But Hazel Hollis never agreed to see him, not really

Hazel loves a good comeback story, especially one that has a happy ending—even if she’s still trying to find her own—so she reluctantly agrees to treat the grizzly jerk
Knox Riley is the most unbearable bear Hazel has ever met but that doesn’t stop her from falling in love with him, and now she needs to decide who’s happy ending is more important; his or hers
From loose-cannon vampires and smoking hot rockstars, to vengeful alphas and mysterious monsters, A. K. Graves makes it a goal to bring you the kind of love you want to ki... well, you'll have to find her tagline on her socials to get the rest of that because it's too much for this bio. A. K. is what happens when grumpy/sunshine is crammed into one human; you get a feral hermit who likes reading, surrealism, masked musicians, true crime, and maybe five people. She hails from Michigan, has been married to Mr. Graves for over fifteen years, and is mama to three beautiful, intelligent, creative Graves girls who make her proud every day. A. K. loves writing, it keeps her less grumpy and as sunshine as she can be, and as long as she can keep coming up with ways to combine her love of romance with the dark and morbid, she’ll be happy doing it forever. Come meet Hazel - she is 35 but definitely doesn't look like it. She sweet, innocent, driven, and in love with someone she has been talking to on an app for the last five years. They have never met and keep everything surface level but the connection is strong.
Meet Knox a two time MMA champion who wanted to retire on top. However, he was badly injured and lost the title. Now he's out to take it back. However, he needs to get his shoulder to a better place before he can win. Unfortunately he is a growly alphahole who doesn't want to do things properly.
When Knox tricks him into going to Hazel's practice he comes in and tears her down. He thinks she is scamming the older generation she is focused on. In reality she offers more services than anyone else and keeps her prices dangerously low. All she wants to do is help people.
When these two are forced together to get him into fighting shape they find out a lot more about themselves and each other.
Gotta love a gruff growly alphahole who is only sweet for her and her cats. I really loved the way their story evolved.
This was such a good book 😭😭😭. I absolutely loved Hazel and Knox. Them not having the best first meet didn't stop them from falling for one another. These two had so much chemistry and such a deep connection that it was so easy to fall for them.
Them being online best friends and giving each other the support they needed for years was just the icing on the cake. While texting it was obvious how much they liked each other. That like and chemistry transferred very easily from online to real life the minute they started spending time together.
They both struggled with a couple of things. But the best thing about them was that they were there for each other. They helped each other realize that they are perfect the way they are. That it's OK to need help and ur insecurities don't/shouldn't define you and control ur life.
Idk if it's the author, the writing or the characters but this is the second book of this family that I became absolutely obsessed with. Definitely going into my top read list .
This was an amazing second book to the Riley siblings. Hazel is so adorably innocent, clumsy, extremely kind. Knox is broody, closed off, but also understandably anxious. When these two came together is was rough but with hidden secrets between them that they don’t even realize yet they eventually come together and it is magical and filled with joy, caution, love even. Knox is honestly a favorite so far he’s misunderstood but once you understand him it all comes together. I loved everything about this second book and couldn’t get enough
Absolutely loved Hazel and Knox! This was a sweet 'secret penpals' meet in real life type situation and I loved that both of them had feelings for each other (in person & via texting). And the cat babies? So cute!
Some of these scenes had me literally cackling in delight. This was light-hearted and fun to read, with just the perfect dash of angst and drama. Very much enjoyed!
Dr Hazel Hollis is a physiotherapist who has been struggling. She wants to help people, she is mourning the loss of her Nona and has adopted some cats to help herself manage her stress. She also has been messaging a gruff person on an app for people experiencing grief over the loss of loved ones. She's been messaging Fight4It82 for 5 years and has slowly fallen in love with them. They don't exchange any identifying information, but talk and message and support one another.
Knox Riley is an injured MMA fighter who is tricked by his meddling mother into seeing Hazel for physiotherapy to help his shoulder heal from a devastating injury. Knox is broody and kind of a grouch, he's been ignoring advice from his team of doctors who are trying to get him recovered enough for a do-over fight for the belt. One that he lost last time from his injury. Hazel is a ray of sunshine, she isn't a pushover though, so she doesn't take Knox's attitude and dismisses him as a patient. Knox sees the error in his ways and becomes a model patient until he becomes more to Hazel. After learning more about Hazel, Knox sees she is the real deal and he fights for her love, even with his being so damaged by life and his grief (do we see where these two have met before maybe?). Hazel also fights for them and the result is a relationship filled with best friends becoming lovers. There's some angsty moments along the way, we don't always communicate the best, but as Knox recovers from his injury, he heals a bit mentally too.
This is book two in the Riley Sibling series and they're all fantastic short reads. I cannot recommend them enough because they are all lovely and I liked meeting and seeing all the siblings progress as we go through the series.
I received an advance copy of this book in return for my honest review.
Left Hooks and Lightning is the second book in the Riley Siblings series, and I think I may have enjoyed it more than the first. Like the first book, this one was a fairly short, quick read. Similar to the first book, this one involved two people who were talking without knowing exactly who the other was. Eventually these two meet in real life, not knowing that the other is their internet friend. One of the reasons I enjoyed this book more was because of the MCs. I loved how they both appeared so different, yet they were so perfect together. I also loved Mama Riley playing matchmaker. She was so freaking cute.
Hazel had such a difficult childhood, but at 35 was running her own business, had more education than most people ever have, and was one of the sweetest people you will ever meet, undercharging her clients, who were mostly elderly people, because she just wanted to help. She is tiny but mighty and I love her rescue cats and how she impulsed bought the second one. I loved when she first met Knox and refused to let him push her around.
Knox is my favorite kind of MMC. Grumpy, athletic, lots of muscles, and tattoos. Any athlete that suffers from an injury that threatens to end their career is going to be a little grumpy. He has had his share of trauma, meeting his sunshine in a group for people suffering from grief. What I really loved about Knox is that he very quickly realized how crappy he was towards Hazel and quickly attempts to mend things between them.
This was another great, quick story in this series. There was some good spice, even if it took a little bit to get there. This was a great book to read if you want an easy romance, with minimal angst, and two great MCs that seem to be opposites but have such amazing chemistry together.
A innocent, sunshiny, physical therapist with cats falls in love with a grouchy, keeps his cards close to his chest, MMA fighter who only has eyes for her… I mean how could you not love this book! I absolutely fell in love with Hazel from page one, I mean the hilarity that was the moment with her first patient had me cracking up! It wasn’t just the funny, witty banter though it was how caring Hazel was. How she was looking out for her patients over money, always making sure they were taken care of. How she was willing to give second chances even if grouchy MMA fighters accuse her of being a scammer. And my favorite characteristic of all was her willingness to fight for her true love. And of course Knox may just be my favorite of the Riley siblings. A grouchy MMA fighter who has been through more than a few cheap shots thrown by life. A grouch who is loving to only a select few such as his mother and his siblings… and a feisty little ray of sunshine who wiggled her way right into his heart. Knox was just an amazing book boyfriend, caring without judgement, and even though he had a bit of a habit of sticking his foot in his mouth he was always willing to see where he went wrong and fight for a way to make things right! And together their chemistry was off the charts and not just the spice, but their banter, their care for one another, it all made for such an amazing read! So if you’re looking for a short read with amazing characters, hilarious banter, just the right amount of spice, cuddly fur babies, and a smidge of drama to keep things interesting than Left Hooks & Lightning is the book for you!
Book 2 in the Riley Siblings series, I finished book one yesterday and book 2 today! First, FYI, I'm lucky enough to be on A.K.'s crew so I got an advanced review copy. I gave this book 5 stars because there wasn't an option for 6. I figured there was no way the 2nd book could be as good as the first one, boy was I wrong! The story continues with another Riley brother, Knox. Knox is a MMA fighter who is close to retirement. He lost his last fight, and his belt, to some jerk and he wants to fight one last time to go out on top. A wicked shoulder injury during the last fight and his inability to not punish his body by training has made it iffy on if he will even be able to fight, let alone win. His awesome Mom forces him to go to a Dr. that she sees who is a specialist in all kind of different therapies. Hazel is an insecure, double doctorate, sweet as pie woman and it's everything BUT love at first sight for the two of them. Turns out, they already know each other after 5 years of being online friends, who won't admit to each other that their feelings are stronger than friendship. If you read my reviews, you know I don't do spoilers, so I'll just say that this book is quick! I couldn't put it down because every single chapter was awesome! Knox is a dumb arse, like most men, and does a great job of sabotaging their potentially HEA, but in the end.... Well I just said I don't do spoilers, so just go read the book! OMG being an ARC reader is so awesome, I'm off to read the third book now!
If A.K. Graves had any doubts about her ability to deliver a captivating romantic fantasy, Left Hooks & Lightning settles the score with a thunderous applause. Book two of the Riley Siblings series is a masterclass in weaving whimsy, wit, and just the right amount of electric tension into a tale that leaves you grinning like a fool on a sunshine-soaked afternoon.
Knox Riley, the ultimate grumpy hunk, and Hazel Hollis, a clumsy, sassy innocent with a penchant for trouble, are more than characters on a page—they’re living, breathing enigmas. Graves doesn’t just write them; she conjures them into existence, plopping them down beside you, so vividly alive you half-expect Hazel to spill her coffee in your lap while Knox glares his disapproval from across the room.
What makes Left Hooks & Lightning truly shine is Graves’s unapologetic embrace of romance stereotypes. Instead of stumbling over clichés, she flips them into delightful assets, crafting a story so sweet and engaging you’ll wonder if she’s secretly bottling magic. The romance is swoon-worthy, the humor perfectly timed, and the emotional beats hit harder than Knox’s proverbial left hook.
With one book left in the Riley Siblings series, Graves has set the bar high. If the final chapter can deliver half the charm of Left Hooks & Lightning, it’s destined to be another knockout. Until then, savor this tale for what it is: a sparkling gem of romance and fantasy that’ll have you eagerly awaiting the next round.
This book offers everything you could want in a romance heartfelt, funny, and so much swoon! The story centers around Knox, a broody, grumpy bear of a man with muscles for days, and Hazel, an adorable yet fiery woman who's quirky, witty, and absolutely brilliant. I adored Hazel’s character; she’s sweet but fierce, making her a joy to read. Knox might seem hardheaded at first, but as the story unfolds, you realize there’s so much more to him than meets the eye.
One of the most touching aspects of this book is how Knox and Hazel initially connect. For five years not knowing each others true identity, they’ve been messaging each other, bonding over the shared experience of losing a loved one. Despite the physical distance, they were each other’s ray of sunshine, a comfort that pulled them through their grief. When they finally meet face-to-face, the chemistry between them is undeniable, almost electric, and seeing them come together after years of support is incredibly rewarding.
Although I don't typically go for contemporary romance, this story really pulls you in and makes you feel everything alongside the characters. It’s the kind of book that brings out the best emotions and leaves you with a smile.
WOW! Hazel and Knox’s whirlwind love story was quite the emotional rollercoaster ride from beginning to end.
Hazel is a sweet, innocent, smart, and very driven woman. She has devoted her life to helping others feel their best. When a client wants her to help her son in his healing process, Hazel has no idea how one growly, grumpy man is going to turn her world upside down.
Knox is a MMA champion that has been severely injured and wants to retire on top. But in order to compete he’s going to need help. Little does he realize one small sprite of a woman is going to put him in his place and soften his heart slowly to the possibility of finding his perfect other half and finally love.
Hazel and Knox’s relationship does not get off on the right track at the beginning but when they both let their guards down, things begin to change for the better.
I absolutely loved these two together. They are such a fierce couple when they can finally figure themselves out.
I loved their banter, and their shared love of cats. They had me giggling and swooning over how incredible they were together.
Such an amazing story with angst, heartache passion and love. And with an amazing ending that left my heart soaring.
The second Riley is about to meet his fate! Hazel has doctorates and licenses in many things associated with her business. She is innocent, a klutz, is tiny and adorable, and can make people laugh. There is nothing fake about her. When one of her clients ask she try and help her son recover from an injury to help him win his last bout, she agrees.
Little did she know, she already knew him, and him her. At the first meeting, he was not very nice. He is deeply attracted to her and her ways. It takes some finagling on his part to get to her agree to take him back on. What proceeds after is a hilarious adventure that will leave you in stitches. These two are meant for one another. Only, Knox does not think he deserves her.
When they have a couple fights, he thinks the worst will happen. Their relationship is definitely not a conventional one. He needs her like he breathes to live. She needs him the same way. Misunderstandings occur, along with a couple serious fights. When he is facing off with his biggest competitor, will she be there for him? In his corner? Will they have a HEA?
Hazel is just trying to keep her practice together. It’s in a building that she purchased with what her Nona left her when she passed away. It’s not much, but it’s hers. All she wants to help people recover and heal. Her only source of company or friendship is her rescue cat, Boris, and her online friend that she met in a grief group chat. She would love to meet him in person, but they have both purposely left personal things out. Will her practice ever recover or grow? Will she ever meet her online friend? Will she ever meet a man that’s willing to date her and look past her flaws?
This was such a cute story. I loved this addition to the Riley Sibling series. Hazel is a thirty year old established career woman and l love that about her. She has this really big heart and wants to rescue all of the furry babies. It makes me love her more for it. This series has been so fun and I can’t wait to hop into the next book.
Again -- I want to rate 10 stars rather than just the 5!! Knox was definitely a character that had to win me over. He had me moody more often than not, while Hazel was a total sweetie. I absolutely love how TECHNICALLY, they've already met. They just didn't realize it. Which is rather easy when you consider the online world. It sucks that they were originally brought together by losing someone near and dear to their heart, but seeing their paths OFFICIALLY cross...and seeing how they figure each other out & who they really are...that was a wild ride. Man, I couldn't get enough of it!! AK had me reacting out loud again this time, though I'll admit I was ready to throw something because Knox had me utterly frustrated, LOL. But when he wins you over...he really wins you over! I was hooked from start to finish and I plan on getting the whole trilogy at this point, just because I love them so much!! FANTASTIC job with this book, AK!!
This is the second book in The Riley Siblings series, and it is even better than the first book! These Riley men are so hot in their own special way! I have a new book boyfriend to add to my list. This story is so in tune with what’s happening in the world today. People are struggling and trying to find ways to deal with panic attacks, social anxiety and many other issues. Hazel is such a sweet and open-hearted FMC. She can also be a little sassy at times, as well. Knox is a leave me alone grumpy MMC. I love his possessive, touch her and die vibes! Their chemistry is amazing and sometimes heartbreaking. I cried a bit when reading this story. Thank you, A.K. Graves for another amazing Riley book! I cannot wait to see what you have in store for the last book in this series. I love the stories that you continue to gift us with! I can never get enough of reading your books!
Left Hooks & Lightning is the second book for the Riley siblings. Here we get Knox he is the grumpy grouch we all know and can't help but love. Hazel is a ray of bubbly sunshine. Just take it from her nickname, Sunny. I laughed and cried while reading this sweet story. My heart broke for Hazel and Knox both of them thinking the worst. I’m so glad they found each other and how beautiful this was written for them. This series is so sweet. This was another great, quick story in this series. There was some good spice, even if it took a little bit to get there. This was a great book to read if you want an easy romance, with minimal angst, and two great MCs that seem to be opposites but have such amazing chemistry together.

Left Hooks & Lightning is the second book for the Riley siblings. Here we get Knox he is the grumpy grouch we all know and can't help but love. Hazel is a ray of bubbly sunshine. Just take it from her nickname, Sunny.
Sunny and Hazel are both dealing with grief and pian. This is what brings them together, but can they make work? They already know each other, but they never actually met, so when that does happen, omg, this story goes on a wild ride.
This is a quick read, showing you what happens when you have someone else to help you with grief. I absolutely loved it and can't wait for the final Riley sibling.
This has got to be one of my favorite contemporary romance books of all time. I'd rate this book more than 5 stars if I could. I absolutely love Knox and Hazel and the whole grumpy/ sunshine thing they have going on. I love grumpy bears that turn soft for their woman. I also love the whole crazy cat lady thing that Hazel has going on! I can relate to her so much since I myself am a crazy cat lady that loves to rescue them. These two are adorable and they made me laugh and my heart melt, which I really needed in life since I've had a rough couple weeks.
This second book in the trilogy is such an amazing read full of a grumpy MMC, a bubbly sweet FMC, some sadness, fun banter, and slow burn romance. Sunny/Hazel is intent on caring for her patients and keeps prices low to make it affordable. Then Knox, who is fighting to regain his MMA title is hurt and comes to Sunny for therapy. But they have actually met before, online in an app, they have talked for years. The plot is quirky and fun, easy to read and overall a sweet cozy romance. Perfect for this time of year.
This is the second book in the series and I loved it! I am so glad I got the chance to read this beauty! This one is probably my favorite out of the three. I absolutely love grumpy sunshine romance and this had it!
The MMC Knox is the grump but such a lovable character. And Hazel is our sunshine full of love to give and bubbly. These two together make me smile and I love the romance between them even if everything going on.
Overall, this quick read was adorable. If you’re looking for a short story with grumpy sunshine characters then I recommend this book for you! It was so good!
OMG this was a thriller and romance. It was a page turner and the suspense was intense. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. Knox is a bear with a hot sexual chemistry between Hazel and it was sweet and passion of madness and drama with her healing power that might help to heal people. Could she tamed the beast in this moment of light and dark. Hazel was a good person but she falling for the beast. I highly recommend this book and you won't be disappointed. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest review. Trina Jones
Book 2 follows Knox Riley, a surly, intimidating man who’s recovering from a near career-ending injury. He’s sent to Happy Body, Happy Soul for treatment, though he’d rather be left alone. Enter Hazel Hollis, a kind-hearted caregiver who reluctantly agrees to take him on despite his gruff demeanor. Hazel finds herself drawn to Knox as she helps him heal, but soon she must decide whether to follow her own path or continue supporting his recovery, even as she starts falling for him.
A beautiful love story! Not usually a fan of contemporary romance but I am a huge fan of A. K. Graves, so I picked up the Riley Siblings trilogy and I am so glad I did. This is book two, a standalone but with crossover with the other siblings’ stories. Knox and Hazel are adorable together. I loved reading their journey. Even if this is a quick read, the characters are phenomenal and the story grabs at your heartstrings! Loved it!
Quick read only like 15 chapters but the story is not lacking at all ! I am finding this series of books to be low angst feel good books which for me is a good mood booster. The Riley men are proving to be swoon worthy hot hunks. This story we meet Knox and Hazel, both broken in different but similar ways. Knox is so gruff but sweet and Hazel is fragile but strong. The next story in this series is about the little sister and I can’t wait to start
The second book in the Riley Siblings series follows Knox and Hazel's their unlikely relationship developers after Knox is reluctantly persuaded by his mum to seek Hazel's help.
This story is simply adorable, a proper grumpy/sunshine opposites attract vibe.
Watching the pair of them grow and come together us a delight.
What wonderful personalities in this book. This book is also emotional, because of their past they meet each other online and Knox and Hazel share their sadness and slowly get to know each other. They are both convinced that they do not deserve true love, each with their own reasons. I'm very curious to see how everything will come together in the third book of this series.
Now i love a good Grumpy-Sunshine sunshine, and this sure fits the bill. Knox... oh, that loveable grouch. He was kind of a 🍆, not even kind of, but Hazel was steadfast in who she was, and it most definitely washed away all..eh..most...eh... some of that grumpiness. I am not really a pet person, but I'm definitely NOT a cat person, but this book had me reconsidering that, just a little bit 🤣.
Sweet Baby Goats!! This book was SO good! Hazel is a pint size force of nature who totally earns her nickname of “Sunny” and I love Knox! He is such a growley, grumpy man and I love how absolutely perfect he and Hazel are for each other. This story is full of fun, laughs, a bit of heartache. This book is a refreshing read!
Book two of the Riley Siblings series did not disappoint!! I love Knox and Hazel. I enjoyed how they both realized they knew the other online. Hazel felt like a realistic female, accident prone, messy and not perfect. Grumpy bear Knox didn't stand a chance against Sunny! This book did have me crying, but it was still so good!
