behind closed doors, but not so much that I was left blushing and/or trying to hide while reading the book. I love this part of the Heart of Montana series. I can only imagine that it will keep getting better and that I'll be back with another review of what will probably be my new favorite book of hers. Haha!
*I received an ARC from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Katy, Katy, Katy, what can I say? You've done it again! Just when I thought Midsummer Sweetheart was my favorite, you went ahead and wrote See Jane Fall, and I've fallen in love in a big way all over again. Of course, each book in this series can be read as a standalone, but I can guarantee that if you like one, you will want to read them all.
See Jane Fall is the beautiful love story of Lars Lindstrom, the hunky tour guide, and Jane Mays, the plain cousin of a supermodel. I use the term "beautiful" because, despite Jane's "plain" perception of herself and her job status, the budding relationship between Lars and Jane and all the handlings of friendship, misperceptions, jealousy, family, and future is beautifully interwoven, gaining us an amazing, exciting story, that kept my attention throughout, and made me completely fall in love with this sweet couple.
The character development is quite exceptional, looking at each and every angle of not only Lars and Jane, but a few significant others as well. This was one of those unique instances when I felt like a book left no stone unturned as far as delving into the depths of its main characters, and I loved it. I was immediately drawn into this story and connected quickly with Lars and Jane, both of whom had their own personal crossroads they were facing, and I couldn't wait to find out more about them. I found myself loving Lars and Jane, then wanting to shake them. But then when I would get to the point of full on annoyance, Katy would take the story in a new direction, opening up my view of the story and the characters, and gripping me right back into their lives. And I was fully immerged in their lives until the very last word, loving it and not wanting to leave.
I highly recommend See Jane Fall, and the entire Heart of Montana series, for anyone who is a romantic at heart, who loves to not only watch beautiful love stories grow, but see characters bloom and develop in rich detail. And along with the individual love story, if you follow along in the series, you'll see bits and pieces of the previous and future loves as well, along with a beautiful family you'll want to spent a long weekend with, or perhaps an extended vacation. I'm eagerly looking forward to next Lindstrom's story, and anything Katy Regnery writes.
If you enjoy “ugly duckling” stories and family sagas, this is a book (and series) for you. Jane thinks she’s plain, as her name suggests, having grown up in the shadow of her supermodel cousin Sara — known to the world as Samara Amaya. Under family pressure to keep her job as Samara’s assistant despite truly unpleasant working conditions, she’s overdue for a bit of love and happiness. Unfortunately, past experience has proven that every nice thing Jane has gets taken away, and she has no reason to hope it’ll be different this time. So when she meets tour guide Lars Lindstrom during the preparation for supermodel Samara’s fashion shoot in Yellowstone National Park, Jane knows she won’t have a chance once Samara rolls in. Lars says he’s “not that guy” but Jane can’t trust his words, can she?
See Jane Fall is a truly enjoyable book, smoothly written, entertaining, with a nice balance of fun and heat and emotion. I like Jane and her inner turmoil and issues feel real. As for Lars, his choices at certain stages of the book might annoy or infuriate some readers, but I think he comes across as authentic and fully developed, and he certainly redeems himself in full by the end. There’s a bit of red herring jealousy involved, but it’s handled naturally enough that it didn’t really bother me. I adore the way he calls her Minx, and their unfolding relationship is as full and sweet as anything I’ve read in a while.
The message? Family relationships are complicated but everyone has a breaking point beyond which no amount of blood ties and obligation will hold.
Favourite quote? “And yet without his permission or blessing hers was the face the earth had turned to him, to whom he felt bundled and bound, as surely as he did to Yeller, as surely as he was a Lindstrom, and he didn’t know what to do if he couldn’t have her — if she wouldn’t, or couldn’t, belong to him.”
How I found this book? I know the author through Facebook and was invited to be part of the blog tour — Book Plug Promotions gave me a PDF review copy, but I ended up buying it for my Kindle anyway.
4 stars • a definite keeper, highly recommended, totally gripping and very well done
his is my forth (full length) Katy Regnery novel and it is my absolute favourite by a mile. The other's I thought were beautiful. See Jane Fall is absolutely stunning.
Jane is so likeable. Lars so so lickable. Together they take you on a rollercoaster of emotion.
In the beginning I simply enjoyed the banter. I loved the getting to know you butterflies. I swooned everytime Lars called Jane "minx"... I felt so bad for how badly Samara had damaged Jane. It broke my heart and it made me angry that such an awesome woman felt she couldn't compete with her shrew of a cousin simply because the cousin is beautiful. Then Jane made me mad because she basically just lies down so that Samara can walk all over her. She steps aside. Gives up the fight without throwing a punch and walks away from something so gorgeous. I got angry. How dare she treat Lars like he's the same as every other guy? Cause by this point I'd already fallen in love with Lars and I knew he wasn't the same as every other guy, so why couldn't she see it? Then I met Samara and wanted to stick pins in her eyes cause that woman is satan. Then I wanted to kick Lars in the nuts cause, seriously?! Dude, just... Seriously!?! I went from being mad at Jane to FURIOUS with Lars. My stomach was in knots, I was feeling kinda sick and I just wanted to cry... Then I developed the urge to smack Lars and Jane's heads together. Then I started flapping around like a demented seal cause... yeay! Go Jane! Then I wanted to scream, and cry, and get violent again, then I was back to looking like a happy clappy seal.
Like I said it is a total rollercoaster and it is awesome watching how the characters grow (even Samara).
I found this one to be a bit sexier than then other Heart of Montana books while still leaving everything to the imagination and it's still really sweet (which to me has become Katy's trademark). If you've read the other books in the series you get to check in with the Lindstrom gang and it nicely sets up the next books in the series. Read it!!!
