She’s the quiet, small town girl who gets along with everyone. Except him.
He’s the new guy in town who’s determined to turn her world upside down.
All Chloe Donovan ever wanted was to teach kindergarten and live a simple life in Sweetbriar Ridge. Until she decides she wants more in her life. Like maybe a good man to share her quiet life. But when she meets Tanner Westyn, Sweetbriar Ridge’s biggest ego-maniac and newest kindergarten teacher, she can’t help but feel unsettled with all the new changes happening around her town. Especially the unexpected feelings Tanner sparks in her.
A former champion Alpine skier, Tanner loves competing in all aspects of his life. But with his skiing career behind him, he’s ready to tackle the next phase of his life—teaching. When he lands in Sweetbriar Ridge, a town with a brand-new ski resort, he looks forward to quiet days on the slopes. The one thing he didn’t anticipate is how much his competitive nature would rub his new neighbors and colleagues—especially Chloe—the wrong way. What started as a schoolroom challenge with Chloe quickly snowballed into something else outside the school walls.
Everything about Tanner annoyed, frustrated, and intrigued Chloe. But when their heated banter evolves into looks of longing and a connection that can’t be denied, she starts to question if they could even have a future together. But if Tanner doesn’t want to lose Chloe, he will have to accept that coming in second place means more when the person you love takes the win.

Chloe & Tanner Tanner lives in NY and is a retired pro skier turned teacher. He wants to teach 5th grade, but when a job opportunity comes up for kindergarten in Sweetbriar, Virginia he decides to get his foot in the door and some experience under his belt since this would be his first teaching job.
Chloe is kindergarten teacher of the year for 2 years running. Will this handsome stranger give her some competition, or will she hold the title once again?
If you've read the other books you know there's always a little bit of family drama, but it wasn't as bad in this one, so woo hoo for that.
Both characters are sweet and I felt their attraction towardseach other. I liked the business adventure they're embarking on together. The 3rd act breakup was awfully childish, but it was still an enjoyable read overall.
Series notes: This series follows siblings, so I suggest reading them in order so that you can familiarize yourself with the family and know who's who and what's what.
Narration notes: Carly narrates all of Samantha's books, so I'm used to her lovely narration (even though I'd like a male narrator).
Audiobook/e-book this is the Donovan suite briar Ridge number three by Samantha Chase this story is about Chloe and Tanner. Chloe is a kindergarten teacher and then she meets her coworker. Tanner X athlete is high in the chemistry slowly comes. I love the story the push and pull the tension the banter, and then I loved that Carly Robbins narrated POV’s and I thought the audiobook was fantastic
5 Star Review of Wanting You (The Donovans: Sweetbriar Ridge #3) by Samantha Chase
Audio/eBook: This is Chloe Donovan and ex skier Tanner Westyn’s story and it was a good addition to the series.
Chloe is a kindergarten teacher and when she meets her fellow teacher Tanner, the sparks fly and not necessarily how you expect.
To her Tanner is an ex professional athlete with a monstrous ego. Could there be more to him than meets the eye? I enjoyed the push and pull dynamic as their relationship moved from enemies to lovers. Although Chloe irritated me on a number of occasions.
Carly Robbins narrates Wanting You and did a good job. However, I would love it a man narrated the male characters. She brought the angst, romance, drama and passion to the characters and did justice to the story that Ms. Chase wove.
Samantha Chase has done it again! I absolutely loved Wanting You, the third book in her The Donovans: Sweetbriar Ridge series! I can honestly say that Wanting You is an incredible love story, which filled me with a rollercoaster of emotions, and it was impossible to put it down. I loved every moment on every page. Samantha Chase continues to deliver the incredibly written love stories that I LOVE to read. I love a enemies to lovers love story, the Sweetbriar Ridge setting, and the amazing characters, they feel like family! Samantha Chase does not disappoint her readers with all the feels in Wanting You and has once again delivered an amazing story filled with everything that I have come to love about and expect from her books. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong, passionate females, big loving families, and caring friends, who always support each other? Wanting You is a enemies to lovers love story between Tanner Westyn, former Alpine championship skier, who recently relocated to Sweetbriar Ridge to teach kindergarten Sweetbriar Elementary and Chloe Donovan, kindergarten teacher at Sweetbriar Elementary. With the recent population expansion in Sweetbriar Ridge, the elementary school needed to add new teachers. Tanner always wanted to teach fifth grade but accepted the kindergarten position. I love Chloe and Tanner’s first interaction with each other at Books and Beans, and how Chloe was attracted to him. She later discovered that he was the new kindergarten teacher, and they did not hit it off. Chloe was not impressed with his ego and everything he was doing. Conversation between Chloe and Tanner flows so easily and I love that they share secrets with each other that they have not shared with anyone before. I love the chemistry between them. As Chloe and Tanner spend time together setting up their classrooms and teacher the same grade things change between them. An unexpected plot twist puts Chloe and Tanner’s relationship in jeopardy, and once again changes things between them. I love the changes that Tanner and Chloe are willing to make to have a life together, and the opportunities that come available to Tanner. I love that plot twist is so wonderfully resolved. I was so happy that Tanner and Chloe finally admitted their true feelings for one another and what Tanner does to get back together with Chloe. Another favorite part is the epilogue, the Christmas gifts that they give to one another, Tanner’s proposal, and their happily ever after. I love all the changes that Tanner and Chloe make in their lives to have a future with one another. I love how things change between the Donovans and their estranged father, Ronan, when their mother, Marie was involved in an auto accident and needed someone to help with her recovery once she was home. I love the heart-to-heart conversations during the intervention that Chloe’s siblings and parents have with her regarding her breakup with Tanner. Wanting You was an amazing love story; I am so glad that Tanner and Chloe got the happily ever after. I loved all the surprises that filled the pages of this love story. I love how Samantha Chase always manages to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong, sassy woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy man. Samantha Chase continues to deliver all that and so much more. I am not sure how she does it, but Samantha Chase has once again given her readers another remarkable book. Wanting You is filled with all the heartbreaking and heartwarming moments and plot twists that I have come to love and expect in a Samantha Chase love story, I especially loved the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. I love that she writes her stories from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting inside their minds and knowing their thoughts and how they really feel. I love all the characters in this series. I enjoy all the interactions among the Donovan siblings, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing and the descriptions of the Sweetbriar Ridge in Wanting You. I loved catching up with Patrick, and Marissa, as well as the other Donovan siblings. Who does not love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? Love the surprise that was revealed on Christmas Eve. I cannot wait to read the other stories in The Donovans: Sweetbriar Ridge series. Highly recommend this beautifully written love story. Received an advanced copy from the author.
Samantha Chase has done it again. Her writing just pulls me in every single time, and I can't get anything else done before I find out how this next couple's story will end. I was so hooked on Chloe Donovan and Tanner from the very beginning of the novel. Their first meeting wasn't ideal, and Tanner came off as macho and self-centered. Chloe Donovan is a kindergarten teacher. It is the one place she stands out in her large family. She is insecure and anxious, but when she teaches, she is helpful, kind, and the teacher of the year, two years running. Then Tanner comes in and just has to make a splash. The two butt heads and do not like each other at all in the first few meetings. Chloe is concerned about how the rest of the year will go. Then, a tragedy strikes Clhoe's family, and Tanner steps up. That is when we finally get to see the real guy behind the mask, and he is gorgeous, swoony, and very kind to Chloe. I'm never disappointed when I pick up a Samantha Chase story, and I hope she never stops writing because I am here for anything she wants to release. Happy release day, Samantha. 05/21/2024
Chloe has been teacher of the year for the last two years running. When new kindergarten teacher Tanner joins the school, she realizes she finally has some competition.
This was such a swoonworthy read. I couldn't help getting emotionally invested in Chloe and Tanner's relationship. It was all smooth sailing....until it wasn't. The ending was perfect though and I can't wait to read more from the series. I have to commend the narration on the audiobook. It was extremely well done, kept me entertained throughout and was very clear.
I must say, this has been one of the most enjoyable stories I've read in quite some time! From the very first chapter, the author had me hooked. The description of the setting was so vivid and detailed, I could almost feel the snow beneath my feet and smell the pine-scented air. The plot was well-paced and well-planned, with just enough surprises to keep me engaged without becoming predictable. Speaking of engaging, the characters were absolutely delightful! I found myself immediately falling in love with the main characters, Tanner and Chloe, and rooting for them as their relationship blossomed.
Wanting You by Samantha Chase, is the third book in The Donovans Series: Sweetbriar Ridge, Chloe Donovan is a sweet and mellow girl, she is sensitive and always willing to help others, she loves her simple life and teaching children in kindergarden, and although lately she has felt that something is missing, that is a feeling that intensifies when she sees his siblings who have had big changes in their lives and find themselves in their dream jobs and with the ideal partners for them. Everything is changing around her and one of those changes is that due to the growth of the population in Sweetbriar, the school has hired twice as many teachers to meet the demand of the population, which excites her since she will be able to work alongside another teacher and they will be able to organized activities for both classrooms equally, but when classes are about to start, she finds out that at the last minute the person who was supposed to be his pair teacher rejected the job and instead the school hired a guy who, although extremely handsome and to whom she felt attracted since she saw him, when she meets him the guy is curt and rude, so it doesn't seem like they will be able to get along. Tanner Westin is a former ski competitor who decides to put his teaching degree into practice and start teaching, but he is a little discouraged when the job offers are few when the start of classes is so close, but when the job offer for a small town near a new ski resort and although it's not the class he wants to teach, he decides to take the opportunity and moves there a few weeks before to have everything ready for the start of his job. But when he gets there and meets the pretty teacher from the other classroom in his same grade, his competitive spirit comes to light and he ends up being a bit of a jerk, and when he realizes his mistake he tries to correct it, and although it's difficult for him, since he doesn't used to playing as a team member, so he decides to do his part and work alongside Chloe, who, if the situation were different, he would undoubtedly ask her out. When these two try to agree to organize their class plans, they realize that the others are not what they thought and they end up getting carried away by the attraction they feel, but Chloe's insecurities, a product of her parents' relationship, and Tanner's fear of opening up completely will lead them to face how real their feelings for each other are. This story is wonderfully sweet and will have you swooning and falling in love with this characters. With a little drama, a lot of laughter, sweetness and a lot of love, this book and its characters will make you enjoy their story from beginning to end. I love this family and the author once again gives us wonderful characters with whom you will always identify. I love that family dynamic of the Donovans and the Tanners alike and all together they make these gatherings filled with a lot of chaos, laughter and love. I'm truly delighted with this story and will wait patiently for what is to come from this series and from this author. Totally Highly Recommended! *Thanks to Samantha Chase and Valentine PR & Literary Management for my ARC. I voluntarily leave my honest review*
¡Totalmente Altamente Recomendada! *Gracias a Samantha Chase y a Valentine PR & Literary Management por mi ARC. Dejo voluntariamente mi reseña honesta*
First of all, at one point in the book, the FMC’s family called her a “whiny crybaby,” and damn, that’s exactly what she is/was. She overdramatized mundane things, like her teacher boyfriend (the MMC) not sharing his kindergarten lesson plans with her, or the same boyfriend being interviewed about his ski career while she… wasn’t? Idk, must be the small town of it all and how she didn’t have anything exciting going on, so she had to create the drama. All I know is that she truly annoyed me.
The MMC wasn’t it for me either. Although he was a hot skier/ski influencer turned kindergarten teacher, his personality was unexciting and felt so obviously dreamed up by a writer.
But what annoyed me more was the fact that this was a closed-door romance and there was no call-out to that in the book’s description or summary. I felt bamboozled!
Spice was non-existent, so rating-wise this one feels like .5/5.
(Thank you, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley, for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.)
I enjoyed Chloe and Tanners story! I liked that they were both Kindergarten teachers and that Tanner was the new guy on the scene. He was a bit ruff around the edges at first, his cocky ego was questionable but he quickly redeemed himself. Chloe was fine. She's not my favorite character, she was a bit too... jealous and worried too much about things that shouldn't have been an issue but she was sweet and caring and was aware of her own faults in a sense. Outside of that, this was a good read. I love Chloe's family and how they all protect her. The family dynamic is always on point with Samantha's books. All in all a good read and definitely recommend picking up to keep following the Donovan family.
Although I had high hopes for this book, I quickly developed a dislike for the main character. Chloe's constant whining and Tanner's competitiveness over the most absurd things made them appear incredibly immature.
If you have an inclination toward YA romance, this novel might still suit your taste. It reads like YA or NA.

This series started off strong for me. I absolutely loved ‘Loving You’ and ‘Teasing You’ they were both five-star reads for me. However, ‘Finding You’ I tried but couldn’t get through it and DNF’d at around 35% because I loved the first two books in the series so much I wanted to give this book a chance and although it wasn’t a five-star read, it was still a somewhat enjoyable read for me. Just because some of this series fell short for me doesn’t mean it wasn’t an amazing series. It's just those couple of books weren’t for me I guess. It won’t stop me from picking up another book by the author because she is an amazing storyteller. Some books are just not for everyone.
This was a cute, swoon-worthy read. Chloe has been The Teacher Of The Year for the last two years, however, this year there’s a new kindergarten teacher named Tanner and suddenly she has some competition. This book has a lot of humour, fun banter and cheeky jokes, however, it also holds a lot of depth and is extremely emotionally charged which caught me off guard a little!
The connection and chemistry between Chloe and Tanner were undeniable. I liked these two! They were both very relatable characters with very relatable problems in life. They were funny and their banter was too. All in all, it was an okay read and I do recommend giving it a read!
This is the first book I’ve read by Samantha Chase but when I realized we both live in the same town in NC I wanted to read her work!
I’m so glad that I did! This was a sweet and swoony read set in a small town called Sweetbriar.
The main characters are Tanner Westyn, former ski champion pursuing his career now in teaching and lands a job in Sweetbriar and wonders if this is a temporary gig and a stop over until his next big thing.
Chloe Donovan, Kindergarten Teacher of the Year twice over while lucky in her career still lacks confidence which spills over into her relationships as well.
They meet and end up teaching the two Kindergarten classes and we have competition, attraction, family angst and then love.
I also read dark romance and this was more of a two 🌶️🌶️ level of spice but Samantha writes so eloquently the getting to know you stage and the progression into a love relationship where I felt like I was right there with them and could see and feel the steps they were taking towards each other and through the trials and tribulations.
So beautifully written and I could just feel myself as a part of Sweetbriar and part of the Donovan family! I can’t wait to more of the Donovan’s!
Now that Tanner’s career in skiing has come to an end it is time for him to begin the next phase as teacher. Even though the position in Sweetbriar Ridge wasn’t exactly what he was looking for it had the opportunity to become the one he wanted. He was used to being the best as everything, so he plans to bring those skills to the school however he doesn’t make the best first impression on Chloe, the other kindergarten teacher.
When it comes to her students Chloe only wants to give them everything they need, and she loves her job. She enjoys her hometown, thrives on the status quo and is close to her family. Tanner’s appearance in her school and her life has her experiencing new things which is not only exciting but scary as well.
Chloe was content with her life, but everything was uncertain when it came to her family, her career and Tanner as he shows her that sometimes change can be the best thing to happen. Even though it is single narrator she does a wonderful job with both characters and has you experiencing the same emotions that the characters do.
I hopped into this one not realizing it was written in 3rd person, and I will fully admit that that caused me to put the book on hold for way too long. Safe to say I really enjoyed this story. It's the first book I've read/listened to in the series and I really liked seeing the close family dynamic of the Donovans. It's very obvious from the beginning that Chloe doesn't think much of herself. She is her family/friends' biggest cheerleader, but it's like she doesn't think she deserves the same in return. Although it took a bit to get there, I thought the author did a great job of showing us Chloe's battles and how she finally grew to understand that she deserves greatness and love too. I listened to the audiobook, and at times read along in the ebook as well. I will say it was a bit hard to follow in audio because there is only one narrator, and it's a female so at times I wouldn't know that it was the MMC's chapter. Luckily, that did not take away too much enjoyability! I thought the narrator's voice was great though!
WANTING YOU is the third in Samantha Chase's small-town series The Donovans: Sweetbriar Ridge. Kindergarten teacher Chloe Donovan loves her life. She loves her students, and loves her town, and loves that her secret hobby of creating gasp-worthy cosplay is taking off by leaps and bounds. When retired competitive skier Tanner Westyn moves to town AND accepts the new kindergarten teacher opening at her school, he immediately gets off on the wrong foot with Chloe.
Samantha Chase lets readers really experience the frustration and agony of Tanner and Chloe's initial tension, and it's easy to both sympathize and grit one's teeth at the emotions their conflict and attraction elicit. Ms Chase brings this small-town story to life, and Chloe and Tanner's families also provide strong support throughout. A great addition to this series!
Wanting You is the third book in "The Donovans: Sweetbriar Ridge" series. This is an opposites attract romance. There is drama, passion, angst. What a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I absolutely loved the banter between Tanner and Chloe. They definitely had an instant connection even when Chloe kept trying to fight it. I couldn't put this book down. I can't wait to see what comes next in this series.
As always Carly Robins did a great job bringing these character and this story to life.
✨ Review ✨ *** Wanting you was so good and sweet. I loved Tanner and Chloe. They were completely opposite but still managed to make their relationship work. The writing was good and easy to read. I love all the Donovans and the town. Tanner was a bit of a jerk but I loved how hard he tried to be better. It was very easy to understand Chloe and her struggles. The ending was perfect and I cannot wait for more books from this family. *** Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Romance: 🩷🩷🩷 Spice: 🔥 *** Thank you to Samantha Chase for the ARC to review. ***
A pro athlete retires and takes a last minute teaching job as a kindergarten teacher. The other kindergarten teacher was born and raised in that town, has been the "teacher of the year" for two years in a row. Their personalities are very different and they simultaneously can't stand each other, and are attracted to each other. Which will win our?
This is a sweetly sexy, heartwarming and emotional journey filled with engaging charters, witty dialog, exciting twists, thrilling passion and lots of small-town goodness. A sweetly thrilling romance with so much heart and joy and healing laughter. Great reading!
great addition to the series. Loved Chloe and Tanner
Wanting You is the 3rd book in The Donavans: Sweetbriar Ridge series but can be read as a standalone. I found Chloe and Tanner’s story to be a little bit slightly more angsty than her previous stories. But, I’m here for it. These two really pushed each other. They are total opposites, and needless to say they each brought out some hidden insecurities within each other because of their pasts. They are both closed off for personal reasons but slowly but surely they get to know each other and lean on each other for support. I loved how Tanner stepped up and became so swoon worthy. There is drama, laughter, banter, and a underlying sexiness and sweetness to this book that is needed. I loved the personal growth for both characters. They are a tight knit family and loved seeing all the support they provided each other. Loved this one. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
oh, my, this series just keeps getting better. i really enjoyed this book.
she's the town sweetheart and has been the only kindergarten teacher at the towns elementary school. so finding out there's going to be another one this year is only causing her a bit more stress. but when she thought it was another female teacher she was teaming up with, he came steam rolling in, but she wasn't expecting her attraction to him.
he was a high achieving ski champ, but his heart was meant for teaching. not sure what he's getting in such a small town when getting hired to be a kindergarten teacher he goes and puts not only his foot in his mouth but he also wasn't expecting her.
well, I can tell you Tanner and Chloe have a very interesting time not only getting to know each other, working together but also finding out who they are and how to make the relationship grow. because both have to come out from under, some really big shadows and coming out better together.
I really hope you will grab this book because your going to love it and we get to see some more Donovans

I am loving immersing myself in the Donovan family! From the start I have wanted to get Chloe's story and it did not disappoint!
Chloe is the small town kindergarten teacher who everyone adores. She's has the kindest heart and is the sweetest person to everyone. She loves her job but she wants more in life. She's always felt like the lesser person in her family. Her familiar world is turned upside down when a new kindergarten teacher is introduced. She was expecting someone else but last minute that teacher backed out and Tanner Westyn takes her place. He is a former professional skier and he is very arrogant which rubs Chloe the wrong way in the beginning. But they couldn't fight their attraction for long.
I loved how he brought out Chloe's fire and she was so sassy with him. Even though Tanner has trouble reigning in his arrogance, he really is a nice guy and I love how he slowly shows everyone just how good of a guy he is when he steps up for Chloe during their family emergency. Samantha Chase always does so well of really bringing her characters to life. I could truly feel everything along side them and she had me hooked into their story. This series has been so fun and I am loving the found family aspect of every new character brought into this small town. The Donovan's family dynamic is so fun.
Carly Robbins narrated this story and she, as always, did an amazing job. She does such an awesome job of bring the emotions of the book to life and it's like you are right there with them. I can really picture the characters whenever she is narrating a book and I love that when listening to audiobooks!

3.75stars-WANTING YOU is the third instalment in Samantha Chase’s contemporary, adult THE DONOVANS: SWEETBRIAR RIDGE romance series-a spin off from the author’s THE DONOVANS series. This is former professional skier Tanner Westyn turned teacher, and teacher Chloe Donovan’s story line. WANTING YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Tanner and Chloe) WANTING YOU follows the building romance and relationship between our story line couple. Tanner Westyn is embarking on a new career, a primary school teacher, but never expected to find himself teaching kindergarten in Sweetbriar Ridge. Meeting fellow kindergarten teacher Chloe Donovan doesn’t start well, in fact, Chloe is put off from the very start. Chloe Donovan has been teacher of the year twice, and Chloe sees Tanner as her only competition, so much so, that her attitude towards our hero is questionable at best. Having already established herself at the school, Chloe offered Tanner some help but Tanner was willing to go it alone. Completing out of his element, Tanner struggles in the beginning but quickly discovers he is just as able as our story line heroine. What ensues is the building but sometimes acrimonious relationship between Tanner and Chloe, and the potential fall-out as Chloe struggles with Tanner’s ongoing fame and his growing popularity amongst the teachers and students, and his ability to easily fit in everywhere.
The relationship between Chloe and Tanner begins acrimoniously. From the outset, Chloe’s most is out of joint, and Tanner’s former lifestyle will become a bone of contention. Tanner Westyn is only trying to do the best for his students but Chloe’s need to outshine Tanner is threatening their growing relationship. Both are competitive but Chloe continues to struggle with jealousy and her lack of maturity is not a good look. There are no $ex scenes-everything is implied or fades to black.
Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters, most of whom are Chloe’s large extended family. We are re-introduced to Chloe’s embattled parents.
WANTING YOU is a story of family and struggling relationship, acceptance and love. The premise is endearing and sweet; the romance is subtle; the characters are dynamic but liking the heroine may take some time.
"Wanting You" by Samantha Chase is a heartwarming romance that beautifully captures the essence of love, ambition, and personal growth. Set in a charming small town, the story introduces us to Chloe, a dedicated and beloved teacher who has won the Teacher of the Year award twice in a row. Her world is turned upside down when Tanner, a former professional alpine skier with a penchant for overachievement and a sizable ego, moves to town to become the new kindergarten teacher at her school.
Chloe and Tanner's initial interactions are marked by a fierce competitiveness, fueled by Tanner's ambitious nature and Chloe's deep-rooted dedication to her job. However, what starts as a professional rivalry quickly morphs into something more flirtatious and tender. Chase skillfully navigates their transition from enemies to lovers, making their evolving relationship both believable and engaging.
One of the standout elements of the book is Chloe's close-knit, large family, who play a significant role in her life. Their involvement adds depth to her character and highlights her tendency to struggle with feelings of unworthiness due to past abandonment issues linked to her father's departure. This emotional backstory adds a layer of complexity to Chloe, making her journey towards love and self-acceptance all the more poignant.
Tanner, on the other hand, is not just a former athlete but a man chasing a long-held dream of teaching. His character is both inspiring and endearing, as he navigates the challenges of his new profession while grappling with his own insecurities and ambitions.
Written in the third person, "Wanting You" provides a well-rounded perspective on both protagonists' inner lives and struggles. The romantic scenes are tastefully closed-door or off-page, ensuring that the focus remains on the emotional and relational development of the characters.
Samantha Chase's writing is both engaging and heartfelt, making "Wanting You" a compelling read for fans of contemporary romance. The book offers a perfect blend of witty banter, tender moments, and emotional depth, set against the backdrop of a charming small town. Chloe and Tanner's story is a testament to the power of love and personal growth, making this novel a delightful addition to any romance lover's bookshelf.

"Wanting You" by Samantha Chase is the third book in the Sweetbriar Ridge series, and I couldn't wait to dive into Chloe's story after reading the second book, "Losing You". This enemies-to-lovers romance is set in a small town and follows the competitive relationship between two teachers, Tanner and Chloe.
Tanner, a former alpine ski champion, is starting a new career as a teacher in Sweetbriar. Chloe, on the other hand, has always dreamed of being a teacher and is known for her caring nature. Despite her success in her career, Chloe feels like something is missing in her life, especially after a recent breakup. Their initial meeting takes a rocky turn when Tanner discovers that the other kindergarten teacher has received the Teacher of the Year award for the past two years. His competitive streak is triggered, setting the stage for tension between him and Chloe. Chloe, on the other hand, is deeply passionate about her role as a kindergarten teacher. She shines in her position and excels at what she does. Despite her willingness to collaborate with the new teacher, she finds him to be arrogant, overly confident, and domineering. As a result, Tanner is left to navigate his new role solo. As they collaborate, Chloe and Tanner find themselves unable to ignore the chemistry that begins to simmer between them. However, both of them harbor underlying issues that they must confront before they can fully invest in a relationship. Can they learn to coexist without letting their competitive natures get in the way? Will Tanner be able to set aside his ego and arrogance to become the kind of man deserving of someone as intelligent and compassionate as Chloe? These questions loom large as they navigate their feelings and try to build a connection that goes beyond their initial animosity.
While Chloe and Tanner's characters may have been frustrating at times, the dynamic between the Donovan and Tanner families adds depth and entertainment to the story. The chaos and closeness of these clans make "Wanting You" a recommended read, despite not enjoying the third act breakup. Kudos to Samantha Chase for creating such engaging characters and storylines. I, for one, am eagerly anticipating Billie's story in "Seeing You".
