Operation Kane

Rate this book
Elia will do anything to get her best friend's older brother to notice she's a woman now, even become a spy.

Elia can't hide her five-year crush for her best friend's older brother, Kane, anymore. She's two months shy of being legally dateable, and she intends to make good use of that time to finally attract Kane's attention.

An opportunity arises when she finds herself in trouble with Elemental Extremists, a dangerous group intent on harming her best friend, Vela. Kane discovers this danger and offers to go under cover with Elia to protect her and his sister.

Elia wants to prove to Kane she's more than a 17-year-old, she's a young woman. The problem is Kane will always think of her as too young, even though he's only twenty.

Using her savvy computer skills and makeup tips, she transforms herself into a competent spy to prove to him how wrong he is.

Despite the makeup, she's older than she looks, and she'll do anything to prove it.

Dive into this world of Elementals, unrequited love, and the power of hope. Enjoy the best friend's older brother, forbidden love, fake dating, and friends-to-lovers tropes in this powerful story of faith and young love.

*sighs happily*

This book was so cute! I love it!! Especially Kane! 🤭

Operation Kane is technically set after the events of the first two books in this series (or possibly during the events of the second book, I'm not really sure which), but although I haven't read the first books, I was able to follow along with what had happened previously by what was mentioned in this one fairly well. So, it's not really a deal-breaker, yet there are characters and definitely mentions of things that happened in the other books that meant it'd probably be better if you read the series in order, yet you really don't have to read the other two first.

I loved the romance so, so much! It kept me smiling and made me so happy! 😁

Overall, I love this book! If it wasn't for the fact that I had to pause my reading a few times to go do other things, I absolutely would have read this all in one sitting!

Operation Kane takes place during the same time as Torch, but is told by Vela's best friend Elia. Best read after reading Terra and Torch, Operation Kane will assuage your curiosity about some of the likable characters introduced in Terra but left at home during Torch. A fun read full of intrigue, hope, and the emotions of growing up.

I am not ashamed to admit that I devoured this novella within a couple hours. I could not put it down!

Things went from giddy and cute to dangerous very quickly and I was here for it through every single moment.

My heart broke for Elia as she tried her best to win over Kane, to show him that she wasn’t just his younger sister’s best friend and that she could mean way more to him. Kane’s protectiveness over Elia was so endearing to watch, and seeing his own internal struggle with regard to his feelings for Elia gave me hope that Elia would find her happily ever after by the end.

This novella reminded even more of why I fell in love with Terra and Torch’s stories and characters, and I definitely hope (and pray) to read about Kane and Elia again in future stories!!!

I cannot wait to book 3 of an elemental series!

This novella was everything I needed (although I totally want more) from Elia and Kane! Sofia Simpson hinted at the connection between these two characters in Terra and Torch but never went into detail. The two of them find themselves infiltrating the Extremist to thwart their mission of finding Vela and Linc all while pretending to be a couple to stay close while working the case. This book here gives us more insight into the relationship, or lack there of, between them due to age restriction. Elia is a 17yr old (turning 18 in 2 months) and Kane just turned 20 recently. Elia has been in love with Kane for years but Kane (secretly also in love with her) never acted on anything because he was older. Sofia did a great job of showing how even if you might love someone you have more respect for them not to push the boundaries when age restrictions are very much in the way. Now I need more of Elia and Kane because this was just perfect!
